Look at the screenshots, as you can see the battery usage indicates my phone hasn't been awake...
That's impossible because I've been playing various games, browsing the Internet and watching YouTube videos for a few hours...
Why would it indicate that there is no "awake usage"?
EXTRA: I've tried rebooting several times and went through many charge cycles and the issue still occurs!
Help please!
If I remember correctly, that awake bar was changed recently to only show awake time when the screen is not turned on.

Six threads is more than overkill!
Mine does the same thing since the last update, it shows wakelocks in sleep now, not actual awake time.

It sound like you have a faulty battery if it only lasts three hours, I think you would have to be gaming to flatten a good battery in that time.
John.
Mine is the same. If I'm browsing the web, using instagram, Facebook and receiving email my battery will go from full to empt in easily 3 to 4 hours.
Backup, factory reset, reinstall apps from market (try to install only the ones you use a lot at first), restore the data you need. If you're still seeing the same things happening, install a battery logger / system logger. Use this guide to see if there's a rogue app that's causing the trouble: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=937080
If it's still acting up and you cannot identify any unusual drain, I'd ask for a replacement.
After you get things sorted, you can use apps like Juice Defender from the Market to prolong your battery life even more.

thanks guys for the sincere contribution.... i hope your advices help me...
my top battery consuming activities are:
temple run
google play
msging
go launcher
and nothing else
gaming and browsing certainly make the battery drain almost visibly..
things above and beyond the above to try include..
1. reduce screen brightness
2. reduce frequency of or disable background updates by apps
3. no vibrate notifications
4. work more, play less!..lol
the battery life of the Note is great, unless you use it .. a battery monitor will allow you to see the battery drain over time..this will help when you address item #2 above.. if you accept default refresh times, and have lots of social apps your battery can die in 6-7 hrs without even using the Note at all!..
I really love when people give the tip to not use your phone as a battery saving tip

some hints for better battery life
Got mine the other day. First charge battery was fine. Second charge went down 7% in about 5-10 mins. Then it restarted :/ Came back on, down to 88%. Turned the phone off as was frustrating me as it restarted 3 times yesterday. But when I turned it back on I was at 83%?
Hasn't last me the day, it's on charge now. When it pops up telling me to charge it tells me to shut all apps and that using while charging may effect it charging. Is this correct? I didn't think it would have anything to do with it?
3 to the 4 hours continuous use is normal... Only if your phone is standby and then depletes in that time You should be worried. I recommend researching wakelocks in that case.
There are many variables that can atribute to batterylife depletion. Eliminate those first and you will have your answer.
I had best results on stunner version 19. To bad it has the death kernel (leaked ics)

I am facing a similar issue, facing a massive wakelock by PowerManagerService. It keeps the phone awake all the time?
Any suggestions?

Usually that wakelock is there cause you are charging, or have USB plugged in

Had the note for 2 days. It came with LA4 FW and updated via Samsung Apps for the latest FW.
Battery drain, that was none on LA4 became very strong!
Installed Better Battery Stats and discovered that the CPU was always running.
Factory reset solved it...

I have only used my Galaxy Note tablet a few days, and I am probably using it approximately 5-6 hours tops. It is needing recharged every day! It takes hours to charge and then I only get 5-6 hours usage? Is this normal?
I would appreciate any response.
Thanks.
Galaxy Note 10.
Doesn't really sound normal to me. What is that 5-6hours screen on time? And is like gaming and watching videos or what?
One can kill it in 3 hours depending on use. The time says nothing unless you say what you do, what brightnes you use it at etc., etc. There are so many variables.
i usually get 10-11 hours of screen usage with brightness below 50% (watching youtube, streaming videos over web and an hour of sketching/fb/email) still the battery lasts for more than 24 hours
and it usually takes 4 1/2 hours to 5 1/2 hours to charge
and mine is wifi only n8010
Please don't open multiple threads. This belongs in Q&A, so we'll leave that one open.
Post a screen shot of your battery usage showing which apps are consuming the most battery. Sounds like an app is keeping the tablet awake or constantly running.
My battery is fine

Hi All,
Just throwing this one out there but has anybody noticed the battery on their new S5 is not as great as the reviews all believe?
I got mine on Thursday morning in Switzerland. It's the European model - and I brought it home to the UK.
Charged it up fully, then let it discharge which took about 15 hours (though eight of those were in bed). Then yesterday, I charged it from 2% up to 100% at about 1pm. It was down to 20% by 10pm. Obviously, I'm using it a fair bit but no more than the other reviewers seem to imply.
I have it linked to my Gear 2 Neo and wonder if that's the cause. But I can't see how it would be as GSAM reckons Bluetooth is low usage and also my friend is using his connected to the Gear 2 and tells me yesterday, he had 90 mins of Netflix, Facebook and general playing before he got down to 90%. GSAM tells me that the kernel is the biggest user.
I vaguely seem to remember the S3 having a similar battery drain at first and not being sure what it was and it settled down eventually - but I'd be interested to hear your thoughts and experiences. By the way, I have Power Saving ON here too!
As a guide, it is now down to 93% after about an hour off charge with the screen having barely been on.

It's kind of common sense to expect degraded battery life due to an always connected device like the Gear.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
I thought that initially but the gear is using low level blue tooth and even GSAM says it is barely responsible

Something might be up with your phone. I have the US AT&T version of the S5 and my Gear 2 Neo is constantly connected and set to sync every 3 hours.
After 3 hours off the charger I'm down to 94% battery. If anything the battery on my Neo is what I'm concerned about. That's at 83% at about 8 hours.
That's what I'm concerned about.. as a routine, I installed a load of my most commonly used apps straight out of the box, but they're not running and not huge battery drainers.

Battery is at 90% right now. saproviders which has the same icon as the gear settings app (so I'm assuming this is the service) has used 4% according to battery stats. Screen time is at 30% for me. My gear has used as much of my battery as being on wifi and cell standby.
It definitely appears to be my kernel that's doing it - but what? And how can I stop? See attached screenshots I just took.. Hope someone can help
After a new install always andoid is doing something intense ( my guess is that is scanning your phone). I installed cpu spy from gplay and I checked regularly for the deep sleep time. If you have zero time in deep sleep you have to turn off your phone and then back on. Check again deep sleep state.
P.S. Real life battery depends mostly on screen on time and the quality of network signal in your area.

Hi Calinormy.
Thanks for the response. So, I just installed cpu spy and it tells me that my phone spent a flips chunk of last night in deep sleep. I am flummoxed as to what this kernel usage is.
My instinct would say the constant connection to the Gear Neo watch but I know people also using that watch who say that it is having no impact on battery life and in the gsam stats, it seems to reflect that.
I wonder if the kernel usage will calm down after a few days.
Boooooo

I have a S5 from AT&T and it is connected to my Gear Fit. My Gear fit is the top battery user at 19% followed by Android System at 16% and Screen at 14%. Everything else is under 10% including Android OS. I would find my battery down 8-10 within 1-2 hours but I would listen to music via Bluetooth in the car ride to work which is 45 minutes. It has been 8hrs and 45minutes since my phone was at 100%. I am now at 58%, so about 5+% an hour drop. Now my usage is email, web browsing, light facebook, LinkedIn. No heavy video and have Wifi turned off but bluetooth is on for the Gear Fit.
Also, it took two hours of charge time to go from 10% to 37% charge last night which seems rather slow. I was plugged into a USB 3.0 slot on my PC. My iPhone 5 would have been at or close to 100%.Hoepfully it gets faster over time.

How often it syncs pedometer and weather data automatically. The default is to sync every 24 hours.
Gear S and Galaxy 5S battery drain
I forgot and left the GPS on (gear S). My Galaxy S5's battery started draining at an unbelievable rate. Turned of the watches GPS and all was fine. Seems as though if GPS is on, it's always communicating with S Health even though I don't use it.
I have had my Galaxy S7 since about four days before it was officially released thanks to T-Mobile shipping it early. (I say this because I assume this is enough time for the battery to cycle)
I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced some crazy system battery drain? I have hardly used my phone today other than two phone calls that lasted about 2 minutes each. My Android System has used 42% battery and it's draining at about 5% an hour. I don't even have two hours of screen on time. I close my apps out when I am finished with them so I don't think that is the problem. I also have location turned off. Any ideas? :crying:
My doing the same. Not sure what's the big gap is about.

Mine was getting 7 hours sot for around 20 hrs of usage then all of a sudden the other day it started this crazy battery drain where it went from 100% to 80% in 2 hours with no use age. I didn't install anything new at all. So I did a factory reset and now it's back to the way it was.
I had to have had an app that went rogue as my device also was heating up. The reset was just the quickest and easier way to correct. Besides with no root it's almost impossible to find the culprit

I had a battery drain issue and I traced it to the "My Places" app that the contexual location edge bar uses to determine your location. It was keeping my GPS on and keeping my phone awake. Turned it off and back to 5+ hours screen on time.
Dear all,
My S7 edge would give me a very good battery life at the beginning. For instance, i would charge it to 100%, it would take 15 to 20 mins of continuous usage to become 99%. And further same speed till 0.
But since 2 to 3 months, it is draining very fast no matter how many times i flashed with the latest firmware. 100% to 99% in 3 mins of usage. And further every percent goes down in 2-3 mins.
Is the battery spoilt? Do i need to replace it? Any solution? I did try calibrating from 0 to 100%. No use.
If battery needs to be replaced so, do service centre replace as if it was never opened? Cause i love my phone to look new and when i sell them, no one should make out i replaced it or opened the phone.
Kindly guide. Thank you.
Your trying to tell me your surprised that the battery is draining while your using the phone?
I've been sat here surfing the net, reading tapatalk and replying to messages for the past 40 mins and I've lost 5% but you know I'm using the phone, so it's expected.
If you think it's abnormal (it isn't) check what's running in the background, hardware intensive apps are obviously going to cause the battery to drain faster, put them to sleep in the battery section and get bbs to check for wakelocks and alarms etc...

Thanks for the reply. Could you please tell me how to check and give you a record of the whole to cross check if possible?
The drain is very fast even after flashing and not installing anything on it.
