Hey everybody,
I haven't seen a thread about this, so I figured I'd post it. As you can see in the link below, our beloved XT925 in Canada and Latin America is scheduled for a Q1 2013 release. So I guess we will have one more month to go.

Heh, I was told by my dealer that it'd be the end of November for the JB upgrade, then mid December, then late December, now Q1 which means as late as March. Yay Motorola! Nice scheduling!

Dumped htc for saying an update would be released by certain time then waiting months...now with samsung they release an update in a couple of countries yet us in the UK still waiting a month later...? Why.??? Even my unlocked, unbranded note 2...!!!?????

I'm on the same bandwagon. Don't worry. Samsung is a lot faster with updates than HTC. So I think you've picked the right company, but the GENERAL rule of thumb is that you should buy a phone and be happy with the software it comes with, and don't expect it to be updated. Regardless, Unlocked N7100 from Germany DBT and still nothing. I bought it based on the Note 1 which ALWAYS got the updates FIRST from DBT. Now other countries have received their update and I haven't yet. Oh well. I'm still terribly happy with this phone and software! I can't say that the update will make it much better xD It's fantastic just the way it is, but I'm an update junky! haha. So just sit back and relax It'll come.

i love my GN2 but Samsung is a S**t company when it comes for updates, they never say anything what changes are made on Updates and they only do updates only in few countries which it barely sales the phone and not to the countries which they sold most
Tell me which phone manufacturer announce exactly when updates come? Moto is even worse based on ics update. When I got the phone it was mentioned all over the website promised ics update.
Then after almost a year they release a schedule for update which promises q1 2012.. End of q1 2012 came and all no update. A month later announced q2 2012. End of q2 came and gone. A month later the update finally came for me. At that time the is still many users without ics. Even today not all received their ics.
Btw the ics update made the phone laggy. Full reset removed the Laginess for a week or so before it came back. Don't tell me it's an app I instants because the only app installed then was line, whatsapp and tango. And mx player.
And this is supposed to be a ics phone. But quirks much better in gb.

In general, updates are delayed by carrier testing, so they can make sure it causes no issues on their network, but it takes even longer for unlocked/sim-free phones as they're tested on many more networks.
However I will say that if you're so adamant on getting updates ASAP you bought the wrong phone, the only phones you should look at for that are Nexus phones. Even those can have their updates significantly delayed by carrier testing though.

My point was the fact that the official update was released in a few countries about a month ago and yet nothing in the UK..? And yet Samsung has already started going on about the next update to be released in jan/feb !! We need this one first please..!!!

I don't really buy that story. For carrier phones yes but what about international nonbranded phones?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
I'd imagine that Samsung are doing a pilot release to a few countries first. If no major issues are reported then they release it to everyone else a short time later (like a month or so).
Makes sense really when you think about it, IMHO anyhow.
Btw waiting for the update here in Ireland too if it makes you feel any better

As the title says read here. Only 6 to 8 weeks.
S3 users have to wait till january!
It is Optus so there is a chance we'll be waiting until then also. My old Incredible S' ICS update was pushed back by months.

Motorola is by far the worst company on bring updates on time...in fact some updates never come, like ICS for Motorola Atrix (I´m still waiting for it). So I rather wait for some weeks than never get the update.

But this is the date the carrier plans to release the update, it's not on Samsung's side. So if they plan to push the update on December the official release from Samsung (unbranded devices) should be before that. November?

Exactly! It must be at least a month prior to carrier update because carriers have to customize ROM with their wallpaper, bootanimation (at least) etc. And since we have new leak, I am afraid we will get nothing new (camera, etc) since there is not enough time... Let's just hope I'm wrong
I would stick Clear of any Optus Firmware it's over bloated with very nasty apps – that install before first boot. Horrendously ugly custom app icons. In fact Optus 4.3 vs. Official Stock 4.3 is using over 330MB of RAM usage out the box.
I hope note2 get 4.3 official release this week

So excited!

I think Note 2 will not see KitKat, the JB 4.3 update arrived very late and the device will dead on it.
It's frustrating my Kies keeps telling me it's downloaded the latest update as I bootup the laptop, sadly it's the 4.1.2 this is a worst tease than than hearing about Kitkat
Alan
So we can expect 4.4 cust rom for note 2
Sent from my GT-N7100 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I remember reading on an official Samsung notice that the note2 will be updated to at least 5, which was expected to be released in October, but 4.4 arrived in its place.
4.4 is designed to work on lower spec devices, which should free up some resources to allow for the resource hungry note 3 apps to be ported over. so 4.4 certainly WILL make an appearance on the Note II. and a high probability of at least one more update to 5.0.
then we can start threads crying about the lack of ported apps from the note4 and note5....

no, we all will be killed by a knoXII when 4.4. arrive. there will be no devs who can develope custom rom of it. Only people with stock rom will be able to update only stock 4.4.

Judging by how they bungled 4.3 (the S3 update was pulled and the Note 2 update put on hold in the UK) I wouldn't hold my breath. My contract will be up for renewal in February and I'll be off to another manufacturer.
This was my first and last Samsung.

More than enough. Even phones with 512mb ram can handle 4.4 so there is no excuse. The note 2 can handle 4.4 without any problem but if samsung will update it only time will tell

Only good thing with Nexus phones is that they get updates first, nothing else. The design, hardware etc is so boring and even the screen is useless.
