Today I found this weird app on my all apps list...the app has no name, shows version number 1.0 & has all sorts of permissions....I encountered this app few weeks ago & thought it was a virus & I factory reset my phone, went back to my stock ROM through Nandroid backup & then installed the Hyperion8 pre GM port of Y duos.....& this app is back again today...it was not even there yesterday & there was no device administrator account added before I found this unnamed app....when I found this unnamed app today,I saw that there was Android Device Manager (part of Google Play Services) added as a device administrator...so,could this unnamed app be a system app??? I extracted the APK & did a virus scan on virustotal & Netqin & both say the app is secure.....I scanned my device using Avast,Bluebox security scanner & Malwarebytes (I downloaded this after seeing the unnamed app today) & all of them reports that my device is secure & there are no malicious apps.....did anyone experience any similar app with no name & having lots of permissions?? Plz report...if this is a system app or if this really is a virus...I have attached the screenshots & the apk file...can any dev have a look of this APK plz??
PS:- DO NOT INSTALL THE APK ON YOUR DEVICES...IT IS FOR THE DEVELOPERS TO INSPECT WHAT THE FILE REALLY IS
Virustotal Report:- https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/...25dedf2ff1d5ecea6d1f5462/analysis/1382782081/
NetQin Report:- http://scan.netqin.com/open/rpc?key=20002000&style=rpchtml&category=webscan&lang=en
I think it is the part of the Android Device Manager, if i'm not wrong.

the unnamed app on your phone has full permissions to modify anything on your phone? I'm asking this coz in the screenshot that you gave, the app size is 0bytes & the one on my phone is 20KB & has device administrator permissions...it's only when I extracted the app that I saw that it is a system app & is present in the installer of all custom ROMs

Delete it from system/app then adb push it. Everyone had the same issue when gmail and car home came to the market.
New YouTube is stunning though. Hint to what Gingerbread will be like?

But why is it? Because of the custom rom? Also, how do i do the adb thing? Could you be more precise?

I'm not entirely sure, but I think its because its originally stored in system/app and after we update, it tries to store on your SD, without properly deleting the system version.

A Solution
I had the same problem - tried installing and got package incorrectly signed, solved it by uninstalling YouTube with Titanium Backup, restart, and then installing from the market.
If i tried installing straight after the uninstall it failed - meaning restart is a must.
Using OpenDesire 4.0.36.
I have manage to install new ver.
first delete from system/app/youtube.apk than also
in data/app/youtube.apk
restart
& now download new Youtube from market or if you tray to install
before downloaded apk file ,should be in SD/download/download3.apk
or some other nummber

@ mod: sorry for the language, please close the thread im just gonna download the new miui rom with the new youtube cooked in.
install worked no problems for me, deleted youtube.apk from /system/app/ using root explorer.. rebooted and installed from the market with no issues

Did you applied your home CSC after flash, and/or wiped data/cache?
Well, I'm converting (nowadays by SplitFUS2) the Samsung files without any modification.
But! For wipe packs I'm including the userdata.img file, which was extracted from an old multi-files pack, named "S5360XXKI6_bysamsdroid.rar". This pack may be considered as insecure, and theoretically might have some hidden "inappropriate" things which I'm not aware , but if it's true then there were hundreds of complaints according to this SMS, I think...
Have You used some Indian custom ROMs in the past maybe?
Please ask questions here. Thanks

you really believe in antivirus apps for android?
just try to look at permissions on the apps on your phone try to find ones that has
"Enable services that cost you money"
or find a permission finder app on google play
Have you checked your third party sms app? -if you do have a third party sms app, you should! Check for any auto-send or auto-reply sms.
Also . . .
There are ways to send sms with commands depending on carrier. Like in philippines there is this fcuking sms that you send to any number, once they open it, your phone will hang and makes your sms permanent -no way of deleting it and it's not curse of silence remote vulnerability.
-perhaps someone sent you an sms with a code.
SMS these days are more like a html page, where you can embed stuff.
I suggest you do full flash -unless you want to spend your free time investigating on what's happening to your phone.
-just saying, I may be wrong. Hahaha
looks like its a malware from an app you downloaded from a black market (maybe) and installed on your phone. google reported that they too removed some apps from their own google play store because of these types of malwares. one example was another angrybird game which was not official ... i read it from a security site.
what i would suggest is for you to do a clean factory reset, then clean flash of any official stock rom. next time be careful on the apps you install on your phone.

it wouldnt hurt using one, win viruses are different from linux malwares but they do exist on android (linux). android is a target for many hackers and "skids" because of its big userbase and it is opensource.
The problem of the SMS comes from installing a custom ROM that is from India and the rom is based on an old stock rom, like Creeds, because +91 is from india
I tried Creeds Rom - same thing.
sending SMS again.
apps:
* no black market tools
* no autosending sms tools
Going back to stock rom.
Without installing any apps.
and check again.
is there a pssibility to trace sms?
So my Galaxy Y informs me with that annoying popup (and in the notification dropdown) saying that it's Internal Storage is getting low, I already uninstalled other bloatwares like the Dual Clock app but the notification still stays there.
When I'm looking for another bloatwares -that are installed as system apps- to uninstall, my eyes got stuck at the "Email" (Email.apk) app. It eats 5 MB of my Internal Phone storage and I'm going to remove it, but some guys here (in XDA Forums, of course) said that it's not safe to uninstall this (like on this thread), while some other guys said it's safe to remove (like here and here, I got those links from XDAForums user, forgot their usernames though)
So, hey guys, have anybody of you ever tried to remove this Email.apk? Does uninstalling it will break something? I really need to get answer from people who have experience with this so I can do this with no doubts and worries, thanks!
When I first tried to get my stock rom deodexed, I did remove that email.apk and nothing went wrong with it.
I suggest that if your guts says no, it be best if you just disable it with titanium backup or the like.

I am currently running the latest paranoid android Rom on my nexus 4 using Franco's milestone 2 kernel. I am having problems installing apps that I downloaded (e.g., Adobe flash update). What happens is I can see the installation screen with the different permissions, but I cannot click on the install button. It works when I install apps from the play store but not through root browser, astro, es explorer. I have tried other apks to make sure it's not just that one file. As well, I had even removed those dimmer apps like twilight and lux before installing. I also stopped the running applications and then tried installing. I'm stumped and I have no idea what to try next. Maybe there is another uncommon app that I need to uninstall before installing off my card...
If anyone has any suggestions, that would be greatly appreciated.
