No way for now until chainfire updates triangleaway app in playstore...wouldn't worry about it..

You can install the Triangle Away app to reset the binary counter.
If you would like to get the device status to Official, purchase SuperSU Pro and use Triangle Away to set that.

When a device is rooted, firmware is modified (customised) so the update is not available as Samsung considers it as another firmware.
If you want to get OTA updates back, you must unroot first. Flashing again the stock firmware without rooting it will allow you to have OTA again.
You can also use TriangleAway in order to reset your flash counter for warranty purposes.

No, after returning to official status, you can use whatever you want to update (KIES, OTA and Odin).
May I suggest you to use the pre-rooted roms made for i9505. They are identical to stock roms, are already rooted and keep the official status.

Triangle away is just for reset flash counter. If you're now on official status and the Samsung's OTA is available, there is no need to keep it.
Anyway, in order to work, TriangleAway (TA) needs root. So if you're unrooted, you cannot use it.
For the other roms like cyanogenmod, there is no need of TA. Their updater will update the rom regardless of flash counter or status, as it cannot be official anayway !

one last thing
triangle away didnt do it. i had to download OFFICIAL STATUS MOD(.tar.md5 and do it through odin.
now it really worked but triangle away isnt working anymore and SU says when opening: there is no SU binary installed and SuperSU couldnt install it. this is a problem.
is this really a problem?

I didn't understand you...but if you're speakin about sending the phone to Samsung, I think flashing it before to stock ROM and to unroot it would be a nice thing !

today my phone gave the notification of a new update. it can download it but when trying to install it it gives an error that it cant install it ota and i have to use kies?
i better didnt root because it is a phone of my employer
As you received your OTA file, everything is back to normal. However, sometimes OTA may not work correctly. You should then update with KIES or use Odin to flash the correct version.

[Q] AT&T Galaxy s4 (SGH - I337) Unable to get 4.3 OTA

Hi, possibly a noob question, but I have searched and searched all forums but I am unable to get a complete answer.
I have my AT&T Galaxy S4 (SGH-I337) simply rooted, no custom ROMs or anything. I don't recall the method I used for rooting. Root checker confirms device is rooted. It's on Android 4.2.2. It initially showed the custom unlock icon during bootup and device status was "custom". I followed the directions from a forum and installed SuperSU which updated the SuperSU binary and now the unlock icon is gone. Device status shows "official". I was unsure of my binary flash counter since it did not show in the download mode. I purchased and installed Triangle Away, and it shows binary flash counter is 0, binary is official, system is official, so I did not run the "Reset Flash Counter". Download Mode also shows custom binary download: none current binary: Samsung official.
So now my question is can I get an OTA update in this state? I have checked for updates and there are none. Do I need to unroot to get an OTA? My wife's Galaxy s3 was also rooted, yet it got an OTA update to android 4.3 just last week while rooted. If I need to unroot my S4, what is the safest way, given the status of my device?
Thanks for your help!
I suggest you to not to get the ota. I got the ota and the result was less than impressed. If u want touchwiz 4.3 just download it and flash it. If u update to 4.3 via kies or ota it will install a knox bootloader which will not allow u to downgrade os anymore as well as void ur warranty because it keeps track of custom settings.
Triangle away will no longer be useful as it is a seperate counter beside the knox.

What anomy13 said only applies if you have the MDL firmware. Check your baseband/build number and reply with it. If it's MDL, then you can have a custom recovery and flash the StockUp ROM to update without losing the bootloaders, but if you're on MF3 then you're just as out of luck as on MK2 as the knox counter can be avoided easily and is not the same as the custom system checker.

Thanks anomy13 and DeadlySin9.
Mine has a baseband version I337UCUAMDL, so I guess its the MDL firmware.
Build Number: JDQ39.I337UCUAMDL
Do you have links to instructions/files to get my phone updated to the latest android version?
Can I go from 4.2.2 straight to 4.4.2, now that it is out, or do I need to update to 4.3 first?
please point me to the right direction if you can. there is so much info out there, I don't know which set of instruction is the right one for me.
Appreciate your help!
If it were me, I'd put on a custom recovery and run a 4.4 custom rom and keep your mdl and the ability to do that. Follow this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42320391
If you upgrade your firmware there is an involved process to run a rooted rom but it's not the easiest thing to do. So it's up to you on what you want to do

download latest firmware from here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/checker/ according to your device and reign and then install oden from here http://odindownload.com/ and after that follow that guide http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...ide-samsung-how-flash-stock-rom-via-odin.html

Are you sure flashing official firmware resets the binary counter? Because on my Note 10.1, I had to use TriangleAway to reset it.
And to the OP, DON'T USE TRIANGLE AWAY YET! You will brick your device. It does not support our device yet.

[Q] Ota update from 4.3 to 4.4

Hello all,
I found out that i CAN get ota update even when rooted by hiding status with WANAM XPOSED.
Is there any risk or downside in OTA updating my galaxy 3 4.3 instead of full flashing using ODIN?
Respect!

1. The "hiding status" is for that. It change the CUSTOM STATUS (the STATUS change when you root ur device) to OFFICIAL STATUS. You receive the OTA updates for that.
2. You can try to update via OTA if your KNOX: 0x1. Use ODIN without risk if your KNOX:0x0 for avoid problems.

[Q] Triangle away on N9005 & Lollipop 5.0

Has anyone successfully used Triangle Away on their phone with a Lollipop ROM? Thanks
Yes, with a TW Lollipop rom.
Cheers. I was hoping to reset the system status to Official using Triangle Away but the app says "system executable needed to implement workaround not found" - do you have the same with your TW Lollipop rom?
No it just worked. You have to make sure you having a samsung kernel. And you need root.
I have a stock, rooted ROM with stock kernel. The app reset the flash counter ok but the system status still says custom. Is there a way to get it back to official without needing xposed?
