How to change color? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My old gnex used AK kernel and the colors were vivid, LG g2 screen doesn't compare to what I have on gnex. Is there a way to change the color settings?

(Q) Dark UI option?

So most ROMS now have an option to enable a Dark UI. On Xylon it's Dark Xylon, Pac is Pac is black, etc.
I'm just curious, does it only change menus to black? And is that it? It just seems a bit pointless having a whole option, just to change the menu background.
Sorry but that's just my opinion. Or is there more to this toggle that I'm missing? Thank you vet much!

Looking forward to someone answering this..
Well the name of the toggle is quite self explanatory...it makes the ui dark. This includes most menus, as well as other general parts of the interface (quicksettings, notification drawer, etc). I really dont see how its pointless...what more are you expecting it to do. If you dont like it, ignore it and continue on with your life.
It saves battery on devices with AMOLED screens
No it is not just the menus and backgrounds. It is also text colors and images.

Its a little more than just backgrounds. For example their is a reason slim ROMs tells you to download their gapps over say the official gapps. It colors anything that is coded to react to the dark ui or inverted mode. In my case the play store and the gmail widgets/app

So it does not offer any other benifits other than a dark look for non AMOLED devices? More or less like a dark theme.. ?

Black offers battery improvements for oled only...This is IPS+ so you're doing yourself a disfavor by using inverted gapps and those real black black themes some ROMs offer. You can Google lg IPS+ tech docs and white is the only color that uses less pwr on IPS than oled.

I find having white letters on a dark background shows better, allowing me to turn the backlight lower, so there is some benefit.

I see better with black text on a white bg, so I can also have a lower brightness. When using black bg on n4 I can't see as well so I raise brightness to like half outdoors.

I know mostly others are like that, seeing better black on white. Bright white is displeasing to my eyes, like bright lights. I actually suffer from a bit of night blindness. A lot of bright white makes it hard for me to read tiny black letters. Turning the brightness down only seems to blur the black letters for me. Plus, when my eyes tire, it only gets worse. I actually prefer white letters on dark gray vs black.

RGB 255/255/255
GAMMA
Grays 0
Mids 87
Blacks 119

The paid Franco kernel app (not sure about the free one) has loads of built-in colour profiles though you have to press a button to access them. Go to Colour Control->Load Your Colour Profile->Load Colour Profile Presets and you will see them.

Colors look washed out?

After switching from ktoonesz kernel to agats kernel when I rebooted the colors of the screen look washed out and much less vibrant than usual? Ive tryed changing screen modes and it still looks weird any suggestions?

Probably something with the kernel colors. May be different. You can try using an app that'll let you fine tune them how you like. Such as trinity or voodoo.

Ktoonsez Kernel has Trinity Colours built in. That is why. By switching off of that kernel your new one either doesnt support it, or doesnt have it set to on by default.
Yeah I just switched to fauxs kernel and the colors are back to what I believe is normal lol.

[Q] Is there a way to adjust the color calibration

I'm rooted on the i9505g and I'm having no luck finding a way to adjust the rgb color calibration of the display. The display appears too warm to my eyes and I would like to match the cooler display of my nexus 4. It's especially noticeable when I have a white background like in Google plus. Whites appear more yellow than pure white and it's driving me nuts. Thanks in advance for any help

Thanks but I already tried that and it doesn't seem to actually adjust the colors but instead it applies overlay of color

Can the moto x active notifications be ported to the G2?

Just wondering if this is even possible? The black and white notifications on the moto x look so sleek.
Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
If I'm not mistaken it wouldn't work right because this is an ips display. The moto x is an oled display. Difference is that the x can turn on just those individual pixels needed for that notification while the rest remain completely off. With ours, the whole screen would have to be lit up (although in black) which would make it drain far more battery.

You could use Knock2 which does almost the same. Although impact on Battery will be higher for sure.
But you can try it at least https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.knock.knock.demo
Dynamic Notifications works pretty good.

Or, try this?

Thanks for the replies. I'll have to try out active notify and the dynamic notifications for now until I root and can install a custom rom.
