Only for N8020, maybe works also on I925.
Hi
i built a kernel for the latest stock FW based on the Samsung Opensource Kernel tarball.
I just modified the charging-unit driver to allow high currents up to 1,8A on every power source. I use this mod on my n8020 for 4 Days and it works like a charm. It seems, that the charging ic is automatically limiting the current, if the power source is not powerful enough. Dont think about the cross over the battery symbol. I didnt modified the Power Source detection of the whole device. I just patched the charging driver, which will not affect the UI.
Greetings from Germany

Cheers mate!
It's added and modded by the android kitchen for init.d support as well on my new build out soon. You rock!
Another member noticed that his 64gb external sd card unmounts itself repeatedly with this kernel. Not sure why, just thought I would pass it on
Sent from my GT-N8020 using Tapatalk 4
Confirmed NOT working on SCH-i925U (US Cellular Model).
Any chance of investigating why this kernel unmounts certain sd cards? I'm happy to help test with my 64gb SanDisk class 10 which doesn't work and my 16gb Kingston class 4 which does.
Iv tried formatting the 64gb with pc to fat32, exfat and ntfs. The tablet recognises the card, requests a reformat and then unmounts.
As soon as I reflash stock kernel the card works fine
Flashing ok. Now testing with 64gb sd by samsung. I will edit the post if there are errors.
Simon can you make a real customkernel for the n8020 with new features like the kernels for n8000/10/13?
thank you Simon94: Good:

Hi mate after i update my gtn8020 the spen pointer go right of the head of the pen about 2mm can this kernel fix it pls

hello guy's.... maybe this question is relative but I need some direction...any one can tell me what is the most stable rom for iconia a500?

I would suggest any of the Near stock 3.2.1 roms WITH Stock kernel..
Also the rom by Moscow DESIRE IS A GOOD ROOM . .
Fallow all flashing instructions..
good luck..
Thor's Roms based on HC, are pretty good and stable too, just as long as you are not prejudice about who is following gpl or not... Also his ICS ROM is good too, with the exception of camera not working yet...
MD's Alexandra really good.
Civato Flexstriker is good.
Both of those are based on Base HC 3.2.1.
Personally i have played with alot of roms and currently running Honeylicious, but its not available any more. After playing with quiet few ROMs, i came to conclusion that all tablets are dam temperamental. Just because some Rom worked perfectly on some one's tablets from the start; dont mean it will work perfectly on your tablet OR Vice Versa. Which just mean you will have to put little more time in, but in the end they will/should works perfectly. So take your time and play around with ROMs.
Thanks guys for the advice...

I'm actually using Honeylicious 3.2.1, but it seems disappeared from XDA..
I don't know why..
It works pretty good, just a problem when I try to insert my ext hd
For the rest it is very stable e fluid
i believe the developer left xdas iconia forum. Something about sold his device.that rom was based on roms by civato. search his threads in the DEV AREA
Good luck

Try Drive Mount from the Market
3.2.x supports a fat32 partition (sometimes), but if your HD is ntfs, you need Drive Mount.

Shouldn't be a rom bug, KJY used 100% stock OS and kernel. Maybe something got corrupted a little, who knows. only takes 1 bit of 0's and 1's to make a mess Maybe some "rogue" app.
But if you reflash, and it doesn't matter who's rom you use, and it freezes again, well, it's probably a hardware issue. Either the tab or the hdd.
I would guess anyhow. Reflash, and check it before installing apps. If it's FAT32, should see it no problem. NTFS and you'll probably need Drive Mount.
Good luck!
EDIT: Also, try stuffing a flash stick in there, and see if it does the same.
It's best to try and isolate the problem. Can the table connect to a thumb drive with no problems? Can you access the external drive with another device? If the answer to both of those questions is yes, that would point to an issue with the tablet firmware. If the external drive works but the tablet doesn't work with a thumb drive either, it may be a hardware or firmware problem.

some hard drive enclosures just do not work well with the Iconia chipset or drivers. This would depend on who made them. .
I have a few that work flawless. One this is actually a better brand no luck at all.

problem with 3.0.1 PB stock, then I updated it to 3.2.1 PB stock and no freeze with the same hdd plugged in.. Then flashed with MyG100w rom (by XDA) but no try about this problem.. 3 days later i flashed with HL 3.2.1 and it freezes the touchscreen with hdd plugged in..
The hdd is working pretty good, no problem with PC's or tv's, just some troubles with this tablet..
It's a expansion 1tb by seagate, 3 partitions ( 2 ntfs + 1 fat32) and when the USB is correctly plugged in, there's a green led always lighted up, with my tab this led is on, so it's correctly plugged in..

