I think you have to enable 'talkback' in the device settings, (in the device tab under 'accessability')...

google results

Coming from an android phone, I'm quite used to having google results include the google address/phone number/reviews of a particular venue that I look up, such as a restaraunt. However, I'm noticing that with my HD2, regardless of the browser that I use, those "official google" results don't pop up anymore, and all I get are standard links. I used to like how I could simply spot the phone number in the results and click on it to make a call. Can we achieve something like this in the HD2?
Any help guys?
do you mean from within the browser (i.e you go to google and type a search) or from the internet tab search box?
For the browser, you can search on changing the user agent in teh browser to report itself as a non mobile browser,
or to change the properties of the search box in the internet tab, browse the registry to
HKCU/Software/HTC/Manila
find (or create if it doesnt exist) the string value internet.searchurl
and set it to
http://google.co.uk/search?hl=en-GB&output=html&q=%s
this will give standard html google results. play with teh url as you like, but dont leave off the &q=%s (that passes your search box string to google)

[REQ] Need Google Voice App, but ...

I'm looking for application which will initiate Google Voice callback. But there are few requirements:
1. Callback has to be through internet connection
2. I should be able to select 2 phone numbers from the list stored by Google, just like I do in browser
Basically I want to do this:
1. Start application and it will login into my Google voice using 3G/WiFi/Edge
2. Select 2 numbers to call. They are stored in Google Contacts. Having "Smart dial" would be nice.
3. Press "Connect" button
Is there anything like it ? Application, not browser version of Google Voice ?

This is where you should post your request.
And yes as far as i remember there was a GoogleVoice Application, but doesnt work outside USA and Canada.
Thanks. I wish I could move it somehow.
It seems that most apps, like GVDialer dial my Google Voice, enter password and then - initiate a call
This is NOT what I want. I want Google Voice to call both numbers and join them. That is it. Just like you can do it on www.google.com/voice
Sorry Easy SMS is the only one I remember.

Thats for SMS. not calls
So what you want is a conference call initiated with Google Voice.
Hmm. Can't help you with that, but thought I'd clarify your request.

Native Android SMS Application on Nexus 7?

So I'm using Google Voice for texting but the interface isn't the greatest and I don't like how my sent messages don't really appear on the main Google Voice app when you open it. I used to use Handcent for my texting needs on my last Android device but since this tablet is wifi only I don't have a native texting app. I'd love to be able to use another texting app with my Nexus 7 that uses Google Voice. I tried installing a few different one and even trying an App which claimed to add Google Voice usability to third party sms apps. Anyone have any ideas?
Note: I use this tablet as my phone. I don't have a cell phone. I use this tablet with a mobile hotspot to access the 3g or 4g networks.
You could try desk sms. The app itself isn't yet compatible with the n7, but you can set it up in a desktop browser and set it to sync with Google Talk.
Then you can use Google Talk to send and receive texts
Thanks for the suggestion I'll try to check that out soon but it seems very similar to the other I app I used before. I'd really like to use Google Now's voice to text to text while on the go and I would need a native SMS app for it to do so. Right now it just says 'This feature isn't supported on this device.' Or something like that.

4.2 + Google Voice

I'm talking about Google's free calling and texting app Google Voice. I use it on my iPhone to...you guessed it, get free texting and calling.
I was at the store trying out the S4, and I downloaded the google Voice app, but its nothing like the iPhone app...
How does Google Voice get implemented into Android. I want to be able to get free texting and calling like I do on my iPhone..
Any help?

Text works from app. Free calling try GrooVeIp. It uses your google voice.

It uses the native dialer to make calls. When you make a call it's gonna ask you which you want to use to call it (real phone number, or Google voice number)

So Basically I can always set Google Voice to make calls when I initiate them from the stock phone app, and I use the actual Google Voice app when I want to text somebody?

Yes, however, make sure you understand that calls made with the Google Voice App (through the stock dialer) still use minutes. The way it works is:
1. Phone calls google
2. Phone tells google what number to call
3. Google calls number
4. Google connects caller
You will just call the number normally and all this will happen, but it still uses minutes. In order to get "free" calling, you would need an app like GrooveIP, which uses data to connect to google's server and start (and continue) the phone call (equivalent to calling from your computer).
