I followed the advice by a few members here to hard reset my rooted stock note 3 after the live wallpaper picker was no longer working. What followed the hard reset was A BIG SHOCK. I was left with only the google voice keyboard as I have forgotten to "re-enable" the samsung keyboard (basically renaming the apk to apk.bak) with a utility app prior to hard resetting (I had been using Go keyboard all along). Now I realise I do not have the default Samsung keyboard anymore to use to reactivate my phone's Samsung account in order to use the phone. I have tried using the google voice keyboard to enter the username and password but this was impossible. As I see it I only have 2 options at hand:
1. Somehow gain root access via USB on my PC so I can access the system/app folder and rename the samsung keyboard apk to "re-enable" it. How can I get access to the root folder from my PC so I can find and rename the apk?
2. Re-root with the De La Vega - basically reflashing my phone with the rooted stock ROM so maybe I could return to TRUE factory default and have my samsung keyboard back. I'm a noob so I'm worried this will somehow trip my Knox counter???
I so regret disabling the samsung keyboard for the benefit of a few megs of RAM. Now I'm stuck with a useless phone and can't use it after hard resetting. I have already done a full backup with Titanium backup pro but I can't get into Touchwiz to restore everything....
PLEASE HELP!!!!

Re-root with de la vega method... If the knox counter hasn't been tripped previously it won't be tripped with this method, however if you have installed a custom recovery or rooted using cf-autoroot then you have already tripped the Knox warranty void counter so it doesn't matter what method you use

I do not understand... I thought by re-flashing I will get everything stock back. Why is the keyboard still missing??? I'm still left with the google voice keyboard!

You could try if you haven't already downloading the stock firmware for your phone from sammobile and flash that with Odin.... Can't see why that wouldn't work....
rooted 0 x 1 n9005 ?

i somehow got the the "no keyboard thing" and always force close after installing cwm and triggered the know to 0x1. anyway returned it to the company and gave me new one haha

That's the Samsung Keyboard on the Note 3. Just install it onto the device. If you can't open a website or log in to Google Play on your device, push it through from your pc.
MobileGo app
I had the same problem. I uninstalled original keaboard on my rooted phone, because i was using another one and I wanted to spare some MBs of memory. Then I did the factory reset. I installed MobileGo in my PC, downloaded keyboard app and installed it from the PC into the phone. Then I was able to create google account in the phone and install other apps from google store.

Hey guys, need some help. I've searched around and tried to do different things but I'm afraid that I might be stuck (due to my limited knowledge of working with androids).
So I rooted my Fascinate and installed ROM manager and clockwork recovery onto it. Well, after fiddling around with it for a few weeks, I feel like I’ve gotten my self into a position where I’ve lost the way back. So now, I’ve tried unrooting using a couple of methods (update.zip and one click unroot) but it fails every time. This led me to believe that root/super user was not gone from my system (Super User icon/app is still there). This morning, I installed Titanium Back up and it said it couldn’t start because my phone is not rooted. I go into the Super User app and no app has requested it. I’m just kinda lost at this point and want my phone back to the state when I had first purchased it.
Now I know there is the Odin way, however, his post says that his files include superuser and busybox already installed – this I don’t want. I want the unrooted factory Samsung Fascinate state back. I was thinking about using the “factory reset” option in the settings but wanted to get your opinion on this before proceeding (since several posts said to do it where as others said don’t do this way).
Can someone help this clueless android n00b? Please?
If you do a factory reset superuser will still be installed.
When I did Oden restore i think I had to re-root my phone.
You could also root your pone again, then un-root to remove superuser.
Why do you care? My wife and I both have gotten replacements because of hardware defects. Both phones were rooted and they never questioned it either time.

Actually, the system file in that thread does have SU/Superuser.apk/Busybox, but otherwise it's stock.

