Most Functions are working for me including back up and restore.
No need to rewrite update-script .All flashable working in CWM recovery will also work here.
But backups made by CWM Recovery will not work. This is a complete replacement of Clockworkmod. This has separate backup folders and methods. So you have to do your backups again.

More interested in what is not implemented in other, already existing at the time, recoverys.
These are:
- Ability to install APK's, IMG's, ZIP's, TAR's, TGZ's from the same menu
- Battery charging
- Ability to root any ROM
- battery status (charging status, temperature ) display
- Hold volume keys to scroll
These features really work?
Emo was working on this as well

As I said most basic functions and normal backup/restore work...Recovery specific functions...
-Yes you can not only install apk but also choose install location as system app or normal app.Zips Work. All others also should work.
-Battery charging status shown.
-You can set scroll delay in Options>>Set scroll delay to customize "Hold volume keys to scroll"
-Rooting I cannot test because I am already rooted.
Not Working:-
-Changing nand backup location-So do not change it to external sd-we backup on sdcard only anyways
-Battery temperature and voltage-Will fix it later
awesome dude!
will test it now =)

I will post here some apps and facts for new users.
1. Flashing and rooting your device
ROOT
Rooting is procedure that gives you full acces to your device. (jailbreaking)
Root is not that much necessary as jailbreak because Android is more open platform than iOS.
You need root for some apps. (file managers, unlocking programs...)
CUSTOM ROMS
Custom roms are created for all kind of users.
When you flash a custom rom all your data should be WIPED (depends about developer).
Nowdays probably all roms are based on 2.2 or 2.2.1 firmwares.
Read the description of rom carefully.
Every rom has a ''How to flash it'' section.
Install only roms created for your device.
KERNEL
Kernel is a bridge between applications and the actual data processing done at the hardware level.
Kernel is also managing system resources.
Nowdays a lot kernels have lagfix options and some of them have overclock option.
Lagfix will fasten up your device
Lagfix will change system write and read options to ext4, ext2 or jfs.
Ext4 - probably most stable but it drains battery.
Don't install one click lagfix from the market because it is unsupported and it can brick your device
Themes
Setting theme via CWM
1. Download the zip file for the theme to your sdcard (make sure it's CWM-flashable).
2. Reboot into recovery mode by holding down vol up, home button and power button when the phone is starting up. This should bring you to a red/green/blue text menu with a list of options. This is Clockworkmod Recovery.
3. Scroll down using the volume buttons to the option "Install zip from sdcard" (usually option 4). Select it by pressing the power button.
4. Select "choose zip from sdcard" (NOT "Install update zip") and browse to the theme zip you saved earlier. Press the power button to select it. Select YES to continue.
5. You should see a message that the file has been installed successfully.
6. Select the *back* option to go back to the previous page then choose "reboot".
Done.
If you want to make a backup, look for the backup submenu in Clockworkmod Recovery. Make sure you have enough free space on your sdcard first!
If the theme suggests wiping cache/dalvik cache these can also be found on the CWM menu. "Wipe cache partition" is on the main menu, and "Wipe Dalvik cache" is on the "Advanced CWM" submenu. (copied from Jumbas 10th post)
Some frases: Deodex = ensuring integrity of rom (packing APK files)
FC = Force Close (Crash of an App / Component)
BLN = Backlight Notifications
CWM = ClockworkMod Recovery (mostly used to install new ROMs)
Cache = a component that transparently stores data so that future requests for that data can be served faster.
Dalvik cache = a program cache area for the program dalvik.
Dalvik = java based virtual machine that is the bases for running your programs.
Voodoo & speedmod = kernels with integrated lagfixes
Brick = device that is not able to work
Put your device in recovery by shutting it down and using 3-button-combo (Volume Up + Home + Power)

Some nice versions of android market: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957331
FOR IPHONE USERS
Android os is very different from iOS.
Your android device can not run iOS.
In android there is not that much updates like in iOS. (I mean like 4.2 -> 4.2.1)
On android you can use widgets on home screen and you have an app drawer that will show you your apps.
There are lot of android mobile phones that don't have same hardware, so don't expect that all games will look like on iphone because a large number of games are being created for less-powerful devices.
You can change interface of your device with launcher that you can get from market. (changing app drawer style)
Android doesn't have cydia....you can get all apps on market.
There is one app like Install0us for android. Search for it on google. BUT REMEMBER THAT DEVELOPERS NEED MONEY FOR THEIR WORK.
There is no app for android that will provide mutitasking like on iphone 4 (as much as I know)
There is no winterboard for Android.

this should be a sticky for all the newbies on here a quick and simple breakdown of what things mean. maybe it will stop so many un needed posts. thanks man
Could you also write down instruction on how to apply themes?
I have searched all xda forum but could not find a clear instruction.
All of them just says,
use cmd to flash update.zip
but newbies like me don't even know what cmd is.
will applying theme wipe all data?
how would you revert back to original theme?
I think these info could help alot of newbies!
Great work by the way!
Cheers
Im sorry but do you know what you talking about??
Try to learn what things is before you write a guide.

