Hi
I am getting ready to update to ICS.
But I am worried it will go wrong, or I wont like the ICS or it may have bugs that i cant deal with.
How would i backup the original OS.
Is there one out there which i can just reinstall the original Motorola Android OS that it came with?
Which is the best ICS to go for? Quarx or Epsylon3
According to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432100
Epsylon3 has the 2 bugs of
-In Epsilon's build microphone isn't recognized by apps
-In Epsilon's build theres a multitouch bug
where as Quarx does not...
What guide should i follow to install?

Thanks
Root your Defy+.
Install Clockwork recovery.
Make a backup in recovery, flash 05/03 GB build by quarx, then gb kernel file, and that's it.

THanks
and i follow this guide right?

you should install it with the multi boot way
it's much better you will get bot first and ics os

ok so i installted bootmenu 0.6.1
i hope that was the right one.
Its really confusing, last time i used bootloader was a year or more ago
and it was simple
now its strange
every time i started the phone it went into bootloader..
so i set the default to normal instead of bootloader
now there are these setting
Boot (I guess thats seletct which os u want to boot into)
System -
UnRooting (9 guess thats to unroot ur device....
Uninstall boot menu (does wat it says but i wonder if u uninstall it, would it go bak to the original one?)
Recovery -
Custom Recovery (... what is this?
Stock Recovery (.... this is?
Tools -
ADB Daemon ????
USB Mass Storage ????
where does one back up? and where is install update.zip from SD?
By clicking Custom Recovery I see that i can get to the old style update.zip from sd menu
Stock Recovery = Crash screen (triangle with ! and lil green android)
but how would i select which boot to install it on Normal or 2nd?
Questions go in the Q&A section.
Thread moved
In custom recovery there should be a "backup and restore" option. Use that to make a backup.
Cheers,
Nova

