Hello,
I bought my phone brand new and I unlocked it myself using the method discovered here. Recently, I noticed that some incoming calls go directly to voice mail although I might have clear or even perfect reception. Since I live near the US boarder, switching to US providers solve this issue; I’m with FIDO and have an un-rooted stock ROM (2.1).
Thank you
no problems here in the Toronto area
not sure what you can do, it's tricky when i visit Niagara Falls, sometimes it switches to AT&T on its own (using old phones)
i'm sure Galaxy S will do the same thing like all other phones, i'll most likely just pick which ever signal is strongest
I'm having major problems with my Nexus 4 where I can't connect to any 5Ghz network. I have disabled security on the network and it still won't connect. The phone is still under warranty, but Google aren't being very helpful in resolving the issue.
They originally told me they would RMA it at the beginning of September and as I never had any info back I contacted them again, only to find out they hadn't done anything in regards to my original call and again promised me I would receive update within 24-48 hours. Again nothing from Google.
I've shown them screenshots of a Nexus 4 against a HTC One X which connects to the 5Ghz network without issues, but the N4 won't - if you try connecting it just says saved. The 2.4Ghz is working fine, it's only the 5Ghz the device won't connect to.
I have performed numerous factory resets and still the same problem. One bit of advice I got from Google was they could send me a link to downgrade the firmware to 4.2 but it would void my warranty, so I refused and that's when they said they'll RMA it and I'll have a new phone within 3-5 days, then have 14 days to return the faulty phone otherwise they will charge me for the replacement.
Has anyone had any dealings with Google in getting products repaired or replaced?
Does anyone know how to raise a complaint regarding this?
Just stick with 2.4ghz, I've never successfully connected to any 5ghz networks. I'm not sure what fixes it but 4.3 didn't fix it for me, not sure if 5ghz works for others or not.

