FAQ - MIUI v5 (imanesaurus)
FAQ:
Installation:
1. How do I install this Rom?
Awesome tutorial by @itseasy21
If you already have Cwm, you can proceed from step 6 on.
itseasy21 said:
FOR FRESH INSTALL FROM STOCK ROM
1. Download the prebuilt release of MIUI you wish to install.
Optional: Download any supplemental 3rd-party applications packages for the device you wish to use. (You have to install a 3rd-party app to get the Google apps, like Gmail, Play Store, and Youtube.)
2. Extract the boot.img from the zip to your computer, you will need this file for fastboot.
3. Place the MIUI .zip file on the root of the SD card.
Optional: Place any supplemental packages' .zip file on the root of the SD card.
4. Put the phone into fastboot mode:
5. Open a terminal on the PC and enter the following:
fastboot -i 0xfce flash boot boot.img
fastboot -i 0xfce reboot
While the device reboots, press the Volume rockers a few times to load recovery.
6. Once the device boots into the ClockworkMod Recovery, use the physical volume buttons to move up and down. On most devices, the power button is used to confirm your selection, although for some devices the power button is used as a "back" button to go up one level, in which case the home button is used to confirm the selection.
Optional/Recommended: Select backup and restore to create a backup of the current installation on the Xperia SP.
7. Select the option to wipe data/factory reset.
8. Select Install zip from sdcard.
9. Select Choose zip from sdcard.
10. Select the MIUI file you placed on the sdcard. You will then need to then confirm that you do wish to flash this file.
Optional: Install any additional packages you wish using the same method.
11. Once the installation has finished, return back to the main menu, and select the reboot system now option. The Xperia SP should now boot into MIUI.

I put in the spoiler to shorten the tutorial.
2. Can I install this on locked Bootloader?
-No, you cannot, because this Rom uses a different Kernel than stock. And it won't ever be possible.
3. Can I flash this over the stock Rom?
Yes, you can, as long as you have your Bootloader unlocked and Cwm installed. Please refer to question 1.
4. How can I access Cwm to update my Rom?
The Kernel of MIUI v5 doesn't have a logo or indicator. You have to press the Volume+ button several times when the phone boots up.
5. My phone is stuck on bootlogo:(MIUI symbol)
That's called a bootloop. As long as you can access Cwm, nothing is lost. Post here a detailed showcase what you did.
6. Nothing works anymore, can't even switch my phone on:
That can happen if you don't follow the instructions!
Download the latest Flashtool and a suiting .ftf file. Put that in the /firmwares folder in flashtool, then start it up and choose the lightning symbol and "flashmode". Follow the instructions.
It can happen that nothing happens. Then we cannot help you further, you bricked your device.
2. After the Installation:
1. I can't control my headset with it's button!
This is a known Problem with all unofficial (and buildon-) Cyanogenmod Builds.

Code:

That may be done via editing .xml-files inside themes. I don't know more about that, but you may find info on the Internet
There are themes that have the clock on the bottom right corner, but they don't have lock ring.

Another one suggestion - is there chance for this blur effect in task manager or when open folder...?

The effect is probably theme - related. Look in themes/category/components/status bar
Shuffle songs via tapping on the album art in the middle of the 3 now playing screens, then it will look like this

i don't know exactly how this one can be, maybe something wrong on my patchrom source, or maybe its a new feature for latest miui.
but if this is a bug, i will fixed it ASAP.

That's a bug i also face.
I tried to solve it via logging out my account and logging it in again. Didn't work. So I just disabled synchronisation.

After i update to 3.11.1 but its still showing 3.10.25 as current version in abour phone>MIUI version
Same here
Im afraid the multilanguage patch made the performance a lot worse
I will keep on testing, maybe I'll reset the phone and look if it gets better.
I mean there are no problems with using the Rom in semi german, but there's a resistance against that in my head, I want a fully german Rom that works fluidly even if I don't need it.
What do you guys think?
Gesendet von meinem C5303 mit Tapatalk
@madmiths i forgot to modified build.prop.
im just repo sync my patchrom, and build it
but all of the features is definitely miui 3.11.1, you can check all miui changelog here
those all feature is available on newest version of mine
@keenofhiphop
dont need to worry about that.
like i said it will be decrease your performance, it just a littlebit you almost didn't noticed that.
so if you gonna tested it, just install multilangpatch, and if you feel performance decrease too much just install the main rom again.

If you really want it to dissappear you can disable sync by going to settings -> Sync -> Enable Sync (Switch it to off).
I believe that this also affects your other sync accounts sadly (Google etc.) but it got rid of it and only comes when I try to sync manually.
Also a quite serious bug report, I got a call today, but the internal speaker didn't work for me. Not sure if I accidentally hit some setting, but it worked the second I switched to the loud speaker.

Most Functions are working for me including back up and restore.
No need to rewrite update-script .All flashable working in CWM recovery will also work here.
But backups made by CWM Recovery will not work.This is a complete replacement of Clockworkmod.This has separate backup folders and methods.So you have to do your backups again.

Awesome dude!!! Respect +
First of all i would like to say a massive thanks to:
- Cj360 for the epic Jelly bean Rom
- Cosmicdan for his awesome kernel
- Lupus as well for his awesome kernel
- And everyone else who made this Rom possible, I thank all of you !!
So now with the intro, I'm new to the forum and i shall be testing different Rom's and kernels and giving feedback mainly on the Xperia play R800i and the Xperia x10 mini pro U20i, recently I've been trying a lot of different Rom's and i stumbled acrossed this JB slim Rom (For the Xperia play) and i was extremely impressed with its performance. The interface is simply stunning, blazing fast and built firmly compared to other ICS and JB Rom's.
Here are some of the specs i gathered from my phone's settings
- Operating system, 4.1.2 Android Jellybean
- Model Number, R800i
- Slim version, Slim-3.1.0-20130202-2346-UNOFFICIAL
- GSM ( Note GSM Version is for UK only)
- Kernel Version
2.6.32.9-Turbo_v3.1 [email protected], #66
- Rooted (Built within the kernel, Both Cosmicdans and Lupus)
[ I have attached some screen shots of this Rom ]
If you have an Xperia play i would highly suggest trying this out, as it is one of the best I've seen on xda:

Installation Guide [For people who do not know how to install anything]
DISCLAIMERS
Before you start anything, I'm not responsible for any: Bricked devices, dead SD cards, boot-loops, etc (You know the drill). You do this of your own free will
Ok with all the serious chat aside lets begin. Firstly you will need the following:
- Unlocked boot-loader -----> Follow this guide from Sony:
http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
- Flash tool -------> Get that from here:
http://androxyde.github.com/
- The Slim-bean Rom -----> Download slim-bean in Second post, pick GSM or CDMA depending on where you are:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975851
Below are two links i found showing all countries that use GSM and CDMA, hope it helps ! (If your still confused do a little bit of research !)
GSM -----> http://www.worldtimezone.com/gsm.html
CDMA -----> http://www.cdg.org/worldwide/index.asp - The kernel -----> Get either Lupus or CosmicDans turbo kernel (There both epic!)
Lupus kernel from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1861970
Turbo Kernel from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1817548
- AND A VERY IMPORTANT THING YOU MUST HAVE IS ..... patience's
Ok if you have everything lets start the guide (Note: Make sure everything is done on windows 7, as its easier than older versions of windows)
1. Before we do anything make sure that you have a unlock boot-loader and you have a downloaded the following files:
- The Rom itself ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975851
- The Google apps -----> http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
- The Kernal -----> I did Turbo Kernal http://www.mediafire.com/?ncgvp2qcuns9m (NOTE: PICK ZEUS as that is the code name for Xperia play)
- Flash tool -----> http://androxyde.github.com/
- Fast boot Package -----> http://db.tt/B5vG1ynM
- R800i_4.0.2.A.0.62_phoenixvendor.ftf ------> https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B3UZttldr317Zm4xRnQ2WkRFbHM/edit?pli=1
2. Preparing your phone, make sure that you usb debug mode on and file transfer to MSC and allow unknown applications. Next you must connect your phone to your computer or laptop via usb, and open up flashtool and remember to install the drivers, they are located in C:\Flashtool\drivers and install the xperia play driver, fastboot driver and flash mode drivers. (MAKE A BACKUP OF ALL YOUR FILES IF YOU HAVE TO)
3. Go into flash-tool and select flash (Its a lightning sign) and then press flash and open up the directory where you downloaded the R800i_4.0.2.A.0.62_phoenixvendor.ftf and flash it. Wait a few secs or minutes depending on your computer/ laptops speed, then a dialog will open telling you to shutdown your phone so shutdown and wait until its completely off. Now connect the end cable to your Xperia play and hold the back button and connect your USB into the computer and wait for it to flash. This can take some time and you must keep hold of the back button until its completed. After completion it will ask for you to unplug the USB and turn on your phone so do so, then it will launch up the Sony sign and it will pretty much look like the original firmware you had before. Now moving on, once booted up you must skip all settings and wait for the phone to fully load once the set up is done go back to setting and make sure again that USB debug mode is on, unknown sources is enabled and it is in MSC mode. (Note for CDMA R800x users you don not need to flash the R800i_4.0.2.A.0.62_phoenixvendor.ftf )
4. Now connect the usb to the computer/laptop and place the Rom and Gapps onto your sdcard (Make a folder called Custom Rom). and then disconnect the usb after thats done.
5. Now this is were it can get complicated, so please pay attention. You must now shutdown the phone and disconnect it from the computer. Extract the fast boot package (Note: i would recommend to do this all on windows 7) and place it on desktop. Now drop the kernal you downloaded into the same folder (In this case i picked Turbo kernal, so i place it in the same folder). And holding the SHIFT KEY + RIGHT CLICK will open up a little menu (like when you right click anyway) and so you click on open command prompt here (CMD). ok now you type in the following code (In this case the turbo kernal) :
Fastboot flash boot boot_zeus_turbo-v3.1.img
Now it will say waiting for device so you now have to have you xperia play of and hold the search button and plug your usb back in then it will start transferring the kernel onto your xperia play, wait until it has finished and then disconnect your phone and boot it up.
6. You should see the sony sign and the Turbo sign underneath at this point you have to keep press the volume down button -
and then you will enter into a screen where it shows slot 1, 2, 3 and 4. So press slot 1 and then it should say: Boot, TWRP recovery, change slot and Tweaks and mods. So press recovery and then you will come to a screen with different options. First you need wipe data so goto wipe and do a factory reset and then go back and wipe dalvik cache and go back again and wipe cache.
7. Now you must go back and press install and it will show you, your sd card so now you must go to the folder that you name 'Custom rom', like i said before and now install the slim rom, it will ask you to swipe to install so do so and then restart your phone !!. (WARNING DO NOT INSTALL GAPPS STRAIGHT AFTER INSTALLATION OF ROM, INSTALL ROM AND THEN REBOOT AT LEAST ONCE BEFORE FLASHING GAPPS).
8. So now you have rebooted your phone, you should see after the sony sign, the world 'Slim bean' flashing. Wait a bit for it to boot up and then fill out the basic installation form.
9: restart the phone and install Gapps through recovery but do NOT WIPE DALVIK CACHE OR CLEAR CACHE OR FACTORY RESET, just install the gapp zip the same way you installed the rom in 'Custom Rom' folder and then restart.
10. you should have google apps now but the screen might look very small at first and so to fix this press: Menu button> System settings> Interface> Genral UI > LCD density and follow the steps. (This fixes issues with the screen and allows you to use apps like Facebook)
11. The final step of course is to enjoy your new Jelly Bean 4.1.2 Rom and Remember to thank everyone who made this Rom possible!!
So all in all i would highly recommend this, if you currently hold a Xperia play and your fed up with gingerbread then try this out, you won't be disappointed !!
Did i miss anything, if so reply back and i'll do my best to answer your question.

