Battery life N2 vs N3 - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was the owner of Note2 before. And now Note3.
Is it just me or anyone of you agree that the batt drain faster than Note2.
I test it with stock unrooted, no additional program installed, same 4.3 stock Sammy.
The N2 is using 4.3 leak but the batt can last for 1.5day with moderate usage.
But N3 can barely sustain a half day for light usage.
Both WiFi on, both no apps installed, no root.
Anyone notice similar?

It has been reported that the gnote2 has better battery life. Still rocking mine.

Now rooted and also underclocking to 1.5Ghz max.... Still batt is crazy....
Also if BBM is active, its hogging up resource....
What's your model number?
I wonder is the snapdragon version have better batt than exynos...

D**n internet.... made double post....

Strange. In my case its 20% better. Try to lower the brightness and turnoff all animations.

http://www.phonesreview.co.uk/2013/10/19/galaxy-note-3-battery-life-results-disappoint/ I know everyone's usage is different I said that based of a test that was run.

Having owned a note 2 and now a note 3 I must say the note 2 has a better batterylife imo. Both rooted and undervolted. Pretty much the same apps as well such as greenify etc. It ain't a very big difference tho, in my case.

and not mention to memory leak.... touchwiz alone eats 400Mb RAM with 2 home pages...
And by that 2 home page, it only contain samsung's accuweather widget and S Planner widget....
So crazy.....
RAM keep floating at 200Mb....

My note 2 was def better on battery..I had to buy the sammy spare battery and charger kit for my note 3 if that tells you anything.
I honestly expected better in this regard

i dun have numbers but my usage is same, switching from 2 to 3 got me around 2 hrs of extra battery life roughly

Bigger Battery

S3 really need bigger battery..custom rom, custom kernel, supercharged, still can't handle the drain while using it.. idle, perfect, 1%/4hours drop. But once u touch, scroll, open close app, browsing in 10 minutes, >10% drop..should have 2500mah like note..

lol 10 min browsing more than 10% drain..it`s too much i get like 2%drain for 10 min browsing

There is some app that drains your battery. I can easily get 5:30 on screen time with omega. I've seen others doing better. This phone has an excellent battery life, if you know how to avoid apps with bad code that drain your battery. Download better battery stats and monitor your usage. You will find the problem.

Is that custom Rom by any chance CM9?
There are larger batteries out there with twice the original's charge. They are twice the size though and make the phone really fat.
As said above, something is draining your battery. Supercharging is really bad for the battery's life btw.

V6 supercharger bad for battery life..? Hmm.. this custom rom & kernsl is by wanam.. v6 supercharger make the ram management better, hence increase battery life..the ideal is good for me. Just the cpu i need more advance control..but custom kernel out there still not bug free..

I find it the opposite. Very good in use not very good in idle. Mine last 5.5 - 6 hours screen on time on 3g. The idle drain however is worse than any other android device I used in the past.

It also makes it impossible to use NFC as the batteries don't have the antenna. Got an extended battery from ebay, works brilliantly power wise, 70% power still there after full day of use but no NFC....

Wowzers - battery life!

Run down after first charge with all this and more :
- Ingress which kills battery
- ChromeCasting
- YouTube and Netflix
- Feedly and Chrome
- listening to music and podcasts via Bluetooth for long periods
- Reading in Kindle
- Downloading and playing with many apps
Etc
Overall I would categorize as very heavy use. I still have 15% left and I'm thrilled.

O my. I thought i was the only one that had excellent battery life. I am currently at 8 hours standby time and 5 hours of Screen on usage and have 52% battery left. I would post a screen shot before the battery is completely drained

Granted, cell radio and modem could lead to a faster rate of battery depletion. The original nexus 7 wifi only version had a bigger battery but the battery wasn't close to the results i am currently getting on the New Nexus 7. Best guess is that the new cpu chip is highly efficient

You are referring to an 8inch device with a lack luster 1024x768 screen. Being 8 inches it has a larger battery as it can fit more battery than a 7inch form factor.
iPad mini battery = 4490 mah (powers crappy screen)
Nexus 7 (2013) battery = 3950 mah (powers 1920x1200 screen)

That is outstanding. But how in the world is it possible that you have a "screen on" state without being awake?
I have been fighting battery issues for so long now, I'd really like to get to something as good as what you get...
i get 5 hours on heavy use until i hit 10 % well my setup is in my signature on light use i am sure i can stretch it to 6 hours with brightness on auto and wifi is on most of the time
battery life is never going to be better for me unless i uv. the previous setup, i used cm 10.1.2 stable with matr1x kernel. i uv and set the max cpu to 1350. it was really really good. i can use the phone from 8am to 9pm.
now currently using aosp 4.3, the default setup battery life has improved a bit compared to 4.2.2 stock, but after semaphore kernel installed and uv a bit, even with max cpu at default which is 1.5ghz, battery life has been really great.

Just out of curiosity, are in you the US/North America?
I had the same issue of losing tons of battery to the OS overnight. I reflashed to an older version of the modem. Most of the people I have seen so far with these symptoms have been in France and India. Must be something about the cell services and how they interact with the phone.
@Calebz: I'm in Ireland.
I've restarted the phone since and the battery usage is back to normal, will see for how long.

Today i got 2h 40m screen on time with some 3G and some Wi-Fi.
On wi-fi only i get 5hours max with custom kernel, under-clock to 1.2ghz and under-voltage.
Just get the Nexus 5. The N4 is almost 2 years old.
No SD card slot, its pure android; don't expect fancy ui design. Not a lot of customization like touchwiz or sense; its simple.

Stock rom 4.4.2, Xposed module and franco kernel r204
If you don't want to get a cover I recommend getting a screen protector for the front and back. This phone is awfully slippery.
I personally have great battery life from my Nexus 4. Stock, Xposed and Franco just like the previous poster. Had a vibrant long ago. If you're upgrading, you will be very happy. Of course, price would be the only reason to take a Nexus 4 over the 5, but you won't be disappointed with either.

Audio mods is a must for N4. And for battery life it isn't perfect, but still pretty good. I've usually get 3 days with 2.5 SoT (moderate usage).