my buddy had his nexus replaced due to random reboots/crashes after they had him wipe etc... didn't really have any issues.
my n4 (stock) has always successfully connected to my 5ghz network. have you tried switching your 5ghz channel on the router/ap? i know europe used to have a few channels we didnt have in the US on the 2.4ghz spectrum... could be a similar issue with 5ghz? just guessing. im using 5ghz channel 36 (5.180ghz) and channel width 20mhz or 40mhz.
in UK we have 36, 40, 44, 48 for indoor use - I think the phone is faulty and explained the issues to Google.
1) When factory reset device the Nexus 4 won't autmatically download applications or updates. I have to reboot the phone numerous times for them to come down.
2) When switching from Wifi to 3G and vice-versa I lose settings for some reason. So I have to reselect default for apps. For website I have to re-authenicate who I am. I even have had to reapply my Google settings for my account.
3) I've tried 5 different routers and get the same issue with the Nexus 4
4) Didn't have these wifi issues on earlier firmware
5) Even though it can see the 5Ghz network it won't connect (even when set to open) I also get this randomly on 2.4Ghz
6) Sent them images of the Nexus 4 and HTC One X side-by-side showing the problem
I shouldn't have to keep resetting the device and re-installing apps and reconfiguring authenticators, etc, etc
Yes I could root the phone, but I got the Nexus 4 so I did not have to root it and don't intend to for the time being. Google also acknowledged there is a problem with 4.3 and wifi and if I wasn't willing to downgrade to 4.2 and void warranty they would RMA the phone. Ideally I would love to get hold of a recording of that initial call that backs everything up. But all I got was a survey of which I stated I was waiting for the RMA and then no further contact till I rang them again.
What is also annoying is that if you contact them to ask what is happening because you have heard anything back, they state your ticket will be delayed by another further 24-48 hours and even if they say will contact you back within a period of time and don't it's not their problem and you just have to wait. And as I customer I don't want to hear their excuses that staff may be on holiday, off-sick, not done their job or they are busy, that's their problem not mine.
And they also said that the Nexus 4 uses different bandwidth to other devices so may not work with routers which other devices will work with. So just because other devices can connect to your 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz network the Nexus 4 won't as it may not be compatible. So in other words if you want a device that is compatible with your router before buying a Nexus 4 check that it will work before wasting your money.
So how long should a customer have to wait after logging a fault with their device to get it rectified.
you may want to call and ask to speak with a manager? i talked to my friend today and the rma was setup during the same troubleshooting call... he received the phone ~4 days later.
Well good luck getting yourself heard by Google. There's plenty of issue's with 4.3 and none seem to get attention from Google AT ALL. See my post regarding GSM issue which is also tracked by Google and seems to be completely ignored. At first it felt great having the latest and greatest from Google and not having to wait for vendors like Samsung or HTC to release their version of the OS, if at all. Now I'm not so sure what's worse, quick release but no support AT ALL from Google or slow releases from Samsung or HTC but at least get something that has been tested and have a vendor you can call...
I've been with Android since the G1 was released in the UK and have had various models of phones and rooted them to get rid of all the bloat they install. When the N4 was released I thought brilliant, good price, good phone and should get good support.
The person I spoke to earlier today was not very helpful at all, but I finally received an email this afternoon asking for my IMEI number which I had already provided 3 times to them. So I'll have to probably wait for another 48 hours at least before I get any further information from them. When I queried about making a complaint I got nowhere with them and there is nowhere on their website to raise a complaint about the service received from them.
Until Google sort this out and let me know what is fully happening I have money in my account I can't touch as I don't know how much they are going to put a claim to (ie the original £280 or the new £200) and how long I'm going to have to wait to get it back once they finally RMA and I send my faulty unit back.
@outz not sure if it's done any different in the UK. I expected the RMA number at same time as call as you do with any other company when raising an issue with faulty product with them. It seems that Google wants UK customers to wait for the same information. My fault has been logged just short of two weeks and still no RMA number as of yet.
I know a lot of people slate Apple but you do get better support from them.
update: 16/09/13 - Received another email from another person at Google advising they are taking other the issue and want to know if can start warranty replacement claim to TRY and get replacement phone.
update: 21/09/13 - Received my replacement phone today and it's working perfectly - it's running 4.2.2 and connects to 5Ghz wifi without any issues - also battery is vastly improved after 19 hours it was still at 84%
I just got a Note Edge and found out that WiFi calling doesn't work. I replaced my Note 3 with which I always had a rock solid working WiFi calling connection, using the same connection (router) at home. That old Note 3's wifi calling continues working without a wrinkle.
I already did a master reset of the Edge following the advice of T-Mobile support, and went to the store to get a new SIM card, but still nada, zip.
After a restart wifi calling connects and works for about 3 to 5 minutes before disconnecting and always showing "enabling " or given all kind of errors (ER06, ER082, REG99, etc.).
At home we also have a Note 4 in the same network, and wifi calling also works flawlessy.
Anyone else experiencing this issue?
I am having the exact same problem My wifi calling is not working and im getting ab ER101 invalid certificate error. I did some troubleshooting with tech support and they say its an issue with the phone and they are sending me a new one??

I spoke wit T-Mobile today and they gave me a different version, saying that it is software issue, so I went to the store and swapped it for a Note 4.
okay guys , I think I figured it out at least on my end I live in San Diego and I travel to Tijuana frequently especially on the weekends and wifi calling was very convenient for me but in last month or so I've been having three different error codes could not connect for the sake of me I called t mobile 3 different times and each time they say something different first time was that it was a problem on their end and and they're going to work on the issue and call me in three days which they never did the second time they said they're going to text me some software update .... never received anything the third person said don't worry they're working on it and he was sure they going to fix it I'm sure you can guess what happened there. so I noticed that everytime I try to connect to wifi calling this time zone popup would come on and asked me to change it manually bear in mind this problem only happens when I cross the border from San Diego to tj. I have no wifi problems in san diego ...so out of the blue I decided to turn off data roaming and..tada!!!!! the problem went away. wifi calling works flawlessly of course when I leave wifi area or I'm using GPS on I'm driving around town going back to San Diego I turn mobile data roaming on again but I'm glad that I can make my business and work calls from my girlfriends house. hope that this is a solution for some or temporary fix good luck. sorry for the spelling and everything ongoing speech to text while driving back to San Diego
Hi guys,
I've been a visitor of the forums over many years now. Learned quite a bit reading all these great posts.
I'm constantly changing phones but always return to Samsung. Now I'm moving from the Note 5 to the S7E.
I just picked up the S7E today and I'm very impressed. Phone looks great and is very fast. A couple of hours playing with the phone I noticed a big problem. I'm unable to make calls when my phone is connected to LTE. When I attempt to call someone it doesn't drop to 3G to place the call. Also my Internet stops working. I can't force 3G/2G and my only option is to reboot the phone. Once I reboot, I'm able to force 3G/2G and I'm able to make calls and Internet works before and after calls. But in this mode I'm stuck without LTE.
Do you think this is faulty hardware? Or should a software update fix this?
Many thanks to XDA community!
Who is your carrier and which exact variant (SM-G935T, ...935V, etc.) of the device do you have?
Are you in the U.S. or somewhere else?
If this is a carrier-specific device being used on its intended carrier's network, then this problem is something their support people could (and should) be able to help you with.
There aren't enough specifics in your post for anyone to have a reasonable shot at helping with this issue.
Also, I just noticed you posted in the general discussion forum. This post is really asking for help and would be a better fit for the Q&A forum.

