Hi Guys,
I was wondering if there is any app that would allow me to remote control my android from my PC when it's connected via USB, etc?
I have a few repetativ things that need to be done that may take a couple of hours on the 'droid which using a keyboard and mouse for would probably speed things up significantly.
Cheers

Hi, may be with adb connect IP (wifi)
or try WebKey app from Market
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.webkey

Remote Control Add-on may be much simpler. And you can integrate it with Remote Web Desktop for more features, such like desktop SMS, file explorer, FTP, etc.
https://market.android.com/details?id=net.xdevelop.rc
https://market.android.com/details?id=net.xdevelop.rm
That's fantastic! if only it was possible to do with unrooted phones. (Half the reason I'd love it is to assist / support others who are new to the phone
the best one ive found is this http://www.unifiedremote.com/ simple fast and can use anything ex shut down, sleep, WMP ect really good

There's now an Android version at MyMobiler web site.
(Yes, I know this is an old thread but it's what came up near the top when I googled 'Android remote control'.)

Try LANmote, works over WIFI
https://play.google.com/store/search?q=lanmote
your solution ?
For me it is myPhonexplorer:
It is a great applikation: Work on USB, WIFI, Bluethoose
You can organize your contacts, Task, Calender, Install Applikations, transfer files, Jobmanagment for Backup Files, Screen Remote !!, Sending SMS form PC, Lotus Notes + Exchange sync ..........
For me the best and it's free !
i use it same years
a nother good Tool is Total Comander and Android ADB 5.6:
so you can:
- Apps management (Install, Uninstall and Backup your apps)
- APK icons and metadata with custom columns
- Backup and Restore on ICS
- LogCat/BugReport/Dmesg (Copy file from folder), Shell
- Reboot menu with (Reboot, Hot Boot, Recovery, Download and Power Off)
- Screenshots (Copy file from .screenshot folder)
- Multiple devices with device rename functionality (friendly name)
- Bookmarks and WiFi auto-connect
- Rooted, semi-rooted and non-rooted devices
- Full unicode support
- x32 and x64 support
- TC command line integration
- Background copy/move
- Owner and Group custom columns
- Full file system management (download/upload recursive directories, copy, delete, rename, move, edit, view, overwrite confirmation and more)
- Copy/Move between 2 devices
- Set/Get file attributes/permissions - Change Attributes action in Total Commander
- ADB USB and wireless ADB (no need to install Android SDK)
- Auto mount support
- Debug logs
- Rich settings
TeamViewer is actually quite nice. I don't like how the free version times out after a while and the first tier of a paid version is over $700.

Could always try AirDroid?
Can't include outside link as under 10 posts...
VNC is good
Seems most people here are missing the OP's question
There are a lot of responses to this person's question (albeit, an old question) that are totally missing what he wants to do.
he wants to control his phone FROM his PC. Half the apps mentioned are remote control (like a tv remote control) app for your phone that control your PC.
second, apps like Airdroid are NOT the solution he is asking for. Airdroid is not a "remote control", it is a "remote management" app.
the OP wants to send the view you see as you look at your phone, to the PC, so that it can be manipulated with the keyboard and mouse.
For those that have used teamviewer, Logmein, VNC, .. you know what what I am talking about. This is one of those things that I think many people have a hard time understanding until they see it. For the longest time I could not get my parents to understand that I could SEE their screen on my PC as if I was sitting at their PC..
For the OP, or anyone else who is finding this thread on google, there are a few options and they all seem to need root.
LANmote
VM VNC Server
android-vnc
VNC server (by wencent)
VNC Server Ultimate (might support non rooted devices)
If you own a samsung device, you can use the official team viewer app, it works flawlessly (I use it to support my parents and their GS3's)
If you start your google search or market search with VNC SERVER or similar, you will be off to a good start.

