[Q] Why are my Battery stats wiping themself overnight? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i had 92% battery last night with 15 hours on battery..turned my phone off for the night ...turned it back on this morning and my battery stats have started from fresh again and now i have 1 hours on battery??
this has happened a few times now were i havent gone under 90% and my stats are wiped clean....
any ideas guys?
:good:

bump?

........................

Are you charging it overnight? Mine resets as well, but I thought that was because it reached 100%

If you're rebooting it,then your battery stats will reset when you turn it off
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

im not rebooting...just ''power off''.......
now yesterday i turned the phone off at 80% 15 hours on battery....and my battery stats are still there?
they havent reset themself like they would of if i was over 90% left...

[BATT] Seriously, Clear Your Battery Stats After Bump Charging

I decided to do an experiment this morning. My fiance and I both have Dincs. We're both running SkyRaider 2.0.1. We both have the 1500mah touch pro 2 battery. I bump charged both phones this morning and both went off the charger at 8:30. I cleared my battery stats in clockwork immediately after the bump charge. I didn't clear her battery stats. She had been getting better battery life largely because I use my phone a lot more than she does. That changed today.
The numbers don't lie...
---------------------------------------------------------------
my phone - battery bump charged and battery stats wiped:
8/3 - off charger: 8:30am
Stats @ 10AM
Uptime: 1.5 hours
Awake: 1.25 hours
% left: 94%
Stats @ 12:30PM
Uptime: 4 hours
Awake: 3.75 hours
% left: 85%
Stats @ 3:45PM
Uptime: 7.25 hours
Awake: 7 hours
% left: 68%
Stats @ 12:30AM
Uptime: 16 hours
Awake: 10.5 hours
% left: 24%
---------------------------------------------------------
Fiance's Phone - Bump Charged, battery stats not wiped:
8/3 - off charger: 8:30am
Stats @ 12:30PM
Uptime: 4 hours
Awake: 1.25 hours
% left: 68%
Stats @ 12:30AM
Uptime: 16 hours
Awake: 7 hours
% left: 12%
----------------------------------------------------------
I've come to the conclusion that wiping your battery stats is a very important thing to do and will give you hours more battery life. I'm currently losing a little over 4% per hour, which should give me 23-25 hours of battery life. This is a very significant improvement over the 14-16 hours that she will likely get.
I do find it really odd however that my Uptime and Awake Time are so close. This would normally lead me to believe that some program isn't letting my phone go to sleep, but my battery life indicates that isn't happening.
----------------------------------------------------------
Day 2: Didn't get rid of need to bump charge. First bump charge actually seemed to take a little longer this morning (over 30 minutes). Second bump was 6 minutes. Had to scrap today since my fiance's phone didn't charge last night. It wasn't plugged into the wall. Doh!
i might give this a try. i'll be interested to see if others try it and see what their results are.
Would I have to clear battery stats every day in order to achieve this additional battery life, or is it only a semi-regular thing?
???
How do you wipe them in clockwork?
Question- did you fully charge, wipe, then drain battery down /all the way/ before re-charging (e.g. phone shuts itself down) or did you charge, wipe, and then let it drain a bit and then just plug it back in the charger at night without letting it shut itself down from lack of battery?
Thanks.
I just tried this earlier as well. I bump charged (charged with power off until led went green, booted all the way up, and then powered off, repeated this cycle like 3 times) and then wiped battery stats in clockworkmod (it's in advanced).
Too soon to see if it makes a difference, and I really didn't have any problems but figured longer is better right
Edit: I now plan to let the phone run until it shuts its self off

I doubt it, but don't know for sure yet. I'm tempted to charge it back up now to see if there is a difference in length of time spent bump charging. I hope it shortens it. I won't be clearing either of our stats tomorrow to see if the battery gains comparable to hers stick.

reboot into clockwork, scroll to advanced (i believe), then wipe battery stats

I let it drain itself all the way, then charged it overnight. woke up. bump charged for 1 cycle then cleared the stats.
Doesn't work for me, bump charged this morning then booted to recovery and wiped battery stats. If anything, it appears my battery life is worse and one side effect is I did not have 3g on the first reboot.

Your 3g data drop on reboot has nothing to do with wiping your battery stats. It's a known bug in the 2.2 roms. There's also no way that it could make your battery life worse. You're probably just using more heavily today. It's hard to compare one day to the next since your usage levels vary. I know that I use my phone way more than my fiance and comparing the same phones pulled off the charger at the same time is the only way to tell if it makes a difference.

