I have attempted to install a different region firmware on to my SM-N9005 phone. now my phone does not boot up and and says "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies.
the problem is, kies doesnt seem to detect my phone. All it says on the left is please connect device. I have installed drivers too.
any help pls?
Try to go to download mode and flash another firmware.

If it's 16gb then it's from Hong Kong
You can't flash firmware from other regions onto the Note 3. Odin will fail at the last gasp.

Use Kies and then select Tools> Firmware upgrade and initialization. It will ask you for the model and serial number then it will download the original ROM.
Only way I could fix this exact issue was by flashing original firmware from samfirmware guess your just gonna have to try loads till you get it.

i think the way out might be to find out what region its from, and flash some rom via ODIN. maybe u can use the serial number to find out or something?
I had screwed up my phone last week and it wouldnt boot. But my case was simpler - i knew exactly what i had done. I simply flashed TWRP recovery via ODIN, used it to mount /system and then undid my change.

also if you take out the battery, you should see the model number
thanks for the replies guys
i think its the hong kong version TGY
still havnt got it working ive tried restoring through kies but i get a error saying fused 2 binary 1

I would recommend going to the Samsung Firmware page and downloading the appropriate firmware for your device:
http://www.samsungis.com/Firmwares/list_1_1.html
After loading this firmware through KIES, you still encounter issues, I would recommend rooting and installing the factory ROM or a compatible one which should resolve the issue.
Hope this helps!

Hi, I bought my Galaxy S4 9505 about a month ago, everything was great, I later decided to flash a custom ROM.
Something went wrong and i soft bricked my device, I was able to flash the stock ROM later and fix it.
however, I recently found out the after flashing the stock ROM, samsung KIES no longer recognizes my device.
I have installed the device's drivers, and KIES have identified it before I flashed it.
In addition, whenever I try to use samsung HUB, the app crashes immideatly giving an error message: "Mandatory Parameter Not Found (1101)"
Searching for the error, only one result came up where someone flashed his ROM using mobile odin, and it got fixed by reflashing with odin for windows.
Unfortunatly, this is not the case, I originally flashed it with windows odin, and even tried to flash it again, but still the same result.
If anyone can help me that would be great.
Thank you

I live in Israel and bought the phone in israel.
I looked in samfirmware (dot) com
and it seems like there isn't really an Israel firmware, it also says the one I have is of Ireland's
I can guarentee that I9505XXUAMDI was the firmware installed before and after the flashing

Aah i see, you probably don`t have the correct software from the country/region where the phone originated from. You have to find the country where the phone was initialy sold. Look here and typein your imei number http://sndeep.info/en.

Contacting the reseller about it will probably lead to voiding my warranty if I explain why I need to know, or refusing to answer if I don't explain why.
I can try to check out the firmware of some other S4 I9505 of people I know in Israel, hoping it will lead to something.
I still find it very hard to believe that even if the reseller told me where the phone was originally sold, it would turn out to be something different than Ireland.
I can guarentee that I9505XXUAMDI was the version I had before flashing, and I don't see how it could be unless it originated there.
OK, luckily, I still had a CWM recovery from before flashing the new firmware, i restored the backup, and now I know my CSC, my KIES work and samsung HUB as well.
However I now have CWM, and I wish to remove it, from what I know, only by flashing the stock firmware I will be able to remove CWM.
If I flash the firmware I thought was the correct one, I will return to the point where KIES isn't working for me again.
with this info:
PDA: I9505XXUAMDI
CSC: I9505TSIAMD8
which firmware should I flash?
Noob question ahead!
I have International Galaxy S4 i9505 and I’m currently on rooted stock rom “i9505vjuemj6″ (zto) brazil android 4.3. I can not update OTA because of “modified device issue” and also can not update via Kies it says “GT-i9505 does not support initialization”.
Can I download “I9505VJUEMKE_I9505DGTEMKE_DGT” venezuela android 4.3 and flash it using odin to fix everything above?
- If not, which latest stock ROM do you recommend to install?
- Any description for this? “GT-i9505 does not support initialization”.
For install updates for android 4.3 u only need Kies 3, no Kies. I recommend u install the updates only with Kies 3 or via OTA. Flashing other firmwares that dont marry with ur region code is create more problems :highfive:

Will do and get back to you as soon as i get another firware on, have also contacted Samsung and the'ry look into it too. but cheers if you can help. i'm just mucking around with other options as well at moment. i understand some forums say you cannot roll back the firmware from 4.4.2 to 4.2. I am having the screen rotation problem with the new 4.4.2 so i'm trying to find a way to roll back the FW and one way might be to install a custom rom with old bootloader that is also knox free via CWM install zip function to replace the new 4.4.2 bootloader with an old one. This may then allow me to roll back the firmware to an older version and kill my screen rotation problems.