I am trying to support my Mom who has an unrooted Galaxy Note 2. Can I use this TeamViewer app? Everytime I look at it, it looks like it is Android >> Windows not the other way around. Hope you're still watching this thread.
After trying out most of the note-taking applications and not finding something that suits my needs, I'm submitting my wishlist here to get the expert opinions available in this forum (this forum is a major reason I bought another HTC phone!)
Ok, I'm not after many bells and whistles, but the below are what I'd like my Note Taking app to be able to do:
Offline usage must (so current Evernote offering doesn't serve). Not everyone is online with fast enough internet access, all the time.
Save notes (not just backup) to a SDCard folder - so that I can sync that folder myself to my desktop PC if the app doesn't have that, using wifi+ftp.
Save notes in a Desktop editable format (but not in a browser window - I am still not very much a webapp person, and I need offline access to my notes). Rather a much desired setup would be a Desktop counterpart of the same app with sync (like is the case with many WM apps).
Notes on this - Can we only have Text-only notes? I don't think rich text editing is too much to ask, but does Android support that? I've not seen any note taking app do that (but then how do the word file editors work?).
A well-implemented search function that covers all notes... incremental search too much to ask?
Either tree-like or long scroll like (a-la evernote) structure to organise notes, instead of a simple list.

That's what I can think of at the moment. Am I asking for the moon here, or is this available somewhere I didn't look?
Any help would me most appreciated.
Thank you
I agree with you on these. Everynote can be used offline, though, it just won't sync, of course.
Something I've been looking for, and hopefully someone knows of an option, is an app that does speech to text, but also records the voice memo, so you can correct any mistakes the voice recognition made, and things like that. Sort of a dictation and speech to text mash up?
I have read all the previous posts on trying to find this to install it. I posted the question by mistake on accessories. Anyway, this is one answer to finding it someone posted.
"Try to install manually from: Asus Sync: confused:??? where is Asus Sync???) dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/EeePAD/TF101/Utility/setup_1.0.40.exe MyDesktop_SplashTop: "
Now could someone explain that to me in plain
English. If this is supposed to be a web site, there is no such animal. It looks like a program to me as it is executable, but pray tell, if so, where might one find this program. (a link would be sooooo helpful)
Could someone who is much more computer and Android literate please break it down for me. Is this software (PC Suite & Sync) supposed to go on your Windows PC as well as your Asus Transformer? Is there an actual website? I have been all over Asus web sites and can not find it. I would be most happy to install it, IF I COULD JUST FIND IT.
Please someone give me step by step instructions on this, as I am about to throw this Asus Transformer out the window, and I don't want to do that. I know it is my ignorance (or at least I think so)
I see many have posted this same question, so some good soul who knows his/her stuff, please help the rest of us out.
SplashTop App
Asus Web Storage App
Asus Sync
These are the three apps that the downloader is suppose to install. I had the same issue as you but I found another post on here that listed where to find them on Asus' site, so just saved them in Dropbox so I won't have to worry about it. Hope this helps.
It confused the hell out me too. I run linux, which pc sync doesn't support.
I wanted to see if it was actually anything I needed so I installed all the drivers and downloaded the PC Suite (which was only a few KBs when I downloaded it for some reason) and it wouldn't install, so I downloaded just the sync app and installed it. Even though all the drivers were installed correctly it still wouldn't connect, I eventually find out it was because I had ADB debugging enabled on the TF, once I disabled it, it connected fine.
Once I opened it, it was just as I expected: pretty worthless. It allows you to sync your contacts and calendar from the device to the computer (which is kind of dumb considering all that is synced to google's servers, so there's no real need to sync from TF to PC IMO) and to install apks that are on your pc to your TF.
What I was really looking for was a way to put my music and pictures on there, but couldn't find a way. I found out that you have to use a music player such as winamp to copy your music over, you can't simply drag and drop.