Hi,just saw your post.I have a defy.I am writing this based on my experiences with defy. There are a few changes to be made for defy plus, which i have mentioned at the appropriate parts. This guide should be useful for both defy and defy+ owners.I personally use quarx build.Don't know about the epsylon build, but i see people complaining about some bugs..Just my opinion.Anyway if you are going to go with quarx(assuming you have defy),i recommend u stay away from build of 8th march with the hardware acceleration.Frankly itz too buggy for everyday use.Too many force closes and restarts.Stick with the 5th march build.Which is great(nearly as good as a stable rom for both defy and defy +)
Find out which SBF your Motorola originally came with.Sbfs are the files with.sbf extension which is basically your stock(original) firmware.SBF files are only for original firmwares. No cm9 or cm7 files come with .sbf extension.Defy in different regions have different sbfs. You should find your appropriate SBF in Xda forums. If you need that and can't find it reply back.I will help you.Personally your Original Sbf is your starting point. In case you have a warranty claim and you are running in CM9,then flash your defy with the above mentioned sbf with RSD lite.I will go into flashing with rsd lite later.Voila!!Phone is good as new.No hint of ever running Cm9 or warranty voiding stuff.Personally i would ask you to keep this someplace safe. You can sleep peacefully!
Installing CM9 involves
1.Rooting your phone
2.Taking A titanium Backup(optional)
3.Installing 2ndinit
4.Rebooting into Clockwork Recovery
5.Taking a nandroid backup(optional but highly recommended)
6.Flashing CM9 files
7.Restart!
Root your Phone.
Now before proceeding let me remind you this will void your warranty.Of course you can flash your original sbf to revert back. But there is always a small risk(Personally i don't think there is,but i believe everyone should be aware of their options).
Root with superone click root. This is a windows app.Not sure about linux or mac.Search XDA for the latest.i think v2.2 is the latest.
The actual process of rooting.(whatever u do,have at least 70% battery)
Enable USB debugging in your phone. It should be in Settings->Applications->Development and enable “USB Debugging“.Then connect your phone via usb cable to your pc.Select Charging Only option(not the memory card access) in the usb connection mode notification that comes in your phone up when you plug in the usb.Make sure it is not mounted in mass storage mode(memory card access). For that check in My computer if your sd card is visible. And check your connected usb devices in the safely remove button at the right side of windows taskbar. That should cover it.Do not root with sd card mounted(memory card access).
Open the superoneclick.exe file in your pc(You should have downloaded this by now from http://shortfuse.org/ or from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682).if you are not using vista or 7 go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682.You will find information you need if you use mac,xp or linux.I rooted this on a windows 7 pc which was fine.Anyway after opeining the application click on root under the Universal tab.
For any confusion go to http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/root-android-phone-superoneclick-2/.they have screenshots. After rooting which will take like a min or less,(you might be asked to install busybox and to run a test.click yes for both)An app called superuser will be installed. This basically confirms you have superuser access. And the app basically monitors other apps that you have given superuser privileges. There is no way you can go wrong with superoneclick because itz that easy!!
Why Root?
Because Motorola doesn't want us to tinker with the original firmware files.Basically they do not want the additional burden of software troubleshooting in case of a warranty claim if the user messes up his phone.
But as a user it is sad.Basically think like this. You bought a new PC.You are free to install XP,7,vista ,Linux or anything(as long as you pay for it!)right??Well in case of phones you can't.For informed buyers, this is nuts. For me,if i use a device i want to stretch its capability.I don't want to be the idiot that uses a phone just for calling or for some apps.Cyanogen Mod is my place to go for my requirments.
Basically Rooting unlocks the superuser capabilities of the phones firmware.Superuser access means ability to tinker with your rom(Original SBF) which you were previously denied. In this case your original SBF will be modified to give you admin privileges. In CM7(gingerbread version ) and CM9(ICS version) you already have that capability in the firmware.
Anyway you have access to your rom now. With this (if you want!)you can use an app called SetVsel to overclock or undervolting your phone cpu.Be careful when you do that.Read about VSel values before you tinker.that is if you are interested in overclocking or undervolting on stock firmware.Otherwise we move on to titanium backup.
Next,if you want to have all your apps when you jump into CM9,take a Titanium Backup.Titanium Backup is an app in the Market(Play store). It requires root privileges. It keeps a backup of all apps you installed. You can do a lot of stuff with it other than just backup. But backup and restore is the core functionality of the app.Superuser might ask you to give it superuser access.Click yes.Anyway if you have money Go for Titanium Backup Pro.Best App money can buy.Totally worth every cent.Buy it.Run the batch restore option(This option is a little inside the menu options. You will find it.If not, tell me)Backup all user apps.leave out the system data.I haven't done otherwise, but somehow i am guesing motorola system settings and cm9 settings wont play nice.If you don't want to pay for titanium backup, use the free version (which does not have the batch backup option).Alternatively if you don't want anything to do with backup and just want a list of apps you have installed currently, then there is an option in titanium backup to export the list of installed apps as a text file.Which you can install manually later.Your call.Backup is done on your sd card. You will need free space.Somewhere around 300 mb or more.Actually keep at least 1 gb free. You will need it later on.
Now our next step is to install 2ndinit(i will explain what it is).But before that, you have to download a couple of things.
1.CM9 build(Quarx or epsylon,Your preference here)
2.Kernel file
3.Google Apps
Now if you have a defy, you will need the kernel file.If you have defy plus, skip over this part. You can find kernel files in the beginning of this post.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20097916&postcount=3 This is probably a very useful post..thanks to nogoodusername.Any doubts on what to download this should clear it up.If you still have any doubts tell me.
Now download your required cm9 build from here.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432100
if you have a defy, download the cm7 kernel,if you have a defy running on a defy+ build(gingerbread)[Note:i am not talking about defy+ phone owners] download cm9 kernel. Both are available here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20097916&postcount=3
