Good morning friends. I got a problem with my Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500. It's weird. I was looking at my Gallery when suddenly the phone power off. When I press the button of power on, it appears the screen of "Samsung" but it didn't make anything. So i took out the battery and then putted on again, and the same thing. After a lot of tries, my phone power on...but when I but my code for unlocking the screen, the phone power off again. I made this many times...and the same result. So I decide to put the rom again...so I use Odin and reinstall the firmware. Everthing was alright. My phone power on for a while, but when the screen get lock and i put my unlock code, the phone power off once again. I don't know what it could be. Its really weird. I have been looking for bootloop troubleshooting but still not getting anything. I hope u can give me a solution. Thanks in advance.

good battery is very essential for a well running device...
no idea about other reason, it might be a hardware failure.
Hello, maybe this was posted a lot of times, I just wanna get a second opinion before getting this to the shop. My phone (GT-i9500) suddenly went on to boot loop. I cannot enter download mode nor recovery mode. When attempting to put on download mode, when it tells me to press volume up, nothing happens and it restarts again. I was partially able to boot to recovery but it only showed the TWRP splash page then it reboots again. Does this mean that I have a broken motherboard? Any suggestions?

Yes why not but if the battery is defective that will not fix it or help.
Did you try to go into recovery with the phone plug in to the charger? how it does behave?

Let us know how it goes
The exact same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. It happened exactly a year after I got my GT-I9500. Around midnight one weekend the phone had quite a bit of charge and was working fine. As I unlocked the screen to check a WhatsApp message, the phone suddenly shut down and entered a bootloop with the same symptoms as yours. I couldn't enter my stock recovery and download mode would only come up for a few seconds and it would re-enter the bootloop. I tried numerous battery pulls and made it loop over quite a bit and then gave up after an hour and left the battery out. Throughout the day I occasionally tried my luck to no avail. Maybe after 48 hours or less - a day without trying my luck included - since the initial incident, I carried it to the shop and as the employee put the battery in the phone I was baffled. The phone booted normally, no issues and has worked perfectly fine since then. She said sometimes our phones need a little rest.
I've also read that our model has had some battery problems like swelling. I noticed no swelling by the way. So my advice, leave the battery out for a day or two. My phone was not rooted at the time and was running stock TouchWiz Android 4.4.2. Good luck!

So I finally got it repaired, the guy replaced something, about the size of 2x1 mm. He said it was for the power button. He charged me around $10 which I think is not bad.

Hi Mate,
Great to know , glad it was something cheap and easy.
Well mine S4 turned of last night it freezed and it turned off. I'm on Broodroms Pre Final 4.4.4. After that it turned on and shows only the S4 splash screen and then it turns off again and it won't turn on. After i pulled out the battery and placed it back then it boots but then again it shows only the S4 splash screen and then it turns off again. I've read some things on the internet that it maybe can be a dead battery that is causing this problem. Or maybe it is an another problem maybe that you XDA members can help me it would be great :fingers-crossed:

If u can boot to recovery, flash your stock official rom. Should be fixed after that.
Or you can also flash your official rom in Odin.

Is your phone charged? The very basic question.
Put it on charging for a while try getting in the download mode then.
If still no succes..then there is a way too...

That happened to me once and reason was because the phone was not charging (even if USB has power supplied).
To solve this, I first removed it from the samsung charger and charged it using a laptop or computer for approximately 10 minutes.
That will get it charging

try booting into download mode if at all possible and try flashing a stock ROM via odin!!
hit Thanks if it helped!!
I've tried to connect it to my laptop but it won't charge unfortunately. I'm also not possible to get it in to download mode it shutdown after a few seconds. And it wil only turn on If I remove the battery and replace it the phone will vibrate, show the Galaxy S4 splash screen for a second or two, then it turns off again. Searching on the internet people say that it's a faulty battery so i could try that method and if that is not working i think it's something with the mainbord (i hope not)

Change the battery AND/OR
Try a USB JIG then. The final thing that can be done. Heard it works with i9500 too.
Buy yourself a USB JIG from ebay or something and try getting in the download mode. It costs less than INR200.
Thank me if I helped

Hey guys,
This is my first time posting, although I am constantly on the forums looking for help and ROMS. Its been about 4 months since the last ROM I downloaded for my phone. Its actually been 4 months since I did anything to my phone. I found a ROM that worked and kept with it. I have a sprint galaxy s4. fyi.
But yesterday while I was in the middle of texting on my phone it randomly shut off. When I tried to turn it back on nothing happened. Then I pulled the battery out and it rebooted showing the Samsung Galaxy S4 screen for about 3 seconds and then shut off again. I tried another working battery and still nothing. So then I pulled the battery out and try to get into the bootloader (holding down the volume up button). It said it was going into the recovery but then shut off about 3 seconds in. So then I tried holding down the volume down, home, and power button which allowed me to go to the OEM(I don't know if that's the correct term but it was a warning about tampering with the software) So I pressed volume up to continue and it immediately shut off again.
I cant get passed anything for about 5 seconds in without it shutting off. It's extremely frustrating and annoying that I literally cannot do anything with it.
Any sort of help or input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much in advance!

