Hi all,
*
I have got a Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 running MI8, so I have a knox enabled bootloader. (counter is 0 right know so waranty is ok)
I'm fed up with TW so I would like to try a pure google edition rom (the one proposed by Jamal) but I was wondering whether it is possible as my device has knox already.
*
Assuming I dont mind triping the efuse to 1, is it feasible ?
anyone ?

To put any custom Rom you need custom recovery and this leads to Knox things
yeah I understand I will void the warranty but will that work ?

I use my custom ROMs MGA and GE like others here on my last MJ5 Why not become ?
armonten might
I thought you can not not flash a MGA ROM once the bootloader has knox
So I can install any custom rom even if I have a knox bootloader?
In the knox thread they state once your bootloader has knox you can't downgrade or install what you want.

You can flash any custom rom that you want. You can only not flash certain stock firmwares. So yes, it will work.
replying to myself, it works !
thanks everyone, and thanks to dev's for their wonderful work

This KNOX thing is creating too much confusion. Somebody please clear it. Some say that KNOX won't allow us to root ar flash custom kernels n roms. Some are say that KNOX bootloader can be replaced. I am using GT-I9500 (4.3 official, MJ8 build number, not rooted), which i wish to root. What should i exactly do to get rid of knox?
Please help. Thanks

I too am confused with this whole Knox stuff. But from my experience, you can Root and install custom software but it will void your warranty. I'm not sure if it's any different on the 9500 as I've got a 9505 but there is currently NO way to get rid of Knox, once you've got it, you're stuck with it.

you can root after upgrading to knox
you can also install a custom recovery
knox counter (which is not really a counter if my understanding is correct) will increase to 1, meaning you will loose the waranty
so I was running the last S4 official firmware, I root'ed it using CF auto root, then installed philz touch recoveryn than i flashed the goole edition rom from jamal
and of course I lost the waranty, hope I wont need it

Hi mate if you dont see any knox warranty void 0x0 0x1 in download mode. Means ur still on old bootloader and thats a good sign. Turn off your phone manually and press power+volume down in order to reach download mode to check it out.

I apologize for bumping this, but I am on stock 4.2.2 rooted right now and I don't have this knox warranty in download mode. It only says my system is modified and TringleAway can solve that. Does this mean if I update to 4.3/4.4.2 then this flag appears? Because from what I've read there is no way to downgrade to older bootloader/reset the flag to 0.
Hello,
flag in the new bootloader change only if you flash a kernel or a recovery stock.
For the root, it's possible to keep 0 x 0
But if you upgrade to 4.3/4.4 the new bootloader appears
Sorry for my bad english
So as long I stay on 4.2.2 they won't know a thing? I am not in hurry to flash a custom ROM, but I'd rather not deal with this KNOX crap.

As long your not flashing a stock 4.3 and 4.4.2 your fine. If you are still in 4.2.2 feel free to flash custom recovery. Root.custom rom. And if you got any problem feel free to flash a 4.2.2 stock rom. Make sure to backup first. Have a nice day.

Thats what I wanted to know. Thanks. Makes me curious if stock 4.3/4.4.2 would work with old bootloader or if Samsung requires it seeing as custom ROMs seem to work with either of them.
Hey do u wanna trade with me your s4 xD. I'm already with knox 0x0 and 4.4.2

I heard about Knox after I updated to 4.3. I probably won't buy Samsung phones any more.
Hello guys,
I’m aware this has been discussed many times before, but this information is "old" most of the times. My Galaxy S4 (i9505) is now running stock Touchwiz Android 4.3 (i9505XXUEMJ7).
What I want to do is the following: flash my phone to a i9505G, but with some research I've found that that isn't possible. Are there any other ways to get the clean i9505G 4.4.2 ROM without any changes (like root) on my i9505? (I know there are much custom ROM's, but if possible I'd like to keep it "stock".)
Since I'm running 4.3 with Knox I'm a little scared about the Knox 0x1 status, is this already "resolved" or will this still be a problem?
Thanks.
Broodplank's AOSP rom is the way to go:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397511
You still need to flash a custom recovery to flash it, though. I recommend CWM. Simply works.