Finally to Google Apps.Google had a run in with cyanogen community.Android as google sends out as opensource does not have gmail, gtalk and all google apps you usually find in a new phone. It means these apps are not opensource and you can't package it in any firmware without google's permission. So what the devs here in xda did is to provide cyanogenmod firmware files and google apps as seperate files.the google apps are what u find as gapps.zip or gapps-ics-20120304-signed.zip in forums.Download the file from here http://goo-inside.me/gapps/gapps-ics-20120317-signed.zip Nearly 50 mb.
Now place all three files inside your sd card as such.Yes they are in zip files.Dont bother.Leave them as they are in zip formats.
Defy plus owners.Don't bother about kernel file.
Defy owners with defy and defy+ builds, place ur respective kernels in the sd card.
Now disconnect the usb if you haven't done so.
Now we move onto 2ndinit.
2ndinit is an app that requires superuser access privileges. This is one of the reasons why we root. Why it requires is this.Your defy Bootloader is locked. You can't touch it.But this isn't a bad thing. This is the reason why it is mightily difficult to brick your defy(bricking basically means screwing up your phone so much it wont start and essentially becomes nothing more than a paperweight, hence is as good as a brick)
What 2ndinit does is that it loads up right after the bootloader loads. And presents with you a new menu system(actually The Clockwork Recovery) which basically is your way to boot and install new roms such as cm7 and cm9.So if you screw up,since your bootloader is intact,if you have the original sbf(Original motorola firmware)you can simply use rsd lite to flash back to original condition.
How to install 2ndinit
The app was in the market. Not anymore.GO here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032212. Download it.and place the apk file in your phone. For installing, make sure you have a file manager installed(such as es file manager or astro).Make sure you have enabled the installation of non market apps by Going to Settings > Applications 2) Check the box next to Unknown sources. Now with the file manager installed, browse to where you placed that 2ndinit apk file and install. Now open the app.It will ask you to install 2ndinit recovery.Chose the stable version stable with Cyanogen Builds(0.6.1).I have had no problems with that. Now it will start to download.Keep your wifi on or your data connection on.After that it will download. After download,Superuser will ask for access twice.Choose Yes for both. After installation,if everything goes well,u will have led light will be green. It will stay green till u reboot. This is fine and shows that upto now you are on right track. Before rebooting, disable usb debugging in Settings->Applications->Development and disable “USB Debugging“.Shut Down ur phone
Now start your phone. You should boot directly into Android Bootmenu. Here To move up and down the options, use volume up and volume down buttons.TO make a selection, press the power button(Don't press the power like u do it for shutdown.A small press will do).
Go to Backup and restore.Choose Backup.A Nandroid Backup will be created.Go back to root menu. The nandroid backup will be in a folder in your sd card.
Go to recovery. In recovery choose custom recovery.
If you are wondering what just happened,I will explain. As usual motorola bootloader loaded up as always, but this time, due to 2ndinit,we have a boot menu which kicks in right after the bootloader.Custom recovery is clockwork mod recovery which is the place where u do all ur installation of new roms and stuff.Boot option means you have option to boot into stock or cm9 firmware. You can tinker with this later.
On the other hand Nandroid Backup is something of a backup of your entire Rom and everything else.Just remember it is something you should fall back to in case you screw up.On the other hand Flashing original sbf is like the last option. If you flash Original Sbf,Then you have to go through the rooting thing and 2ndinit from scratch.A Nandroid Backup will save u from all that.It will restore ur rom just before u took backup. As good as new. Also Note Nandroid Backup is a lot different from titanium backup.titanium Backup is just user apps(and system settings if u choose it).Nandroid backup is a backup of your rom and therfore much more comprehensive.
Now back to the practical stuff.
When u choose custom recovery ,u enter Clockwork mod recovery.Choose to factory rest/wipe data option.Select Yes.After this.Select Wipe Cache Partition.Select Yes.
Now choose Install Zip from Sd card.
First choose your CM9 file.CONFIRM IT.
Next choose your Kernel file(if applicable).Confirm it.
Finally choose your google apps file.Confirm it.
All installations above are through the option "install zip from sd card".
Go to tools and delete dalvik cache.Dalvik Cache is a cache mechanism for your programs u previously installed. No need to go into the explanation here.
Thats it!!!!!!!!!!
Reboot.First time boot should take time.Time as in 2-3 min.Max 5min.
If you have screwed up,Your phone will not boot into ics and will stay at Motorola red logne way of screwing up is if you have flashed a defy+ build with a defy kernel. There are number of ways you could mess this up.Just follow this guide carefully.
Now if you screw up,you can boot into custom recovery and restore nandroid backup. For booting into custom recovery, shut down first. Then keeping the ‘Volume down’ key held, pressing the ‘Power’ key and then releasing the ‘Volume down’ key once you see the bootmenu screen, you will reach recovery. From there on,it is as i explained earlier.
Personally to tell u the truth,i have never restored a nandroid backup..Other forum members might help you if u have serious doubts.
Now if you are really really screwed,Flash your original sbf.
To do this first install motorola drivers
If you are using 32 bit version of windows
http://www.addictivetips.com/?attachment_id=44719
If you are using 64 bit
http://www.addictivetips.com/?attachment_id=44740
Next,Download RSD lite from here. This is a windows app.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348587.
Install and open in xp sp2 compatible mode.As your defy is bricked, the only thing u can do is to press volume up and press power button. This should bring it to bootloader mode. This is a black screen which says "bootloader mode" in the top and "ok to program" in the middle.
Connect your phone via usb.It should install some usb drivers.Browse to the sbf file you downloaded(the one i told in the beginning of this post.If the sbf file is in a zip, extract it.).And click Start. It will take about 5 min. After that your phone should reboot(that too will take time, fortunately look into the live logsheet in rsd lite.It should show a percentage completion).
Finally Your phone should be back as you bought it from the store.
A few words to everyone. What i wrote here is a bit of a layman's usage.I hope everyone who reads this guide gets an idea of what rooting and recovery and flashing is.I haven't gone into fixed sbfs, adb and the lot because the idea of this tutorial is to help others install cm9 and a backup plan if all hell breaks loose.Nothing more.if there are incorrect information in this i would be glad to hear and rectify.
please help

That's easy! You can find it here or here
You have the same SBF my phone came with! However I upgraded to 4.5.1-134-DFP-1321 . If you want that you can get it here but with that you won't be able to downgrade and will have to use Defy+ builds for everything (CM7 or CM9).

The ota to 1321 in India its known to fail! Check the official Moto users forum, u can see many people including me there asking for it!What I shared was original sbf dfp1321. Anyways there are only original sbf since it needs to be signed by Moto! And due to locked bootloader it is almost impossible to brick defy! Just keep flashing the correct sbf..

Yes you are doing it right however if you see any lags or booterrors(stuck in logo types) then do a data wipe from stock recovery... That's all.. Happy flashing

I am following this procedure.....
To Flash full SBFs,
here is the standard procedure:
Open RSD Lite:
1. Click on [ … ] Button and select your .SBF (Remember to rename to a short name and put it on root of your PC) and click Open.
2. Boot your phone into Bootloader Mode (How do I enter Bootloader Mode: With the Phone off press VOLUME UP, then while still pressed power up the phone. Keep the Vol key pressed until a black screen with some white letters appear. This is the Bootloader.).
3. Now connect your Defy to your PC
4. The START button on RSD Lite should be available now, click and wait.

What guide should i follow to install?

frst i tried many scripts and roots and now i cnt even soft reset my phone...
bt i didn't give up
i installed cwm on s1 and flashed superuser 3.1.3.zip
thn installed the same cwm in s5..cwm was showing green lines due to the resolution difference i guess..so wt i did was opened cwm in both s1 and s5..saw the option to install zip from sd card in s1 and navigated to same option in s5 (if it was at no. 2 in s1, i pressed volume down in s5 so it navigated to no. 2 and pressed power button to confirm it)
thn i made sure tht the zip file was in the root folder of both sd cards and was on last number alphabetically so i flashed it on both phones respectively..jst tried my luck and i got my phone rooted...
IF I WAS UNABLE TO EXPLAIN IT..JUST REPLY HERE ABOUT WHAT U DIN'T GET AND I'LL TRY TO EXPLAIN AGAIN..
I DON'T KNOW IF IT CAN HARM YOUR PHONE IN ANY WAY AS IT IS NOT MEANT FOR TITANIUM S5
I CAN PROVIDE LINKS TO S1 ROOTING TUTORIAL IF U NEED..
AND I GUESS U JUST NEED ANOTHER PHONE WITH CWM IT'S NOT NECESSARY TO HAVE S1...