Re: [JB] Slimbean for Xperia play Review (Thanks to; cj360, cosmic dan and lupus)
This is a rather good guide. You might want to change the title. By saying "review" it could give the impression that you were just giving your opinions on the ROM. I used this guide to put slimbean on my Play and i found it easy to follow and understand. However, transferring my apps and data is such a pain:banghead:. I bought TB Pro as well but it tends to hang which leads to frustration as i have to go through the process of which apps i want restored and which ones i don't again and again. It's quite tedious and slow. Anyone know how to make it work "properly" or an alternative?

I look forward to make more installation guides for people in the xda community and i agree i think i should change the title from 'Review' to 'Installation' (My bad sorry ). This is my first installation guide and i'm very happy that you were able to use it and install the slim Rom, as for the apps i think if you have a Google account anyway you should be able to backup your apps from your previous firmware e.g. Gingerbread. I think if you go to Play store then press menu and go to 'My apps' you should be able to see apps installed and previous apps installed if you swipe to the right (However you have to install them individually). I know how you feel though I've been trying different Roms and every time i find myself re-installing and backing up a lot of data, but for now i'm not sure if there is fix or an alternative for TB pro. But i would suggest backing them up manually for now via play store, until there is a way to do it all at once. But nevertheless I will try my best to give installation for all different roms (Hopefully for all phones), making it simpler and helpful for people to understand. Currently i'm studying in college but when i have time i will post different Rom installation guide, but for now thank you.

Well don't get me wrong but all you actually have to change are just few lines in the thread and the title of the thread... Seriously, it's good that you've created such guide but come on, creating like 10-20 threads for different roms which doesn't actually differ much in the installation process? This is a rather good guide. You might want to change the title. By saying "review" it could give the impression that you were just giving your opinions on the ROM. I used this guide to put slimbean on my Play and i found it easy to follow and understand. However, transferring my apps and data is such a pain:banghead:. I bought TB Pro as well but it tends to hang which leads to frustration as i have to go through the process of which apps i want restored and which ones i don't again and again. It's quite tedious and slow. Anyone know how to make it work "properly" or an alternative?

I like Appextractor from AppsbyAndy. It lets you extract your apps from a nandroid backup. It's not perfect, sometimes apps are missing, but I like it WAY better than TIBU. The only thing I use TiBu for anymore is removing system apps I don't want.

Awesome rom; but with a big flow
EpicAsianGuy said:

GSM -----> http://www.worldtimezone.com/gsm.html
- The Rom itself ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975851
- The Google apps -----> http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
- The Kernal -----> I did Turbo Kernal http://www.mediafire.com/?ncgvp2qcuns9m (NOTE: PICK ZEUS as that is the code name for Xperia play)
- Flash tool -----> http://androxyde.github.com/
- Fast boot Package -----> http://db.tt/B5vG1ynM
- R800i_4.0.2.A.0.62_phoenixvendor.ftf ------> https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B3UZttldr317Zm4xRnQ2WkRFbHM/edit?pli=1

I loved the performance of the rom. True jb feel with amazing customization tweets. Checked high end game FIFA12. Works great.
But the rom ultimately is useless for me until you come up with a gamepad and touch pad fix.
WE HAVE XPERIA PLAY. But without the gamepad working; gives such an ordinary feel. sorry.
PLEASE REPLY.

