HTC One 90 days from today. Note 3? Years.
Probably by the Note 5 well have it

I laughed when I saw "Htc One will get 4.4 in 90 days" in the US. That's just plain not gonna happen. Sprint HTC One just got 4.3 when I left for this Note and At&T. I imagine it will be a while before any phone with a skin (Sense, Touchwiz, etc) gets 4.4.
Yea more then likely not until the next note comes out.

Install the Google Experience Launcher and your pretty much good to go. Most of the apk are out and about as well. I have the new Hangouts and Keyboard apks running just fine on my bone stock Note 3. You have the Google launcher installed and are not able to say the hot word on the home screen to launch a search right? That's the state I'm in but the first time I installed it I had the "OK Google now" hot words working and I could search without button pressing. The I got greedy and installed almost everything I could from the dump and it went downhill from there. Had to reinstall stock with root to get back to a clean state and now I Dont have the hot word functionality...boo

What phones? The One? Porting a rom on an S-offed phone does not count as HTC delivering 4.4 with Sense 5.5 in 90 days to all US versions. It will be impressive if it's done, but give their (and every other phone with a skin) track record, I don't see it.
AT&T will probably deliver 4.4 when Google rolls out its next version. Hell phones like the S4 and One just got 4.3 weeks ago I believe. I already have 4.4 running on my Nexus 4 perfectly thanks to the guys here who ported the Nexus 5 Build.

Hey guys,
Had my nexus a few months now and loving it.
Also have a HTC One X+ as my work phone.
Today I went to update an app on the HTC One and it received the new Google Play store?
I would have thought that the nexus 4 would have been the first phone to receive this update.
Anyone else have it (officially)? I'm in Australia, but I wouldn't think that it matters since the One X+ received it?

Hmm my Nexus 4 just got updated to new Play Store as well. Not sure if the fact it is CM10.1 affects it or not.... Singapore here anyway...
I'm also in Australian and just checked my N4 after your post to find I got the google play update today also. Have been waiting ages for that.
Yeah? I just thought that it was strange that Google didn't update their own devices before others.
Although it could just be a whole play store update regardless of device manufacturer.
P.s- I personally think that it looks like a bit of a downgrade? Very plain

I got my update yesterday and I can't get rid of it if I install the update it just reinstalls itself.
Google have taken all the bad from the old version and enhanced it, it's now 'super' jerky instead of a little. Then all the good from the old version has been thrown out and replaced with giant icons letting you see only 4-6 apps at a time. Google never learn.
Hold on to the older version for as long as you can.

Google would never do that. If there are issues they will fix them and continue rolling it out. Play Store updates can take a long time to roll out and seemingly random (not based on hardware being used).

I'm not basing the fact on bugs or issues, just purely on the fact that it looks like a downgrade compared to the old one (old now).
The old one looked very nice, mature and pleasant on the eyes.

Nexus gets Android updates first not Play updates. With 1.5 million activations per day and all those devices carrying a Play Store, imagine how many
devices Google needs to update.
To reduce load on their servers, they update devices in batches.

4.3 leaked for the nexus 4:

Google press conference scheduled for July 24th:
http://www.engadget.com/2013/07/17/...utm_source=Feed_Classic&utm_campaign=Engadget
So it appears 4.3 will be officially released on the 24th.

This simply isn't true..if you remember Google announced ICS and it was awhile before that rolled out and source was released. Then with jellybean it was about a week or two before things were updated to that. And then again with 4.2 they waited until they released the nexus 4. So most of the time after Google announces a new OS version they don't release it a couple days after.

Look at the times on shown on the clock in the screenshots on the play store. The nexus 4 and seven showed 4:20 when introduced on the play store. They were 4.2 devices. The GE One and S4 show 4:30, probably meaning they are 4.3 devices.
The nexus 4 now shows 4:23 on the primary product image. There is a shot of google now showing a time of 12:33 and weather for san francisco. It's also notable because it shows an HSPA icon and a nearly empty battery. All other screens do not show a data icon and show a full battery. The photo shown in the banner on the devices page shows a time of 12:45.

