Hi guys. I have two quick questions:
1: Is there any way to boot into recovery using buttons with TWRP 2.6.3.1? The method I've seen on here that works with 2.6.3.2 just causes my phone to factory reset and then restart without letting me do anything.
2.Is there any way for me to flash my G2 back to stock without an IMEI?
Here are more details if they'll make my problem clearer:
After flashing a new ROM, I edited the build.prop to get rid of the software keys. I must have made a mistake, as when I tried to restart the phone the screen stayed black and the LED alternated between blue and green until I shut the phone off. I edited the build.prop almost immediately after flashing, so USB debugging wasn't turned on (stupid I know). My computer recognizes my phone is connected (I can see it on device manager) but when I use adb devices it says nothing is connected. So I can't use ADB to reboot into recovery. I'm using TWRP 2.6.3.1 (not the latest one), and as far as I can tell when I try to use key combinations to get into recovery it just causes my phone to go into TWRP, immediately perform a factory reset, and then immediately restart without allowing me to do anything else in recovery. I tried to flash stock firmware using the kdz method and it hangs at 4% or 10%. I tried using the VZW specific method and everything goes fine until it starts to flash, at which point I get this message:
Download FAIL!! (0 sec)
PID: NULL
IMEI: NULL
Model :
DLL : VS980
BIN: VS98010B_13.TOT
SWV :
SWOV :
Model Information Check FAIL!
Please let me know if you think you have an idea for something I could do to save my phone. Thanks!

I too am missing my imei number and can't restore my device. I fear I may have bricked after only owning it for 2 weeks

I'll try to be as quick as possible.
I have spent around 15 hours trying to fix this, this is the problem:
-There's no IMEI (I did a backup, but I lost it because it was in my phone internal memory and the flash tools wipe everything)
-There's no Baseband
-I'm not sure if it is due to that, but my phone keeps rebooting itself with a toast message on the bottom of the screen "Error"
This happened after flashing Mahdi rom. Everything was fine except the autorotation, right after that I stupidly restore the EFS backup that FreeGee Free created in case anything wrong happened. I am not sure if this caused all this mess, but after that all this nightmare started.
Madhi rom would not boot up again, so I flash my stock rom backup and oh surprise! The phone was screwed up.
I have flash stock firmware many times, following some tutorials. They work well, usb drivers are good, everything is good, but the phone remains with the same issue, keeps rebooting, without IMEI and basebands.
I bought this phone yesterday, I had been waiting for it for a long time . If any of you guys can give me some ideas I would really appreciate it.
Possible fixes
hi,
not sure if you still have the problem since this post is quite old.
You can try restoring the software to original.
1. put your phone in download mode (turn it off, while off plub in the usb cable to the phone and pc, then press volume up button untill the screen shows download mode)
2. start the LG recovery software and add the original phone image
3. details are in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
This should fix all your issues.
Good luck!
Hello,
I have bricked my LG G2 (D802) and installed the stock image with the LG flash tool. Now, I don't have a recovery anymore (I press volume down and power on boot but it doesn't open a recovery, just tells me in the left corner that I'm in security mode).
Also, the biggest problem here is, that if I boot my LG G2, I can't use it. There is all the time a message popping up that com.android.phone was shut down, I can't do anything.
I want to wipe the phone completely but don't have a clue how. My computer doesn't recognize the booted phone, it's just working in download mode. But I can't install the recovery from download mode.
Could someone please help me?
Flashing kdz makes you loose that. Only way to get it back is by following the procedures mentioned everywhere.
Also note, its likely on your version different combo key opens recovery. Forgot what it was but its been mentioned plenty of times.
Use that combo, do a factory reset and it should be fine
i recently tried to edit my build.prop file on my LG G2 (LS980). i changed
Code:
ro.build.product=G2
to
Code:
ro.build.product=g2
(using root explorer, and mounted r/w) because i read that they should be lower case, and since my phone wouldn't update i decided to see if it would work. rebooted and got the error. the error is so bad that i cant even use my phone. the front touch buttons are missing and i cant tap anything except for the power off/reeboot/enter airplane mode. Also, 9 times out of 10 when i power off, the sprint spark logo appears then screen goes black, then reappears and turns the phone back on. furthermore, when i plug it in to my pc i cannot change it from MTP mode, and im not sure if i still have usb debugging checked. the lg mobile support tool wont recognize that a device is connected even with the latest drivers. ALSO, i cannot enter stock recovery! last night when i first got the error i entered it once, but i decided to look for other options as to how to fix the error rather than wiping. but now I WISH i wiped my phone then, because no matter what i do now, the phone wont go into recovery mode. i don't have TWRP or CWM, and i am rooted. I'm a noob and i don't know what to do at this point, can anyone help me?
i have tred looking for some sort of software that can let me access the phones settings directly through usb, but no luck. i dont even know if such a thing exists.
can you battle your way to settings/apps? hit options, reset defaults
otherwise you may have to boot into download mode and flash complete tot/kdz