I didn't have any problems with 3g on the first boot, and my battery life doesn't really appear to have been effected. I can go about a day between charges, and it stayed the same.... completely anecdotal though and I've only been through one charge.
you should clear stats regardless

I know about the 3g bug but I've never encountered it, ever, until I wiped the battery stats. Maybe that's just a coincidence.
Maybe the reboot due to the loss of 3g is what drained the battery more quickly initially. My routine is the same every morning. Unplug the phone, turn on pandora, walk ten minutes to work. So I have a fairly even amount of usage for the first few hours since it sits idle after that.
Maybe I'll revise my initial thoughts to say it may not be worse for the battery but I'm definitely not seeing the improvements you are. Can I ask what ROM you're running?
First Time Bumping
I have had issues on and off since I got my Dinc. Running SkyRaider RC3 atm seems worse since I flashed it.... 2.5 seemed better. Doing a bump charge/wipe now and will post later with results. I am a fairly heavy user (I know 'heavy' is very relative) and know that a whole day (about 8am to 8pm) is pushing it for me, but I am lucky to make it till 12pm. I have actually seen it drop to 20% before 11am. During the first few hours of the day, I may check 2 emails, send no more than 3 txt and make one phone call... Seems like a big drain for that.
Weird, I wiped my battery stats today for the first time and also NEVER had a 3g problem when rebooting. Now EVERY TIME I reboot there isn't 3g untill I turn on and off airplane mode. I know the two doesn't seem to be revenant, but it seems like a lot of people are running into the same exact problem. Anyone care to input on this?
Well later on in the day I tried a restart again the the 3g turned on a few minutes after the phone booted. It still hadn't ever taken this long before, but it did come through on its own. Just a little update on my last post. I'm still interested in knowing why though
Well so far so good, but didn't use it much today. 3G bug happens to me every reboot, but comes on in a few seconds. I'm at 54% atm and bumped/cleared at 2pm est its now 10 pm

If your phone uptime is close or same as the number of hours u have since unplugged, that means it's the usb bug preventing your phone from going to sleep.
What u need to do each time your phone is fully charged (connected to the wall charger or USB cable), u will need to unplug the cable and do a manual reboot.
Otherwise, the phone might still think it is plugged to an external power source and refuse to go to sleep even while your screen is turned off and your phone is idle.
Then u should see using Spare Parts or Battery History App, that your uptime is around 10% to 16% of your total time the phone has been unplugged.

After Battery stats wipe...

has anyone had the issue of the battery dying extremely fast after a stats wipe?
so i wiped battery stats after following the directions for royalginger...but was never able to get the rom to boot...so ive loaded up a backup...but now the battery is losing about 3-5% every 30 minutes with the phone just sitting idle on my desk
this battery normally would normally sit at 100% for at least 9 hours idling just sitting on my desk overnight or just while i work on the computer
so the details...im running IG 1.1.6 with Faux's 0.7.7b kernel...OC'ed to 1209max/368min...watchdog claims to have 49 apps running with 1% used and 95% idle...wifi and wifi calling enabled
so anyone got any ideas? is it normal to see battery drain quicker after stat wipe? should i let this drain and then follow one of the calibrate battery guides?
im at a loss here...i just want my 9 hours at 100% back
I never got 9 hours just sitting I'm trying to get that now...

From what I gather you really aren't suppossed to do a stats wipe as of now. Since there is a bug in the phone/recovery which powers the phone on while charging there is now way to fill the battery to a true 100% so you could then wipe the stats.
If you did, chances are you wiped when your phone realyl wasnt at 100%, thus now your 100% is really 90.,.

Curious battery behavior

Lol that's funny: see what happened today to my battery indicator:
It was 18%, i shut down the phone for a minute, when i turned on again my Xperia it was at 43% LOL.
Then the discharge was quicker and i had my phone at 5% three hours later.
Strange problem!
I'm on 4.2.2 Generic Es flashed with flashtools.
Same thing happened to me yesterday, im on PAC however.
Gesendet von meinem C6603 mit Tapatalk 4 Beta
well seems 4.2.2 don't have better (or even the same level) performance on battery. Needs to be improved by Sony in next edition
Happens to me too, just turned off now it was 20% I forgot earlier on I turned it off and the battery spiked up.
Well at least it'll get a full charge now..
I got the same problem after 4.2.2 update
Odoslané z C6603 cez Tapatalk 2
ive also experienced this once since I updated to 4.2.2 ES version
but its not returned since
yesterday
so thinking it was just a software glitch
I noticed the battery performance getting worse than 4.1.2, I charge the battery until reaching 100% and when I remove the plug; the % goes to 98 and discharges faster, never happened with the later firmware.
Sent from my C6603 using xda premium
It happened after 4.2.2 update battery was 70% then it hit 80% after restart
happened to me a few times... guess that is just bad calibration, think it will be better after a few days of full charge and complete usage.
It's turned off at 15% and kept going for an hour at 1% so far, after a couple of full charges, I haven't checked how they are measuring battery in the kernel source , presume a voltage drop. but the algorithm isn't right.

