Any news when Verizon Note 3 users can use Band 4 LTE? - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

my current coverage of LTE in NYC sucks big time. Opening Band 4 should be helpful.

Waiting here as well. The thing is, in my office, the row of cubicles to my left and two cubicles to my frontc in that row, has excellent reception. .. Just my luck.

How to get T-Mobile network working on GT-N7000 galaxy note

Hello everyone. I been using the international galaxy note ever since it came out. Still using it here on T-Mobile edge network. I head that its possible that the unlocked galaxy note can also use T-Mobile 4g now. Can anyone please give me some more info. About it. Is it actually possible ? If it is how ?. Plz need some help. I'm paying for 4g but stuck with 2g on my lovely note.

T-mobile is "refarming" 1700 and 1900mHz frequencies, so as I understand it, 3G and H+ speeds should be available for the GT-N7000, and iPhone, in your area soon. I was assured it would be working while at the store today when I got a new SIM for mine. (Given that I was getting the SIM and service for the H+ speeds, I can't imagine the reps there would be misrepresenting what's available). I'm still only getting an E, but I may not have the right radio/modem firmware.
it has nothing to do with your radio or your firmware.... the radio for 1700 has not been successfully cracked yet so it is all up to tmobile... if they told you its on in your area and youre still getting edge its probably something you misunderstood or was told wrong... either way they are adding the 1900 freq which is in the international 7000. the key word there is adding. now tmo has stated they want it to be across the usa by the end of the year so take that how you may... so far they have added cities to the list that have been turned on to the 1900 freq... i believe you can find where has been and whats upcoming from either the tmo website a free call to 611, or a trip to a corporate store....
so they have heard right to a point... just in a few areas so far... soon to be more... we hope...
Just a "note" to say don't give up hope. I've been waiting forever and getting by with a combination of EDGE on my Note, or putting my SIM in a TMO GSIII to get HSPA+ there. Last week I bought an international Note II which has the same 1900 3G band as the Note 1. I was literally on the day where I'd have to decide whether to keep the Note 2, or return it and wait for the TMO version to get 3G. That very night, I got home and found EDGE totally gone. No data at all on the Note 2. As I was calling TMO to ask what was going on (and hoping beyond hope it was refarming) the TMO site serving my house flickered its refarmed 1900 3G on for a test. I couldn't believe it. It felt like Christmas!! I got speeds of over 7Mbps on my first tests. I sat there running speed tests instead of going to sleep lol. Alas, the 3G was gone by morning and for a while even EDGE was gone, but it came back later in the day. That was Monday. Since then (now Thursday), 1900 3G has been going on and off on more sites around my area. It's working fairly well at my work right now, but comes and goes now and then. They are obviously preparing my area for a proper switchover which, given the amount of testing they are doing, will hopefully be soon. I've gotten 12Mbps on a couple of daytime speed tests! Anyway, the fact that it seems imminent for my area, pretty much cemented my decision to keep the International Note 2 GT-N7100. I guess the moral of the story is, TMO are definitely working on it! I'm in the Chicago north west suburbs BTW.

Yup we just need wait... I was getting HSPA in some area here in LA and its looking good can't wait to be completely rolled out.

Second the airportal link. Some areas have a lot of 1900 filled out already... where are you located OP?
i thought i would bump this old threat instead of opening a new one. im in nyc and tmo refarmed their 3g in december last year. just wanted
to see if there were any success stories as far as using the n7000 with the new refarmed frequencies. many thanks

Hi,here just south of Chicago I started getting 3G and HSPA+ around 1st week in January on T-mobile on same international version GT-N7000. It's not consistent but in areas around my job I get 3G solid for whole day. Also wanted to add Zedomax. (HighOnAndroid). just relased Youtube video that T-mobile
is updating to 4G LTE in certain areas. Waiting anxiously, just hope my note is capable.

I have been getting 3G and H+ signal on my N7000 for about a week now here in Bellingham, WA. But where I live in Blaine, WA I am still getting 2G signal. Hopefully T-Mobile will get it working in Blaine soon. It's only about 12 miles from Bellingham.

Anyone missing LTE

For those that had LTE prior to jumping ship to the Nexus 4 are you missing it? I mean I currently have the Iphone 5 through AT&T with LTE coverage and I must say it does feel nice be quickly stream video instantly life for example Youtube videos don't buffer at all for me. I think that is the only negative thing for me in regards to switching over but I would like to hear from anyone else as to if its LTE really a game changer or have or have' got used to live with out LTE anymore.