Make sure you have a well charged battery. Once this happened to me the phone was running hot and the little charge it had was wasted trying to get it to download mode. also having it connected to a computer/power outlet sometimes messes with the boot up. The timing of when you press the buttons also affects the loading. as soon as you see hte Galaxy S4 logo let go of the buttons. Hope this helps/.

I tried 2 different batteries, I also tried having it plugged into the computer, charger, anything. I've also tried different timing on the buttons appreciate the response though. I'm going to keep trying the timing of it.
Anyone have any other suggestions?
Sounds to me like it can be a defective power button which Samsung is notorious of making on their devices.

Hey BIGSAMDA1ST....thank you so much I looked at it more closely and it seems like the button half of the button is jammed up in there.
Hopefully that's what was causing the problems. ?
Same probleme here (also since yesterday)
Could you solve the problem? I had the same problem yesterday. Galaxy S4 with CM 11. Suddendly the phone rebooted and it just came to life for about 3-4 seconds after taking the battery out and in again. After a few tries it booted coorectly again. But today the same thing happened and now it's dead for about 3 hours. Now I am going to buy an external charger and try to load the battery to 100 %. I also disassembled the phoine and checked the powerbutton for functionality.
Yeah that was not the problem. lol I'm sending it to an outside company due to the face that its not under any warranty. I'm saying its bricked lol
Hello folks.
So I left my A1 charging at night, the alarm woke me up as usual in the morning. Just before leaving home I took it to check the time and then it was already "dead".
PS: The phone was never been knocked over, wet etc...
Symptoms:
- Black screen, as if was turned off / without battery;
- Buttons do not work;
- Doesn't react to any connections.
- Doesn't enters fastboot mod;
- It's not recognized by the computer;
- Also not charging.
Any help is welcome, best regards.
happened to me the other day on AEX, after flashing a kernel, turns out it does switch on but I had to press the power button for quite some time and then it switched off again upon minutes from switching on. I entered the recovery with the same method and installed another kernel, it works fine now

It's a possibility, but it's strange the phone has like 4 months of use, never had any problem.
I'm willing to try some stuff first, even open the phone to unplug and replug the battery on the mb.
Otherwise at my country (Brazil) Xiaomi has no warranty
I had this problem and it was just due to an loose flex cable. Try opening and reattaching them :good:

No problem, just two screws att the bortom and use the nails around the edge. Be careful not to break the plastic frame around the screen, it can be quite weak.

So yesterday a oppened the phone, disatached the flats and atatched then again, unfortunatelly didn't help =[.
We also made some tests and seems like it could be an issue with the battery seems like it's not charging nor receiving any charge.
Seems like the "regulator" of the battery or something like that is not working as it should.
I'm gonna try to test this a in a more acurate way, at least to be sure that it's the battery.
Probably on EDL mode. Try reflashing stock with MiFlash. Helped me once.

You can try make edl usb cable first, if not work then search mi a1 test point, you'll need to jump 2 point on motherboard with wire/pin.

So yesterday i tryed to make the phone enter at the EDL mode, by jumping the 2 points on the motherboard. Unfortunately the computer didn't recognized the phone at all, i'v tryed several times.
I'm starting to think that something related to the the motherboard just died.
I'll lend it to a tecnical that can fix it or at least confirm the death of the phone to me.

Even with the battery disconnected and ubs at computer or charger, the phone still not giving any signal of life.
Does it mean that it must be a serious problem?

Hello mate.
I'm sry for you phone, at my case i'm starting to believe that the mb/cpu died.
I was thinking that it could be the board at the bottom (ubs, mic jac) but i have been told that it's really rare this to happen.
Yesterday i tested the battery and it's fully charged, (so the battery isn't the problem)
I'm weeling to take it at the end of the week into a tec who can test all the hardware stuff in order to know what actually have failed.
Have u also tryed to engage ur phone at EDL Mode?

Its sad cause i really loved that phone. I might buy a used cheap one with a broken screen and use its main board or other parts.