i got what u said n thanks.but the point is that cwm of s1 is different then s5.that is y the recovery is screwed up.i thought of this method but i dnt want to screw the stock recovery.coz if we need cwm for our phone then we have to have the stock recovery.but i cannot make a recovery.img without root.so i am in a fix. if you can provide me with the stock recovery i can build the cwm for this phone.and the main difference is that s1 has msm8225q processor but s5 has a msm8625q.

and one more question. do you knw what is the original brand that produced titanium s5? i mean s1 is cherry mobile flame 2.0. so s5 should have a counterpart. if you knw please let me know

sorry! untill you have the stock rom.you are stuck. and even if you have a stock rom we need cwm to flash it. without cwm there is no hope. and moreover its not a mediatek device so on-board flashing tool is unknown!.
i dont think any dev is on this phone yet. coz s1 has created more hype then s5. moreover the processor s1 uses has been used before whereas our one is brand new. i cant get a single matching phone untill now. i m on vacation so cant get on my system.
if someone finds a rooting solution, i am ready to compile CM

no way without root! or i do not know. we need root to run 'dd; or any kind of back up.
i am kind of confused why only this phone has this processor and no other. its performance is great and believe me much better then canvas hd (except for 1080p vids). a friend of mine bought it at the same time i did. so nw my phone still fast and kicking whereas his showing lag.

Exactly!! I bought it 3 days back as a temporary phone while I wait for the my nexus,,,but I am pleasantly surprised by the performance and the smoothness......a friend of mine owns the canvas hd, and it has a snappy and laggy ui....but the s5 is just awesome....feels good too!!
So where exactly do we go from here? What are the possibilities of finding a root for this device?
just came across this thread. i own s5 too.
as read in one of the above posts, one guy who used Chinese method of rooting, messed up his phone.
and one guy was able to r root by synchronising his actions from s1.
so if the former wants to restore his phone, he may follow latter's way of flashing cwm and ask the latter to provide a factory reset backup zip which the latter can flash via cwm by seeing the cwm in another phone.

hey I tried the flashable zip from Micromax canvas 2 jelly bean it's successfully flashed but root checker says phone is not rooted!!!
bull **** yaar
if you have already flashed then its most likely screwed your stock recovery. i want my stock recovery to be intact for cwm.
but how about flashing this device from a pc?
if someone befriends a karbonn klnic guy please ask him how they flash this thing. if we get the tool them we can flash rooted FW.
hi, i have zte grand x pro but he have was a little laggy, when will be some rom available for download ? soon ?
thank you so much
well, that makes whole total of 2 of us who eagerly await custom rom for this great phone.:good:
as for lag, change launcher and disable live wallpaper. i remember when i first powered it up, i thought "what the fluf did i just buy?!?!" now i'm running holo launcher and have never regreted buying it...
anyway, fingers crossed for some poor soul who's willing to sink many hours of rom baking just for our basketball team...oh wait... we're even less than that...:laugh:
*three of us :good: Holo launcher solved the speed problems for me too, and it's a really nice phone
What characteristics has this ROM? Is it geared toward fast performance or features? Which version of Android?
Thanks

it runs stock ICS 4.0.4., with very little bloatware from zte (ZTE launcher already mentioned). the phone feels very quick and responsive, most noticeable for me comming from htc desire/bravo is wifi-data-sound toggles switching waaay faster, fluid homescreen (still to date), no restarts, excellent screen with great pixel density (although is TFT).... it's a great phone overall, especially given the price tag...
haven't played much games so no comment on that. battery with average usage lasts 2 days. but it can go as long as 3 days. yes, charged it tonight after 3 days of usage which would leave me with desire's battery on 10% the next morning (24 -ish hours). really impressed with that...:good::good:
my only negative comment (the thing doesn't bother me that much, but here you go) is that the touchscreen sometimes feels unresponsive, or not very precise. sometimes pinch to zoom doesn't register and hitting some small on-screen buttons require more tries. but as i said it occurs rare enough not to bother me much...
hope this helps...
I would make a CWM and Rom for it ... but there should be around 15 people which would like a rom on this device ...