Well from what I have heard LTE works with Nexus 4 on AT&T but someone can correct me on that as I'm up here in Canada. I have noticed a big diff in streaming and what not but my speeds on 3G were manageable compared to what I hear ATT 3G is like?
Plus those with their Nexus 4 on T-Mobile's HSPA+42 are getting close, or even higher than LTE speeds so they're not entirely unsatisfied. I personally don't have LTE, but those are just my 2¢

What I have read so far that LTE is only available if you live in an area that has AWS band 4 for AT&T which in my case I don't live in such area so no the nexus 4 might have an LTE chip but is half baked so this is why I posed the question as to those who would be leaving LTE behind for the nexus 4 are you satisfied with drop in data speed?
Phoenix, Raleigh, San Juan, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Oklahoma City, Dallas, Chicago, Charlotte. Also Athens, GA and College Station, TX.
This doesn't mean that AT&T's Band 4 LTE network is actually live in these markets.
LTE tariffs in the UK are a joke. Loads of money for tiny data caps. I am on unlimited data 3g and I regularly top 20mb down. Happy as Larry.

As I'm on wifi 99% of the time I rarely use LTE on my Rezound. Only thing I did notice is that when Verzion updated the towers in my area for LTE I finally got decent reception in my house.
I had a Thunderbolt when Verizon's LTE network went live so I was one of the few that got to experience the 50mbps speeds before the network was as big/full as it is now.. And really T-Mobile HSPA+42 in Chicago isn't the worst thing in the world. Hell I was getting by on AT&T GoPhone speeds for a while.. It really isn't a huge deal. Also AT&T band 4 LTE is only confirmed live in like, Oklahoma.

Very very poor reception with brand new Note 3 in my house.

Just bought a Galaxy Note 3 with Verizon and the signal was pretty good until I got home.
I've been getting 1-2 bars on 4G LTE, (Which is 10-15% of the time). A good 20% I have 3G with 1-2 bars.
The rest of the time I do not even have 3G.
When i have 4G LTE the speedtest is 1.37 down, 0.20 MBps up. When I have 3G its 58 kbps down and 208 kbps up.
Completely baffles me.
Signal strength is -99dBm.
Any suggestions? I'm about to go return it and go back to my Galaxy S3 with US Cellular.
I'm not sure I qualify to post in this thread, but I am in a similar situation.
Bought a Note 3 (SM-N9005) in Europe, Romania, running on Vodafone. I have noticed weird signal variations in places where my old Galaxy S2 had no problem, both at work and at home.
Signal reception would drop from 1-2 bars HSPA+ to no signal at all, when my Note 3 reads as not registered on network.
Signal strength varies from -75 dBm to -110 dBm (when I'm close to no signal at all). I have baseband/build number N9005XXUBMJ1.
Have even contacted local Samsung office and they suggested I simply factory reset my phone to try and fix problem with poor reception.
I have googled this poor reception issue and so far found that people are complaining about it only in the USA. Maybe as time passes and more Note 3 units are sold, more people will report this.
I smell a modem update coming sometime soon because I am also experiencing worse signal than At&t in the Philadelphia area(data and voice) where Verizon holds the market share for towers around here, and there's many of them...

Thinking about returning/exchanging mine. Seems to have gotten slightly better the past few days, but still poor compared to my note 2. Thinking about taking it back to Verizon this week. Anyone know how the return/exchange process works? If I exchange it and still have problems then what are my options? Or if I return it do I get my upgrade back? Can I then repurchase it and have another 14 days to test and potentially return it?
My Note3 signal is poor too (much worse than my 4S) .
The signal and reception is horrible and comparable to my samsung galaxy nexus. It's disappointing.

+1 mine hasn't gotten any better and I'm hoping a software update helps a bit. The good news is that it only affects me when I'm in low signal areas like my home(especially downstairs) where I constantly lose service completely and have to wait and hit resend when sending texts. With my thunderbolt and Note 2 I always had at least one bar of 1x or 3g. Disappointing
Sounds like I'm not alone. I didn't see this thread earlier and posted my own. My experience is pretty much what you guys are saying. As long as I'm in a good signal area everything's fine, but when in low signal areas it's in and out, if at all. These are the sane areas where my Note 2, Razr, Bionic, etc. all worked fine for calls and even had data to some degree.

Hi is the Samsung note 3 poor reception a 4.3 issue?
I'm pretty sure that Verizon has improved the reception with the MJE update... I haven't had any issues since then.

MJE fixed the issue and my Note 3 signal is almost as good as my Note 2 was...still sad tho because the Note 3 should be better in every category and its not.
Yeah signal and radio hardware needs improved by Samsung considering they are the biggest phone manufacturers.

Also still have my reception issues and dropped/missed calls. I will likely send it in under warranty sometime next month and temporarily use my old thunderbolt. I would just purchase the Note 4 first but I'm holding out for the Note Edge, hope Verizon gets it by November.

