hi all
im starting a new project an probably the hardest one so i need help of some of the other developers.
for now im downloading the xperia u system dump(thanks to @pipi14 for his xperia u ftf file in here)
this project may not be completed because its very hard for me but i like learning so im going to start it.
and another thing
im using stock ics as my base for porting because i think its easier to port it using stock roms as base
any helps are appreciated for this project
what i have done:
1- files are downloaded now.
2-system dump is extracted
3-debloating the rom now (because it is more than our system partition)
4-system files are about 550mg without touching them. if they be higher than 310mg even after debloating i will need someone for remapping lupus kernel
4-after making some of the things ready for port i saw that its 410mg (its not 380mg)
5-vengeance kernel didnt work i need some help for 400mg kernel now :crying: because im very noob in kernels :crying:
yes finally entered recovery in vengeance kernel
flashing the rom now
it is really hard for me to wait more
update:
flashed the first build
waiting to see if it boots or not
update2:
i made a logcat and i think i found 1 of the problems
testing my idea now
update3:
flashing now
Keep up the good work...trial and error is part of the thrill of working on roms.
What is vengeance kernel and is it a new xperia play kernel?
Sent from my R800at using xda premium
its a neo l kernel but because neo l is very similar to play so i can use neo l kernel for only getting this rom boot
but im having too many kernel related problems (i dont know why but i cant pass the kernel bootlogo some times) and because of my exams i cant test things for now

Hey guys, i PLEASE want to know if there's a way to unlock the Xperia X8!
Free or not.
I thought there is a way to unlock it when cracking the Bootloader..
Help please..
Of course there is, I got mine done in April from htccode, wasn't cheap tho $50(dont be fooled by the 'All phones cost €15')
I'm from Austria. And i don't know how i can pay, and get a code from HTCCODE..
i have an idea..
we know that we cannot modify kernel on xperia x8, because we cannot "break" this "security"..
but SEUS can, cannot it? i've heard that eclair kernel and gingerbread kernel are different,
so we can conclude that xperia x10 will have kernel changing, from eclair to gingerbread,
i dont know exactly the version of their kernel, but we can use SEUS to use custom kernel on our xperia x8,
if you agree with my idea, i can give an steps that maybe you should do:
1. Make custom kernel and its custom ROM (hope you can modify the kernel so it supports swap )
ensure that the kernel and custom ROM dont crash.. i dont know which application provide virtual device for testing..
2. Modify SEUS,
In this step you make a local server from HDD, so SEUS updates the phone from this server (HDD)...
3. Applying kernel and custom ROMs
maybe if you have ensured your kernel and custom ROM compatible with your SEUS and xperia x8, you can apply them on phone..
im sorry for my bad english, i just want to give a little bit contribution..
i just can give this idea and some steps, limited by knowledge i can't do this my self..
however,
this is just an idea, your the man.. any one will have done my idea?

Your choice is between cm7 or a edited version of the stock rom with a costum kernel. Personally I took the stock rom and modded it to my likings (launcher pro, desktop visualiser, a lot of bloatware removed). As for the kernel I used the excellent one blagus provides. CM7 isn't fully functional at this time of writing (no camera etc.).
Kernel from blagus: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1128272 This is the best kernel available in my opinion.
bloatware removal: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1046699
Theming software I used: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1134390 lots of screenshots (mine: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=655045&d=1310671105)
pre modded stock rom themed and all: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1140540
cm7: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1128216
THANKS alot Swen.
But I have one question Im new to the xperia play and I just bootloaded and rooted it.
But I can't find a guide on how to install the kernal or rom.
Hmm I installed the Blagus Kernel with fastboot and Im having a problem with the WIFI.
Anyone know why?
Could someone tell me how to get my WIFi working again?
Hello guys
Probably most of you still know me from Ice Cream Sandwich rom, but now I'm back to bring a new rom here
I have the Neo of a friend of mine now so I can make a new rom if anyone is interested???
The rom will be for Neo and Neo V, Arc, Arc S, Pro
I just want to know what you guys need in my rom?
CM10 isn't fully ready for daily use, so I'll base my rom on latest stock firmware for now.
I assume you guys are so I already did some research here today
Still have a lot to do though since I've been away from 2011 line for a while now.
Let me know what you guys think!!

Hi everybody.
Who tell me , how port ICS AOSP rom from this http://maclaw.pl/?page_id=180 . I think AOSP will be good speed and smooth on this device. I used some guide's to ''Fastest and simples port...'' , but any don't help me port THIS ROM (stop on boot image).
I used Miroslav build - CM9.
PS. Don't post comment: ''that device is too old for ICS , check AOSP 2.3.7 bla, bla'' . Everything is possible if u want!

If we tell it to everybody that ICS & JB projects are too heavy for our device, is true. We have to understand that, I want a working ICS or JB, course I do! But we have to put our feet on the earth and see that LG Swift cannot run even 95% functional ICS or JB rom.
Sorry if I didn't help you, but the reality is that.
@up I don't need thats posts...wait for realy help.
HQ mpeg4 movie without QComm decoders it was incredible...it was.
Naaa this types of cheap and dirty ports will never do. Go check out xda-university.com great guides by devs on how to build aosp ROMs kernels etc.
Hi everyone!
One day i was getting tired (? of using stock rom in my L3, so i decided to try other roms . I rooted my phone, installed CWM and flashed cm9 nightly, of course. but it had various bugs. a friend of mine made a stable version of cm9 with a lot of cool features and i was using it but battery just lasted 1 day! so i was considering to back to stock so then i found LGUI v2 based in stock... i installed it and loved it, it has a beautyful UI and cool features . It had a good battery life but no as good as the stock one .
So i was wondering how will be the L3 with cm7 on it... And i said to myself: why you don't port it??? and aswered to myself : yeah! why not?
Then i started searching for tutorials and guides to learn porting. i've found some and tried .
The first attempt was using the last nigthly cm9 for e400 as base and a stable cm7 for htc wildfire as port. I "ported" it and flashed it to my phone. i rebooted it from cwm adn the lg logo appeared. :fingers-crossed: . then the cyanogenmod bootanimation appeared too!!! i was happy and thinking "i did it!!!" but no. i got a bootloop and an infinite bootanimation . so i made a logcat (i have a lot of them rigth now in the whole computer )
i tried using others stables cm7 for other devices, but it always was the same. bootloop.
i tried using stock rom as base too, but that "portings" didn't pass the lg logo at boot.
i've tried different porting methods but nothing changed...
I'm starting this thread to ask for help. to help me porting cm7 and get a stable cm7 for our lg optimus l3. :cyclops:
If somebody want to help, just answer here. every contribution will be really appreciated :highfive:
I have several logcats, so if you need one just ask me for one! they are free!!! :silly:
Thanks in advance!!!
To start porting a different CM version, you first need the correct sources. I mean, if you use CM9 sources it's not going to work on a CM7 based rom
*EDIT*
Here you got a reference thread, hope it helps