This did the trick!!
I used the the z4root app from appbrain, rooted and unrooted. SU = Gone!! Amazing!
Thank you!!
I am using the International GSM Galaxy s4 (i9500). I am one of the foolish people who rushed into 4.3 (the Russian ROM doing the rounds - I9500XXUEMJ5_I9500SEREMJ5_SER) without doing sufficient research. Initially it wouldn't even boot properly, and apps would keep crashing, but after a factory reset 4.3 is working okay. I knew that the device would get unrooted, but I didn't know Samsung had a giant turd hiding up its sleeve named Knox. Now in Odin Mode it shows "warranty bit" as "1" I have tried rooting, and everything seems to go as per plan, but it doesn't root it. When I boot the phone I get these annoying notifications - "SuperSu attempted to access system on your device without authorisation" and that the attempt was blocked blah blah blah.
Things I have tried:
I have tried rooting it using crossfire (CF-Auto-Root-ja3g-ja3gxx-gti9500), and everything goes smoothly. It downloads it in Odin mode and then goes to the red screen (recovery mode) where all the messages seem to be okay. It then boots up fine. Everything in dandy. But no root. SuperSU says "There is no SU binary installed, and Super SU cannot install it. This is a problem! If you just upgraded to Android 4.3, you need to manually re-root - consult the relevant forums for your device." The only thing I have found on forums / google is to try using the CF-Auto-Root file mentioned before).
I have tried flashing CWM and using the root option in the recovery mode menu. It says it's rooted and asks me to reboot. But same thing - no root.
Frustrated by this, I decided to go back to the way things are (If it ain't broke, don't fix it - stupid me!!!) I downloaded a 4.2.2 stock ROM firmware file which a lot of people online are recommending (INU-I9500XWUBMG5-20130726135330) but now when I try to flash it using Odin 3.9, it gives me a couple of error messages in the box in Odin and on the phone something like "Unsupported Version" comes and then it does nothing. I have to pull out the battery, and no progress.
While Knox is a horrible thing Samsung has done, it will probably not affect my day to day usage, so I am fine waiting for a solution to reset it if and when it ever comes and hope that I don't need to use the warranty or alternatively they don't enforce that stuff here in India (more out of ignorance than goodness of heart)). But not having root on my phone is very tough. Unfortunately I can't use many of my apps that require root (Titanium, Avast etc.) - and I don't see what business it is of Samsung if I want to use legit apps that require root in order to enhance my experience.
What are my options (if any )? I am open to using any other (stable) ROMs like cyanogenmod etc. if that provides a solution. Or do I just have to wait till the geniuses (crossfire etc.) figure it out?
Same problem here. I'm waiting for someone to fix it.
Seems like a lot of people around the world have the same problem as I do. I guess we will have to wait. Meantime, I guess I will try flashing the Indian firmware that just came out today (if only I had waited a day!). The Indian one seems to have Knox too, but I feel kind of like in the walking dead - we are all infected, and can't do **** about it.
I imagine whenever crossfire comes out with the root file for 4.3, it should be applicable for all region 4.3 firmwares?
no problem with root
This is interesting to me because i downloaded the mentioned 4.3 Russia rom and flashed it. After i flashed the cf auto root and now i have root. The only thing i have is i cant seem to install knox which it is saying your device is not authorised to enter knox mode. Not sure but i suspect it is because i have root. In download mode it says custom and warranty is 1.
sorry.. i forgot to mention i have the i-9500 international version.
solved!
I don't know, will it be working on update that installed by OTA, but i know that it works if you flashed update by ODIN. Now i have fully functional rooted russian 4.3 firmware.
First, you must know that this method will void your warranty, because it will activate warranty bit counter.
1. Flash the update and wipe data and cache.
2. Do not setting up your device.
3. Enter to downlod mode again, and flash the cofface recovery.
4. Enter to recovery and install the special Chainfire's supersu for 4.3 (look in attachment of this post.)
5. Reboot and setup your phone, but anyway DON'T TRY to use knox, and if you will see dialog window, where it is written about some protection - decline it every time as you see it!
6. Now, you need to stop knox services in application manager. Just stop all aplications that have "knox", and some agent that hase different name, but same icon.
7. Now you can use root, but you need to uninstall all knox services before reboot, because knox will be running again and block su binary. I used RootAppDelete.

still no luck bro ... I have removed all Knox related files through aroma file manager. installed root binary provided by you . installed auto root ... but still no luck
seems some problem with my phone
do I have to do factory reset ?
Yeah... I doubt that method would work. Plus after spending hours manually reinstalling apps and setting up accounts etc. I don't want to factory reset unless it's a sure thing. (Since I don't have root, I can't use Titanium Backup to restore my apps + data).
Is there any news on any method to root the i9500 on 4.3?
I flashed the Indian firmware, and it's working very well! (apart from the Knox b.s.)
4.2.2 downgrade from 4.3 Official Russian
Hi Friends,
I need your help.
I have upgraded to 4.3 Russian FW through ODIN. When i connected to KIES it says 'This device is not supported by KIES"
When i try Firmware upgrade and initialization, it says that it can restore to original firmware MG9. Somewhere here i have read that downgrade is not available. So if try will i brick my device. I would like to go back to original 4.2.2 and wait for official update for Africa as i am from Kenya.
Otherwise 4.3 is very fast and smooth and camera app is working very fast, better battery performance and no hanging.
I will appreciate any help. Thanks

