Greetings again ,
After reboot and all my things loaded i have 150-160mb free ram all the time , do you think is ok ?
I think the phone has 384 MB RAM .
Please share your opinion

Agreed!
Dont need to worry about RAM on android smartphones. Android system takes care of how to utilize RAM.
I remember immediately after root, I had 202MB free immediately after startup, but for some reason, now it's around 160...Anyone know how to permanently kill apps from starting up?

I read that, but figured removing apps that autostart would save battery. Or is the power consumed negligible, and I shouldn't worry about it?

The apps are in idle state.
Well, most of them anyway so they won't use cpu which means battery is not used either.
Only services are running.

For some reason, my phone got only around 30MB of free RAM after using it for 5-10 mins since startup. I dont use any task manager, and the only program that I use to stop startup apps is Startup Auditor and I only disable Moxier Mail at startup. My phone is not rooted. Is it normal? Cuz comparing my free RAM to you guys, I just feel a HUGE difference here

Hey guys if I check in he settings it shows that I have around 230 mb ram free but if I check using a taskkiller or any third party app it tells me that I have only 80-90 mb ram free when the settings menu is showing 230 mb free
Could this mean that we have less ram available and se is just making a joke of it?

I believe the pgone stores cache from apps in ram to, but it can easily be overwriten by apps that reallt need the extra ram. So it's free for any app to take but not all of the free ram is unused. I believe this cache is for apps that use multitasking just to start up quickly. It's not a problem if they lose their place in the ram for a game as they'll just have to restart without (significant) loss of data.
If you check the free ram in the running services list, you can click on the free ram indicator in the bottom to see what's loaded in it.

Once ur device is Rooted, install system tuner pro, and disable some of the apps u have installed from play store, disable them from boot up, and use Ram booster pro when ever Ram get Full...

More free RAM helps me with all my multitasking, I personally use my S3 like a computer, so I would need lots of free RAM
PS. I have over 150 apps from the market installed, before this tweak I only had like 100mb of RAM free now I got like 380mb

Google "how RAM management works in android"
If u do alot multitasking u should not have much free ram becuz all the apps running in backround. If u close backround apps to free some ram that means u just kill the ongoing multitasking ur phone is doing and next time u go back to ur previous app it has to be started again so it actually slowsdown ur phone when ur system actually needs more ram it kills the apps by it self... so no need for that much free ram :/

But before, I used a Turbo downloader and every time I left the app and came back the download had failed, nw none of the apps are doing this any more...
This is just my way of being more efficient... If it doesn't work 4 u then that's fine, but it is awesome 4 me

Android doesn't work like your computer (with Windows I presume) it's the opposite
You "would need lots of free RAM", it's for you not that the system needs
You have 150 apps with 100 mb of free RAM and now 380 mb of free RAM with you "tip", other than number of free RAM you see in System Tuner, What has changed???
Just the apps you use regularly/often are killed and when you open them they put so much time after like a reboot because they are not kept in memory...

When browsing the web and playing games on the S3 you'll often find a crash. This is because the device has low memory. Deleting apps that use this resource will help by not wasting the memory ie the RAM.
I think its fair to say that the S3 demonstrates that low ram is a reality. I wish people would stop trying to defend the phone by saying low RAM is wasted. Get over it. It is real. The S3 cannot multitask like the S2 because the ROM is packed full of ****e running which is using up the RAM.

and aside from what many people have said on how memory works in android,
take a look at settings > application manager > running > then click the bottom "show cached processes"
for those who like to use 3rd party memory managers they will included these cached processes in killing.
they may kill unnecessary processes but along with it those apps that you always use.
now after killing those cached processes, you will see the system caching a new list of apps and many of them are not the ones you use.
thus memory managers/task killers are just spending cpu cycles in turn battery power killing tasks/apps that you always use and when the system detects the free memory it will load apps into cache and usually those apps aren't the one you use.
thus kills the purpose of those task killers/memory managers of freeing memory since the system will just load apps into memory and cache them.
I do not know why Sony want to keep 200M RAM
For example, even though I open a lot of programs, RAM uses about 70%. Then automatically kill other processes because RAM limit is reached., And I installed gameloft Vegas, but I could not play the game because insufficient RAM

Look the picture.This is Xperia TX new framework.The min free RAM only 50M. TX is able to play the Vegas and answer the phone.

In my friend's Sony Live With Walkman mobile free ram is only 43 and he was able to play Vegas without any problem...
Not sure if this helps but if you are rooted and you have ext SD card you can use link 2sd to move all apps to ext SD card and use folder mount to move game data to ext SD this will give you back more ram and storage space on device.
I use both of these and look at my ss

Foldermount is free but limited to 3 active folders the pro version is available from with the app.
I found Foldermount is easier to use.

To really answer your question, It is not Sony's fault nor Google's, the 200MB ram are used by the Linux kernel. All the kernel is loaded into the memory, it is the same for ALL operating systems. Windows do the same (you can see it in Task Manager under the Performance tab : "Kernel Memory"). You can't do anything against that except if you rooted your phone and you want to build a kernel, but you won't gain much memory for the pain...
The problem with this phone killing process is not because of RAM (it has plenty of it), but the latest Android versions doesn't allow too many Applications open at the same time (I remember something like 3 in Foreground... The V6 Supercharger thread has a good explanation )
From My Friend's Xperia T with Android 4.1.2 .. Sony increased the User Memory upto 870 MB... In ICS it was only 650 MB If we get an update like that means good..

400M free
However, there is in this 400M，200M unavailable
When you free RAM reaches 200M, the system will kill the other processes in order to keep 200M free.

If you don't want to pay for the foldermount, you can do it manually, using symlinks, it isn't that hard.

I just got my T-Mobile G2 a couple of days ago. I don't have a lot of experience yet but I'm curious if this is the normal RAM usage vs availability. If so do you have any problems running high end games, apps, etc? I am presently on 4.4.2. I have used Titanium Backup to freeze a lot of system apps. This just seems like it could be an issue. I also use Greenify to hibernate some apps as well. Any thoughts on this?

I would love to get an expert answer on this. I recently changed it PAC Man Rom and now it appears I have even less available memory. I'm not noticing any lag or anything but it just bugs me. I added up everything cached and running and it totalled like 364mb not even half a gig of ram. This phone has 2GB of ram. So I dunno just seems weird to me. I guess as long as it's not all laggy then that's what matters.

I guess my confusion is what happens if I've got 400 mb of ram and I go to play GTA San Andreas... Lol. Will it pull it off? Guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Yeah, the more RAM used the better. I'm using PA3.99RC2 with a kernel (I forget where I got it; just says d800 custom 5 cm) that doesn't use enough RAM. I always have 700-800MB free. I don't know what sysctl changes I can make to increase RAM use. I hope my phone isn't using a swap on its slow mobile phone NAND .
You can use Greenify which now doesn't require root. You can disable apps/system apps running on background that you don't use.

I have Greenify. But nevertheless I played Riptide GP2 earlier with full graphics. Smooth as butter. Good enough for me. :thumbup:
