Hi!
I need a hand with something I'm working on. I need to create an ad hoc connection with my device, at the moment a nexus 7 first generation, encrypted in wpa. I've tryed using the default network manager (i'm using a cynogenmod 10.2) and the result was a fake ad hoc in wpa. Was in fact in wep. I've alredy studied the problem on linux and it was solved with new version of kernel and wpa supplicant. I don't know if on android was alredy solved in newer kernel/os version or is still a problem. Online I've found really low information about :/ maybe you could help me!
Thanks in anticipation
No one have an idea? None of you know if it's phone or tablet can do that or not?

not sure bud, but it seems 3 of his last few builds with the new hastarins kernal are prone to problems with wifi and no workaround to this point. trying darkstones new build now to see if wifi works .

Move to hastarin 7.5 and don't forget to copy bcm4329.ko and tun.ko to system/lib/modules.
His latest builds have been fine for me, you should try posting direct in the rom thread you're using
i also have problem with wifi. applanet,UC working. download gameloft database, opera not working. anyone who can fix it?
hello friends
today i m showing you a 100 percent working wpa_supplicant for galaxy s2 gingerbread rom for ad hoc network. yes it is test by me and also this is modified by me too. no one is responcible and cant take credit for developing it. currently i m using and testing on litening rom 6.1 and it works flawlessly. so no more wait for new wpa supplicant. becoz wait is over now. use it and reply me about ny bugs. i will try to revamp it. bye
download attachment and use it
if u like my work then plz donate me on my paypal account
[email protected]
and plz reply thanks
This is great!!! Tested on my galaxy SGS1 and works perfectly!
Thanks!!!
Edit: i can connect only if i set my ad-hoc network unproteced. If i add wpa2 or even wep security the phone gets stuck on "Obtaining IP address...", but it could be my ubuntu notebook.
Awsome sauce!!! Been waiting for this. Downloading and testing it now on my SG1.
Thanks
edit: just realised it is not a CWM flashable zip. Where do I put this?
edit2: figured out where to put it so dont worry. Cannot obtain IP address though on an unsecured ADHOC network.
what is this ?
It alows your phone to use your laptop/desktops internet connection. Create an ad-hoc wireless network on your laptop/desktop and then search for that network on your phone connect and voila your phone should now use the interent through your laptop/desktop.
I like it cos it means I can use my internet connection at work instead of 3g.
SGS2 on lite'ning v4.2 (2.3.4)
Open: 'obtaining IP' loop
WEP: 'obtaining IP' loop
WPA: [no connection]
it is not cwm file. first u have to unzip it then copy and paste this on system/bin folder on ur rooted gs1 and gs2.but this will work perfectly on gingerbread 2.3.4
hi haymzee
you should use litening rom ver 6.1 not 4.2 otherwise it will not work correctly.so first update ur rom in 6.1 and then use this wpa file ok
OH YES! will test and report; long awaited!
I can connect in the morning but after turn airplane mode on-off, then I can't connect till now.
It shows obtaining IP address, even I try to re-boot both phone. T_T
Hello everyone,
I finally managed to solve the problem of connections
thanks
hi to everybody,

Hello, how did you manage to solve the looping 'Obtaining IP address.." problem ?
Also got the same problem of Obtaining IP address. I tried many configurations of changing the ip address manually with static ip address settings
Its working perfectly on our rom.
10 char will b built in in the next release
For all noobs:
Use root explorer
Unzip and put the file in system/bin
Reboot
Done.
Now test
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I use LogMeIn.apk
any solution for GB 2.3.5 ???
I've tried ad hoc on 4 different laptops and it only worked on the newer ones
I can confirm this works 100%. I tethered the internet connection on my Macbook Air with the phone using AdHoc Wifi successfully.
Hi guys...am only geting wifi at home...not workin at my brothers house. it keeps conecting and disconnecting and authenticating..however when i boot the phone from windows the wifi works ok at his house!...i was using tytung v 2.8 gingerbread... i have made a fresh instal using tytung v 3.0 gingerbread but the problem is stil there.....using a htc hd2 running andrtoid from sd card.........please could somebody shed sum light!!!...
control wifi security type of router. wpa is better for android. you may have problems with wep security
...after the phone has scanned for wifi it brings up WPA/WPA2 PSK alongside the network name...after keying in the security password it just wont connect.......keeps connecting and disconnecting......seem to be having the same problem at me mates house aswell!!

Try a trila and error - disable security on the router completely for a few minutes and see if it stays connected. If it does stay connected without security, download the latest tytung kernel package from his thread, extract the wpa_supplicant from /system/bin and push it to the /system/bin in your android. See if that helps.
ok..thanks for your reply... i will try this out...if it does the trick you will have to advice me on the system bin thing!!!!!.........sorry i am new to android romming...might possibly drop you a email....
Hi everyone!
Yes, I am a noob...
Infos:
I already know that every Android device needs a new "wpa_supplicant" file for connecting to Ad-Hoc Networks e.g. created by my Nokia's JoikuSpot or sth. else...
If there's another option, tell me
Also I've heard about this application:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.jrummy.root.browserfree
that supposedly can be installed on an unrooted device!
The question:
For me it doesn't make sense, that you can install an app which has access to all files without rooting the tablet at first.
Can I replace the wpa_supplicant without rooting and be happy with tethering 3G from my phone to the tablet?
AdHoc Networks are my only cause for rooting but it seems to be quite difficult, maybe no one did it already with the slate ... I can't find instructions to do it anyway...
Please HELP

As in beta, you still can't connect to Wi-Fi in official Oxygen OS 10. Network reset did not help
OP 6T has no IP address.
Anyone have any ideas?
..
I had a Bet 10 v.17 phone also had no Wi-Fi connection.
After returning to Android 9, IP appeared again and there were no connection problems.
This is not an issue with Oxygen OS 10. It is a feature of Android 10 called mac randomize. Your mac will be changed randomly when you connect to wifi network. This is for security purpose. If you enabled mac filter in your router then while connecting to your wifi network in your mobile go to advanced options choose Use device mac under the privacy option.
Note: after you upgrade to Android 10 you device mac will be changed. Don't forget to updated your new mac in you router mac filter settings.

I have turned off all filters on the router.
I changed to MAC of device, to randomized MAC. Nothing new.
Still can't connect to Wi-Fi.
This is insane! New system and connection problems?
Instead of getting better, it's getting worse.
Bluetooth issues on my phone
I can't even enable wifi connection
Reflash the official update zip....worked for me
I have exactly the same issue.
After upgrading to Oxygen OS 10.0 on my OnePlus 6, connecting to my router with a password became impossible.
The only option is to connect via a guest connection, without a password (hardly a viable option).
All other devices connect properly.
Setting the MAC address to "device MAC" rather than "random MAC" does not solve the problem.
Resetting the phone's wireless settings does not solve the problem.
Factory resetting the smartphone (the only solution suggested by OnePlus support) has not solved the problem.
Resetting the router (Netgear Nighthawk RAX40) has not solved the problem.
SOLUTION !!!

I FOUND A SOLUTION !!!
The router had previous security: WPA2 (very secure).
Android 9 in OP 6T worked with them, but not Android 10.
I have reduced security to: WPA / WPA2 (secure).
Currently, Android 10 connects to a Wi-Fi network without a problem.
You should write the patch in Android 10.
Does this mean that everyone under Oxygen OS 10 should downgrade their Wi-Fi security in order to connect with it?
Is your OnePlus font italic?
Have you used Magisk Canary?

Haven't yet tried, but it seems to be a solution.. I couldn't understand, WHY it works with all other WiFis and doesn't work with my, but WPA2 looks like answer.
Has somebody reported this bug to OP?

Until yesterday, were I messed up with root/magisk, everything (including WPA2) was working well for me.
Now I can'T turn on WIFI anymore.
WPA/WPA2 helped for me... OP can't connect to only-WPA2 networks after Android 10 update.
Installed via OxygenUpdater, no root, no unlocked bootloader, full stock

many, many thanks!
I can still connect to my existing network, I just had to update my MAC filters.
I really advise against using WPA at all - see if there is firmware update for your router.
Are you using Magisk Canary?
Roll back to Stable and reinstall oos

I had the same issue, flashing a custom kernal (Omega) fixed the problem. Why ? Idk
change private DNS to automatic
changing my DNS from cloudflare to automatic helped me (after also switching to device MAC)

Did you flash the full zip or incremental? From TWRP? Is any wipe necessary after flashing?