You could setup a ftp server on your asus TF and upload it via ftp client on windows/linux/mac.
I'll probably end up doing that. My friend introduced me to File Expert (which you should totally check out if you havent already) which has built in web and ftp servers. Best of all its free!
Could always use Wifi File Explorer as well
Market Link for it
Thank you for your responces. I got them loaded now. Only problem is I can't
Transfer contacts. In Asus sync cause it won't recognize transformer device. It is there when I go into COMPTER along with my other drives. However whenever I open Asus Sync, it is darkened and you can't highlights or checking anything.
You need this: Samba Filesharing by funkyFresh
I called mine "android" and I have read/write access from my pc to my trans at \\android\sdcard
To save space just use Audiogalaxy for music. It doesn't get much simpler and you can stream your music from anywhere.
Now that you've rooted your NookTouch what do you install onto it?
I've been trying out loads of apps and I've found plenty that work well but also quite a few that make a lot of sense on an eink ereader.
First the ones that I personally find very useful and match the NookTouch well:
1) ReaditLater: Let's say you're browsing on your laptop while eating your breakfast in the morning. You don't have time to read it now so you click a button in Firefox or whatever and that marks the page. You then hit sync on the Nook and you can then read that webpage on the Nook at work in your lunchhour or whatever. I've only checked out ReaditLater and it doesn't always sync all images properly and css styles... is there any alternatives... perhaps opensource?
2) RSS Readers. Subscribe to Slashdot, sync while at home and then read it on the move. Can anyone get the ability to read the more interesting comments?
3) VNC Viewer. Eyes go squiffey after reading for hours on the ipad or computer? Setup a quick link to this.
4) MapDroyd. No GPS but having a map with a long battery life might be more useful than a mobile phone. MapDroyd isn't that great without pinch to zoom but it works.
5) Kindle. Being able to read .mobi is obviously pretty handy.
6) OperaMobile, connecting to a Caliber server. Caliber organises books really easily and it has a server function so you can connect to your library on your computer.
7) Dropbox. A really handy way to share and sync files to the Nook. Can act as a library but unlike the Opera & Caliber example it can sync rather than only viewing live.
8) There's more than ebooks. Check out VU Viewer for comics. Various better PDF viewers. Try putting work documents on it. Try putting guitar tab notation on it. Anyone know how do we view music notation?
Things that are pretty essential after rooting:
Startup Auditor. After installing a load of stuff things can startup at boot and drain your battery. This prevents that.
n Button tweak. There's a thread on here somewhere, it's almost essential. Either that or use buttonSaviour
Some things that work well but just as good on a mobile phone:
- WiFi Analyser. You can see wifi strength in realtime.
- calculator. Handy if you don't have a phone with you
- unit converter. Convert metres to feet.
- currency exchange app. If you take the Nook on holiday a currency app is handy.
- encrypt your passwords in a file.
- backup your mobile phone contacts
- ssh tunnel for open wifi networks where you need to check your bank balance
Hope you find this useful!

Jago:
What apps are you unable to block with Startup Auditor?
Does Startup Auditor stay loaded (as an app or as a background process) after startup or do you have to kill it manually?
Thanks in advance,

As far as I can see StartupAuditor doesn't load on startup or stay resident so I presume it edits startup scripts.
You have 2 options for each thing you want to kill - kill it now and not allow it to start again now and block it from starting up on startup as well.
Hi everbody,
I've been using my transformer for about a month now and all in all I am very happy with it. It has been rooted and Custom ROMed since day 1 and I got a big amount of apps on it.
As I use the transformer mostly for things I did with my regular computer, it has now come to a point where I find the transformer a bit too less integrated with my android phone.
With my regular PC it's been a one-click-action to send my current browser window to the phone via "Chrome2Phone" and vice versa with "2cloud".
Now with the transformer I have to use a chat app or twitter or anything alike to transfer the links to my phone. It takes a little to much effort to open the chat app, open the message, click the link... you get the point.
But instead of searching for a solution limited to this particular problem, it came to my mind, to ask you, how you "connect" both android devices to get the most out of it:
How do you get the best symbiosis-like experience out of an Android Tablet together with an Android Smartphone?
I'm not talking about having contacts in sync or tethering the phone to the tablet, it's more meant like the above things...
Maybe how you accomplish having apps and their data in sync, easily transfer things back and force from phone/tablet,
make notifications appear on both, have ringtone settings, locks, themes etc synchronized, have the same media on both devices, have a permanent dlna server on one of them to be available at every time, use one device as the input device for the other and so on.
Please think about everything that connects both devices in a smart way. As you can see I'm suffering from a lack of ideas considering how to make most use of my devices.
Is there a way to make an app bought/downloaded from the market on the phone automatically appear on the tablet and vice versa?
I hope we can collect a good collection of input, app recommendations to get more out of our great devices.
I am happily waiting for your answers,
thanks in advance
modmatt
FYI: My setup consists of a Transformer 16gb wifi on the Revolver ROM and a Motorola Defy with CM7.2.