I downloaded a 4.2.2 stock ROM firmware file which a lot of people online are recommending (INU-I9500XWUBMG5-20130726135330) but now when I try to flash it using Odin 3.9, it gives me a couple of error messages in the box in Odin and on the phone something like "Unsupported Version" comes and then it does nothing.

Hi @VebKr, seems like I did same with you, , and now my warranty bit has became 1 already, and I couldn't turn it back to 0, I've searched how to do it, but I couldn't find it. And now, I don't know what to say, but seems like I lost my warranty because of that, I've just bought this phone last month actually. Is there anyone who able to make it back?

Mate you should have read the whole post before flashing the rom frankly now there is nothing you can do as i and @ll_r1d0_ll were discussing about the same so you should have waited for little more time before flashing the wanamlite 3.1 i got a new myself a new s4 so now the old one is having wanamlite which is tremendous i just loved it but still having a second thought on updating my new s4 to custom .. will wait for some time for some of the magician here on xda will turn the wheel, so we might get lucky.
I updated my phone today and I was able to root it an disable KNOX.
I used CF-Autoroot http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/ and it worked flawlessly and when I was updating the binary I got the option to disable KNOX.
Root Instruction:
1. Flash with Odin
2. Add a google account incase it has not been setup yet.
3. Install SuperSU from Market.
4. Open it and it wil ask you to update binary.
Respect to the developer.
Futhermore, I got CWM with one of the methods I was using when on JB 4.1.2
PLS NOTE: You will lose warranty if phone is rooted at this time. If you will like to keep your warranty with no possibility to go back to an older android version, please AVOID rooting your ROM and wait for custom ROM with KNOX disabled
Cheers,
But.. I don't know whether to use the i9305 or I9305T files :/
My device is I9305T but has been running I9305 FW (and probably bootloaders) for a while...
For those who need some more links/instructions:
Backup your data, SMS, settings - and make sure you got an IMEI backup
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1946915
If you use Google's 2-Step Verification, make sure you can receive the SMS via a 2nd phone or have a backup option like landline or authenticator app.
I removed my SD card (just in case) and did a full system wipe just to get rid of everything I did to my system over the last year:
Hold down volume up, home and power buttons, when screen turns on, leave these buttons, do the full system wipe. (Don't think this is really necessary though.)
Install 4.3 on your i9305
http://www.androidegis.com/how-to/install-android-4-3-update-galaxy-s3-lte-i9305/
Switch the phone off after first book (at SIM PIN prompt).
Get CF-Auto-Root and install it
EDIT: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957273
Now after your phone booted you can run the Samsung setup. Add your Google account.
Install SuperSU from the Play Store - not SuperUser
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.supersu&hl=en
Update the binary and disable KNOX
Enjoy
For me what worked, was installing PhilZ Touch (latest version), and using the built-in rooting function of the recovery. Then, installing SuperSU gave me perfect root.
Does anyone know if Koush's superuser app works in any way in this release? I would prefer to use an open-source superuser app.

Did you mean to link the [GT-I9505 + GT-I9505G] CF-Auto-Root page, or should we get the file from [GT-I930x/T/N][SHV-E210*][SHW-M440S] CF-Auto-Root?

I don't understand if this method preserves the warranty.
No , it doesn't . By flashing CF-Root you will get Knox count 1 .

Uh. I think, at this point, that the best thing (for me) is to not update.
Update using Heimdall, and skip flashing tz.img and sboot.bin. Be aware that this will break WiFi until a custom kernel is released

Thanks for sharing this interesting experience.
But I think it would be kind of you to edit the OP to say in a very visible way that someone doing that looses his warranty with no possibility to go back at this time (until a solution is found, but no one knows if this will ever be the case ...) because of the new Knox bootloader and the new Knox warranty void flag.

Thanks mate for clarifying the issue of Knox flag and warranty. I will wait for a dev to make Knox-free rom.
if you'd like to have 4.3 stock rom with root and warranty, you can update your phone to 4.3 using Mobile Odin PRO latest version (3.85). Let's say you're on 4.1.2, just download 4.3 for your phone, move it to phone storage, flash it using Mobile Odin PRO with EverRoot and Inject Mobile Odin features. This way you'll have a 4.3 rooted in warranty.

