There are only two forms of kernel.. JWR and JSS. most recommended would be Faux, franco Hellscore.. See the ROM you are trying and accordingly flash the kernel.

this is not the truth, this is only your opinion, nothing more.
every device reacts differently with every kernel. therefore it is best to try as many kernels as you can to find the kernel that is best with your personal device. one person say that xxx kernel is the best, another says that yyyy is the best, but in reality there is no best kernel. anyways, these what are the best kernel/rom threads are not allowed on xda, as "best" is an opinion not a fact.
There is no "best" ROM/Kernel threads allowed on XDA, reason being is whats "best" for you may not be "best" for someone else . Head over to the development section and see which "best" suits you.

Hi guys.
I'm in a great dilemma right now.
I like TW but almost all custom kernels are giving me reboots every now and then. :/
Right now I'm using Adam Kernel which doesn't reboot on me, but I need more, like voltage control etc.
So I'm considering either using an AOSP or Google Edition ROM.
Because there are TONS of ROM's out there I'll need your help.
I'm looking for a ROM which:
A) Is completely stable and has little to no bugs.
B) Is not lagging on games, because I game a lot on my S4.
If I'm gonna use a custom kernel I'll definitely need another ROM.
Also I don't care if it's 4.2.2 or 4.3, as long as it's stable and get the job done right.
Anyway, can you suggest some ROM's based on my needs?
Thanks!
Anyone?
Come on, just post the name of the ROM if you're bored!

Best Kernel/Rom threads are forbidden on XDA , this will get closed soon.
And if you can't handle any kernel without reboots except for Adam Kernel (which is pretty much stock) then that tells me your cpu cant handle undervolting mate
Omega if you want a stable TW experience with some customization, MIUI if you want a completly new and awesome experience but can tolerate some issues popping up.
I run MIUI atm

First of all, this isn't a "best rom" thread, this is a thread for suggesting a good rom based on my needs.
Also I've had reboots without undervolting so your argument is a bit invalid I'm afraid.
Anyway, If you're not going to help I'd suggest you stop spamming the thread because I'm aware of the xda rules.
Thanks.
Echoe or WanamLite.
Have tried a quite a few roms atm using echo rom and ausdim v11 kernal. Stable fast and great battery life. GE roms are great. I recommend reading through the threads and choosing the first thing that grabs your eye. Enjoy

Guys, thanks for the help but I'm on Omega and don't want to switch to another TW rom.
I'm looking only for AOSP/AOKP/GE ROM's.
Thanks!

A "pick the best rom for me" thread is still a best rom thread. IBTL

This is still a best rom thread no matter how you try to sugar coat it,

I got fed up enough from roms, and I don't want the message delay in the JWR builds in stock...
So my question is what is your opinion of the best builds?
New isn't always better (credit to HIMYM)...

best rom threads are not allowed on xda. you have to try out the different builds and decide what is best for you. every device will react differently, and every user has different needs, therefore there is no such thing as a best rom.

There are a tonnnn of JSS roms, why don't you flash a few until you find one you like? Start with page 1 of Original Android Development...
Hi,
I am using GE v15 rom. I was wondering which kernel is good for 4.3 on the latest firmware.
What is the advantage/disadvantage of the stock Talop 1.3 vs Abyss 1.7.1F ? I am mainly looking for performance and battery . More emphasis on battery though.
Any useful input is greatly appreciated!
You should just try it for yourself what works the best. Every kernel has it's benefits and disadvantages. It comes down to user preference.

I am asking for people's experience with the usage of the aforementioned kernels. Just asking for general opinion regarding it. Of course, I am aware of individual's preference, and of the cliche "nothing is best" .
Read post 2
/end thread.
Is it really so difficult to try kernels for yourself?

I have had this phone since release and have been flashing ROMs and Kernels to it from the beginning. I mainly bounce on the ROM side from ParanoidAndroid to SlimKat to Purity. I tend to use either AK as a Kernel or a variant of Hells. I want to flash a ROM and Kernel combo that I can stick with (until I grab a Nexus 6 that is). I only need 3 things from any STABLE ROM / Kernel combination but they are non-negotiable in no particular order. Smooth performance, battery longevity and optimal audio quality. I would like whatever combo to be specifically geared towards that if at all possible. I am a junkie / flash addict and need this viscious cycle to end! Haha. If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much in advance!

Simpleasop(stock kernel is stunning too or else go for ak or hellscore) is the answer to all your OCD's.

yes.. Inbuilt kernel is good. or try ak.
Awesome. Thanks for your help. One last thing. Do you have any custom settings for the AK Kernel I can use? I see a lot of people tweaking and optimizing Kernels but never have myself. Perhaps you have something you could share. Anyway, I'll flash your suggestions in a day or two and let you know how it went.

What ROM did you flash exactly? There are lots of AOSP-based ROMs out there.
For kernels, in my opinion, stay with the default one of your ROM as it's the most compatible. If you want to flash other kernels, search for them using XDA search function. Visit those kernels' threads and read comments there. Try them and decide which kernel is best for your use case.
Cheers! :fingers-crossed:
