MIssing Notifications - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Is anyone else missing notifications since 4.3? I'm not getting my WWF...it's going to make me cry. I think they may be triggering this security flag from Knox that I refuse to update.

[Q] Facebook prevention information message

I updated my Facebook app last night, and since then it's been coming up with this message every time I log in. Can anyone tell me how I can resolve this? I've tried uninstalling and installing again but it makes no difference.

Well this is the buggy Knox update. Samsung already heard about it and they said they should provide a fix by the end of this week (lol).

I read somewhere else that you should press the update, which I did of course yet it keeps saying network error or something along those lines

With the update 4.3 this should be fixed.
It looked like Samsung accidentally pushed out the Knox binaries without the management app and the update server being online.
Anyway, if the message keeps coming back, I recommend to disable the Knox service entirely. I did it with Titanium Backup, just freeze any app containing the word "Knox".

[Q] Notification question

Hey there,
Hoping that someone can shine a light on this, googled all morning at an alarming rate but so far no luck finding an answer.
Does anyone know what the third notification icon from the left (kinda looking like a shield) is?
It displayed only a few times mainly in the beginning when i just unpacked the device.
Any clarification is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Samsung Knox. Security thing they have implemented.

Could it also be privacy guard if you're on some 4.3 roms. I don't have Knox so don't know what that looks like.
Thank you both very much.
It appears to be Knox after all, what i cant figure out is why the icon only displayed during the first day or so.
Again big thanks to both of you.

[Q] Staying Stock - The Last Two Problems

As an "exercise in personal growth" (and also to let the rooting, rom, Knox, stuff shake out) I'm giving it a go staying stock.
It actually isn't half bad and I'm down to two last minor problems that I can't figure out and I'm hoping someone has some wisdom to impart.
1. How do I disable automatic contact linking? My business partner and my company got linked because they shared both an address and a phone number. I fixed that but I don't know what else has been auto-linked. (Even just within Google contacts... I'm not talking about Facebook/Google linking but I wouldn't want that either)
2. How can I get the weather to show on the Lock Screen? CyanogenMod it was "just there" (at least I don't remember having to add it)
Thanks in advance if anyone can help!
P.S. As I mentioned I'm trying to stay stock if possible. I realize I could probably do at least the weather with rooting and installing something and I am open to rooting if absolutely necessary.
Check out "Chronus - Home and Lock widget" - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dvtonder.chronus
Might not work if you have security on your lock screen though. Samsung in their infinite wisdom really messed up the vanilla Android lock screen.

Yeah... I can't get it to work... At least not in any "obvious" way. (Long clicking, etc).
And I have to agree with you... I'm assuming that an S-View case isn't going to work with any security enabled either?
If so, it really sucks that "premier headlining" features don't work with security enabled.

Smart Manager "Threat Detected" Warning

After rooting the phone occasionally the Smart Manager will popup orange with the "Threat Detected" warning. Not major but annoying. Anyone know how to fix this or if it is fixable outside of unrooting?

It's normal since Knox is designed to check for any system changes. Since the stock recovery is change that's why you are getting that warning. I believe there is only the best way to freeze it using Titanium backup.
Freeze the whole Smart Manager app? It's essentially just aesthetics right? Is there a way to just freeze the security agent file?

[HELP] S7 Screenshot Problem (Prevented by security policy)

Hey everyone. I am having a issue with my phone when trying to take a screenshot. It will not allow me to take a screenshot, saying "Prevented by security policy." I discovered this when trying to take a screencap inside the Playstation app, but the Playstation Store part of it. As I understand it, this is a restriction by the individual app. How can I bypass this? I already tried some overlay apps like "Touchshot," which the result is either when I open the PS Store, it force quits Touchshot, or it will take a picture but everything is black.
I am not rooted, and would hope to find a solution without rooting. I also saw solutions that involve hooking up the phone to a PC, which I also would like to try to avoid as well. Is this restriction exclusive to the S7/Samsung phones, or it this a universal Android problem? If not, which phones do not have this problem?
If I have to root the phone to do it, is there currently an S7 Edge root that does not trip Knox? Anything else I should know?
Thanks for any help you can give!

No workaround for this, rooted or otherwise, that I'm aware of.

Well there is a way to do it if you are rooted. But since I am not, I was trying to deal with it that way...
Is there even a root for the S7 without tripping Knox yet? If there was, I might root it.
Anyway, thanks for the reply!
