Hey guys. So I've been reading on how to flash to CM mod, and I'm getting confused on what needs to be done. Is there someone that could help me via PM or chat? I've never done a phone flash before so I'm utterly newbie on this. My phone is the D800. Let me know.

look in g2 android development just over 5/8 down the page is root your g2YAY! - I would do a bit more reading first and if you root make sure you have a recovery twrp or cwm and make sure to back up before changing anything its really worthwile reading up on the subject as you can get yourself in a mess if you don't know what youre doing its quite possible to flash back to factory but that is another story not very hard but read read read before doing anything

Starting off, I'm probably posting in the wrong section. Excuse my forum etiquette, but I need help with this because I'm insanely frustrated and in pain (Decided to learn how to exploit the android OS while recovering from my surgery).
So, if you've read past that first part and are still willing to help, thank you.
Moderators: If you absolutely need to move this post, please move it to a section where it will actually get attention and I can get an answer. Thanks.
Anyway, the breakdown of my problem is this;
I wanted to root my new day old Sprint CMDA Nexus S, I've never rooted anything android, and if anything the most I've done with a droid OS is installed it on my old iphone 2g.
So I did some googling and first thing to come up was this guide:
nexusshacks(dotcom)/nexus-s-hacks/how-to-root-nexus-s/
Now, usually I would do a bit more research, but because of the lack of blood in my body I'm doing dumb things, making bad decisions, whatever.
So obviously this guide doesn't work, even a quick skim of the comments shows that, I try to follow this guide-
I followed step "fastboot flash boot rootboot.img" then tried to reboot. It freezes at the google boot logo. This is where I start getting a bit nervous because I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing.
So I think "Well, if I jump over to someone elses tutorial and do that it should overwrite any "root"ing data I've tried to put into the device.
So I jump over to this:
androidadvices(dotcom)/root-sprint-nexus-gingerbread-235-update/3/
It has me install PDANet and it's frozen since on the installing PDAnet to your phone.
I just want to get my Nexus S back to original factory default so I can start fresh from there without a terrible guide.
Can someone please help me get there?
Thanks.
tl;dr:
Bad guide soft bricked my phone and I want to restore it to factory defaults

Ok I can see you need help but I am inclined to warn you instead. Stop. If you cannot figure out how to root the easiest phone to root then you shouldn't be messing around with your phone. You will end up screwing something up, won't know how to fix it, and come crying here for help. Do yourself some research before you go and ruin your phone.
Yes you posted in the wrong place.
There is a thread in this forum on how to root the nexus s 4g. Rooting is model specific. The T-Mobile Nexus s is different from the sprint, att, Rodgers, o2 etc.
Please please do some more research!

Thanks for a reply, and I understand I dug a hole.
Now I need to get out of said hole, so if you had any directions of how to dig myself out, that'd be great.
if you can get into fastboot then you are still cool, if not you're gonna have to odin it. I dont actually know where the tar files are, Micheal posted it up but i think they deleted the thread. You should have came to xda first,we have one clicks.
actually rooting is the same across the board. same steps same everything... in fact the one click root version 1 would work on any and all of them, version 2 branches out a bit further due to that it installs cwm.
anyways boot into fastboot, download stock fastboot images from petes thread found here http://wonderly.com/bb/CRESPO4G/OEM/GRJ22IMAGES.zip and flash them all in fastboot.
youll be back on stock grj22 but youll at least be booting.. from there follow a guide for rooting this phone that has you flash cwm (not a prerooted kernel). or be lazy and use my one click root
You sir are a class act. We need a ton more guys like you here at XDA

Hello all, I did a quick search and did not find an answer, so I apologize if this was asked already. This is sort of a 2 part question.
First, I wanted to try out the official 4.4 on my D801 so I used THIS file to update without loosing root access. The only loss is it takes away your TWRP. Is there anyway I can get a recovery installed so I can switch between stock and custom? That would be awesome.
If its not possible, is there a way for me to downgrade so I can use ROM's again? I know its easy with a .kdz on a PC, but unfortunately (I really mean it, this sucks) I have a mac.
I really appreciate any help!
Thank you!

Im already on 4.4 though, so Im more or less stuck then. I dont have a PC to downgrade with. Im on mac.
I have been trying for a week to get this pacman aio rom ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2667834 ) to actually work on my Samsung Galaxy S4 SAMSUNG-SGH-1337Z . I don't even know how to install clockworkrecovery on it either ! If someone can please tell me the steps on how to do it and I'll gladly do it.
TL;DR I dont know how to put 4.4 kitkat pacman rom on my s4 and i need to learn how to install clockwork recovery mod onto it too.
Stop what you are doing. You are making really really big mistakes.
The link that you posted is for a different device. It's for the Moto G. If you flash that one your device, chances are you can trow your cellphone into the bin.
Second, you don't have a standard S4, you have one from AT&T. You are in the wrong part of the forum.
I think untill you stop making these basic mistakes, you should stop trying to flash. Browse the correct forum for you device, read and learn. If you keep going this way then you end up with a bricked device.
Go read the threads in this part and learn the basics: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att

No you don't. You need to read how to root, how to install a recovery. Then you can start thinking of flashing roms. Do you know for certain that Pacman is available for your device?

ok i have recovery now which one do i pick in the link i sent
I would pick the latest nightly.
bump
use ATT's CWM or Cricket's TWRP, or even International. Ive tried all of them and they work. The only one that wouldn't stick was ATT's TWRP. it looped into odin mode. Get Cygwin to convert any .img to tar. I'll explain how if you need any help.
Hey guys.
I know this is a lot of ask and maybe even impossible, but I've messed my phone up pretty bad and it's being sold tomorrow. Accidentally tried to update a a rooted device and its stuck in TWRP bootloop.
is there anyway someone can send me a D803 Telus stock 4.4 rom? Or how to get one? the "go back to stock" thread is confusing and the host site to download all the drivers is down at the moment.
thanks, sorry in advance. lol
Wow. How lazy can you be? Go back to stock thread got super easy since a new, easier to use tool has been released.
Also, had you bothered a little bit with searching, you would have found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451696
Hi i own the galaxy s4 i9505, which is on stock firmware etc, ive rooted my phone and im trying to get a custom rom, however everytime i go into recovery mode i see the dead android guy with a red exclamation mark in a triangle and it wont install a rom, ive tried using triangle away but that isnt working can anyone help please?
I think i triggered knox aswell
Ive searched high and low across the net with no joy.
Thanks guys.
Great forum btw.
You need a custom recovery
Sorry i asked jesus.
Eh? I provided you with the exact answer you needed, which is - you need a custom recovery (to flash custom ROMs)
@DSA: You provided him the answer he needed, but it wasn't the answer he wanted to hear. Thus the ungrateful and snide remarks, as if being snide was somehow magically going to change the correct answer.
@mortalwombat36: We don't spoonfeed here. Not only do you have to read things to know what you're doing, but you also have to understand them as well. Snide remarks and childish insults won't get you anything but a lot of people laughing at you.