Hi,
I bought the international version (SM-G935F). It does not have any carrier branding.
I bought it in Switzerland and I'm using it in Switzerland with a Swiss carrier.
Mods, please move this thread to the appropriate section if it doesn't belong here.
Thanks!

I also had an S7 Edge with calling issues (dropped every call after a few seconds, possibly trying to switch from 4G to 3G or from 3G to 2G). It turns out it was defective and the replacement works as intended.
Just did a hard reset now.
Was able to make one call. When I tried a second time, same issue. Reboot seems to allow me to make an initial call but then same issue again.
Will take it back tomorrow and hope they have a replacement in stock.
The Feature you are talking about is Voice over LTE! Here in germany this is only anabled in the branded Provider Firmwares like from Vodafone or t-mobile germany. If you have an unbranded Device like i have G635F than VOLTE is not working cause its locked! Not Sure how this works with swiss Providers. In germany VOLTE only is working with Company branded Firmware! And to be honest i am rally worried about that cause i will never use branding Firmwares.
Update: took the s7 edge back to the store and of course the phone worked perfectly. There was nothing they could do as the phone worked fine and we were able to make many test calls.
Phone worked fine during the day but when I got home the problem started again. After some testing, it seems the problem only occurs when connected to 4G+/LTE+/carrier aggregation.
Couldn't place any calls at home this morning but at work where I only get 4G everything works perfectly. Very strange.
In Switzerland I don't think we have VoLTE. When we place calls the phone drops to 3G but for some reason it's not happening when connected to 4G+.
Ill do some more testing today to see if I can find any 4G+ areas near work to test.

Same issue
Hi,
I just got my new S7 Edge (SM-935F) and I think I have the exact same problem. When I'm in the city where I live (Morges, Switzerland), I can't make or receive any call while on 4G but data works. Switching to 2G allows me to make or receive call though.
Then, when in a different city (50km away), everything works as it should be (call and data on 4G). Did a factory reset and it also didn't change a thing.
The guy from my carrier's shop (Sunrise) told me that there was a known issue with 4G calls on the S7 and S7 Edge in different cities (mostly in the canton Valais). I've also been told that Samsung is working on an update to fix it so returning the phone to get a new one would be useless. Did he tell when that would probably be fixed ? Of course not..
I hope someone find a fix soon
Looks like the antenna gate from the iphone 4 but seriously how can something like that still happen
Hi,
Looks like we have exactly the same problem. I work in Geneva but live in Gland. Today I tested my phone in Geneva and it worked perfectly everywhere while in 4G or 4G+. As soon as I arrived home in Gland I'm unable to make calls so I have to force 3G/2G in order to receive and make calls.
By the way I also have sunrise as a carrier.
Good to know that it's a known problem and that they are working on a fix. It's very annoying... Hope they fix it soon!

