if your really desperate, you could try smashing the screen in the bottom left, which would mean they wouldnt be able to see the ROOTED, but that would ruin your whole digitiser, meaning your 'touch'screen would just be a 'screen' and smashed one at that :silly: (not recommended:laugh

You need to flash back to stock thru lgflash. When in download mode it will show rooted, run the tool, go back to download and back to stock. And under settings will show unrooted. I have already done it a few times.

Use that guide. I've used it a few times already.
Will vzw charge you full rate? I would assume not, as i can't imagine them looking anywhere else besides under settings and download mode screen.
The first time you are in the download mode it will show rooted. After flashing back to stock, go back to download mode it will show stock.

I hope not, but they'd send it back to the factory for refurbing, they do a more intensive scan, but I doubt they'd do a massive, if this is 100% legit this wouldn't really leave any trace. VS980

So does that mean that your root status in download mode has returned to normal? I just bought my G2 and I'm hesitant to root it because of what appears to be an irreversible consequence.

I think I got lucky, very very lucky. If you're worried about not being able to return it, don't root it until you're sure, then and only after you're happy with it root it.

Btw, I'm not yet rooted. I want to be sure first if I can revert the status back to stock.
Verizon warranty doesn't care if it's rooted. I've returned a grip of phones still rooted with no problems
I already returned my G2. I have no clue. Sorry.

OK, I've tried searching, but it's very, very difficult. I have a terrible eye infection and can barely see right now. It'll be a couple of weeks before my vision is better. (I'm having surgery tomorrow.) I need to return my ATT S4 due to a mechanical problem. It has the stock MDL rom, but is rooted with TWRP recovery. I used the casual method to root and add the recovery. I only have 2 days left too return & exchange my S4. Could somebody PLEASE help me restore stock recovery & unroot? I'm hoping there are simple instructions I can follow, as just typing this is difficult & painful. Thanks!
What firmware are you on? You mention mdl. If you're still on that Odin the stock firmware.
as said above, use Odin to flash the factory firmware/recovery to your device.

Yes, I'm still on the stock MDL firmware. I hate to ask this, but I really need links & instructions to everything. I'm wearing high power magnifying glasses which make searching and reading both difficult and very painful. Just doing this is a very trying experience. Normally, I'd just search & figure it out. I tried that, but it's just too hard. I'm typing with my eyes closed for the most part. I'm basically begging somebody to wlak me through this with links... I don't have odin on my PC, I used the Casual Java app to root & add recovery.

I'm truly sorry to bug everyone again, but what do I check, and what do I leave unchecked in Odin? I know it is a big deal, but I can't remember which boxes are important? I feel like an ass for not finding this on my own,; I'm sorry.

Just check auto-reboot. The file should be in the PDA slot.
Edit, when it boots you'll most likely have to boot into recovery and do a factory reset or it will boot loop.

Success. Thanks so much you guys! Back to Costco it goes and a new one in exchange in 3 days. About a week or 2 before I can set it up though...

So, I think I've bricked my LS980. Was rooted runing the stock rom happily when I stupidly accepted a LG UIUU? update. Phone rebooted into TWRP recovery and thats all it will do. Didn't make a backup yet because as I alluded to earlier, I'm stupid. When I power off from TWRP it asks to Install Supersu to gain root yet that does nothing. When I boot into download mode it says rooted on the bottom. I have no idea where to go from here. Is there even an option? I'd love to go back to stock and never mention this again... Any idea? Sorry that I suck

Any way to block update requests on stock ROM when you have custom recoveries? That would be a good idea to prevent mishaps.

When you get ota and is ready to install just use root explorer or root browser and go into cache and delete the update....then click install an it will fail or do nothing and just cancel!

Hey cmm67 I don't know if this will help you but I was trying to get my phone back to stock a couple days ago and was having trouble. Mine would stay in download mode at 0% every time until I retried the instructions for the lgflashtool. I was extracting the file into the LG flash tool folder using Zipeg but once I tried 7zip it seemed to work. Once again sorry if this doesn't help at all I'm writing this from memory (hence being so vague about the instructions) and on my phone. Hope you get it fixed!

Thanks for the concern but I've have fixed the issue since, but once again thank you.
My wife got a 64GB gold 6P a few months ago and it has had the "Fingerprint Hardware Not Available" error going on since she got it. I finally got her to call and get a replacement, and it'll be here tomorrow. The only thing they had her to do before they sent her a replacement was clear the cache in settings, and this didn't help.
Her bootloader is unlocked, she's rooted, Pure Nexus running great, but I wanted to check here before anything else, we should put this 100% back to stock before returning it right?

Yes, return to stock and relock the bootloader. (otherwise you risk them sending the defected one back and them charging you for the replacement)

No harm,no foul,we've all done similar on at least one occasion.
You're a good man for offering to help ! :good:
Any help with that?
I am also awaiting an answer.
My last 2 Samsung phones had issues and I needed to Odin back to stock for warranty exchange at T-Mobile.
So I'm holding off on rooting till we have something of the sort for the v20.
Using Odin to flash my s7e back to stock while having severe screen issues saved my butt.
I'm on JoD for reference, and needed to switch phones at a brick and mortar.
Side note : loving the blooming development for this device.
Thanks for that, all parties concerned.

Does this unroot method work for the sprint variant? I am stock unrooted on the build the phone came out of the box with, and waiting until rooting isn't a one-way street to take the plunge. If it does, are you 100% certain that it had been used in sprint v20s successfully?
That thread specifically says H918. So no.

Here's hoping it's taken care of. Sprint didn't used to be such a **** when it came to bootloaders. Anyways, I appreciate all the hard work the devs have been doing. Can't wait until I get the chance to experience it. With a stable 200mhz overclock, there's no functional difference between the snapdragon 820 and the snapdragon 821.
Do any of the posted methods work to restore the VS995 variant to stock?
I really want to go ahead and root it (and yes, have disabled updates so still run 12A since I knew VZW was going to be evil and patch it) but I'm very hesitant to do so without a way to restore to stock. Is it one of those things that's just a matter of time, or is there a substantial likelihood it may never be possible?
