How to erase phone and keep root - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm selling my note 2 and I did a full wipe in recovery then installed stock with rooted but when my phone rebooted my accts.started to come back on. How do I stop all this and erase all of it from my phone?? I've searched but can't find it .

Not sure, but did u want to ask this in a Note 2 forum instead? A lot more note 2 users on xda than note 3 right now.

Brick try out

Hello,
As I can change my note easy ( corporate phone ) i make a couple of test this afternoon trying to help the devs :
- ICS chinese repack, flash new ICS with mobile Odin, No boot, stock in samsung, wipe partition, wipe data wipe cache wipe dalvik. .. Phone restarts no CWM available ( strange ) . Flash CF kernel with mobile odin. Everything ok CWM back
- Over original ICS flash CM9, flash CF kernel no boot still recovery. nandroid backup of chinese leak and working as usual again.
- ICS chinese Repack, flash GB straight without changing the kernel. No boot. wipe everything. Boots normal. Restore nandroid backup to ICS no problem either.
So two possibilities I am the most lucky man in the world ( I doubt ) or the brick only affects to some phones don't ask me why. ..
If any dev wants me to run a particular test, let me know ;-)

A brick scare is not a reason to ignore XDA rules. This belongs in "General".

nothing developmental bout this thread...request for move from mods...
You could do one more test for me, drop it from ten stores building. You want to test if that will brick your lease phone?

I don't see a single reason to respond like that, but ok ... no problem with me as long as you jump with the phone
Perhaps pm chainfire and entropy.
If you are determined to brick your phone keep flashing different leaks if your counter gets to 100 we can assume your phone is immune
Fyi many of us flashed many (to many) times and got lucky but I personally will not flash another till we have confirmation of what phones are safe.

Of course I will not recommend any to do it. This is a test phone and sometimes they get brick ... So all good. Probably just a random brick and when it have to happens. . It does.

QUESTION: TWRP and Clockwork for Verizon Note 3?

Just wondering if the T-Mobile TWRP I found for the note 3 will work on the Verizon Note 3.
I don't want to mess anything up...
Hope to be able to get this soon...
Thanks
To answer your question, No.
We need a bootstrapped recovery. It'll probably be a while before that happens

Nope...we don't have an unlock bootloader. Also, add a question mark to your subject line so it doesn't look like we have recovery. Thanks.

Kingo root

So what do those of us who used kingo root do now that there are security risks?

Download the Root de la vega package.
Put your phone into download mode
Click the ONECLICKBIN.EXE file you extracted
Once it reboots to Galaxy Note 3 screen pull your battery
Boot phone into Stock recovery
Wipe/Factory Reset
Reboot
Your done. Back to when you first bought it style.
Thats exactly what I did.

Advice on selling Note 3

I am going to sell my Note 3. It's currently running Jasmine 2.4.1 . It has never been in for warranty work, original from release day. So my question is, would it be better to return it to stock or leave it with Jasmine. Thanks for your help.
Where do you plan to sell it? Since you are on Jasmine, there are likely quite a few people that would like to get their hands on it since the latrst atock is unrootable.
Same thought here. I would leave it as is and list it on Swappa. Just wipe the phone from the settings menu and you should be set.
I just bought a rooted Note 3 from eBay for $159. I was watching a couple other rooted phones and they both sold for about the same. There doesn't seem to be much difference in price whether rooted or not. You just have different type of buyers interested. I swapped the board into my housing as it was in better condition. I expect to get the same price for the unrooted phone.

So if I wipe it from the settings it will basically go back to stock Jasmine, keep root and remove all my information? That was going to be my next question on the Jasmine thread.

Sorry for the late reply, I haven't been on in a few days. You probably figured it out already but when you wipe from settings or recovery mode it will reset your phone to whatever current ROM you have installed. If the ROM is rooted root will remain installed. It will be just like when you first installed the ROM.

[FIXED] Soft-bricked Note 3 LTE (SM-N9005)

When I turn my phone on it goes into boot loop. I tried accessing TWRP but it's not good either, it would just show the startup screen and nothing will happen. I don't know how this happened because my phone was working perfectly last night before I slept. I didn't charge my phone so when I woke up the battery was drained. So I plugged in my charger and turn it on, it'll just go into boot loop just like what I said earlier. Please help. I have read that I should flash stock through Odin, but where can I find it? Please help. Thanks!

Thanks, I actually know that I have to go to that site to download the firmware, I just needed some confirmation haha! But this here is my real (stupid-ish) question, is it possible to recover/access my data? Will it be lost after flashing?
When my device was bricked a bit times... I flashed the firmware and all my data wasn't lost it just changed the system and did not delete any data... But make sure u only flash the firmware version that was present before u bricked your device....
MOST of the times it doesn't delete any data☺

Oh that's good to hear, but what do you mean by flashing the version that was present before I bricked my device? How will I know what version was present before?

Okay, thanks! Well, I have a custom ROM before and it's version is 6 the stock firmware available is 5. What will happen then?
@leosrw It works now but unfortunately I lost my data it asks for a factory reset so yeah they're all gone. Well, no worries, they're not that important anyway. Thanks for your help!

Yeah, I think so too. Well, I'm fine with loosing a bit of data. They're mostly backed up anyway. Well thanks for helping me. Now, I know what to do if there'll be a similar problem in the future. Thanks!