What are you dealing with is a soft-brick. In short, You are f***ed. If your recovery is stock , that's even worse. I bricked my Grand X Pro like that, and lied to the retailer that an update broke it. Now it's fixed. Try lying to the retailer , in my case it worked

I have found a friend with Grand X Pro , i made a ROM Dump and so I sucessfully made a MIUI Port for Grand X Pro
He will be away for 4 Months so he cannot give me more files which i will need. I will share the ROM in about 4-5 Days . The ROM is MIUI v5. The installation fully works (tested with kitchens - no fails) , now i only need to make a CWM to get this Rom installed. Here is the ROM which i used as base: Click here.I added fully root permission , swap support and OC support added (no sure if it works , u gotta test it. It was a work like hell so please don't care about if there are any little bugs :good
I have decompiled the stock recovery.img (thanks to kudzo) , and took the files that i need to make an CWM Port.
The CWM is finished , now i only need some people who can test it.
Click here to download my CWM Port.
This CWM port is only made for ZTE Grand X Pro.
If you get into a bootloop , just fastboot stock recovery.img Click here to download stock recovery Just name it to recovery.img and fastboot it.
How to fastboot the CWM recovery.img
1. download ZTE USB drivers
2. download and install Android SDK tools and platform-tools to get adb and fastboot
3. download recovery.img recovery image
4. create a new directory somewhere and copy adb.exe, fastboot.exe and recovery-cwm6032-atlas40.img into it
5. plug in your device via USB cable and install drivers (make sure you've enabled USB debugging on your device)
6. cd into the directory you created and execute following commands in terminal window
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery recovery-cwm6032-atlas40.img
fastboot reboot
8. Boot into Clockworkmod by pressing volume down while powering on or using the command 'adb reboot recovery'
I really hope that CWM works

If you have usb problems then install mobileuncle tool app and then put this file on sd card
.4shared.com/file/Y9zDTbmI/Grand-X-Pro_130418__recovery_1.html
In mobileuncle tap recovery update and there he will show you file on sd card, install that and go to recovery mode

https://www.mediafire.com/?0vo1fzfvilr67dc
Install instructions:
Note : CM-11 is only for jellybean (v20) baseband. If you are on ics (v10) baseband flash v20 baseband from this thread and then make sure you have cwm 6.0.4.8 recovery installed. from beta 4+ you must need cwm 6.0.4.8 to flash. download cwm 6.0.4.8 from here
Wipe data and cache
Flash the CM11 zip
Reboot
boot into recovery mode
Install gapps
Reboot

According to Lifehacker, I have to root my phone first, but I don't know how to do it. I found this guide, but it says it doesn't work anymore. Does UnlockRoot works? It doesn't have LG L-series in its list.
Second, I have to go here and download v20 basebands since my Android version is 4.0.3
Then I have to download cwm 6.0.4.8 from here.
The problem is I don't know what to do with those two files. How and when should I install the new kernel?
CMIIW, but do I just put the zip file on phone's memory card?
Factory reset/wipe is next, I think?
The next step is rebooting while pressing volume buttons, into recovery mode, right? then select the mod from the option (Again, do I just put the zip into memory card?).
I'm sure I missed many things, so I hope you can help me.
Thanks before.

