Hi All,
So I seem to be having a weird issue, and I don't know if it is my phone, or simply connection issues.
I got my Note 3 last night and it seemed to hang on "Downloading" for app updates. It seemed more prone to it if the phone went to sleep, and then it would take a while to kick in once it woke up.
There doesn't seem to be an issue when the phone is awake, but if the phone turns off.
Anyone else having issues?
Thanks
I have the issue sometimes. You just have to hit the x next to the DL bar and re install.

Until yesterday if I had an app like Pandora or ESPN Radio playing/running when the screen kicked off the app would keep playing. However, now when the phone goes to sleep everything else gets shut off. I have not altered anything myself per se. Even uninstalled a few apps like AutoKiller [which I had installed for weeks and everything worked fine with it on and installed] but the problem persists and remains. This really perplexes me as I want/need these apps to play with the screen off like they did before. For the life of me I don't know why this is; nor can I find anything in settings to change.
Help!?
I haven't noticed this with Pandora but the NPR apparently stops playing about 15 minutes I turn the screen off.

Well it magically works fine now. For the life of me I could not tell you what caused it or what I did to cure it. I guess problem solved
Hi all,
I'm experiencing an issue on my stock 4.1.1 Nexus 7. The screen seems to be turning itself on randomly. It normally turns off again but may toggle on/off quite a few times. Then it seems to go for a while whitout turning on. Bit odd.
Anyone else experienced this or have any thoughts on a reason for it?
Thanks
Same problem here, except with a Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
I just updated to 4.1.1 today and this is the first time I've seen it happen. Was previously on 4.02 without issues.
I have had the same problem. It seems to happen in the evening and I wondered whether the case was causing it to overheat. Seems to be OK when I take it out of the case. I phoned Google and was told that it hadn't happened before. I will contact them again if it doesn't get any better.
Sorry. Misread the post. Mine goes to sleep, not turns on

Same here but mine is not exactly stock.
I have installed Apex Launcher plus numerous apps. I thought maybe it was the launcher doing it. But at this point... I have no idea. Just noticed it tonight coming on and then going off within 1 sec. but its random. it may do it once within an hour, or it may do it up to 5 times within a min... then go several minutes completely black screen. Crazy stuff. I thought maybe it was getting a message at first but then realized I had the WiFi off on my phone so it was dead to any incoming messages/wifi. I am really curious as to what is causing it and will be following this post as well as others quite frequent. Also.... the latest app that I have downloaded was OSMOS HD. it wasn't waking then sleeping before that app... just my 2 cents.
Hi Qbensis,
By stock, I just mean not rooted and not running any custom firmware. I had various apps and the like installed.
I have actually since rooted my N7 and installed a few custom ROMs and since then have not seen the issue at all. If you want to stay stock, I assume the issue will be fixed in the next update
I have seen this a few times. Middle of the night I look over and the screen is on then off. I check the power usage overnight and I see little blips of screen on when looking at the graph. Not sure whats causing it (I figure a app).
Same Problem over here, any solutions???
I'm on stock 4.1.2 and having the same problem, not rooted. Creeped me out in the middle of the night when it goes on and off.
N7 Random Turn On
Same here on 4.2.1. I carry in front pocket all the time with screen facing leg and feel heat when it happens. Has even done it when in Power Off mode and still does it. I thought that would prevent it for sure. Very irritating and drains battery. We Winter in 55+ community and drive around in golf carts. I am starting to wonder if WiFi spots trigger it. Will continue to track behavior and search other forums. Curious that there have not been any solid suggestions or solutions.
Happens to my rooted but stock 4.2.1. It happens randomly when I recharge using a battery pack (4AA) as opposed to charging using regular AC. It's annoying as heck! I don't know how to get this fixed!
I've been getting this on both SmoothROM and raspbeanjelly, and it's very irritating.
It has to be an app that is causing this. I initially thought perhaps it was GPS Status, because I caught it in the notification bar a few times when the screen turned on.
My device definitely isn't hot when it happens.
I'm suspecting the Email app, Maps, or Facebook.
EDIT - not any of them either. I'll test Beautiful Widgets next.
Okay guys, try this.