Thanks for your reply. Rooting and flashing a custom recovery shouldn't be a problem, however I'm still a little worried about Knox, there simply isn't a way to reset it after it goes to 0x1?
The HTC One can be "changed" into a HTC One Google Edition: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2358781
But as far as I can tell this isn't possible for the Galaxy S4?
As far as i seen, once you flash something with odin, your knox flag gets changed. However it's not clear to me whether it changes the warranty actually...

It's not just the warrenty I'm worried about. If I want to sell the phone later I want it to be fully working, I assume with Knox 0x1 Knox isn't working anymore?

In theory every non G device can be converted into a G device if the hardware model is the same but in practice is not always accomplished 100%. The problem here is Knox, for waht I understand it has 2 layers: The knox bloatware that comes stock on sammys ROM and the off rom portion included in the bootloader. The bootloader is basically what the system loads up first
. so it can't bypassed. So to kkep it simple, if you flash ANYTHING (not sure however if re flashing the stock original ROM activates the flag) on the knox bootloader (AKA: new bootloader) the ''flag'' will change to 0x1, this flag is called eFuse so basically 0x1 means is burned and it can't be changed ANYWAY. If you don't plan to use your phone for work you shouldn't care about the flag.

1. It isn't clear if Knox 0x1 voids warranty or not.
2. If you have Knox 0x1 your phone will work fine, but you won't be able to use Knox security enhancements.
3. You can't convert the 9505 to the 9505G, the Google Play edition has different bootloader, modem and pit partition.

Thank you very much! That was very interesting to read. I personally don't care about Knox, all the Samsung bloatware is the main reason I want to have stock Android on my S4.

Thanks for the information. I see there are many custom roms which are very close to stock Android, that should be fine as well.

Sure, but the 4.4 roms (Google Play) have one main issue, random reboots.
Hi all,
I'm looking forward to the new kitkat version of Touchwiz, but I'm worried about knox warranty. If I were to flash a 4.4 ROM (and more specifically, a Touchwiz one), will this set off the flag? I currently do not have the Knox warranty as I got the s4 when it first came out but I'm worried if i download later versions of Touchwiz I'll somehow get the Knox security along with it and set it off.
If anyone could please clarify this it would be greatly appreciated

If u upgrade ur android with 4.3 then with the update u ll get knox bootloader with it. If u r on 4.2.2 then u may install ur preferred custom rom (if it does not have knox included).

Ok so I got my galaxy when it was on 4.2.2, but I currently have Cynagenmod 11 (meaning I have 4.4.2 atm). I checked download mode and I have no knox bootloader, so does this mean im safe to download any 4.3/4.4 custom ROM as long as it doesnt state that it will create a knox bootloader?
For example, what if I were to download omega (the kitkat version) or a kitkat version of samsung's Touchwiz?

hay' i have note n910f with stock rom but no samsung rom and now i want to change it to stock from samsung.
if i will burn via odin stock rom did my knox flag will change to 0x1?
sorry for my bad english and thank's to the helpars.
Yes, flashing anything via Odin will trip your KNOX flag to 0x1. If that was the question..
@quadlt
Your answer is wrong
Stock Rom means original ROM.
Did you have a original Note 4 with original Rom?
Did you flash anything before?
If you're device is untouched, you can flash ANY original Samsung ROM via Odin without triggering Knox to 0x1

Yip flashing stock ROM with ODIN doesn't trip KNOX
I dream of a root who doesn't trip knox...like the note 3 had....I"m pretty sure it will come soon...

rom for SM-N910F
Hi
I just bought note 4 SM-N910F and i came unrooted with vision-x n4 ROM. The problem with rom is that the finger print does not work and there iss no data usage. When i boot(from the first time) on the upper of the screen there is written : Kernel is not seandroid enforcing
set warranty bit: kernel. Searching on the web this shows from the bloatware as there is a custom rom. I used sam moble to find the firmware but dont know which one i am going to download. Searching the APof the cureent firmware it corresponds to the t mobile variant (sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-N910T/TMB/) firmware. Can someone help me which i have to choose. Attached there is the the curent CSC.
Did anybody try to flash stock firmware? did it trip knox? I have seen different answers to this question so want to be sure. Another thing is the flash counter that will definitely change and that does void warranty if I'm not mistaken? thanks
Ok, I say this one and for all, I burned stock with Odin and it doesn't trip Knox flag on,it safe.