OneClickLagFix is an old way to lagfix the phone and it still works, but there is alot of better way to do it today.
The phone is almost impossible to brick if you can go into download mode.
The only problem you can get is that your phone dont boot up, but you can always flash a fresh firmware and make it works.

You do use it to install rom and themes.

So dont write you have bricked the phone. people just will have fun with you or be mad for you dont know what it means.

To install a theme from Clockworkmod Recovery:

Any questions just ask.

I think we should also consider writing a "how to get your phone back to stock" guide with how to unroot, remove busybox (not that easy to find!) etc. New thread or keep it in this one?
BTW, does ROM Manager install CWM to the kernel? Is it removed by just unistalling the app or do I have to factory reset the device?

It depends on how you use it.
You can use ext4 in different way.
But if you use all power that you can get from ext4 then it will use more battery.
But hardcore do have a version that don't drain more battery then stock file system.

Here are CWM Backups of actual ICS ROM's.
Due to the fact, that a lot of people still have permanent 'reboot' problems with actual ICS ROM's after flashing, i decided to open this thread. So if you belong to that group of people, i'll provide downloads of 'clean' ICS CWM backups, which should work in most cases.
Beside backups of ROM's from the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1406317 i'll also provide a backup from the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1425865 which was discussed a lot because the original author of this thread was not the person who developed that ROM. He just copied the work of an other developer from the Galaxy-Mini section and simply replaced some files to get it running on the Galaxy ACE. So for the last thread, all credits go to XDA-Developer squadzone for his fantastic work.
The here provided downloads are CWM backups and can not be flashed !
Note: because i use a2sd i have an ext4 partition on my SD. When you do a backup via CWM this partition is also included in the backup, even if it's empty. So if you don't have an ext partition you'll probably get an error that 'sd-ext' could not be formatted/restored. You can simply ignore this error and reboot.
- You MUST have Clockworkmod 5.0.2.6 installed !
Instructions:
- download the package of your choice
- unpack the download
- copy the resulting folder to your phones sdcard to folder /clockworkmod/backup
- reboot to recovery
- (optional but recommended) make a backup of your ROM
- do a 'wipe data/factory reset'
- (optional) format your system partition
- choose 'backup and restore'
- choose 'Restore'
- select folder which you have copied to your sdcard before
- start restore
- reboot
If it starts in german language, you can change that under 'Einstellungen' -> 'Sprache & Tastatur'

Yap, you must have an ext4 partition on your SD-Card. You can create one via CWM. But before you do that make a backup of your SD-Card to your computer because preparing your SD-Card via CWM will completely wipe your content...
Updated tweaks are at bottom of this post
Here is a flashable zip of 3 scripts that when put together speed up your phone and make it faster.
The niftyconiptionstweaks was meant only for the HTC Evo 4g but if your phone supports "init.d" then try it out if you want to and please report back. It may not even flash in recovery because the phones are different but its worth a shot. If it works, please post saying it does and what kind of phone you have. The Legit Zip should work for any phone.
To determine if your phone supports "init.d", download a file manager like Root Explorer or ES File Explorer, go to "system", then "etc". If you come across a folder named "init.d" then your phone may support it.
I did not write these scripts, I just edited them to work like Car-O-Dopes tweaks. It basically has the same values as Car-o-Dopes tweaks. It is best to use this on a Sense rom. I used the S97ramscript, KickAssKernel, and 02sictweaks but I changed the values of each script to match what Car-o-Dopes tweaks do, and I wanted to share this with you all because it makes installing these tweaks easier and faster. Thanks to zeppelinrox for the kickasskernelizer, Juwe11 for the S97ramscript, Smokinl1337 for the 02sicktweaks, coffehandle for giving me the idea when he made his own tweaks, and Car-o-Dope for coming up with the ultimate combination of out-of-memory settings and sysctl tweaks that make your phone smooth as butter.
I use this on my HTC Evo 4g running Shooter E3D, with AnthraX kernel and it works like a charm.
I am in no way responsible if your device messes up or anything unwanted happens to it. Use at your own risk.

Instructions: Follow Exactly
1) Make a nandroid backup incase something goes wrong or you want to revert.
2) Download a file manager like Root Explorer or ES File Explorer (I use Root explorer).
3) Open up root explorer and go to "system", then "etc", then "init.d". Click on the "Mount R/W" button so it turns to "Mount R/O" (that way you can delete files).
4) Delete any or move to a folder on your sdcard (incase you want to revert) any ram scripts or ram tweaks you may have that is in the "init.d" folder (examples of ram scripts or tweaks are 01sysctl, 06sysctl, 02sicktweaks, S97ramscript, 99supercharge, and 98Kickasskernel).
5) Also if you are running v6 supercharger, you need to un-supercharge. If you are running Kickass Kernelizer, you need to un-kernelize and do not run those scripts while you have the niftyconiptionsscripts installed.
6) Uninstall any ram manager apps or task killers and do not use these.
7) After you uninstall all of that, reboot your phone and verify that none of the scripts you had before are still installed. (it will mess with the scripts you are about to install).
8) Boot into recovery (preferably Amon Ra).
9) Once in recovery, you need to mount /system, then mount /data.
10) Find the niftyconiptionstweaks.zip you downloaded and flash it.
11) After you flash the zip, go back and unmount /system. Don't mess with the /data because after you flashed the zip, it automatically unmounted the /data for you.
12) Reboot phone and enjoy. Let your phone set at the lock screen for about 2 minutes, unlock and let it set for another 2 minutes to let it settle in. Your phone will become dramatically smoother after about an hour.
UPDATE:
Nifty Coniptions Tweaks
Updated niftyconitpionstweaks. Install just as you would before and follow directions as posted above. I got rid of some unnecessary settings in the scripts. Also your sdcard read ahead speed will change to 512kb which is the optimal value for the evo.

The Legit Zip

Here is The Legit Zip I just put together. This has the same settings as the V6 Supercharger on option 8 and the Kickasskernalizer. I did not change any values to these so its the same as installing those two scipts manually. Again, I did not write these scripts, I just put them into a tweak bundle to make it easier to install. Thanks to zepplinrox for making the V6 supercharger and the Kickasskernalizer. To install this, follow the same instructions in the first post.
To see if the settings stuck, download Rom Toolbox Pro and go to the performance tab, Kernel tweaks or Sysctl Tweaks (depending on what version of the application you have) and see if it reads as Min Free KBytes - 4096, Dirty Ratio - 95, Dirty Background Ratio - 60, VFS Cache Pressure - 10. Then go to the Auto Memory Manager and see if it reads as 6,12,150,165,180,200.
If you would like me to add another version of the V6 Supercharger just let me know.
Have fun and hit that thanks button if you like it.

Like I said in the OP. Idk if it will work or not for any other phone besides the evo, that's why I have it in this section to find out what phones it will work for. If it does, please report back, The Legit Zip should work with no problems though.

FAQ - MIUI v5 (imanesaurus)
FAQ:
Installation:
1. How do I install this Rom?
Awesome tutorial by @itseasy21
If you already have Cwm, you can proceed from step 6 on.
itseasy21 said:
FOR FRESH INSTALL FROM STOCK ROM
1. Download the prebuilt release of MIUI you wish to install.
Optional: Download any supplemental 3rd-party applications packages for the device you wish to use. (You have to install a 3rd-party app to get the Google apps, like Gmail, Play Store, and Youtube.)
2. Extract the boot.img from the zip to your computer, you will need this file for fastboot.
3. Place the MIUI .zip file on the root of the SD card.
Optional: Place any supplemental packages' .zip file on the root of the SD card.
4. Put the phone into fastboot mode:
5. Open a terminal on the PC and enter the following:
fastboot -i 0xfce flash boot boot.img
fastboot -i 0xfce reboot
While the device reboots, press the Volume rockers a few times to load recovery.
6. Once the device boots into the ClockworkMod Recovery, use the physical volume buttons to move up and down. On most devices, the power button is used to confirm your selection, although for some devices the power button is used as a "back" button to go up one level, in which case the home button is used to confirm the selection.
Optional/Recommended: Select backup and restore to create a backup of the current installation on the Xperia SP.
7. Select the option to wipe data/factory reset.
8. Select Install zip from sdcard.
9. Select Choose zip from sdcard.
10. Select the MIUI file you placed on the sdcard. You will then need to then confirm that you do wish to flash this file.
Optional: Install any additional packages you wish using the same method.
11. Once the installation has finished, return back to the main menu, and select the reboot system now option. The Xperia SP should now boot into MIUI.

