Is anyone working on other root methods? I'd really like to root without having to wipe my phone if at all possible.

There would be numerous posts announcing this if it were the case.

Announcing that someone was working on it? I just wanted to know if someone intended on working on it. I know there aren't any methods currently.

I know this instruction is given for Verizon Galaxy Note 3, not intend for your device.
But did you even try it without success?

My phone won't root. I don't understand.
Sent from my Star-Tac
No news on that front, especially since BlackBerry are very keen on keeping rooting from happening.
This might explain things: http://blogs.blackberry.com/2016/02/how-and-why-the-priv-protects-against-rooting/
As far as I understand, it is still impossible to root Priv. Sorry.
If you really need too root, flash a rom

How are you going to flash a ROM without root?
Curious to see if the Quadrooter flaw will be able to get us root on the PRIV. It apparently works on the DTEK50, so it would be nice if we could get root on the PRIV too.
EDIT: Priv is vulnerable to this...

There is no way to get a Custom Recovery on the PRIV. That's why we're waiting to see what comes out of the Quadrooter vulnerabilities.

Sorry, I thought it was easy to unlock the bootloader
So I understand that there is a new update out and I'm wanting to upgrade to it. I'm currently rooted and have xposed installed. I was wondering if I will keep root and not have to wipe my device.
If I have to re-root it, could someone please show me the steps to take? I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

Yes, to upgrade to the newest firmware you will lose root and more then likely have to fully wipe your phone, just make sure you back everything up. The root method is the same as when you 1st rooted your phone, but I will leave you a link to the root thread. Always try to search for the answer's before asking question's. Hope this helps you out buddy Click here

Hey bud I hope I caught you before you took the update. I would read the stock rom thread for that update. Something about not updating the bootloader . I have not taken the update as of yet so I dont know about it but here is the thread for it. You might want to ask in there before updating.
How to root the samsung galaxy s8 Active?
Is there a guide for it?
And if anyone had tried to make this S8 Active have stereo sound, it would be very useful like other phone that has stereo, it sounds better.
There is no root for the ACTIVE and most likely never will be one the active 5 and 6 never got root.

I see. Too bad. It isnt popular enough for anyone to root it.
So I shouldn't try this?

Has anyone tried the root mentioned in the above post?
i do not recommend anyone try root from that link. that is a clickbait site and none of the information there is substantiated.
keep away unless you want a brick.

Well, there's "[Root][G892A/U][V1/V2][SamFail][ROM]PartCyborgRom, Root for the Galaxy S8 Active", but I think the take away from that thread is that only the early firmwares were rootable.
EDIT: Specifically, see this post to perhaps get that rooted custom ROM working if you are on a v4 or v5 bootloader.
So I am interested in rooting my LG V20 h91810s. From what I gather I have to roll it back to 10j or i. I have the bootloader unlocked already. But I'm not sure about the rollback. Will a factory reset take it back to 10j or 10i? If not, I haven't been able to find step by step instructions on doing this. I think once I can get it rolled back I should be able to follow https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/instruction-to-root-h918-10i-t3536472 in order to root it. Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.
No can do..... You will make your phone into a paper weight.
So there is no way to root it? I need to root it in order to recover some very important texts. If it can't be rooted does anyone know how I could recover a deleted sms thread?
Thread title changed on OP's request
Thank you very much.
As of right now anything 10p or higher is ARB01. Which means you can't roll back to root. Trying will create a brick. There are people working hard to make it happen but until then it's a waiting game. As for the recovery of SMS hopefully someone can help you. Chances are if you've searched and searched for an answer with no luck, it'll be hard to get that answer here. But you never know. Good luck.
Ah, that sucks. Well tyvm anyway.
We are both on the same boat unfortunately, we'll have to wait patiently.....
Me too waiting to root my h91810s.... hopefully someone will find a method soon.....
Sucks! But I like this phone. It'll be a shame to switch. ?

Yeah no reason for you to try... Cause of it works we would be rooted Samsung style using flashify instead of twrp.

Care to interpret what exactly they did to root? Where to get files and how to? Maybe this can be changed to English format.....
Just wondering if there's a progress thread for the h91810s exploit. I just received mine and it's on the same firmware.