Thank you so much :good:
So I will just say upfront that after constantly keeping up to date with the current ROM I'm using, my htc one freezes during installs of rom, tweaks, themes, etc. This freeze is apparently to do with Aroma and our touch screen.
The way around it (somewhat) is to pre-modify the config file in note pad, line after line and it's time consuming. Pre-modifying the config allows us to simply hit next repeatedly to quickly get to the installation process because all of the options are already set.
I created an app called 'Thaw It' to help create a config instead of manually editing it. It runs in Android. It's an app that reads the config, displays checkboxes and descriptions, allowing the user to check install options, and then finally outputs a new config file for Aroma.
Can I get some replies on whether this community would be interested in using my app? If no one replies I will assume everyone is happy with their work arounds (whether that be rebooting phone and retrying, or hand modifying the config with notepad).
Not sure if this thread is in the right place. It's purpose is to gauge the need for my app....
You can use the volume up/down keys to change the currently selected item and then use the Power button to change that item (click a button, toggle a checkbox, etc) to completely avoid having to use the touchscreen. It's my understanding this fixes the Aroma lockups with the HTC One. That's how I've flashed the last three ROMs and they've all finished fine, though Aroma still locks up at the end when you select Next to reboot. At that point you can just hold down the power button until the phone shuts off and turn it back on and you're good to go.
Sure, I would love to use your app.
Thnx

Yes I knew about the power and volume buttons being an option.
Here is the only bad thing about the app. It extracts the config file from the zip and reads it, but does not rebuild it into the zip when it's done.
So the last step is take the new generated config file, and drag it back into the zip to replace the original.
The reason I don't automate this is because it would take a very long time to unpack the entire zip, and repack it programmatically using the built in libraries.
still usable?
AROMA works fine with Clockworkmod Touch Recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173863
However, if you already have TWP backups, they won't work with the above recovery.

Wouldn't it be better to try and fix aroma with the aroma dev instead of creating an app to work around a bug?

Amarullz manage to fix Aroma already for HTC One. It's just he still has some minor things to be tweaked before he officially releases it. Although he already released the beta version to the public.

I use TWRP. I guess it's a twrp/aroma specific issue?
What's this?
As the title mentioned above, It disables your mobile data right after flashing a rom through recovery so that your money won't be deducted after boot
Personal Information
For me, I use it because I use a prepaid card and every time the mobile data is enabled after boot. It deducts some amount of money from my prepaid causing me to lose money every time I flash a new rom.
What is modified?
apns_conf.xml which can be found in system/ etc
How to flash?
1. Flash any custom rom that you would like to use through recovery
2. When it's done, go to mounts & storage and mount /system
3. Flash MobileDataOff.zip from attachments below
3. Reboot system and enjoy a safer way to flash roms

Been there done that. Sometimes some roms have setup wizards which takes quite a while to load. And sometimes for what reason my prepaid decreases from a 2 to a 1 digit number. That's why I decided to do this mod.

yup the reason I made this into a flashable zip is because some people [like me] don't know how to run scripts or adb.
Okay going to update this to include credits and a restore file so that it does the same function as the script

It has some Rooted-Phone-Only features that are watch-sided User-Interface only, its features are
-Reboot System (or a normal reboot basicly)
-Reboot Recovery
-Reboot Bootloader (if phone compatible, otherwise it will most likely reboot into system)
-Power Off
This app uses on-screen words when you move the left and right border touchpad area(s) to switch between the options then hit select to reboot/power off to the option on the screen, nothing more, nothing less
**note** after the phone is rebooted u WILL need to re-sync your liveview (as a reboot stops the bluetooth connection of course, not to mention a power off)

This bug is also on my second device (Arc S). I think i know what is wrong. Reboot a phone needs root acess. But my phone does not ask me, wheter I want to give the plug-in root acess. Has your phone ask you, wheter you want to give the acess (superuser/superSU)
@jkok: is it possible to add a Action-button, in the Plug-in-Preferences on Phone, which enables the rootacess without the liveview? Also there could be a Test Button, which shutdowns the phone for testing.

Thanks! glad to have helped, its one of the simpleist apps ive done tbh it just runs in android's shell (with root permissions, or else it would have to be a system app to reboot, only with different code then i used) so the way i did it you dont need it to be a system app, but requires rooted phone.
P.S. Thanks for bumping this the overall downloads went from 23 all the way to 98 since u posted 0.0... lol