My battery was showing 16% and after I rebooted it showed 36% and my phone died at about 15%.I deleted batterystats.bin and charged it till 100 and discharged to 0%..I charged it again to 100% but my phone turned off at 30% lol..I'm charging to 100% again.. And when I looked in power management it showed this..

Just a piece of info for you. Deleting the batterystats.bin file does nothing apart from wipe the info that is used to display battery usage stats when you look at your battery graph. The file is deleted and recreated when the battery is fully charged anyway.
See Android framework engineer Dianne Hackborn's post on the matter - https://plus.google.com/app/basic/stream/z13dgb0rksywh3muq222fzkqnwfgdbgrk04
Also, while it's nice to see high standby estimations in the power management app, it is very rarely accurate. If you search around, there are posts complaining that it doesn't work properly

Good to know that this just didn't happen to me. Two days ago I was on about 30% then my phone just turned off. It wouldn't reboot for me though until I had plugged it back in. I don't think I have been getting worse battery life since going to 4.2.2 as it has seemed normal for the last week, it was just that once and I'm guessing it was just reporting it wrong for some reason.
Yup.. Thanks..I saw the post on g+ once but I had no other option.. When I asked some ppl, everybody told me to delete the batterystats.bin file.. so I was helpless..I knew that wasn't the right solution but I had to delete it..do u know any other way we can calibrate our battery for more accuracy?

Battery
same problem happened to me....but what I did was I had fully drained the battery and left the mobile to cool off for half an hour then charged the battery upto 100% then switched on the mobile and did a battery calibration by using 'Battery Calibration' app I don't know whether this method is correct or not but this method has regained the battery life now my battery is draining correctly it seems ok now......

That's exactly what I did but instead of using the battery calibration app I directly deleted the batterystats.bin file, that's what the app does too..and after two to three times charging to 100% and discharging to 0,it worked fine for 2 days and now when my battery was at 28%,I restarted my phone it showed the battery as 56% and the phone switched off at 27%..this is happening even after I did all that battery calibration stuff..I'm really getting mad cuz this bug..I'm hoping an update would roll out soon

[Q] Strange battery problem?

I've had my nexus 4 for about 6 months and started having battery problems about 2 months back. My phone would just get worse and worse as time went on. It would randomly die when the battery was at 40% and would only get 2 hours of sot. Later it got worse and died at 70% getting only about 1 hour of sot. Now it got to the point where its unusable without a charger, if I unplug it the phone will last for 30 minutes max and then shut down. When I try to reboot it after it dies like this it boots up and instantly dies after about 5 seconds. Sometimes the phone reboots while it is plugged into the charger, while unplugged the phone instantly dies if I take a photo especially with flash. I tried resetting the battery by unplugging it and plugging it back. I noticed that the battery has expanded in size, even making my back cover not flat anymore. My question is if I replace the battery will this solve my problems? Here is a few screenshots of my battery stats:

Replace the battery ASAP or RMA the device for a new one. Those are all telltale signs of a bad battery, especially the swelling. Strange that it happened so early though.

Hello mates,
About the Battery.
2 days ago I flashed the 4.3 factory image, I slept yesterday night and the phone was on 43% of battery at 1:00 am. When I woke up 9:15 am today's morning, I found that the battery in JUST 4% !!!!
could you guess the problem here ?
I never used Hangouts, nor Google now.
By the way , I'm using STOCK ROM with FRANCO KERNEL.
If I'm not mistaken, before the phone powered off, the screen on time was 47% ( 2 hours ), Phone Idle 6%, and Cell standby was in 9%.

Strange but, your problem is probably only due to the software, maybe you didn't wipe cache or dalvik or just had a bad install, although if its persistent like mine replace the battery

mmc0_detect drain

Hi guys merry Christmas,
I haven't rooted my phone or anything but for 2 weeks now I have that mmc0_detect wakelock.
I'm losing over 10% overnight with the airplane mod on.
When I check the battery stats android system is at 51% and android os at 15%.
I've downloaded better battery stats but since I'm not rooted I can only see kernel wakelocks.
Cpu stats shows that my phone still goes to deep sleep.
I cleared caches and yet it's still here.
I'm not sure how to fix the problem.
Did anyone had an idea?
I found on an Italian website that it can be caused by a faulty sdcard.
But since it's impossible to put one in, the problem remains
I have 20% battery drain overnight (8 hours). I just got used to it lol.
Sent from my LG-D801 using Tapatalk
Yeah but that's not normal. Have you tried better battery stats?
