how to change csc code on galaxy s4 i9505 without root - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

how can i change the csc to get the update.

If you want to get 4.3 update, download any German(DBT) rom from sammobile and flash. After flashing, you may need to wipe data twice untill you get correct CSC on Kies..
Make sure that you have backed up all the important files before wiping...

Cannot do "Software update" after firmware update

Hi,
I updated my p7510 that i bought in canada (xac) with firmware xwkg7. I live in germany and wanted a european version of the fw.
I did the following:
-Update tab (pit, bootloader, csc, code) using P7510XXKFC
-Update tab (code) using P7510XWKG7
After the update recovery gave me strange error messages (/preload cannot be mounted and so on). However, I installed CWM, so I do not have these errors anymore.
I also did factory reset, wipe cache...
However, since I updated the firmware I cannot use "about tablet->software update->update" anymore. I always get the following error message:
"Failed to update firmware due to network or server problem. Try software update later (Setting->Software update->Update) or using PC software (Kies)"
Before the update this worked just fine (although no update could be found). I dont have network problems, as I can browse, chat etc.
Since the update Kies is also not showing my current firmware version on my tab.
I guess it has something todo with the country where I bought the tab (canada) and the rom that i used to update (europe version)?
Do you know or have ideas how I could fix this problem?
I dont like the feeling that somwthing is not working on my tab
Thanks!
Klaus
Try to reflash the stock recovery with odin and factory reset, that will recreate the needed data structure on the tab and try again.
Or maybe its because you mixed incompatible code/csc.
Start over.
I found the solution.
I described it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1280069
In short: csc files were completely missing. This caused all my trouble.
Hope this will help someone.
Klaus
I have the same problem.
So if I want to fix I have to install csc and PDA files at the same time?
Does that mean all my data will be erased?
Could I just use csc?
Where can I find these files?
Sorry for the 1000 questions!
I am currently on vacation and can not tell you the firmware versions, but at Sammy firmware I found two European rom versions. One had also a csc file that I flashed.
Flashing the original csc file with Odin will do a factory reset. You could also download a custom rom, extract the csc stuff and copy it to /system,if you want to avoid factory reset. You have the choice
But if you use an original PDA/code file and flash it with Odin, csc files are not included and must be added afterwards somehow!

OTA Binary File P7510 (ICS 4.0.4): what to do with it

Dear all,
I just noticed that the OTA ICS 4.0.4. for my country is released on Sammobile for my P7510. I downloaded the file, but don't know what to do with it, or how to install it. At this moment I run the XEU release and I am very pleased, but for warranty reasons, one likes to go back to a version of the country where the device is bought.
So my question is what to do with this binary? Hope you guys know. Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Dead Silence
When you say binary, do you mean the tar.md5 file, if so just flash it via Odin and you'll be running your country's ROM, plus your CSC should return back to what ever it was before you changed it to XEU.
If it doesn't change the CSC, use mobile Odin to flash the cache partition only. That should add the CSC back on to the device but you may still need a CSC changer from the market to actually get it to the original.
Swyped from my finger to your face, on my Samsung Galaxy Note.

Thanks for response. I do not mean the tar.md5 file, that one I can deal with ODIN and stuff. I mean a file with file extension .bin, download via Sammobile in firmware section over there. Direct link: http://www.hotfile.com/dl/171858862/2649dfb/GT-P7510_PHN_249719138.bin.html

[Q] Does updating using ODIN break OTA?

Hello,
I know it probably has been asked many times before but I can't see any answers.
Does using ODIN to flash the Lollipop update on my friends Note 3 mean that he won't then receive OTA updates after that ? He is a 3 user and although they have released the update he isn't getting it through OTA so I said I could update it for him with ODIN but I don't want to mess his phone up as it is all stock unmessed with at the moment.
Thanks
Not if you install the matching firmware that is the release for his phone .
Maybe if you install for a different CSC /Region/Phone Code .
Brilliant thank you!

