Did you ever get any solution figured out? I've got the same problem going on with the Verizon version.
Hi Guys, had this very same issue. I am not sure my symptoms match your's, but here's mine. Basically air command, double tapping on the screen does not fire up the Action Memo app, which is supposed to in a normally functioning device.
First of all make sure you don't delete/free ALL your action memo instances in Titanium Backup. There's quite a few, so make sure they are not frozen.
Second, check to see if you have the xposed framework installed. If it is installed, un-install it and reboot. See if action memo works via Air command.
If Action Memo works after that, you can reinstall xposed framework. This is how I got mine working again. Hope it helps

Man I wish I could be giving you a positive confirmation that it works... But it doesn't. I uninstalled xposed & all modules, confirmed all 3 action memo files aren't frozen or disabled and rebooted several times. Still no action memo in any form (air command, lock screen or app). I'm so frustrated over this one stupid thing it's ridiculous.
Only thing left for me to try is to move my titanium backup off device and go to stock and back.

Samsung replaced Action Memo with S Note. Old memos are stored as jpg in a device folder, actionmemo. They can be viewed and deleted but not modified.

Yes, I had to go to stock - it turned out that I had deleted (not frozen) one of the associated apps with Action memo. When I went back to stock it worked right away.

I'd suggest going back to a stock base and not touching any apps surrounding action memo - and unless you're positive it's not associated with action menu, leave it. Then try freezing the ones you're questionable about one by one and see which can be safely removed and still let action memo still function. Best suggestion there amigo! :good:

Appears that the update caused the Favorite Contact Widget to disappear although the app is still listed in Application Manager. How do we get it back??
It seems like that many people have the same issue. You can download the apk file and install it - then you will have them back listed in the Widgets list.
Tested and worked for me on my I9505

Is this from the I9505?
Update:
This is to say I have tried this out, running Apex launcher, and it does not look good at all on the homescreen.
Thanks for pointing this out anyway.

Hello there !
After rooting my recently acquired Note 3 with the "Root de la Vega", I immediatetly start using Titanium Backup to freeze system apps I wanted gone.
Unfortunately, I did not freeze My Magazine, I removed it, permanently via Titanium.
I am not regretting it, because as soon as I trigger now-missing-My Magazine-app via double home (or tripple, or more) or with the usual swipe, TouchWiz Home Launcher freezes and then crashes.
This is a rather troublesome situation because oddly enough, I happen to unintentionnaly trigger My Magazine now and then so this was the reason I wanted that feature gone (I just hate it)... and well, no it's pissing me off lol
So anyway, I tried re-install it via this guide :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2446489
And well, although I pushed all this 3 apps with this guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20715762 (with Root Explorer) it still does not work.
Does anyone have a solution ?
Thanks !

Factory reset won't bring back his My Magazine as he has already removed it. But perhaps, after putting back the apks, factory reset might bring it back.
Well, now when I go to TiBk I can see two related APK :
- My Magazine
- My Magazine Home & Here
Now I can access this app with the swipe but not with the home button : it causes TouchWiz to crash. The launcher that is The solution would be to use an alternate home launcher, but for now, I don't want to.
Still, I can launch this app with the swipe. Can someone tell me what should the home button down when hit multiple time ?
Aside from that, there is something quite interesting : Samsung stock E-Mail app is crashing when reading an email from notification.
And guess what, if I unfreeze My Magazine, the email app doesn't crash !
Just WTF ? How are these related ?
I was told God works in mysterious ways. I guess Samsung is working in even more mysterious ways than God lol
Any ideas ?

Email app crashing bought me here as well. I am in the same exact boat here. I hate how SamDUNG forces us to use this my magazine junk. I don't like having to flash a stock rom either. I guess we either live with the crashing or install a 3rd party email app....
Try to wipe data for Samsung Launcher.... and reboot....
Action memo will not open a new note no matter the route I take. Via Air Command nothing happens when I select action memo and when I open the action memo app from the app drawer clicking "create" does nothing.
I am rooted and have xposed framework installed. I have a couple modules but have disabled them all and rebooted - still nothing. I have cleared app data on all 3 instances of "Action Memo" and tried freezing & defrosting them in all combinations to see if one was causing a problem but nothing changed.
At this point I've given up and am about to defrost all my frozen bloatware and see if that changes anything. I am doubtful as I've inspected each thing and nothing seems to have any connection.
My doubts were confirmed - no frozen / disabled apps left and still no action memo. Tried wiping cache in recovery before and after defrosting all frozen apps. I am at a loss.
Anybody have a clue what is causing this?
***SOLUTION FOUND***
It turns out there should be 4 instances of the app called "Action Memo" when looking at a list of apps, like the list in Titanium Backup. I must have deleted one because when I was having trouble I only had 3. By going to stock and re-rooting my device was wiped and the stock apps were returned. I have all four instances back and everything is working properly. What a boneheaded mistake of mine it was to delete one of them...I really don't remember doing that at any point but I guess I must have. Oops

Final bump I will subject you all to. If no one has any suggestions I will just have to flash stock, re root & hope for the best. I'm sure that will fix it but trying to avoid it I guess.

I'm not exactly sure where I read it but it was definitely in the Verizon Note 3 Q&A section somewhere. Someone else had this issue and it turned out being a specific something that they had froze. I can't remember exactly what it was but if u look hard enough through the thread u should find it. Sorry I can't help more.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've defrosted all apps as my op description says. I realize there is no logical solution, obviously I've got a pretty unique error here. I'm fairly confident reflashing is my only recourse, but I appreciate your time in responding.

Hey guys, my phone has installed the kit Kat update and after that I cannot use Action Memo anymore . When I try to create a note it simply stops and close.
I tried cleaning the cache of the 4 apps named Action Memo but it didn't solve the problem. Anyone got the solution? I attached two messages.

I had a problem similar to this one, Mine was with the one that can be used with S-view cover. I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it and it works.
So i think in your case, perhaps you could uninstall the app and try reinstalling it.
As far as I know the Actions Memo is a system app. So I cannot uninstall it.

Ah, if you root your phone you'll be able to uninstall it.
Well, I would not root only to try it. Specially because of the knox trigger...
Had that issue also... Could only "fix" with factory reset.
Greetings XDA Members,
I've searched for quite some time, with limited success on keeping a stock rom along with Google Dialer. The best of both worlds if you will, that would allow great features without the loss of another. It was always a debate between using a AOSP rom at the loss of the camera, or sticking to stock and working with xposed to change settings to an agreeable state. With endless google searches, forums read, and opinions given by others; they all seemed to end with "Not Possible". Well, with some trial and error I have found a workable solution that will allow the Google Dialer to replace the stock dialer, and also allow for "In-callui" to replace the stock one.
It also needs to be mentioned, that I cannot guarantee this will work with your variant, custom rom, or other items not factored into the equation. Though this has worked for me without fail on the ATT Model D850 on Cloudy 2.5 but there are a few details to note. The "In-callUI" will show for both Incoming & Outgoing calls, but you will first see your stock one come up for a brief second or so and switch over. For me, this isn't an issue as I don't immediately answer or hang up when a call completes. Some of the items recommended in the prerequisite are optional and provide other ways to find/adjust permissions, or freeze/delete applications (Stock dialer). I'm not personally an avid developer, but if you have any questions I've been able to gain a great deal of knowledge over the years with hands on experience with the Android operating system. Feel free to ask any questions that may come up, and I'll be happy to assist if possible.
Pre-requisites;
LG G3 - Rooted
Custom Recovery with knowledge on Flashing ZIP files.
Root Explorer / File Manager
Nova Launcher / App to launch an activity.
Titanium Backup (recommended to backup Dialer and other applications in case of damage)
Included in the attachments is the file GoogleStockDialerAndMms. This file is a flashable zip that will automatically adjust the permissions necessary to make calls. It's highly recommended that you make a backup of your current rom with TWRP/CWM in case any issues arise. As this adds two files to your system directory, there is always a chance that an error can occur.
If you choose the route of Nova, you can create a shortcut to an activity. Below I've included a screenshot of which activity needs to be chosen in order to use Google Dialer.
Within Nova Launcher, long-press on the home screen.
Choose "Shortcuts"
Select "Activities"
Find "Google Dialer" in the list, then tap to open it up, and select "Phone" (use the first one in the list)
Can I disable my default dialer?
The short answer is no. As a general rule, you will need to keep your present dialer enabled in order to receive calls. The long answer is that on some phones you might be able to disable your stock dialer, but on others you definitely cannot. Feel free to try it on your own device and let us know what your results are. If you choose to do attempt this, I highly recommend against uninstalling and instead move to FREEZING the phone applications with Titanium Backup or similar root enabled application.

Good job on this even if Im already running an AOSP based ROM, I dont need this.

i flashed the zip and everything seems to be working fine. i am also able to search close by businesses, i typed pizza and it showed me the closest pizza places.
the only FC i am getting is in settings when i tap call settings-voicemail, call waiting. i don't use that so its ok for me. thanks again.
also i did not have to create a shortcut, the app icon was there after restart.

Doesn't work here....either when triggered from a Nova Settings widget or from the icon in the launcher. Instant force close. I can try to grab a log if you think it'll help?
D852, running Dene_Bluesman's rom (basically stock LG 5.0.1)
Edit - wonder if its because the rom version i'm using is odexed? Going to try the deodexed version and report back....
Edit 2 - nope still crashes instantly. Super frustrating! Please let me know if a log will help! @Eruvion
I want to try this on my lg G2, is there any reason you think it might not work? Anything that would make this zip specific to the G3?
+1 on this. would like to see if we can get this to work on Cloudy for G2.
Hi
This thread seem's a bit dead. Anyway i have flashed this file and it works. I am on N&N 1.3 rom. It's a stock mm based rom.
