is there anyway to customize what a longpress does on each of these (capacitative) buttons?
hoping to change them to
Longpress Menu - Recent Apps Menu (cut down the wear on Home Button)
Longpress Back - Quit/Close current app entirely/go to home.
Phone is rooted and Xposed Framework is installed.
Wanam does not seem to support such customisations yet
any ideas? :X
...!!!!
no one has any ideas at all? :/
Good idea, i want that, too!

On my Evo LTE running CM10 the recent apps button on short press opens settings and long press opens recent apps. I like this function vs having to have a shortcut on the desktop or getting to it from notifications. On most newer phones/tablets running ICS/JB there are mods that remap this function but I've not seen this anywhere for the Nexus. I"m running stock but rooted and would prefer to stay that way if i can. Does anyone either know how to do it or if there's a mod floating around that i was unable to find using "search"?
I would also love to customize what app is opened when sliding up from the soft keys, if that's related.

No that's not exactly what i'm talking about but i would like to do that as well. If i understand correctly if you hold any of the software key/button (IE back, home, or recent apps) and slide your finger up there is a dotted circle with google search button at the top. If i could place the settings app there that would get me by. As for now when i hit the recent apps button i would prefer that to be the settings button or being able to long press the button to open settings. I think what i want is a limitation of the launcher but who knows. Anyone who does have any idea how to do this please let me know. I did attempt to edit the keys file in system/usr/keylayout by trying to add an extra key for settings but it didn't work.
im used to having the 3 dot menu key in the action bar of all my apps. anyone know of a way. i tried the 3dot menu mod on xposed and that didn't work.
anyone?
I'm also interested in this.
Gonna get harder and harder, Google is goign away from that and doign the slide out function in alot of it's apps, and system.
right but what i'm trying to do is add the navigation bar and disable the hardware buttons. if i do that there is no way to access menu unless i add that feature. there is a way to do this being that there is a module for it. but it just doesn't work on the n3 i guess.
I find it strange that no one has requested this feature. I find very annoying the menu button even though I've been using phones with it (Samsung) since 2010. Finally samsung has changed it's layout and it's new devices will have the recents instead of the menu button.
Is there a way or mod to replace the menu button with recents, or at least add the recents button?

If you are rooted, install G2 Xposed.
I hear you, man. After using a Nexus 4 for some time, switching to my G2 proved to be quite painless, except for the menu button and the long-press recent apps home button configuration. I don't understand why the keep such setting, forcing us to root in order to change it.
Knowing that KitKat offers no adaptive menu button repositioning, I guess LG should at least give us the option to change the standard layout. If not, root should be the way to go, but I don't like to be forced to do that one bit.

Is anyway that I can replace the menu button with a recent button and get all my apps to do like aosp rooms where when you open an app you get a menu button come on?
And I'm rooted fyi . Everything I've used ie g2xposed and g2 tweakbox to change to have back home recent setup I don't get the little menu button, have to make a long press for menu or 4th button and don't care for either..

Pick enable button combination in tweaksbox and then just change it in settings - display.
I remapped the menu button to access recents and then I enabled the onscreen menu button to still have access to it, but it messed up some the apps dpi. For example the phone call app looks like in the image attached. How can I fix this?

Come on guys I need help this.
You could've seen that one coming...
The menu button is separate task bar. Disable it and it should go back to normal.
I dknt know if the re-map does this too or if there's an option, but in the new Samsung devices, long pressing 'recent apps' opens the menu. (just like long-pressing Home opens Recent apps by default on stock...)