Follow the steps like on website below to install ROM with root and CWM :
http://androidteen.com/lg-optimus-l5-e610612-android-4-1-2-how-to-root-and-install-custom-recovery/
If you have installed ROM from the tutorial above follow the steps below :
1. Download ROM which you want and copy to SD Card ( v10 baseband 4.1 +, v20 4.4 kitkat + )
2. Go to CWM ( Hold Volume down, Home and Power button )
3.Update CWM from link below :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2163698
3. Restart CWM.
4. Do wipe data and cache.
5.Install baseband v10 or v20.
5. Install ROM and the kernel if it has included.
6.Restart phone and wait.
Thanks. But after following several links, I got here. It shows the tutorial for 4.0.3, I believe I should use this one instead? Your link is for 4.1.2. Besides, the root package is smaller (3MB) compared to the one in your link, 360MB. Can use it instead?
The instruction told me to copy recovery.img at CWM step. I have CWM 6.0.4.8 from the cyanogen thread, but the recovery.img size is bigger (7MB vs 5MB), is it the same, or I should be using the 5MB one from rooting tutorial? If they're the same, I prefer using the 7MB one from cyanogen thread.
About Backup, LG PC Suite offer me a backup option, is that enough, or I should use/install another backup application?
THanks again

I don't know that. I did this from 4.1.2 JellyBean. If you are on 4.0.3 version follow the guide from the link. Or hold on for somebody who did this from 4.0.3 and knows more.
Doing it from 4.0.3 is much harder.
You must install root then unlock bootloader then install CWM (that 7mb file will do the trick) then u must to flash BASEBAND to v20 to be able to use CM11.
Much easier is to flash your phone via KDZ with v20d+root+cwm.kdz (wich have buildin root cwm unlock boot etc) then u have to just update cwm to 6.0.4.8/6.0.4.9 via zip then flash cm11 no need to think about basebands etc.
Just flash your phone with v20d+root+cwm.KDZ and problem away
Alright, I think I got it. I managed to flash CM11, although got a little trouble when unlocking bootloader. I'll remember KDZ if I ever need to redo the process again
Anyway, I can't seem to boot into recovery mode anymore. holding volume+power+home doesn't get me anywhere, while reboot recovery from adb/terminal gives me neverending LG-Logo loading. Did I do something wrong? The rom and everything works perfectly before, only this recovery mode that doesn't work, which means I can't flash anything anymore...
EDIT: I got into recovery mode. I have to 'su' from phone terminal, not from adb or anything else.
But now, after I installed Google Apps, the touchscreen stopped working. I don't know what to do anymore...
Well i dont understand what u did in first sentence.
U installed CM11 and after that u wanted to unlock bootloader? thats wrong.
Let me Tell it again.
Flash your phone with v20d KDZ via KDZ tool. THATS IT no need to unlock bootloaders etc
Put this on your SD Card http://www.mediafire.com/download/0ywu6ri06c94l4z/cwm6.0.4.9.zip
Turn your phone OFF.
VOLUME DOWN + HOME + POWER until vibration then release power to enter recovery.
WIPE DATA/CACHE
Advanced > WIPE DALVIK
Install from ZIP
Now choose secondd option to browse SD Card
Point cwm6.0.4.9.zip and flash it.
Reboot to system
Turn OFF again
Enter CWM flash CM11.
Reboot
No, the first sentence was from before I knew about KDZ. I was still trying to root and unlocked bootoader, but I got a wrong file. e612 is using different bootloader from e610, but e612F is using e610 one instead of e612, hence I got the boot loop. I checked model number in Android setting and on the box, it says e612, but when I wanted to open the battery, there's a model number on the phone, saying it's e612(f).
But everything works perfectly now. I get my CM11 working. The broken touchscreen also works (weirdly, after I put my SIM Card). Except one thing: I've never been able to enter recovery mode from start up using volume+power+home, even until now. I always have to boot into phone, then choose restart into recovery mode.
CM 11, CWM 6.0.4.9.
Anyway, if I ever want to re-flash CM or another room, or have some broken thing that I have to wipe /system, do I have to re-flash v20, or just the rom?
Also the kernel, if I want to flash a kernel, do I just flash it without any need of special order (like wipe cache first, then kernel, the rom, etc.)
Just the ROM.
But if u format /system remember to have anything ready on sd card to flash right away because if u reboot phone with formated system woth out flashing new rom then well..... KDZ
KDZ only if your phone die in a way it will stuck at LG LOGO and even recovery wont work. Then KDZ. In any other situation when recovery work then only rom flashing via CWM nice and easy
So VOL DOWN + HOME + POWER (PREFERABLY IN THAT ORDER) then release POWER after vibration dont work for ya?
Mine phone under battery says e610/e612(f) wich is just clean e610 xD just saying.

