This phone is fast, no doubt about it. But my biggest pet peeve is scrolling smoothness. My galaxy nexus was smoother
I am wondering if anybody knows how to get rid of the scrolling stutter (most apparent on FLICKING to scroll) that can be seen while navigating the UI, or settings for example. Try slowly flicking to scroll through any list, and it will be there. Solutions? There are two known ones that have been reported to work. Changing a thermal setting in the hidden menu (not accessible to verizon). And also changing the governor to interactive (need to be rooted). I am verizon unrooted... is there any thing that can be disabled/enabled to fix this?
There is already a thread explaining how to do this..
Go into the hidden menu and enable something. Find that thread .

I don't think there is any other way but you can try to change the animation in the Developer's Menu or bit the bullet and root your device.

I picked up a Note a couple of days ago, and I've noticed that graphical transitions are slow, almost jerky.
Good examples are when launching the multitasking interface, opening folders in Apex Launcher (everything is the same with the stock launcher, too) and turning the screen off. When turning the screen off, it fades out slowly and in stages rather than smoothly. This may be normal, but if not it's a good example of how bad the animations are.
The phone came wiped, but is there anything I can clear that may have been missed by the original owner and needs clearing down?
Or is this just normal?
Cheers.
go to settings > developer options and select force GPU Rendering, Also go to (in the same menu) Window / Transition animation scale and set them to 0.5 - 1.0 on both.
Wich android version do you have?

Thanks. Doesn't seem any different, though.
I should have mentioned, I'm updated to ICS - 4.0.4.
Thanks.
An explanation of the issue:
When I press the home button, the home button lights up, but there's a lag between the phone registering my touch and actually going "home". This video sums it up nicely: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45J4dbN0mXI
Occurs almost every time, it's more prominent with 3rd party apps but there's even a delay when going home from "settings".
What I am running
Currently on OptimusG3 1.4 with Dorimanx 8.5.2.
What I've tried
Changing ROMS. The only ROMs where this issue doesn't appear are on AOSP roms.
Disabling G3TweaksBox and Xposed in general
Tried Nova Launcher (which I now use as my primary ROM)
Freezing the Default LG launcher
Uninstalling the default LG launcher
Speeding up animations.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
UPDATE!
The issue seems to be apparent on Nexus 4 too, found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/home-button-lag-android-4-4-kitkat-t2527703/page17
Switched to ART And now it's smooth but now I don't have xposed. Damn.
Still searching for a fix that doesn't include switching to ART
UPDATE:
I flashed the nexus 4 qualcomm dalvik libraries and I'm seeing a massive improvement. It's not entirely fixed, however. I still notice the animation stuttering, but overall it's much more fluid. If anybody knows how to eliminate this issue completely, let me know.
Just recieved my new midnight black S8. Its a beautiful device. However I noticed that motion is very choppy on it throughout the UI. I had it side by side with my S7 which appears to be much smoother and fluid. What's going on here?
Turns out it was the "BXActions" app causing this behavior.

I had downloaded BXActions apk ready to remap bixby when mine arrives but deleted the apk yesterday now they are locking it down so you can no longer remap it. Sounds like it saved me from some dodgy scrolling

It's working fine. But yes, there's choppy scrolling for some reason.

I just downloaded a new app, called BixbtRemap. No intrusive permissions, and can confirm stutter is gone. Also, really liking the fact you can assign the button to perform many different tasks with by assigning a number of clicks. So far, it's great.
EDIT - The stutter is back.
I'm quite disappointed with the scrolling action on my S8. Even the pulldown from the top is jittery. And it was this way before I installed BK Disabler. I'm going to try completely removing the live wallpaper and see if that helps. Honestly for a device that cost as much as this did, and having the latest SD processor, it should be buttery-smooth
I also noticed jittery scrolling when I remapped Bixby, which went away as soon as I unmapped it. Clearly a connection.

Mine seems very smooth. I also have BXActions (although now it doesn't work thanks to the latest update), didn't notice any stutter after installing and using that app (had the remap for 2 days set to Google Now).
Did you disable anything? All I did was set animations to 0.5.

Oh yeah I disabled a bunch of stuff but the jank was present before installing BK Package Disabler.
Hi,
I did get jittery scrolling out of the box, then I factory reset and installed only two apps (instagram & fenix) to get a fair comparison with my Pixel.
Very disapointed, the Pixel is smooth, the s8 is disappointedly not.
I started a thread here earlier today: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/galaxy-s8-european-exynos-performance-t3593163
Can confirm I was having jittery scrolling when interacting with the display. Was bugging me my new phone felt so janky. Disabled the Bixbye service in Accessibility and now the scrolling is smooth again. Glad to have fixed it but annoyed to lose that functionality too.
My scrolling felt 30fps while I was sliding my finger on the screen. Even Nova Launcher was jittery. When I release and momentum scrolls it is smooth.... Anyway with service disabled it is totally smooth now touching or not.
I don't yet know if this has truly fixed the issue I've been having and I know a few others have but it's definitely improved things a lot! If you have had the issue where your notification shade lags and/or your app switcher lags please try this and report back.
Go to App Manager -> Overflow button (3 dots top right corner) -> Special Access -> Draw over other apps
Now *UNCHECK* everything here.
Reboot.
Any apps that require this permission will complain and you can enable it for just those apps. My phone had this enabled for basically every app in there which seemed odd. Since I did this my phone has been very smooth for over 24 hours and my battery life has been way better too.
Again no guarantees since the issue might still happen but this has helped me more than anything else I've tried.

interested in this since the reason i jumped on here today was because of horrible lag with app switcher last night.
Testing it right now. It does feel less laggy
Hi. Just purchased a tab 4 plus. I am satisfied with the performance and overall impressions are good. However, compared to other android tablets and phones I have to say that the scrolling is quite annoying. It's ok as long as I scroll with the finger on the screen, but as soon as I remove my finger the scrolling slows down and stops quite fast. No smooth scrolling and not possible to quickly scroll down to the bottom of a page.
I read on another place that this maybe have to do with kernel governor settings? Have anyone tried to change this or use any other settings to improve scrolling smoothness?
Kind regards,
Exact same problem, can't find any answer to this
+1 on certain apps it sometimes takes more than one swipe to get it to respond.......