Hey guys,
I know that JB supports exFAT. But as i'm reading through the boards about how to setup the 64GB micro SD card, I'm unable to figure out if the problems people are talking about with this card are related to ICS or JB.
I'm looking to put 1080p or 720p videos that are above the 4gig file format limit so exFAT is what I want to do. Do I have to change to JB to achieve this? Or can I still use ICS?
After hearing some buggy issues from JB Germany stock + new buggy 4.1.1 S note. I'm not ready to switch but I will if that's the only way for my 64 card work properly.
Thanks for your input.

Having had my tablet 2 weeks I ran in to an issue last night where my microSD card will no longer load onto my tablet. It works fine on my PC. This was after I had flashed CIVs 1.7 kernel which lead me to beleive that was the issue. After trying a 32gb card which worked fine I decided to do a search on the web to see if it was the card that was at fault and came accross this...

Civs 1.7 removed native exfat support, if you go back to a stock kernel it'll work fine (im assuming your card is formatted exfat)
You can also use stickmount to mount an exfat partition on Civs
or
You can format your card to be fat32 and it'll be natively supported in almost any kernel (google " how to format a 64gb in fat32")

Read up on Stickmount. although it sounds good at first, it would require me to change the destination folder for all of my mounted apps as it looks like the mounted location is different to what was used in the stock kernel. As such I will most likely reformat to fat32 despite its limitation in files sizes (No large movie files for me).

Native Linux On Galaxy Tab 2
What do you need:
- Micro SD card (at least 2Gb)
- Computer running Linux (to setup the sdcard)
- Otg cable + hub + keyboard and mouse (no touchscreen support(yet))
- Galaxy Tab 2 GT-P31xx!
Installation:
1. Download the neeeded files(cant post links,sorry):
Rootfs "releases.linaro .org/13.08 /ubuntu/raring-images/alip/ linaro-raring-alip-20130826-474.tar.gz"
Kernel + modules "koti.mbnet .fi/racer123/ubuntu.tar.gz"
2. Format your Micro SD as ext4.
3. Extract both archives to the root of your Micro SD.
4. Insert the SD card to your tab, boot to recovery and install "ubuntukernel.zip" from the SD.
5. Reboot. You should see the Galaxy Tab logo and then black screen with just the backlight on.
6. To go to the GUI, press CTRL+ALT+F1 on your keyboard and then CTRL+ALT+F7
7. To bring up the wifi, run "sudo modprobe dhd firmware_path=/lib/firmware/bcmdhd_sta.bin nvram_path=/lib/firmware/nvram_net.txt"
8. Press the thanks button!

Hello XDA community!
As you know, Sammobile announced that I9300 won't get official Kitkat update from Samsung. You can get more information from there;
http://www.sammobile.com/2014/05/07/heres-a-list-of-samsung-devices-getting-the-android-4-4-kitkat-update/
But Samsung released official Kitkat update for International Note 2 (N7100) from OTA. Almost everyone believed in this update is canceled because of low RAM. I did not believe it. So, I started to work to boot N7100XXUFND3 on I9300.
The ROM is about 1.8 GB, we have 1.5 GB partition size for system. There is no way to boot on NAND without partition eMMC. I partitioned my 16GB sdcard and install the ROM to sdcard. I changed the kernel from I9300XXUGNB6. And it booted.
It's running pretty smooth even running on sdcard. Of course it crashes sometimes, but not a big deal. The most important things are not working too (like RIL, WiFi)
Here's a video of demonstration;
Here's RAM usage;
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3U72O5ZZ8z-YmJ6UWlMRmtGZmc/edit?usp=sharing
So, What's your opinion about canceling update?
Only commercials, if they update an with years old phone they don't sell more s4 and s5

