Video Camera error - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm getting an error "Warning Recording Failed" when trying to film.
I'm stock, unrooted and have latest updates. Only had the phone 3 days, only just tried recording.
Any ideas?
Thanks

same to me ..
did you fixed problem ?

Had the same problem while using AutoBoy BlackBox, it's an app for video recording while driving. First the app gave a message that I have an error with the camera and cannot use it. I tried opening the camera app and gave the camera error.
I fixed it by killing AutoBoy app. Check to see what apps you have open that might be using the camera.

Cm7 Camera Reboot

Hi all,
Cm7 problem. I was at the Bruins parade today trying to record some video, and there times I got a reboot. Was recording in "YouTube" quality. Also got some force closes in the regular camera. Anyone know how to fix this?

What kernel?
Also, why an outdated "stable version"?
copy the contents of ur dcim folder. then delete your dcim folder. reboot phone. phone will recreate dcim folder and hopefully everything should work fine.

Why YouTube quality. Just record in the highest quality. It will still upload to YouTube just fine and will look better

As soon as I get the chance I will try that, thank you.

[Q] Problem with pictures not displaying

Hello,
I have a problem with pictures on my N4.
After flashing Cyanogen yesterday, I noticed today after trying to take some pictures, that they don't show up in gallery, they only show up as grey boxes. Same is true of any other picture in the memory, however picasa pictures are shown.
The picture problem also extends to some other apps, for example the official Twitter app or the 9gag app. Some other apps show pictures, such as Facebook or Google+. QuikPic alternate gallery app also shows pictures correctly.
I am on latest nightly of CM.
FWIW I also have a problem with camera app that shuts down when I change mode to video recording, but I wouldn't say it's connected and I accept that in a nightly.
Could anyone help me? Thanks

Interestingly enough, if I use edit option in the gallery, it shows the pictures just fine.
Tried flashing latest nightly and wiping cache, didn't help.

Wipe the data for the gallery app

Unfortunately, that doesn't help at all.

Seems like a fair bit of Job Limiter warnings in logcat. Off to read about it a bit.
Can I somehow attach it here from the xda app by the way?

When grepping Twitter from logcat I ran into the oh-too-familiar "Permission Denied".
I tried chmod to triple seven and fixing permissions from TWRP. Didn't help, but the next thing did, I did a backup and restore of data/media, and the process remounted the filesystem with proper permissions.
Now, all works.

You tube issues

I'm having trouble with the you tube app. I can only view one video, after this in order to view another I must close the app and reopen it. It's like I lose connection or something. If I click on another video or search the little circle just turns and turns forever never loading anything.
I'm running the latest paranoid android, but this has been an issue for a while and I've just been ignoring it.

Try wiping the YouTube cache/data.
If that does not help try removing any changes you did to the PA Settings to the YouTube app.

Did you try to clear data for the Camera app?
The message that was reported in the media as a defect is "Warning: Camera Failed" not a regular force close.

If the error persists, try a full wipe. If even with the full wipe it doesn't works... then you might have a dead camera, seek replacement.

Does any camera app work? How bout Open Camera? I say if both don't work it's hardware and if Open Camera works it's probably an app issue?

Just tried open Camera and it says failed to open camera. May be in use by other program. So I guess it's a hardware issue huh?

My guess the camera is bad.
Force stop on the stock camera to make sure it isn't interfering with open camera.
You could try Factory Reset via Recovery.
Already tried both and even did the repair function on Verizon upgrade assistant where it reinstall the firmware
