Note 3 charges extremely slow - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My note 3 use to charge pretty fast, but over the past few days I noticed it takes a long time to charge when plugged into the wall. My n2 was on 5% and within 40 mins it was up to 85%..i did root it and a few other things..does anyone else have this problem lately? I have searched and only found one thing, his problem was with a mac..

Are you using the original Note 3 charger? If I reuse my Note 2 charger which is close in specs at 2A 5V it does a super slow trickle charge that's way slower than even a Samsung 0.7A 5V charger. No issues with the original Note 3 charger so far.

If you have the time, a slow charge is always better.

For the other guy/discussion.

When you use the note3 charger, take a look in the battery status, do you see USB or AC ?
If USB try to wipe the cache. (power up the phone with power + volume up + menu button)

hey p2o8wer, I think I was the other guy you were referring to haha. I had the same problem but it went away after I unrooted. The note 3 charges super fast when plugged to the wall outlet (1-2 hrs from 20 to 100% i think) using the provided charger now. I also don't use the phone while its charging. Hope this helps.

Long time to charge ?

My Galaxy S, takes far too long for charge completely ؟
Today was the battery level of 19%, Connect the device charger, and after 5 hours and her grandmother, reached 93%
also the phone became very hot
Yes, I am also wondering about that. It takes about 6 hours to get from 5% to 100%. It is fine for me, since I charge the battery in the night, but sometimes there are situations where you want to get your phone charged quickly.
My previous iPhone 3G took about 1,5-2 hrs for complete charging.
I can't offer any advice as to why, but my phone charges from 30% to full in about 2 hours if I use the mains charger, but takes about 3-4 hours if I plug it into the computer USB port. The other thing, my phone doesn't get hot, only slightly warm.
I thought the same when I first got the phone.Have owned an iPhone for the last 3 years and that chrged up pretty quickly using the USB charger, in fact the Wall Charger is still sealed, never used.
But using the wall charger with the SGS really makes a difference.I would say under two hours from empty to full.

the usb port on a computer can only deliver i think 0.25amps where as a typical wall charger can do 1-2amps which is alot more. There it always charges quicker with a wall-plug-charger.
Sorry, i am from denmark, therefore my native language is not english
mine charges from 10% to 100% in arround 3 hours using the original charger...
I had the same problem initially, just do a few full battery cycles (2-3) and it should go away. If not, it may be faulty - how's the battery life?

Are you using USB or AC charger?
AC Charger gives you shorter charging time because of the higher amp input.
my SGS takes around 2 hrs from less than 10% battery in balance to full charge via AC charger.
The stock wall plug charger rated only 700miliamp, if you need fast charging you need to get a charger rated min 1amp, I use my old n97 charger to charge sgs, take about 2hr fr.black out condition, the charger rated 1.2amp output

Ampere rating is a max spec, the phone will pull as much as it needs. So you gain nothing from using a higher rated charger.

My Nexus 7 literally takes hours to charge

My Nexus 7 battery takes forever to charge. And this is even when I use my stock cable to the wall charger. I know it takes around 3-4 hours to charge it from dead to full but for some reason mine is only HALFWAY full at the 4 hour mark and I usually have to leave it on the charger the whole night/day for it to be fully charged.
I have no other defects on this product except for this one. And I never dropped it or anything and I'm currently running 4.1.2.
Please help. I know I can't be the only one with this problem.
Definitely use the oem charger (2 Amp compared to 500-850 ma for most) and the supplied USB-3 cable. It will charge faster. After the long initial charge up to 100% mine has been charging pretty well. If I'm down around 10% it can take up to 4 hrs to charge, but the battery is huge compared to most phones. It sounds like something isn't working normally for you. Have you tried turning it off, then charging?
Yes sorry I was unclear in the original post. I'm using everything stock when I charge my Nexus 7. I don't use any other cable. And yes I completely turn it off when I'm charging but yet it still charges horribly slow.
I would test another comparable charger just to make sure it's not the charger or cable itself.
There is a lot of threads that talk about the charger and the possible ones you can & can't use (Nexus 7 is picky). I use a HP Touchpad USB plug and a cable. It does the job well :good:

I use the HP touchpad charger, Playbook charger and KFHD charger. All three of those get the job done fast.
With those three, I don't even need to use the N7 charger lol

Do you keep it on while you're charging it? If so that will definitely make it take longer to charge since it's using power.
Nope.