Great job brother but huge disappointment as Google stated that kk can work on devices lower than 512mb of ram easily yet Samsung cancelled it due to ram limitations not genuine reason possibly they would bring a update in the near future neglecting a flagship device is seriously awful!
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Well have kitkat, believe me. If you do the same with the KitKat update for the GT-I9305 instead of the Note2 firmware it will be better. Wifi will work, and RIL most probably too after some little changes.
I will try my best to port the upcoming GT-I9305 KitKat update to the GT-I9305. If you could tell me what you have done in order to port the firmware, that would be awesome! Maybe we can team up and start porting as soon as the update is available?
BTW: Why havent you debloated the rom to shrink it a bit? Removing all unnessesary apps from /system/app and /priv-app could make it smaller than 1,5GB

-If Samsung release Kitkat for GT-I9305, I'll do my best for porting it to I9300 too.

Ahh that makes sense amd im happynto hear that you want to team up! In the past i have ported several things and i think that we can do it together! The only thinh i worry about is the RIL. Lets hope samsung releases the S3 LTE firmware soon so we can start working on it.
Also a thing with the S3 LTE is that it has a different partition layout. We must take care of that and be very carefull in what we do. Unlike the note2 we cant just flash it and see what happens.

A few thoughts:
-RIL: I guess the baseband is loading modem FW from NAND even when booting from SD card. Could also be an EFS issue.
-WiFi is probably Knox interfering with module loading, as seen on the I9305.
-Storage is a consequence of booting from SD card.
-Sensors are either a HW mismatch between S3 and NoteII, or a failure to mount the Firmware partition.
Try to debloat and flash on NAND.

Ok. So let get this straight. what you actually did is that you modified build.prop (someone posted once here how it should look) and replaced the boot. (bin, I guess) with a stock kernle from S3, right ? And you installed it on the SD card because you needed more space ? If this is right, then please upload the ROM here, and I will debloat it for you
I will still try to do this. Also, the build.prop was uploaded on XDA with the news that S3 won't receive official KK. I will remove some Google stuff and then let the flash begin

Nope, the video is legit. Look at the lockscreen and the settings app. Baseband version is also unknown, which is a sign that this is a legit port.
P.S: What are you gonna do with this rom? Its useless...WiFi and RIL doesnt work...

I didn't said it is not legit. in fact, I wanted to know what to do to use it myself And I would probably end just by testing it for few hours, probably testing some random modems / (restoring EFS :-? ). And @henrylife , who is porting the S5 ROM said that every 4.3 kernel works on that, so... probably ending dual-booting it. Found on Note II's thread even ROMs with like 600-700MB.

-RIL: I think I just need to change RIL blobs tp get it work. It's easy
-WiFi: Maybe KNOX, maybe WiFi modules (dhd.ko) causes the problem. We should try
-Storage: The storage problem isn't causing by booting from sdcard, I tried boot from sdcard with CM11 and I9300XXUGNB6. Those had not any problems about storage. I think I need to change mount commands in ramdisk.
-Sensors: Android Sensor Service is updated in Kitkat. So, we need newer sensor driver of I9300. Maybe we can use CM11 opensource driver.

I didn't change anything in /system partition. I changed only boot.img. I can't upload it, but if you want to play with this, you can download the ROM from sammobile or samsung-updates.

I'm not gonna contiune to port Note 2 firmware. If Samsung will release Kitkat for I9300, I'll do my best

The Sensor driver should be easy, we can take blobs from the GT-i9305 Update. BTW: Im going to create a developer port thread this evening..lets see what we can do.
To get storage to Mount 100% you will need to modify the vold. Fstab file. Once done your storage should work correctly. If you need help With RIL let me know via PM. Also i Can help you get these bugs ALL ironed out TODAY. Just PM me thanks.
