[Q] Google News "more sources" not working on Chrome - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
I've noticed that when reading news using a Google News search, the usually expandable "more sources" link under a story won't actually do anything. I thought this could have just been my Note 3, but I tried it on a S3 and S4 and neither seemed to expand the list of articles.
For example, If we Google News search "Maple Leafs" to read stories about our favorite hockey team, we can't expand any of the top headlines by clicking on "more sources".
The work around seems to be to request the desktop page, then proceed to click more sources.
Have any of you encountered this before?
Thanks!

Nexus 7 Gone From My Apps After Root

After rooting my Nexus 7, the device is now missing from the "My Apps" section of the Play Store.
Has anyone else had this problem and know what to do?
Possibly not the right answer, but;
Hit the arrow that is sitting next to the search icon at the top of the market home page. That takes you to your downloaded/installed apps, and you can scroll across to see all apps from there as well.
Umm when you root, you lose all your apps, you gotta restore them
The biggest issue is that Google doesn't think he has a nexus. I give it a day or so, in the meanwhile install off of the nexus.

Umm OP is not referring to missing apps. He/she is referring to his/her device not appearing anymore in Google Play. this means he/she cannot use the Play website to install apps on his/her Nexus 7.
As someone else mentioned, just give Google a little while to update itself. another thing to check is to login at play.google.com, click the settings icon (looks like a little gear) at the top right of page and goto 'My orders and Settings' then click the Settings tab, and check if your device is listed but not selected as 'Shown in Menus'

Play store on google chrome

Is there an option or setting in chrome or 4.2.2 that can turn off the popup and allow you to view the play store using chrome? Right now if you click a link going to a page on the play store, a popup displaying your browser and play store apps asking which to open it with. The final option is "always" or "just once", but it only works on the specific link and not the entire domain.
I would like to use the play store from my browser since it appears there are more options available, more info on apps, more search/device options and you can see ALL the apps, not just the ones for your device. I am sure there may be tricks to do these things and more in the play store, but it would be much simpler to just be able to view it with chrome without that darned popup at each link.
Hopefully it is just something simple I am overlooking. Thanks for any help on this one!
Maybe if you clear deafaults on Google Play, it will stop asking which app to use? Installed a couple games through Chrome (on Galaxy Nexus) without getting any popup asking which app to use.

Browser Google Search Links Suddenly Redirecting to Google Play Store App Pages

So for the past few days, when I do a google search in the stock browser on my S5, certain sites (I'm guessing only sites that have Play Store apps) are redirecting me to their play store app page... To be clear, I'll search for something and get a result that should link me to IMDB.COM -- but if I click that result, I get send to the IMDB APP page on Google Play... If I hold down the link and hit OPEN or OPEN IN NEW TAB, it will actually take me to the sites mobile page in the browser like normal.
Any idea what's causing this? I've cleared the browser cash and data, I've cleared Play Store defaults as well. I've tried removing all the individual web page settings inside the browser. I've done a ton of searches and found nothing.
I've actually now noticed that every time I try to link to a youtube video from a google search it just goes to "webpage not available." Again, if hold down on the link and hit OPEN or OPEN IN NEW TAB, it works...
This just started happening out of the blue and I have no idea what changed... And it's super annoying.
Any help greatly appreciated!
I agree. the same thing has happened to me and my wife's phone. When we google search in a browser on our androids, many links will direct back to the "play store" app. Same symptoms and reactions, when long tapping the links to open in new tab, the function works perfectly. And another temporary solution is to activate "desktop mode" if available in the browser, and it won't open the app store, but of course, depending on your device and the browser app, desktop mode can be a little sluggish
Please XDA developers, if any of you know how to solve this issue please let us know. Otherwise it'll be safe to assume that google is leveled up their reign of terror, beginning at relentlessly invading privacy, and now hijacking user experience by literary using actual malware techniques.

Nope, this is different. The article talks about the option of installing apps directly from search results (i.e. the user sees an "install" button inline with search results). Whereas here, the search results themselves are redirecting to the Play store, with no option to keep browsing the link in the browser.

Yes, which could be related to the roll out / bugs during it
Seems slightly coincidental that Google search results are redirecting to the play store, at the same time as Google is rolling out the ability to install apps directly from the results

This has suddenly fixed itself... Links now working normally again for me. Strange. Seems like this might have been some Google roll out bug as Detection mentioned.
Anyway, working for now. My Youtube links still only open in browser (instead of in app) but I'll live with that, I guess.
Thanks!

Check in settings > default applications, that the browser is not set as default for youtube, if it is, clear it, and next time you open a youtube link, it should give the option to choose the app and set that as default
Or reinstall the YT app, and it should auto clear the default

Is it possible that google has superior control over any android device, regardless of the type of rom? where If google wanted to, they can roll out some crazy beta test on everyone's devices and then stop it again, after they've collected enough information from their tests? Whereby making useless the option an android owner gets for allowing google to monitor their device for app malfunctions or not.
My browser is acting normal now too. It seems really weird that a very particular action that is mostly found in malware was forcefully applied to our android browsers, (i don't use chrome, bur the default browser app in my stock rom) for the same amount of time before being taken away. And i know for a fact that it wasn't with anything i've done. Owning android devices for a very long time now (and customizing the such and PCs too) is more than enough experience for me to know that this is no accident, nor foul interpretation of settings on my part.
Just how worthless have these systems and devices become? Is there any safety left anywhere?

Google Assistant Force Closing

Here is the problem, and I have been looking on various sites and forums but thought I would take a peek on XDA and surprised that there isn't much chatter about it in here so wanted to start this thread.
For a few months now I cannot access "Google Now" .
I am running a Rooted Sprint Note 3 and still using Josh's KitKat Killer. Its a GREAT ROM and had been working fine until about Decemberish. Whenever I click on the Google Now Cards, or press the Google App Icon, I get a brief opening of the page with Weather Map and Events etc. but as soon as it loads it crashes out.
I can access a pure voice command search through my Widget to set an alarm, get the weather etc...
I cant help but Note (get it? NOTE!!! Ha!!) but it would seem to have happened at the same time Google Assistant broke onto the scene en masse back in December or so. Coincidence??? hmmmmmmmmmm
I have another phone that also had this problem, (Galaxy S4 Running Lollipop) and quite honestly couldn't get Google to work until I flashed a Nougat ROM and launched the new Google Assistant. I wonder if they are tired of supporting these older phones and are going to force people to up their game by making them upgrade to Nougat phones.
I have seen lots and lots and lots of 'help' sites talk about how if you 'Clear Cache/Uninstall/Re-install/Update' etc that it will work. That is A LIE! And don't talk to me about using the Google Now Launcher (which I am not that thrilled with) because that does not even seem to make a difference either. I have been, and currently using Nova Launcher. The whole process of Install/Uninstall/Install only works once then as soon as it gets a chance to load the data you are back to being screwed. It wont even stay open long enough to access the page to delete/alter/change settings. Very very frustrating.
I cant believe there inst rioting in the streets from millions of disgruntled Google users!!!!
So now I am just not using it. I'd like to but until then it is a hearty HELLO to S-Voice I guess.

Got this phone, but it's blocked by Google verification - how to bypass?

Hey everyone, I hope I'm in the correct forum for this. A friend gifted me his old smartphone, actually it was his uncle's phone who passed away. Now Google won't let me use it, because we don't have the correct login-data. A watched tons of youtube videos, but it seems they're all outdated. The latest are downloading a new keyboard language (this seems to have been fixed) or accessing the YouTube app through clicking on a video in the "help and feedback" section in the TalkBack settings (YouTube is outdated on my phone, so it wants me to update it, but the "not now" option is not available, so I guess this has been fixed as well).
So is there any new method how to bypass this FRP unlock thing? Thanks in advance for answers.