I'd been suffering from this for weeks, factory reset, reinstalled and changed out ROMs, installed apps one by one over the course of several days to keep an eye on what might be triggering it etc. Nothing worked for more than 2-3 days at most, and the issue always came back in one way or another.
It was causing me to have to turn the Nexus off when not in use because it would be draining battery (15-20% overnight compared to 2-3% when the issue wasn't present).
Then I stumbled upon that guide and using Gemini I disabled Maps from auto-running, turned off Latitude, and so far so good.
If it works for you too, be sure to hit thanks on Karpfenhai's post!
I was having this same problem on my Nexus 7 running stock 4.2.2 rooted with SuperSU. Finally tracked it down to having installed BetterBatteryStats and for some reason, I had not granted it perpetual root. It was causing the device to wake and turn the display on for random times (up to 13 hours, which killed the battery), not always showing the SU request dialogue. I granted perpetual SU privilege to BetterBatteryStats and problem went away.
Try taking out the battery and clean out the USB port with a toothpick. This worked for me. All the dust that accumulates in the post can cause the phone to think it's charging.
hi everyone sorry if it might be a repetitive issue but I've Googled it and nobody seemed to have my same problem. phone is not vibrating anymore. It was working fine on my desk I picked it up and I noticed that texting doesn't give me the haptic feedback anymore. went through all the settings nothing. I tried to switch from silence to vibration mode to make it vibrate. nothing. Downloaded apps of the kind (tap to vibrate) and it didn't work either. I don't see how the sensor or whatever it is got broken by standing still on my desk.? any suggestions? I've already has this problem with my old nexus 4 but it got solved by itself. This time is getting longer than usual without fixing itself..

did you try rebooting?
yes twice

Could it be an app you installed? especially as you mentioned it has happened before on your old n4.
The fact that you have to wait for it to fix itself is kinda worrying. I think your vibration motor could be dodgy. Could try ringing Google and see if they have any tips? If not you could RMA?
I am sorry for bumping old threads, but it seems like I have had exactly the same issue. It has happened to me 4 or 5 times. I've noticed that vibration disapears after some very intensive cpu activities that makes both cpu and battery significantly warmer than usual...for example doing nand backup and then restore another backup and after short period of time let's say performing a clean installation. Vibration "comes back" after a while. Sometimes it takes half an hour sometimies one or two hours.
This is a very annoying issue. I'd go directly to retailer, but it makes no sense in such circumstances. Mostly due to lazyness of our service guys here. They don't do any effort to reproduce the problem and won't do the thing if they see vibration working as it should. (I am pretty sure that even if I leave device with "sleeping" vibration it will "wake up" when the service guy boots the device.) I guess I am gonna have to wait until vibration dies for good.
Anyway

can you please post how you solved your vibration issue. Did you get replacement or did vibration start to work again as it used to do before?

Hi
I have just had an issue with the screen turned off and not turning back on forcing me to reboot by holding down the power for 10 seconds. It was after a call and went off as it is meant to as i had the phone to my ear. When i had finished i went to end the call and no display. The phone was still functioning as the notification led was flashing when i double tapped.
Just wondered if anyone else has experienced similar?
Cheers
I had that exact problem with this phone when i first got it... it kinda went away after a while it seemed.. i haven't had that issue sense..
Try factory reset

I think it's a core android problem, because I had it on my Note 2.
Thanks guys
I did a hard reset last night and havent been able to make it happen again after numerous calls today at work. I think perhaps it was a one off bug.
That was one of the first things i did..

Hey guys,
So I was on PowerUser 2.0. For months I was fine but it started going nuts yesterday when I woke up. I somehow managed to get it back to stock JellyBean but there are still the same issues.
What is happening:
I can get the phone to start. Sometimes it goes through the LG screen multiple times, though. It usually freezes up 2-5 minutes after startup and just restarts. If the screen turns off it's even more likely to be frozen. This is more like the black screen of death -- can't get it to turn back on but the phone is still "on."
Then I have to hard reset it and go from there and rinse repeat.
Is this the hardware failing? Any ideas for what to do?
Adding on to this. The led is blinking in a weird pattern when the screen is off(not when it fails to wake up but just in general). I'm able to use it for hours at a time now but I think it may have something to do with heavy use or it heating up. Just seems weird that it is still functional and everything seems fine it just seems like I can't get the display to come back on. I'm relatively sure the phone is fine behind scenes but then again a lot of the freeze ups come with the phone on and the whole screen just won't react then it restarts on its own

No ideas?
So I can get it to work generally if I just keep using it. If it heats up it seems to restart a lot. If it does start restarting I generally have to hold the power until it is fully off to restart it or it just loops the LG logo.
There's times when it goes hours between restarts, and then times it does it every ten minutes. I really think over heating has something to do with it, but I have no idea for sure.
I can't seem to find anything like it online
So I'm using a loaner phone and am letting the battery run out on the g2. It hasn't shut down once when I'm not using it. So like 3 days of uptime.
Does that help anyone with maybe pining down what's up?