Same happened to meee!!!
What can i do??
Hi,
I have a LG G2 D800 (ATT Black version) which I was running with cm 11 for a long time.. Last week I got curious and tried to install CM12 on it and that's where started my nightmare.
To begin with, I think I flashed the wrong twrp version (d802) instead of d800.. So I was stuck for a while.. I finally was able to recover from that and Installed CM12. The install went ok, but the phone would freeze and turn off.. It wouldn't turn back on unless I did a soft reset.. I tried a few times and then gave up.. With the nandroid backup that I had, I went back to cm11, but the problem started to follow me in CM11 as well.. The phone was constantly rebooting.. Sometimes the phone would stay on for 2-3 hours and sometimes it wouldn't stay on for 2 minutes.. So I got frustrated and went thru' different threads and finally went back to Stock Rom using the LGFlashtool method.. In stock rom, the phone booted up fine, but the rebooting issue started happening there as well.. The phone was definitely much stable under stock rom than CM11/CM12 but it won't still power off all of a sudden and I could go a couple of hours before noticing that it had turned off.. Frustrated with it, I started all over again to root and install twrp and that's when it went from Bad to worse.. Something happened with my TWRP flash and I was not able to go to recovery or download... I was stuck...
I tried several methods. 1 ) Using ubuntu was my first try.. I followed the initial steps (ls devices and gdisk -l command) and after I ran the first step (dd if=/home/med/Desktop/sbl1.img of=/dev/sdb2), my phone went into fastboot mode and ubuntu couldn't recognize my device. after that.. I couldn't run the remaining commands..
2) since I was stuck in fastboot, I followed the fastboot method from another thread by downloading the fastboot and laf.img.... The phone was responding and said recovery erased successfully, but it kept going back to fastboot.. When I tried a different laf.img file, that's when the phone rebooted and now wouldn't turn on at all..
No LG image, no recovery, no response.. I've tried all button combinations (holding vol down and power, power alone, all 3 buttons, vol+ and power)... nothing happens with the phone... Windows doesn't recognize the phone.. It says 'lg g2 qhsusb_bulk' but that's pretty much it..
Atleast until today morning I had a LG image flashing that tells me that the issue is a software / partition issue.. Now I don't know if I have fried something..
I bought the fone in november 2013 and hence its out of warranty.. . I'm not eligible for upgrade till November and I'm stuck with using a iphone 4s (ouch...) until then... It sucks big time to go from the g2 to the 4s... any thoughts or ideas?
I had the same problem when I flashed the wrong kernel.... This link helped me http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142 one of these 7 solutions should help you....
I found this link on YouTube which is exactly like your case

Thanks. I looked into that thread before. Unfortunately in my case the phone is not recognized in adb or fastboot. Adb shows no device listed whereas fastboot says waiting for device.
Lg flashtool doesnt do anything either.
Only thing is that fone was showing up as unknown device and by me pressing vol up and power and vol down, it shows up as qhusb bulk..

Go to the Device Manager => device properties of the "unknown device" => Details => Hardware ID and search the value on the internet for a driver... Maybe with a driver you can get the phone to be recognized
Folks,
I finally was able to get my G2 working from a hard brick..
My final non working symptom : Blank Screen.. No download.. No recovery.. No LG logo… Windows was showing device as unknown device sometimes and sometimes as qhusb_bulk.
Steps that I followed: You need to know how to use fastboot.
1) Kept trying different combinations of the 3 buttons (power, vol + and Vol -). The one that worked for me was to unplug the phone from pc… Press all 3 buttons together for 15-20 seconds and will keys pressed, plug into the PC.
2) This put me in the fastboot mode.. Here I tried flash laf.img with several laf files. My phone was a lg g2 d800 (ATT variant). Nothing really worked..
3) So I downloaded the Stock Rom files (aboot, boot, dbi, laf, misc, modem, persist, recovery, rpm, sbl1, and tz images) from http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime/LG/LG_G2). I flashed all these files using Fastboot and then after flashing, rebooted the phone.
4) The phone automatically went into AT&T update and at 3% failed with an error and booted into safe mode. (This is probably because when it got bricked, I accepted a OTA update on a rooted phone and I didn’t have twrp recovery either).
5) I came out of safe mode and booted normally and voila, I got the stock rom 4.2.2 on my phone.
Thanks so much to the various threads in XDA developers that I was able to fix this.. Much thanks to etm34 for this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2681089

Happy to see you solved.
All,
Even though I resolved my bricked G2, it is still giving me issues by turning off automically after a while... It looks like a hardware failure to me where it ceases to operate at times.. The phone has stayed on sometimes for an entire day and sometimes it goes off in 5 minutes.. I'm sending it to LG repair service.. Hopefully they fix it for me under warranty (even though it has been 13 months since i bought it)..
Hi people, I was trying to add lte band to my g530h xxu with Xenon hd rom (it didn't work at the end). First, I used efs tools to access to the modem connection. I used afterwards QPST and QXDM (QXDM didn't work xD) so after I had given up trying to add the new bands. I decided to undone everything restoring a back up I have done before starting. when I started I noticed that while restoring some parts (boot partition) didn't complete with the Mb that where supposed to be restored, but the phone kept working. I wasn't receiving signal after that so I used odin to install this firmware G530HXXU2AOC2_G530HODD2AOA1_G530HDDU2AOA1_HOME.tar everything seemed ok until I flashed the recovery twrp-3.1.1-0-fortuna3g.img.tar. I started receiving "could do not do normal boot" and it showed the download mode, but it wasn't recognized by odin xDDD, with the normal key combo it still works. I tried flashing the lollipop version TWRP_2.8.7.0_Lollipop, I think the other one was not for that firmware xD. Now it is showing a grey screen (it is turned on) and if I press the home button it brightens a little but that's all.
I rooted it using king root, and then I flashed the recovery using the TWRP app, maybe it could work, but it didn't as well xD.
I'd really appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction maybe I'm missing something or there is a magic file that I can push through odin to solve the problem. I really miss my customized cellphone, I had an xperia z2 but it got broken so im starting to optimize this one. its my hobby. anyway I messed it up somewhere and I dont know what to do to recover it(the recovery).
Summary
-tried restore from back up
-flashing firmware through odin
-using TWRP app
What I've been receiving
-black screen (turned on)
-message "could not do normal boot" with download mode interface
the phone still boots into android normally, with signal and everything
any idea is welcome
nevermind xD