I see. I'll make sure to back up it on the card then
Yeah, it does nothing. The LG Logo disappear, and the Back and Menu buttons are flashing forever (longest try is for about 3 minutes, still no result) until I release Power button, then the Logo reappear and continuing like normal boot. There's no vibration or anything like that.
Ah, mine is like that too. Then what should we choose if we get kernels/option for different types again in the future, e610 or e612? This half-hearted serial number is confusing
Pure e610 nothing more. Its simply l5 with NFC and single SIM.
Strange when i press vol down then add home and power buttons flash then phone vibrates and i release power LG logo appear then i stop pushing anything and after 30 SEC 1 min im in cwm.

Ah, it works!
thanks a lot!
I read somewhere it was "Volume + Power, then hold Home when the light turns on"
There should be no "when the light turn on" =_=
THanks a lot!
I see.. CM11 disable/not tested NFC anyway, so it basically is really a pure 610
Yeah only Android Beam work from NFC module. NFC it self (with nfc tag) dont work since CM10.2.
so, cm11 beta 9.1 is unusable. the battery drain is too high, 10% in 2-4 hours with or without framework fix. my option is to revert back to beta 9 and unable to rec video/sound and unable tp use VoIP, or change to another rom.
do you have any other rom suggestion?
Lperia but on android 4.1.2 ( optima team ) AOKP, SlimKat ( CM11 ), mod of stock 4.1.2 but very very fast., and now i have unofficial CM11 4.4.3
Sent from my LG-E610 using XDA Free mobile app
I dont have such drain on CM11 with patch even without patch its not that high.
Check with some wakelock detector what keep your phone awake.
My top 4 are
google service (Mostly sync),
1013 (what is this? Type system(media), Mostly audiomix. I didnt touch aausio/music things),
Android system (again, audiomix),
and BlackBerry messenger
currently 50% in about 8.5 hours.
Google service shouldnt be even listed there even IF sync is on.
1013 i dont have it at all.
I think u suffer from google services 5.0 bug with cm. Download some proces killer and block SystemUpdateService and it will solve problem till next beta with updated sources from cm with fix.

i downloaded zapper task killer, but couldn't find the process systemupdateservice. I'll try another app later.
1013 and google service only appear if I check show system process from wakelocker detector settings.
my battery this morning, 96% in ~1hour, with the main culprit being Android, 1013, and bbm. beside bbm, the top 5 seems to be system related.
next update is.. next month, right?
What process from Android system and google services wakelock ur phone?
89% wake lol mine is 2% wake xD
Check with Battery Stats Plus in Wake section wich part of OS and wich process inside is creating problem.
Hello, I am facing a major issue here, I had CM13 nightly 20151214 and I applied a theme, I even can't remember its name then the mobile rebooted then it stuck in a boot loop since then.
I have tried so many times and I can't get into the recovery!! Don't know why! I was on TWRP 2.8.7.3 bumped and everything was working perfect until that restart.
I still can access the download mode but I don't want to flash the stock rom now as I have so important files on the phone and I want to back it up first; and since I can't access the recovery to copy the files or flash another rom I am out of options!!
Your help is much appreciated here.
Phone: LG G2 D802 International version
I think that Android M created a smaller /system partition and in turn caused problems when you wrote to it and did not have space left. The only thing I can suggest is keep trying to boot to recovery...

Try either the vol down plus power, and I know there is another but I can't remember it, just do some regarding the different bootloaders..
Try vol- plus power when see lg logo release and press volume+ and vouleme-
I couldn't access the recovery (despite the fact that I know the combination very well) and also wasn't able to flash a stock rom.
After many tried and so much help in the following thread, I was successfully able to install a stock rom and here is the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64331109&postcount=11256