I keep mine on, so I can check the % on screen. And long as you don't use it while it's charging, it won't take longer.
Trust me I keep everything that I charge off so that it can charge faster and not be using any power while charging. It seems no one else has gone through this from this thread though. It sucks that I have to get a new charger when the stock charger should be still working fine and perfectly.
As far as i have read the informations on / in box. It said to use the OEM charger only. I didn't really measure time when charging, but it always took maybe 2-3 hours max to charge the device completely.
Try blowing out your micro port with compressed air, had this on my galaxy2

1amp and 2amp charging

Before I go and buy a second charger, what's the info on the usual chargers and the new one that is 2amp - will the old 1amp ones still work but they just charge more slowly or do you actually need a 2amp version for it to charge the phone?
Going by the iPad fiasco back in the day, I know the lower ampage did charge it but so slow that if you were using it whilst charging it, you would run out of power first even though it was on charge.
So far from what I have found is
Galaxy S2, S3 and Note 1 has the 1a charger
S4 and Note 2 has the 2a charger
Unsure whether cables make a difference - charging mine from 2% now to full - been on charge since 8am but not being used. It's not 11:40 and it has only got to 72% via a white 2amp block from a Note 2 and s3 cable.
That seems awfully slow, I've been getting charge times under three hours from 10% I'd say, albeit untimed using the supplied PSU/cable.
Thanks for that. It's reminded me that I should be able to use my old iPad plug for faster charging.
I need to locate a car cig lighter plug now that's both 2a and sits fairly flush as mine is annoyingly in the ash tray drawer.
Mine charges pretty quick using my Anker Astro 2 and an old blackberry cable. As long as it's in the 2a spot. I tried using the 1a and it was still draining while I used it.

Hi,
What is your charge time?
Mine is 2 to 2 and a half hours.
Which battery and/or charger are you using? After coming from the S2 I have noticed a large decrease in charging time with my S4, so this is very surprising to me.

...*facepalm*. You're not using original charger and you're complain that the one you use doens't works so well? Do you know that original charger is pulling 2000mA out, while your usb-port is pulling between 300mA and 500mA (depends if it front or back usb-port and the quality of usb port). Do the math, 2600mAh battery and 300mA / h. Full charge should take: 2600:300 = more than 8.5 hours.
With original charger S4 recharges from 0 to 100 in 1h 49minutes. If you take a solar charger it will charge even slower (like 48 hours for 0-100%).
Next time try to use your brain before complaining.

Your Samsung power brick has the cable physically attached to it? If not, you can just use a longer cable with the Samsung power supply.
The included power supply is 2 Amps, whoever is getting long charging times, make sure you use either the original Samsung power supply, or comparable in amperage supply.
Mine charges in 2 and a half hours.
Mine takes 2 to 2.5 h to charge from 0 to 100 percent. You should only use the new white charger, it's more powerful than the black one from s3, it's output is 2.0A ,old one is only 1.0A. Newer use other chargers as they may mess up your battery or phone.

I have to check the amps but based on google the Nokia Charger is at 1.3 Amps. I need to remind myself to switch the short Samsung to longer Nokia cables.
Is it safe to get a higher Amp charger, the one that the iPad uses to charge my S4? No drawback execpt for a faster charging time right?

Take it this way, grilling meat takes for example 45minutes to cook completely. You take it to some powerful furnace like 2000degrees for 5minutes then what do you expect from it to give you back? Well cooked meat or some burned meat outside and maybe raw inside?

put it this way... the s3 comes with a 700ma charger. it charges a bit slow. and has a 2100mah battery.
the s4 comes with a 2 amp charger. thats 2000ma. it doesnt charge slowly if you use this charger. i personally am going to pop it on this charger when i get home from work and then keep it on my 700ma charger overnight... no reason to waste that powerful output, it will simply waste electricity.
make sure:
1. you use the charger that came with it
2. you use a cable thats as long as (or shorter than) the stock charging cable. longer usb cables tend to charge the phone slower.
also keep in mind usb ports charge any phone slowly. the s4 will charge even slower on them because the battery is oversized compared to most.
I'm using note 2 charger and if I surf Web while charging, literally it is not charging at all.. battery is not going up or down.. Note 2 was not like this.. i could charge battery even if I play 3d game..

u funny dude.. there is no such thing like that buddy!
its just a software issue. S4 is just released and the chipset is very new. u people should wait for sometime...its a matter of few firmware releases from samsung for S4 and all the issues will be resolved. just like the latest issue resolved the over heating issues.

[Q] Takes to charge the battery (9 hours) on my nexus 7 (2012), what's the problem?

Hello guys, I use the original charger that is the nexus 7 5v 2a and yet the battery takes around 9 hours to charge, I have another charger 5v 2a and also has this delay to load, am I in trouble with battery ? I use the original rom android 4.3.
9hrs!? Oh man. Usually it takes around 2.5 hours max for me. Did you try charging with any other charger? May be your charger's output is low?

Honestly I don't think it's the battery. I've had this problem myself before (Not quite 9 hrs but close). For me it was either a short in my cable and a new cable will fix this problem or simply rebooting your nexus 7 might fix it. Sometimes their are processes running in the background while it's charging (such as syncing Facebook or to Google) that will burn more energy than it has coming from the charger. I'd try to restart and then see how long it takes to charge. If this doesn't help then try charging it while it's off and check on it after 3 hrs (since it's the usual full charge time). If neither of these fix the problem then try replacing the cord and if none of it works it might be your battery after all but I'd try these tips before looking into a battery replacement. Hope this helps!
