I've had this messages icon stuck on my notification menu for a while now. Clicking on it makes the phone reboot. Any suggestions?
Thank.
i assume you tried a reboot?

That took care of it temporarily, but that downloading messages icon showed up again. Any idea what app might be causing it?

If you cleared the cache on that app and it didn't work all I can think is that another app is starting it. Maybe Gmail? You most likely will have to find guilty app or consider a factory reset.

I changed my uastring to desktop mode and now every time I try to open my browser it force closes it won't display anything so I can't even change it back. anyone else encounter this and have a resolution?
I'm on stock j16, native browser.
I did this a long time ago with a similar experience. I think I just restored a nandroid backup. I'm sure there are other methods, but this worked for me.
I encountered this issue recently. You have to empty out the cache in the browser.

All you do is go to applications click menu and select all applications to show. The when you find browser clear cache defaults and force stop. That's how mine was fixed.

thanks guys. both of these helped! also for someone else who might encounter this, your apps list is automatically filtered so i couldn't even find my browser in the apps. you have to select menu > filter > all to actually see the browser.

Happy to help. Somehow T.W prevents the ua string from working without flash. It only works with froyo.

Hello,
I recently had a force-close issue on a recent rom (syndicate frozen 1.1.0) where I was overclocking to 1.4ghz and tried to wifi tether. Tether would not start, so I closed it with taskmanager, and restarted tether. Phone instantly rebooted and I was stuck with the apps that were previously running force-closing.
You need to be rooted for this to work.
Make a list of all the apps that are force closing (important that you include your launcher)
I found out that if you go to the "report" button, there is a "more info" button that opens browser (hopefully it still works). From there, do a google search for a free root file system browser apk (there are plenty of them). Download the apk. the pulldown menu should still be working. Once the download finishes, you will get a notification, pull down the bar and install the app. after it installs, you will get a prompt to "open" the app or "close" the window, choose "open". Navigate to your /data/data folder. search for something that resembles an app that keeps force closing. Enter that folder and delete all the files/folders inside. repeat for the rest of the broken apps. Reboot your phone and it should work fine now.
I am asking that all/most rom developers to add another button on the "force close" "report" notification labeled "fix" that deletes the files from the apps data folder.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this just the same thing as going to settings-apps and then clearing data for that app?

ooooorrrr you could goto menu>settings>applications>find the app force closing and click clear data and achieve the same thing a lot easier...
rom developers dont have the ability to add buttons to those windows... those reports goto google or samsung...

I just enable journaling and what is this?
First off, sorry about the misplaced post.
I know it does the same thing, but if you are stuck at a force-close loop and your launcher app will not load, not allowing you to access the app management page; you see the dilemma.

i believe this could be because journaling is disabled. After you get your phone set up the way you want it, make a backup. Then restore the backup and you have journaling enabled. Or at the very least, if you get stuck at a force close loop, you will still have a backup to restore and not have to spend hours setting up all your apps etc.
just sayin'
Can also use JournalingOn.zip to instantly enable journaling.. but always having a bckup on hand is a good thing

Every time I go into Settings/Storage/Cached data and hit it to clear it I start getting this "No external storage" error when I go to Camera or gallery. Takes a reboot to get rid if it. Android 4.2.1 stock.
Anyone else can reproduce this too?

No. Not plugged into anything. You cannot reproduce this?

Just tried it had about 250mb cache -> 1mb. Didn't get any pop up.

I just had this one a while ago. I had the phone charging from the power outlet. I unplugged it and after a while decided to try and take a picture. Launched the camera and got that message.
I then launched root explorer to see if it doesn't really see the external storage which wasn't the case as I was able to browse my files. A quick reboot cleared the error. I havent been able to replicate the issue so far.

I believe its a bug of some sort for JB camera itself. I tried to clear cache again through settings. It the displays the same error. I launched task manager list and swiped the camera app out of the list. I relaunched camera and it ran fine. Better than rebooting the entire phone.
I use a third party app to clear my cache anyway and that doesn't seem to affect the camera.

If that was for me, then No. I have not changed anything to cache any different than what stock does. No changes. This is a bug it seems in JB. I flashed the Google images again to make sure it wasn't anything I had done.

Did you go to Storage, and clicked on 'Cached Data' to clear it? If that's what you did, then you will get this error next time you go to Gallery/Camera. If you want to clear cached data (and not see this error), remove the camera/Gallery apps from the 'Recent Apps' list BEFORE clearing cache.

Recent apps refers to the app switcher or the (by default) right-most button in the navigation bar (with the icon of two boxes).

I'm using a Honor 7 (PLK-L01) so not sure if its the same for you guys. I had to set a data limit in the traffic reminder settings and after that the option to enable/disable "Display network speed" appeared.
Guyz first of all u need to set Monthly Data Limit. Only after that the desired option will appear. Cheers
I did set the Monthy Data Limit, but the Display network speed option didn't appear. B575.

Go to Traffic Reminder Settings (now you must be very quick, as it will appear only for few milliseconds.), it will appear right above "lock screen data reminder".

Has anybody had any luck removing Emergency Alerts? I have a notification from this application that will not go away, no matter what I do. I have tried clearing cache, force stop, unchecking everything in the app itself.....nothing will get this orange notification to go away. I am afraid that if I uninstall it with TB that it will cause other issues.