Pretty sure once you root your phone you can no longer use OTA or Kies, as you now have custom status.
Having said that I've not used kies once since I bought my S4 on April 27th and I change firmware like crazy.
Just use Odin. 9 times out of 10 any problem you have can be fixed by reflash and factory reset.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using XDA Premium HD app
you can use on any modified phone
If Kies lets you initialise the firmware with model and serial no. to the base version for your region for that phone then it will overwrite anything. However in the I9505 case it will not even let you initialise the firmware. Have called Samsung and they confirm they know this is the case but it is not something they will do anything about.

Screen rotation a real prob, but all my sensors show pass via *#0*# sensor checks. Tried nordic i9505 I9505XXUFNB9_I9505NEEFNB2_I9505XXUFNB9_HOME.tar 4.4.2, then SIngapore I9505XXUFNBE_I9505OLBFNB3_I9505XXUFNBE_HOME.tar 4.4.2 all the fken same problem. Screen rotation all fine when I flash firmware, root, then flash CWM touch - everything good. Screen rotate works until the first reboot after all of this which might even be a day or 2 later. As soon as reboot phone, screen rotation dies and it is a huge pain in the arse. Sensors continue to say pass via *#0*#. Every few days i have to re-flash firmware, re-root, then re-CWM touch, no need to factory reset just those 3 steps.:crying::crying:and is why i'm trying to figure out whatever methods i can to roll back the firmware to an earlier version but no joy....

There's a firmware for United Arab Emirates on SamMobile, why not flash that one? Assuming with UEA you meant United Arab Emirates, but the actual region code (in Kies) is one listed on SamMobile for that country, right?
I have a G900H with THR code, meant for Iran, but there's no firmware available for that device, so I'm not sure if I can flash another country or will automatically end-up with a bricked device?

If you can get Kies to connect, it should give you 3 codes, all starting with G900H. Mine where XXXU1... HOJV1... XXXU1... I then downloaded a firmware with the same initial codes, mostly the HOJV1 seemed to matter. Followed by country code in parenthesis. Might be worth checking if the country code matches your actual country? It seems matching CSC image version (HOJV1 in my case which was available in many countries) is enough to get a successful flash.

Hi guys
I have run into little problem that I'm hoping learned members here can help me with.
I have a Note 3 SM-9005 that was running Kitkat 4.4.2 and I got it updated to 5.0 from a mobile repair guy. Everything looked smooth until I got home and noticed that now the WiFi does not work anymore. It always stays greyed out and never turns on.
I have tried turning on download booster, smartswitch, nothing helps. I have wiped cache, wipe data / factory reset but that's of no help.
Can you please help me get my WiFi working again.
Many thanks.
Cheers

Ok just checked. It looks to be the Phillipines/Singapore/Malaysia/Thailand version. With some of them branded. Not sure which one I should be picking up?
The stock ROM may be slightly different for each country but you can try the latest Singapore version.

Will it trip Knox? As I would be putting a SIN firmware on a XSI (UAE) handset?
Flashing a stock rom will not trip Knox.
Personally, unless there is warranty left on the phone, I wouldn't worry about tripping the Knox counter.

Thanks for your reply.
I have also just noticed that the WiFi hotspot (tethering) doesn't work either.
I downloaded the latest XSI (UAE) firmware and installed it using Odin. But the problem still persists.
Should I try downloading and installing a Singapore firmware?
Is there a possibility that this phone is actually a carrier branded phone and was later debranded and that's why it's having this problem?
Please help life is difficult without Wifi
Does Bluetooth work? It's possible that the phone has a defective wifi chip. I have two galaxy s4 phones that have dead wifi chips but everything else works.
You can try flashinga another country's firmware but not sure if that will help.
Do you have a backup of the efs folder?

Yes the bluetooth works.
The phone's WiFi was working fine before being updated to Lollipop.
No I got it updated from a phone repair guy before I got my hands dirty and put the new firmware my self. So no efs folder backup, unfortunately.
Hmm without knowing what the repair person did to the phone or how the update was performed, it's possible something went wrong during the flash process. Does the phone show the correct imei and MAC address?

He did it in front of me and from memory I can tell that he took a firmware file and used a software (probably Odin) to flash it in download mode.
The phone does show the correct IMEI as written under the battery spot and in device info does show a WiFi mac addresd however I'm unsure how to verify if that may be the correct one.
I have browsed Google and found few other people's posts on different forums who have this exact same problem. Someone suggested that I should reflash the firmware with bootloader checked using Odin.
Do you think it may be of help?
I have just discovered that the serial number on the back of the phone under battery is different from what is reported by the device.
Does this give any hint to what may be the issue?

Make a note of your devices model number and serial number then use Samsung Smart Switch/Emergency software recovery and initialisation.
It should download the latest firmware for your particular device and restore it.
*This process will factory reset your device so backup any data that you want to keep.

You should have done it before with root explorer. Just do the root phone. You should make that copy. If you do not have it now, you have to find another solution.
To recover the imei