I put in the spoiler to shorten the tutorial.
2. Can I install this on locked Bootloader?
-No, you cannot, because this Rom uses a different Kernel than stock. And it won't ever be possible.
3. Can I flash this over the stock Rom?
Yes, you can, as long as you have your Bootloader unlocked and Cwm installed. Please refer to question 1.
4. How can I access Cwm to update my Rom?
The Kernel of MIUI v5 doesn't have a logo or indicator. You have to press the Volume+ button several times when the phone boots up.
5. My phone is stuck on bootlogo:(MIUI symbol)
That's called a bootloop. As long as you can access Cwm, nothing is lost. Post here a detailed showcase what you did.
6. Nothing works anymore, can't even switch my phone on:
That can happen if you don't follow the instructions!
Download the latest Flashtool and a suiting .ftf file. Put that in the /firmwares folder in flashtool, then start it up and choose the lightning symbol and "flashmode". Follow the instructions.
It can happen that nothing happens. Then we cannot help you further, you bricked your device.
2. After the Installation:
1. I can't control my headset with it's button!
This is a known Problem with all unofficial (and buildon-) Cyanogenmod Builds.

Code:
key 226 HEADSETHOOK
key 256 BUTTON_1

That may be done via editing .xml-files inside themes. I don't know more about that, but you may find info on the Internet
There are themes that have the clock on the bottom right corner, but they don't have lock ring.

Music player - double tap on lock
More important is how can i set to shuffle songs ?
Another one suggestion - is there chance for this blur effect in task manager or when open folder...?

The effect is probably theme - related. Look in themes/category/components/status bar
Shuffle songs via tapping on the album art in the middle of the 3 now playing screens, then it will look like this
Awesome song by the way

That's a bug i also face.
I tried to solve it via logging out my account and logging it in again. Didn't work. So I just disabled synchronisation.

After i update to 3.11.1 but its still showing 3.10.25 as current version in abour phone>MIUI version
Same here
Im afraid the multilanguage patch made the performance a lot worse
I will keep on testing, maybe I'll reset the phone and look if it gets better.
I mean there are no problems with using the Rom in semi german, but there's a resistance against that in my head, I want a fully german Rom that works fluidly even if I don't need it.
What do you guys think?
Gesendet von meinem C5303 mit Tapatalk
@madmiths i forgot to modified build.prop.
im just repo sync my patchrom, and build it
but all of the features is definitely miui 3.11.1, you can check all miui changelog here
those all feature is available on newest version of mine
@keenofhiphop
dont need to worry about that.
like i said it will be decrease your performance, it just a littlebit you almost didn't noticed that.
so if you gonna tested it, just install multilangpatch, and if you feel performance decrease too much just install the main rom again.

If you really want it to dissappear you can disable sync by going to settings -> Sync -> Enable Sync (Switch it to off).
I believe that this also affects your other sync accounts sadly (Google etc.) but it got rid of it and only comes when I try to sync manually.
Also a quite serious bug report, I got a call today, but the internal speaker didn't work for me. Not sure if I accidentally hit some setting, but it worked the second I switched to the loud speaker.

not used this rom but im guessing you would have to decompile SystemUI.apk and either make changes to the pngs (resize them although this may make the pngs too big in other layouts if they use the same ones) or make changes to the xml layout regarding this panel - eg change the dpi of the area of layout to make it bigger
you will have to play around with the pngs or the layout xml of this panel (names will vary but by opening the correct xml you will see what its about)
default setting
so recently installed this rom. And it's a pleasure. The rom looks great and works incredibly well. I started tweaking things here and there and i think i accidentally tweaked some things from the "Performance Setting". I kind of get some weird results and i just want to go back to the default setting. so can you tell me the default setting there? )) Thanks a lot. )
Do you have update for S5 reincarnation rom? Because the lockscreen and security is not working. Please Help

The double sms is due to the popup sms service... Find and Uninstall it from the system or freeze the message popup using titanium bkp.

I presume you want to format sd-ext in cwm
You need a cwm that supports this - the CWM in whitexp kernel for example does and cwm6 for cm11 does
If it shows mount sd-ext in the mounts & storage section then you can mount & format that partition
Else you could use Link2sd app to format this