I breaked knox counter twice {if that's what you meant} which doesn't allows direct update of software. But restored again.
TechArena.IN
> If you install the firmware from the identical CSC, OTA will work normally.
> If you install a different CSC, and the CSC is automatically changed to the new CSC after the install is finished (dial *#1234# to check), the OTA will work normally
> If you install a different CSC and the original CSC remains after the update, OTA will not work. To re-enable OTA: Do a factory reset through the Recovery menu to (automatically) change the CSC to the one matching the installed firmware.
> If you install a non-official firmware, OTA will not work.
I think that's all possible options.

CSC-HOME and CSC simple????

Hi Guys
i have a question i want to flash my galaxy s7 edge with Odin i want to ask that there is some confusion between HOME-CSC and CSC simple
1-Can you please guide me which one i need to select to flash my phone?
2-What is Difference between the HOME-CSC and CSC?
3-What happened with both of them if i will flash with one of them ?
Guys ill wait for your reply ......hope so you will guide me in this matter
let's say you wanna update your phone without wiping the data u have on it. you use the home csc. If u have custom recovery and custom rom and you wanna go back to stock firmware you flash the csc file.

Didn't he already answer that question?
Home_CSC: Flash the firmware without wiping the data (if you just want to update the ROM)
CSC: Flash the firmware along with a complete wipe including data (mostly used in cases like bricked phones or Go-Back-To-Stock situations)
I always backup data and do a clean install with CSC ! Its recommended.
When I wanted to swap the firmware from (V) Verizon to (U) Unlocked, I had to use CSC simple, the Home_CSC gave an error. So I assumed the existing data cannot be "saved" when firmware are of different types.
I have asked about this and I wasn't that lucky to get an answer, so I just tried it (trial and error).
However, I think the data wipe is just a side-effect, not the purpose of CSC. Changing the CSC will always wipe data, including any custom software from the previous carrier:
https://productioncommunity.publicm...ung-Phone-Info/m-p/53208/highlight/true#M6228
In my case the original Home_CSC, had only VZW (Verizon) code available. The new unlocked firmware brought in 15 different CSC codes that can be applied when a SIM from one of those providers is introduced in the phone. Phone INFO shows those codes.
@NaJeEb303 He did answer, but he didn't make it clear. Only after knowing the answer I can understand what he meant. So thanks to you for clarifying.

Brother when you are flashing firmware with same csc as your previous firmware then you can use Home_csc and if you are flashing different csc firmware then you have to use file which starts with csc. You will lose data when not using home_csc because it contains different partition information and flashing this will delete you previous partition resulting loss of data but a successful flashing if you are stuck with home_csc. Hope you got your answer.
where do i find the HOME_CSC file?
Hey all,
i just used Odin3-v3.13.1 to upgrade from:
G935FXXU2EREM - GALAXY S7 EDGE SM-G935F DBT GERMANY
to:
G935FXXU2ERG2 - GALAXY S7 EDGE SM-G935F DBT GERMANY
First i selected all AP, BL, CP and HOME_CSC and started flasching. At the very last step (think it was the csc part) it failed.
The Phone said i thould have to use SmartSwitch to get Recovery. So i just opened odin again and just selected AP, BL and CP no csc this time.
That worked. Phone booted, did a bit upgrading and optimizing and now iam on 01.July upgraded. All fine!
But now iam really confused about csc in general.. what is it doing? And is it safe to just leave any csc file empty in odin when doing an upgrade?
No idea? Maybe i should better start a new fred for that
how can i get home_csc for samsung note 3 n900? thanks
How to modify CSC to prevent wipe of my files?
Hello!
How to wipe android OS, but keep my files, like documents, pictures, audio and video in SAMSUNG SM-N9005 memory? 'Android system' package was disabled in 'packagedisabler pro', and now SM-N9005 sticks during booting with animated SAMSUNG logo. Flashing with HOME firmware does not recover because it does not enable 'Android system' package.
How to modify CSC to prevent wipe of my files?
or
How to modify HOME_CSC to wipe android OS but keep my files?
Thanks!
I was answered this on Reddit
I started a thread on Reddit about how to get OTA after stock ROM flash, and the guy said that if I used the CSC file in the CSC field in Odin, I should still get OTA, so I guess it just means you would get OTAs on it. I think it depends on other factors such as build number and others too though, so I would research first.
