Hey everyone,
I am Francesco and I am new to the forum so I apologize if I am posting in the wrong placing or else...
I am a a Galaxy Note fan. I had the Note 1 and now have the Note 3. However, what I loved the most about the note 1 was the S memo app, and in particular its on screen widgets, which, differently from what happens with action memos in note 3, could be of more sizes, you create many off etc etc... I realky dont understand why Samsung would get rid of the S memo app and I am personally trying to get it back.
I tried installing the apk... I can create widjets but the app doesnt actually work.. any tip? Maybe rooting the devicd? I'd do whatever to have S memo back!

The GN3 is my first note, but have you looked at both the Action Memo and the S Notes apps? It seems like the features you described are closer to S Note, but maybe I am misunderstanding you.

The S note app comes really close but doesnt offer widjets for a single note to be looked at directly on the screen and thats what I used to use s memo for.. I am tempted to dowbgrade to the note 2...

It's not widget. It's the Action Memo that you can open directly from Air Command when you detach your S Pen (if you haven't disabled Air Command in Settings).

I need some help. I am an ATT Note user and I live in Chicago. I notice when other people have Notes and always try to talk with them. Today I was about to do that when the man moved his hand and I noticed that he had a large physical button and two virtual buttons on the device. I looked at it for a while and finally asked what phone it was. He looked confused and said it was the Note. I asked if it was the Note 2 and he looked shocked and said, "umm, I dont think that's out" then he looked away. He was a normal middle aged man in casual atire. The phone had no 4G, but he had wifi on (probably a mobile hotspot). Does anyone know how the heck he could have gotten the phone. The only thing I could think of is a big time executive, but there would be no reason at all for him to be in my neighborhood and on the bus.
I know you can not see anything in the picture, but I can prove my point. You CAN see the samsung logo on the left side of the device. His hand on the right is covering the physical button. If this was the Galaxy Note the screen would not turn in that direction (unless he was rooted) . I know it's a leap of faith but I promise there was a physical button and that is the Note 2.

I'm sure there are plenty of phone testers wandering around doing phone signal tests/etc.
Before Canon releases a new camera they always loan them out to people to beta test (under NDA)
If I was testing a prototype I wouldn't tell anyone what it was, lest someone try to steal it.

I had a manager at T-mo tell me yesterday he's seen/played with the Note II, also hinted at a possible mid october release. but i don't have much faith in him.
anyway, i'm sure there are a handful of Note II's out there. gotta test them somehow.
I think this is how they got pictures of the iPhone 4 two years ago.
The international version of the note 1 (n7000) has a large physical button and 2 soft buttons as well, Just the same as the note 2..
It can be easy to confuse the two..
So, did the phone look like this ?
it could very well be a Note n7000
Thanks for the feedback everyone!
Prolly was the original note

For anyone who's not flashed a JB rom yet: S Memo is gone. With it goes the little memo widget on the homescreen, weirdly enough. (There's no S Note widgets available in the same way as the pictures shown, nor in the Note 2, so it's likely we're not getting one)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2009202
Stealing S Memo from the S3 works, oddly enough.
But it's missing palm rejection, and appears to want to force 1280x720, so there's a little empty strip down the right hand side.

Currently your best bet is the one you ripped from the sgs3, a note optimised version is probably in the pipeline. Try taking the files from a note 2 system dump

It works flawlessly on ultimate 5.1 I had been searching for this quite a long time!!Thank you man:good:
I wanted to make better use of the extra screen realestate on my new Note 3, but I haven't had much luck.
I am currently running a rooted stock ROM for the SM-N900W8, Canadian variant. I was looking everywhere for a mod that would let me do this (I had done so, no problem on my Note 2). I found a mod online but I needed to be deodexed, so it ended up messing up my ROM.
Basically what I'm wondering is, has anybody found a mod to do this on an odexed stock rom? or is there way to Deodex the SM-N900W8 stock rom?
Why not just use a custom launcher like Nova launcher? Perhaps I don't understand your problem but it seems you are trying to use a sledgehammer to crack a nut!

Just use a different launcher. I'm using an 8x6 grid on Apex.
but don't you lose some of the TW features when you switch over to another launcher? I quite like TW and am afraid of losing some of the compatible hardware/ s-pen features.

You do, you won't be able to use any of the Sammy widgets like the accuweather widget on a different launcher.

The Samsung widgets apparently dont work the same way. Somehow Splanner turns into just a week overview, as opposed to the whole calendar. Things like that. Luckily there are plenty of alternatives.
The Spen and gesture settings are not part of Touchwiz, but are in fact a separate overlay on top of any launcher. They are unaffected by the launcher underneath.

Noob questions thread
I think this should be re-named NOOB Questions Thread, but being new to Samsung and stylus input (I've only used the wife's Nexus a bit before, and my office is still on blackberry) the simple Qs, and patience of users to answer them, have been helpful. I was definitely getting frustrated with my magazines, because that upward swish should have been opening Google search. I'll be killing magazines and see how that goes. To me, magazines belong int he google play store.
I would sure appreciate a google experience version of the 10.1. Samsung offering their pen add-ons as apps rather than a modified OS would be an improvement. But I'm quite happy so far, and the help on this and similar threads is most appreciated.
It is my first Android tablet...thanks for the responses, but none was my answer...
If you use ezPDF and make a sticky note on the PDF, the size of the icon of the sticky note is so small!! I wanted to see if we could make that bigger, but I don't think there's is a way...
Thanks on the freeze/stop advice, but it looks like root is required to remove entirely. I keep triggering the silly MyMag screen when I really want google search which is what I expect an upward swipe from home will give me.
^ you can also move your google search widget somewhere in the middle...but really, it's annoying when I hit the home button it switches to my magazine
Hey guys,
i just upgraded to the Galaxy S8 from the Galaxy S5 and so for i like the device however i can not stand 2 things not being able to select my own live wallpaper(i figured this one out on my own) AND the weather/clock widget. Is there anyways to get the Galaxy S5 Weather/Clock widget to work on the Galaxy S8? I have tried several ports for older devices but it states "error corrupt files, reinstall package".
TL;DR - How can i get the Galaxy S5 Weather/Clock widget on my S8(with out root preferred) ?
I mean cmon which looks better.

Nah man, the S5 looks better... Lets be real, i mean you opinion is your and i respect but how is it a useless port? i personally like the S5 Weather App WAY better. I cant be the only one.
Doubt your going to get the actual S5 weather widget on your S8...but you could always use one of those WYSIWYG apps to do it. There are a lot out there that have the S5 widget as part of them. I am sure there is probably an app that looks like the S5 widget out there too.
Hi. Agree and totally miss my S5 vibrant and timely weather widget. Anyone find a solution?

Hey all I thought I was only one trying to get the S5 accuweather widget on my S7. Been getting jerked around by Samsung who says it won't work on android 7.0. Google people were nice but couldn't help, accuweather customer service via email only stinks & they claim they didn't make the app/ widget a 3rd party developer did. I just sent them another email with their news story announcing s5 weather and Samsung together made preinstalled app. WTF... why can't we get whatever we want on our phones that cost us $700. This is b.s.. anyone have a clue how to get this without root. Thanks.