[Q] anybody having weak radio reception?

Coming from a Motorola RAZR, I had LTE and 4G in a lot more locations than the Note3 is getting. Sometimes I even lose signal completely while it's switching towers. My RAZR never had this issue.
Is the antenna just weaker in the Samsungs?

That's disappointing to hear. I love this phone but if it can't do basic things that i'm accustomed to, it's frustrating. what good is it if i'm in 1x or 3G when my 2 year old RAZR was 4G in the same locations.

Had a Razr Maxx about 8 months ago, beginning to miss that part too. Can't use wifi because of the unsolvable multicast packet wakelock/drain. In buildings where I used to get 2 bars 4G with the Note 2 its now either 2 bars 3G or 1 bar 1X if I hold the phone at the bottom (where I think the radios might be). Needless to say I pay attention during the entire class period now.
Does anyone know of a good app to refresh the network. I used to use fresh network on my rezound but it force closes on my note 3.

Living on the edge of 3G coverage...when I say edge I mean 5 ft behind my house I would drop signal on most phones. 2 bars and no dropped calls or failed to send texts I would get with the old S4. So im getting great reception.
I spend time in a remote part of north Idaho. I get 1 bar of signal, no 4G, and limited 3G (instead of 1G) when I am lucky. I previously have chosen Moto phones because of the weak signal in that area. I bought a Note 3 fully prepared to return the phone in my 14 day window and swap for the Droid Maxx if necessary. I have been pleasantly surprised with the quality of the radio reception. It is on par with my previous Droid Razr. I have no complaints.
I've noticed my N3 gets poor or no 4g reception where my Note 2 got great 4G. I also noticed it would be on 3g when I know there's 4g in the area I'm in (e.g. highway), and I also found that if I disconnected data manually or made a call and disconnected (which also disconnects 3g), sometimes it would find and connect to 4G.
I hope this gets fixed in a radio update

Signal strength horrible
Just bought a note 3 coming from a droid Bionic and original droid before that. The signal in my building is not great but my Bionic rarely had a problem with 4g. The note 3 is dropping to 3g and I have even seen 1x (haven't seen that in years). Data doesn't work half the time at work and that is an issue. Since I haven't had a Samsung before does anyone think this will be fixed? I did the update yesterday and was hoping that was this fix but nope. I was tossed between the note 3 and the droid maxx( for battery life). I still have a week to switch (for a fee of course) but the phone is awesome. However I can't live with bad reception. Does anyone have a comparison with the droid maxx for reception?
Thanks for the help.

Well ill go first

Damn messed up the title lol. If a mod could change that to LTE-A
So that is in PA
BAD ASS NOTE 4
Been hitting 60+ in sw Houston area. 80 max. But consistently 30+ easily the last few days. Used to be 15-30 maxing out out at 40.
Southeast Hou. Im at 13-14
Honolulu here. 34mb DL. 12MB UL.
I live in Anaheim California which is on the list but am only getting 28.33 Download & 3.50 Upload, no difference from what I was getting when the Note 4 first came out
i would think this would help more with consistent speeds vs everyone getting higher speeds. Im sure if you are connected to the wideband lte you would see higher speeds during non peak hrs but i can definitely tell the difference in peak hours vs non peak hrs in ABQ NM. Ive seen as low as less than 1mbps down due to congestion and no, i wasnt throttled. Around 11pm, my speeds would jump up. It basically forced me to use my wifi at home due to such low speeds. Hopefully the wideband increase will help clear up congestion as the faster people load/download their data...the faster they can get through the pipeline allowing for a smoother flow. Considering youtube would stop qrtr way through the video due to buffering... i would hope this would fix some of those types of issues.
How do we know we are using LTA? Do you get a symbol on the phone? If so what does it look like? Screenshot maybe?

This is what I'd like to know as well. According to "LTE Discovery" I'm on Band 4 right now. The linked page shows that my city should be LTE-A active. My speeds haven't changed even a little. Mid-teens down, a handful up.

Just type *#0011# in the dialer. When it is conection to band 12 you are on wideband.
Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk
Do you have to update modems or something to get it? I've been rooted since new and never took any of the updates.
I haven't seen anything other than band 4 locally.
This is the best I've done in town, but only the downtown area gets 4 bars. I'm usually 2 or less around most of the town.. This is versus what I typically get around my house.
When you go into the service menu by dialing *#0011# on the first line you will see Band 4 BW: 15MHz. When you have a connection of 15, or 20MHz you are using wide band lte.

This is correct. This is like a 4 lane highway instead of a single lane. This also includes the lowband spectrum 700mhz it baught from Verizon which is band 12. Band 12 is what travels far and through buildings. You might even get signal in an elevator because of it.
