Hello, i have galaxy s4 with android 4.2.2.
The issue is that when i am holding the phone with one hand i cant reach the notification bar which in th top of the screen. it is due to the screen size ofcourse.
I heard that there is feature that i can swip down anywhere on the screen and the notification bat rolling down...
i search alot for this feature but unsuccesfull.
If anyone know about this feature please let me know

All the Galaxy S series and NOTE series phones has that feature built-in. (no settings you can change)
Just swipe your finger down anywhere below the center of the screen and it will work great.
It's possible that you are using a launcher which has an option to change the
default swype down to some other action and that's why its not working for you.
Give it a try, good luck!

Try nova launcher. This allows you to setup gestures such as swiping down anywhere for the notification bar. However, this feature is only available on the home screens so im afraid it won't help if you're in an application

Hi friends
Im gonna post a link to a video of the galaxy Note and from 00:56 to 01:05
you will notice that a nice looking chick is holding the Note on the lockscreen,
and it appears that there are some apps that appear on the bottom, right about
where the dock would be if the phone was unlocked.
Does anyone know if this is actually possible on the Note and how?
Im not refering to apps that customize the lockscreen because this
doesn appear to be an app.
I personally looked into the settings but had no luck.
Im guessing it was only a pre-production thing or else I would have found it.
But then again Im no expert...
Anyone with knowledge on the matter, please share your lights
here is the link:
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xk...tablet-phone-the-galaxy-note-geekbeat-tv_tech
just found another one
I just found another video that shows the apps on the lock screen
and a couple more on the top right of the screen.
Where the heck are these options??????
link:

I have this feeling I've seen that screen elsewhere before... I don't have my Note with me, but if you check under the stock Clock application, i think the rightmost tab has something that has shortcuts on the bottom and top right like that?

What a goof I am!
Thank you both.
You're both right!
This obviously happens on the dock or if you choose this screen from the standard clock app.
Thanks
That is the Clock mode. Just enter Apps/Clock =)

Oh well, Galaxy Note DID have a lockscreen with app shortcuts like sense 3.0 lockscreen up to version JHA. Later on, Samsung decided to take out this feature....maybe for patent reason?!?!
What a pity! It was one of the reasons for me to buy the Galaxy Note!

I would only use a lockscreen app that doesnt interfere with the home button.
I paid for Lockmenu Pro and my money went to waste because the app interfered with the home button just like a launcher and there was no option ti cancel this. Pressing the home button once while the phone was locked, and it unlocked! Called my boss at 1:00am while in my pocket!!!!
Does widgetlocker mess up the home button?
it's not the desk clock, on the desk clock in the top right hand corner there's an expand/contract button, whereas in the video that button isn't there
I just updated my Nexus 7 to Android 4.2 JOP40C and it seems the very handy rotation button in the notification pull-down is gone. No quick settings either, it's just all gone.
Is it really just gone?
Is there some way to re-enable it?
Why would Google do that? Particularly after enabling home screen rotation in a recent update.

The buttons you're looking for can be found in the new pulldown with 4.2, you can find it by swiping from the top down with two fingers, or by swiping on the right side of the screen. I think.
does the launcher auto rotate when in landscape now?
Oh! Swipe on the right side of the screen does it. Like on the Kindle Fire. Thank you!

If you have rotation enabled and as at least 4.1.2, it does.
Indeed the top right corner swipe does bring quick settings but there's no way i can bring it with two fingers :-/
it might have been removed from final release. i tried and tried with fingers near, far, (wherever you are), but no way.
ps: i'm on a nexus 7

okay but how to customize them i have stock ones and no rotation with them
Have the same issue - no rotation-lock button in the quick drop-down, so thanks for pointing out the quick settings.
Does anyone know how to revive the little icon that should appear next to the date in the drop-down with a non-rooted N7?
Thanks!

Hi you all!
I'm so disappointed that after months there's still no stand-alone app which is able to pull down the notification bar and the quick settings of my device since the Lolliflop upgrade. I've downgraded once (was forced to upgrade again), contacted developers, today Samsung's customer support. What's left to do? Do I really need to downgrade once again? Is it really that hard to write an app like this?! Where are the developers?! Please help!
Many greetings

My suggestion would be factory resetting it.
Is there an app that does this on kitkat? Can u point me in the right direction?
^Search for these terms in the Play Store and you'll find them pretty easily.

Unfortunately they don't work in landscape mode for Note edge. .. [emoji20]
Any ideas to fix?
Really? Well, in landscape mode you can reach the status bar anyway much easier.

Not on note edge... there is no status bar in landscape mode....
This is good because space isn't wasted when for example u r using navigation...
But it would be good to be able to get notification bar down from the edge so that location can be turned on quickly when using navigation...
Thought this app would do it... but only works in portrait.
Can't you just swipe down from the top? What am I missing?
This: one hand use!

Swipe from the middle right edge to the center of the screen and back. It should shrink the screen for one hand use.
Thank you, but I know this gesture already. ?
Conceding defeat on this one. ...
I have the key features I need as shortcuts on an edge panel instead.
I am glad the status bar is hidden in landscape mode. .. means more usable screen area

Doesn't Nova Launcher do this? I have it set that I can swipe downwards anywhere on the home screen to bring down the notifications panel.

I haven't tried this specifically... but not sure it will work when the edge is at the top in landscape mode.
Have you been able to do this on the note edge?
It seems as if the edge blocks the notification panel coming down. ... no matter what app tries to bring it down.

Ah, I see. Sorry, I'm on a standard Note 4 can't help you there
But you could download the free version and give it a try, you never know.
EDIT: Just to confirm it DOES work in landscape mode on the standard Note 4.
Try this app, you can use it to customise the buttons or enable swipe actions to open notification bar etc

Works when edge panel is at the bottom. .. but not when edge is at the top.
Is there any way show the notification panel by swiping from the bottom of the screen instead of the top(default)?
basically is there anything that will allow me to view the expanded notification panel without having to pull down from the status bar?
You haven't gotten any responses because it isn't possible. End of story. New to Android?

Nah but upgrading from a galaxy s4 that has been on 4.4 for 3 years(custom rom) With the new galaxy, its harder to reach the status bar when using one hand.
I agree with you with this one... The navigation bar is a bit of a pain to reach, Although pinning apps to edge bar seems to work OK for me.

then use the one hand operation to make it easier. that's what it is there for. tap the home button three times. that will make the screen smaller, and easy for one hand operation. if you don't have it setup, then go into settings, and advanced settings.
You should try the notification edge panel I bought it straight away then i realised I could of bought the edge notification panel from playstore with the reward app I had.
No way to move the notification pull down itself, but using Nova Launcher Prime (the pay version), you can set up a screen gesture to open the notification shade. You can assign to a downward swipe (starting anywhere on the screen), or a double tap, or other options. Unfortunately, I think this only works from the home page, not from within another app.

Yup. best answer!
I've been using this for years. Still not the same as having a smaller phone though.
Swipe down for notifications, swipe up to sleep.

I should have posted an update but found a work around.
Using All In One Gestures app, I can swipe up from the home button and it will expand the notification panel. This works in any app unlike the Nova option.
Hi, you can use fooView, it allows to expand notification just pulling down the floating icon down, and other actions like back, home, recent, etc. with just one hand.

Hi,
I'm wondering if it is just for me or the swipe from the middle of the screen to reveal the app switcher got removed from Android 11? Even the tutorial shows that it can be used.
Does any of you face this issue? I really miss it.

Try swip up from the bottom and stop in the middle
But it used to work without going to the bottom bar, at least for the home screen. It was much more convenient ?
It's working fine for me?