Not really fair to be honest. Every Samsung device I've had got at least 1 major update within a few months of its release. It's the the older devices, ie note 2, s3 that will wait ages or not get it. The S4 + Note 3 will get kit kat by January if history repeats. Also in the past Samsung have denied updates to older devices due to hardware limits, Google are claiming kit kat can run happy on 512mb Ram so who knows, maybe old devices might just get a break (pun intended, sorry )

This.
As always, samsung is super slow with updates, so don't bother in at least 6 or 7 months, and even with that, the note line is never the first one, so probably S4 and S5 will get 4.4 2 or 3 months before the note.
Saw someone quote a samsung rep tweet about them being more concerned about getting most of the older devices to 4.3 first. And about note 3 having to wait at least 2 months for 4.4

This is one thing, coming from iOS which is absolutely mind blowing how Samsung doesn't give a rats ass about being up to date. Why own a Android device that runs old software 1 month after buying it and not be allowed to update it.

They did sell a significantly larger amount of Note 3's in a much shorter period than previous Note devices. So who knows? We had 4.3 well before the flagship S4...
As for the N2 (and S3) still lagging behind, that's because they skipped 4.2.

To quote Engadget :
Update: There's still no official word on why this is the case, but sources close to the company have pointed the finger at a different hardware issue on the Galaxy Nexus: its Texas Instruments-built chipset. The company is out of the mobile business and as such isn't in a great position to give the support necessary for continuing OS upgrades -- presumably some of those 1,700 employees let go in the shift away from mobile could have helped. Now we'll have to see if the community can pick up where the corporations left off or if this is the end of the road for the Gnex and its other OMAP-based kin like last year's Kindle Fire HD, Nook HD and Droid Bionic.

The note 2 actually came shipped with 4.1 jb.
I don't really know about the fuzz with updates. It's not like apple pushes em out on a monthly basis, only when needed. Same for Samsung, people should stop whining about fast updates, making them work etc takes a lot of time. If they release it early and there are a few bugs people will whine about that.
If the phone works and it does very smoothly here under 4.3 why do you instantly need an update?
Sent from my SM-N9005 beast of a phone.
Could someone (in theory) create a stock google 4.4 rom for our Note 3?
I know stuff like eye detection and the S-Pen and god knows what else wouldn't work..
AOSP roms won't be out for a while until Samsung gives the community the binary drivers.
Samsung are slow at doing, only in Oct did they release the binaries for S4 6 months after release.
In theory you can download 4.4 and cook your own rom but without drivers from Samsung it won't be stable or certain hardware will not work at all.
If you want the latest and greatest Andriod then you should have brought a Nexus phone.

Cm11 kit kat was a huge improvement on my original droid razr. Ram management was awesome compared to stock. I hope samsung gets it right and it's not bogged down like 4.3. I've seen my note using 2.2 out of the 2.4 gb or ram available for no reason other than samsung apps running in the background. I know I shouldn't be too picky about it but thats also why I bought a phone with 3gb of ram so it would be a non issue.
KitKat has started release in Poland via Kies and official source code available now for developers. May be just around the corner. But we will just have to wait and see as usual.

It's not the worst. Even their latest flagship S series (since S6 isn't OFFICIALLY out yet) hasn't gotten it. Even the M8 hasn't gotten it.
Sam Mobile
It is odd that the site no longer has any firmware for our device. Just last week they still showed 4.3 as our stock firmware.

Just thought I would post that as this site claims that AT&T is rolling out the update soon. I haven't heard of this site though so I don't know if its credible. Just something I came across today that gives us some hope

"with the Galaxy Note 3 likely to receive the update ahead of the current Note 4 and Note Edge."
Translation:
Maybe they'll start rolling 5.0 out before the end of the summer. 5.1? Probably not in 2015. And by then a real bug-fixed newer version will be out. (That big pile out behind AT&T is the pile of "go backwards fast" pills they each take every morning.)
But for me? I hate Material Disgust, my phone works just fine with 4.4.2, Towel Root and SafeStrap, and I'm in no hurry to maybe update to 5 with no way to get back to 4 if I don't like 5. I'd rather someone fix the Note 4 port - that's a nice ROM.
I didn't say it was the worst against other devices, it's the worst out of all Note 3 variants.

Let us know what you think
just got the update myself downloading now.
Got the update this afternoon. Takes a while to download it but so far like the new update. Phone running smooth, no hiccups. Waiting to see what the battery life looks like.

Nothing major. You can go on YouTube and see the changes. Most of them are just design changes. Looks a little lighter if that makes sense? The way the active apps show up is new. More like a carousel. My battery drain seems to have gotten a little worse. Trying to determine if I have a rogue app or its the update. Like it overall.