I think I've read that Mobile Odin isn't able to flash the bootloader. If this is really the case then it is true (old bootloader = no Knox flag). Note that you will also need to flash a custom kernel cause stock 4.3 kernel without Knox bootloader breaks wifi.
SHV-E210K
how can you root SHV-E210K with official 4.3 firmware?

What about triangle away? (Or downgrading to a earlier stock Knox free ROM and than triangleing away?)
I rooted my device with Kingo Android root. I am currently running android OS 4.3.
Everything was going just fine until just today when opened SuperSU and it told me that there is no SU binary installed. SuperSU cannot install it.
Pretty much I need to manually re-root my device.
I am not aware of any recovery files that I may have. To clarify, I have never backed up my device in any way. I have only had it for a month, and there is hardly anything on it. I figured, why bother? Well now I know.
I have done quite a few google searches about this, and I can not find any help.
What is my best course of action?
Thank you very much.
Try reflash and re-root with cf-auto root through Odin. A a small question: u still have root right to install some app such root explorer and titanium backup?

Unfortunatly, I no longer have root. None of my root apps can get root permissions because the SU binary is missing.
I tried flashing my firmware, but now my phone is stuck in an unusable state. The official firmware leaves me unable to boot with a "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
When I flash a different ROM on top of that one, all my spen stuff is messed up.
This is way different from jailbreaking. There are so many rom files I have a hard time finding the one I need.
SM-900A in case anyone wants my number.

You need to go on sammobile and download your stock firmware (you probably want to stay on 4.3 unless your particular phone and carrier have root capabilities on 4.4.2 which verizon and att do not yet have) then flash it through odin... just search your model # through sammobile and it will show all the available stock firmwares. That will at least get you running again then u will have to root it again from there
Posted from my beast of a VZW Note 3!!
I downloaded the firmware from that site and have tried to flash it.
I get an Error Meassage:
SW REV CHECK FAIL : [sb1]Fused 2 > Binary 1

Updating SuperSU is what cause this mess, I believe. It's too late for that now anyhow, because my phone does not boot.
I have the SM-900A. There is no cf-autoroot for it. Not that I canfind at least.

I am using an old samsung galaxy s4 that my grandma bought from a pawn shop. It was rooted when she bought it. I want to unroot the phone because I really have no interest/experience in having a rooted phone, and one of the apps I use frequently is Snapchat and I can't log into Snapchat when my phone is rooted for some reason? So I looked up a tutorial on how to unroot using Odin and it seemed fairly simple so I tried it and I keep getting a red "failed!" in the box. Am I missing a step? am I doing something wrong? I don't understand. I am new to this I have no experience rooting phones what so ever and I'm scared I'm going to mess it up but it's been fine all 3 times I've tried, it just keeps failing. Please help me. I mean I don't absolutely need to have snapchat so if there's no way I can unroot it successfully I'll just give up, but it would be nice to be able to use it again.

Having root is like having administrator rights on Windows, it does not harm your phone or anything unless you do something like flash a file that is not made for it. Snapchat probably just needs to be uninstalled then reinstalled.
Anyway...
There are 2 ways to unroot. The first method is to download the superSU app from the Google play store. SuperSU is a root management app and has an unroot option built into it. The next method is using ODIN like you are using, however you have to find the right ODIN stock .tar file for the bootloader you're on (or a compatible .tar that lets you downgrade like NB1). Once you have the right .tar file, just flash over what you have and it should get you back to 100% stock without root.

Okay, so I downloaded SuperSU and did the unroot option. It loaded for a few minutes, then the app closed, I rebooted my phone and SuperSU was gone. I really don't know how to tell if it's still rooted or not? but I think it is because snapchat STILL won't let me login. in order to tell if it was still rooted or not I redownloaded SuperSU (bc Idk any other way of knowing if it's rooted or not) and now when I open the app it gives me an alert saying "root undetected" and the only option it gives me is "how to root" and I can't do anything on the app. Thanks for the help.

No problem, always glad to help. You can check to see if your phone is still rooted by getting the app called "root checker" from the Google play store. Since you did the unroot via superSU and it disappeared, I am guessing you're now unrooted. However, you should go download root checker to be sure.