Same here, there is any fix?. Thanks
My husband and I both have a stock N910T. When we woke up yesterday neither phone would get signal, and not even make wifi call. Went to TMo shop today they told me that they were no longer sending signal to Note 4's (Thanks for the heads up TMo). We really like these phones and I wonder if I could root them and flash a stable ROM and get service on them again. When I pull the sim it shows 5 bars, put the sim back and X. I have rooted many phones, but not since I got this one 6 years ago, so I'm sure I'm a bit rusty.
Any advice highly appreciated. TIA
I'm in the same boat with the note edge. It stopped working friday night for me. Put the sim in a stock note 4 and same thing, so I thought my sim card died. Went to the tmobile store on saturday and they said 2 people had came in with the same issue and they had note 4s.
What I don't understand is how they can just stop supporting a phone. I thought that if it accepts the sim card and has the proper bands it'll work. I mean for ****s sake my car takes a tmobile sim for a hotspot and traffic updates.
same exact. i just factory reset and updated stock to see if it would fix but it wont. Any solutions here??
Try to:
a. flash a custom TWRP (recovery) with Odin
IMPORTANT - after you flash TWRP PLEASE TAKE A FULL BACK-UP!
b. flash a custom ROM with root
c. why root? because you can change the build.prop file and "pretend" to be another phone (newer more likely) so that the lovely t-mobile can still allow your phone to connect to the network.
This way you have zero costs, you keep your note 4.
Unless it's too complicated or the procrastination level is TDH (too damn high)
Or you have the cash and buy something new(er).
There's info on this forum about all these steps.
Before you do anything - go and read, search on this forums and on youtube. There are a LOT of tutorials.
Please be careful and READ. Get educated about custom recovery/ROM's.
You will get good knowledge and your satisfaction on make things work will be enormous.
You will be responsible on your actions with the phone.
Good luck.
mine is already rooted with a custom rom. which parameters do you recommend changing in build.prop?
my audi is older than the note 4 and data works fine and calls work on a motorola L6 from 2005, so I doubt it's the age.
someone on reddit came up with a temporary solution until they fix this. you'll lose 4g/LTE tho
To set to 3G/2G turn on airplane mode and enter *#2263#* on the phone dialer. Then select GSM/WCDMA Auto. After that turn airplane mode off.
Hey all - same issue here - Note 4 stopped working Friday morning. I tried everything on my end (factory reset, ROM flash, SIM swap, etc). I even tore the phone down and checked the connections. I ordered a replacement SIM / SD card tray reader thinking that was the issue. Now I hear others having the same issue. I live in Colorado FWIW. Calling into T-Mobile now to see if I can get some info here.
---------- Post added at 02:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:31 PM ----------
After speaking on the phone with a tech support person, T-Mobile reported that they were aware of an issue with Note 4 users not being able to access the network. They said that they "were in contact with Samsung and were actively working on an issue" and reassured me that they would have a solution for customers soon. I sure hope so because I do not want to give up my Note 4!
Note 4 user here too. This sucks. I did the workaround on the dialer posted in one of the above posts, and now it connects. Says 4G at the top, but probably only 3G. That's fine for me in the meantime, but not acceptable in the long run. I just spent 2 days wiping the phone, unrooting, etc only to find this now! Got lots of work to do to get it back to my rooted state. Thankfully I have the backups to do it, just have to find the time now. Thanks T-Mobile!!
Has anyone heard any more on this issue?
Just had the same issue. Called T-mobile support and they had no idea of a widespread issue, said it was likely HW failure. I got a new SIM and that didn't help. Called local cellphone repair shop and they indicated they'd had several calls about this issue and fixed at least one so far by replacing the card reader. I applied the workaround above and got the phone working again so I don't understand why a new card reader is going to fix this.
Note 4 seems like it's back working on T-Mobile as of last night.
HI I purchased galaxy note 4 3 years ago in the first time I put him on i has that problem yet
But I live in curacao in the Caribbean and I think that the mother board was not good.
Then I has flight to medellin Colombia with the phone he began working I was glad but when I arrived to curacao from medellin the same problem
Sometimes he is working sometime not
I have the same problem T-mobile N910T

Thanks for the update! I reversed the workaround I applied earlier and mine is back to 4G LTE now.
Any update on this issue?
The N915-T is spotty and I'm trying to figure out why. It was officially kicked off the network by T-Mobile, but it still works. It connects to most towers but not to a particular one. Whenever I'm on that block the network can not be found. If I walk two blocks away it would connect to another tower and I can make calls. If I walk back toward the 'faulty' tower while on the call, the quality would degrade, the call drops and the phone would lose signal.
This would NOT happen with other phones - not even an older Galaxy S2.
This is likely a different issue altogether, as the phone actually connects and works elsewhere. I'm just hoping someone has an idea.