How about a Samsung Galaxy Note? http://www.samsung.com/global/microsite/galaxynote/note/index.html?type=find
EDIT: it's a 5" (or 5.3 maybe?) tablet/phone combo. Supposed to be able to fulfill both roles.
I have my tablet using my phone's internet when I'm not at home, I have my contacts and calandar synced on both and have a dropbox account. I also have the app Tablet Remote which isn't as I would like it yet but currently does allow me to control my tablet with my phone and vice versa.
I use my phone for music, texting, reading e-mails/news on the go and my tablet for when I settle down. I'd say they're working pretty well as a combo.
@Mutnat Isn't that a bit too big? I mean 4,65 inch is also enormous but it seems it's getting bigger and bigger!
By using more cloud services (Dropbox, Cashbase, etc) and using Tablet Talk for SMS stuff -- works waaay better than TexTab or Bluetooth SMS.

Likely, yes. Too big for a phone, too small for a tablet. But having never tried one, I can't say for sure.
First of all thank you for all the answers!
The answer from No_u is pretty much what I expected to read
Thanks to Spidey01 I learned about a new cloud service to manage my expenses.
I already read about the shared text stuff beforehand, but unfortunately most of my mobile to mobile communication has shifted to Whatsapp and while there is a solution to run Whatsapp on the tablet, it adds more conflicts, as the tablet left at home with wifi permanently connected catches all those messages I'd rather get on my phone.
Concerning the Samsung Note I go with Mutnat. But it's definetly not an option for me as I prefer to have to separate devices.
One thing I'd like to throw in is Skifta, which is a fairly simple DLNA Server/Client that can be run on any android device. Start it on the phone, start in on the tablet and watch all your phone photos on the big screen.
Still curious what others do, so keep the thread going
Nice Weekend for all of u

I'd recommend TabletTalk over Textab..
Cool thread idea. Hope we get some more responses coming in.
I've been playing with Evernote and it has some sync-between-devices features.
Box.net is great for cloud storage and with esfile explorer, you can view the contents as an on machine folder on android. Gladinet has a free program that lets you mount cloud services as local folders. Add foldersync from the market to android and you can sync cloud folders to all machines.
Not ideal and not the continuous client you're aiming for, but helps keep the folders (pics, documents, movies, etc) in Sync.

hi,
he I use DeskSMS for SMS on Tab ...
Work in 3G Wifi ...
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
on exactly what you want, no, i have never seen and dont know. but if you are willing to make an app that collects this data and sends it to the likes of box.net or dropbox and receive it and open on the other device would be good.
Apps like Colornote, Astrid and Evernote sync so quick notes on the phone end up on the tab and Google Voice works on the tab too. I use that number for text messages.
I have found twonky mobile very good for sharing media between devices.
I recommend Google Chrome as your main browser so that you're synced across all your devices. However it works just on Android 4.0.
I'm using so a GNEX, a linux PC, a Windows PC, a Windows laptop and my Transformer and it makes life a lot more easier.
In addition I recommend Google Music makes the handling with Music over multiple devices much easier.
And last but not least Google Docs for documents.
The only thing which I'm missing is an app which gives me the possibility to sync all my ebooks.

I've been using Aldiko and Aldiko Sync. The pro version has an automatic sync to dropbox. The great thing about Aldiko Sync is it remembers where you left off reading and saves that state, so when you switch devices you can immediately start reading.
