You probably turned something on in accessibility. this happened to me when I turned on Google voice for dash clock just turn off whatever you turned on and it will fix itself it is a talk back bug. I even rooted removed talk back and it still happened
I downloaded a app called led blinker pro. I removed the app . And that's what was causing the problem. Thanks

There is a bug/feature that Samsung built into their phone (perhaps all THEIR Android phones) and this may explain your issue, in any case it explained at least 2 cases I know of:
http : //dennis2centsworth.blogspot.com/2011/02/auto-rotate-not-working-on-samsung.html
Basically do not lock orientation with anything other than the Samsung's "orientation Lock"...
I use Google Now quite often but when I woke up this morning, swiping up from the bottom of the screen no longer does anything. I don't remember turning Now off and can't seem to find the settings to turn it back on.
Does anyone know how to turn it back on?

do you still have google now installed? is the search app working?
No now that I looked the Google search bar is missing as well. I looked in settings>apps>all and can't find it to enable it, not that I ever disabled it anyway.

okay, click on this link from your n7 and use the play store app. does it say installed or not? https://play.google.com/store/apps/...nbGUuYW5kcm9pZC5nb29nbGVxdWlja3NlYXJjaGJveCJd
That worked. It was disabled and I needed to enable it. I don't know how it got disabled but its fixed now. Thanks for the help

I have the same problem but when I go into settings, I don't see the toggle key to enable/disable Google now.
Hello everyone, I have activated the accessibility light flow only now luancher or in part in the gallery the voice that tells me what I'm doing and obviously do not want it, I solved by checking on off sounds in Accesibility only so that also s-voice no longer speaks and what I was comfortable then there is a way that you do not speak when he pleases but the voice features to work?
Thanks for the help
Install light manager from the playstore. It has the same function al light flow but it doesnt need to be enabled jn the accessibility settings.

The problem is I bought the light flow and everything set up so I did not take it off
I'm sorry to hear that. But it is a known issue with the Accessibility settings. Maybe this will be fixed in an official update.

So for now there is no solution
Yes there is a solution! Install some 3rd party TTS engine from playstore (e.g.: Classic TTS) and set it as default and that's it No more TalkBack
Just tried your suggestion but this fixes not all problems. If you view a picture in the gallery in the landscape mode the blue bar on the top will not disappear. So for now there isnt a 100% solution

I think I had the same problem but after some time it just vanished

The new version of light manager (paid) has a root option the has a Samsung root option in it that does not require activating the accessibility option. It worked for me.

Yes this works. But the question was if the galaxy s4 can handle Light Flow. I'm also using light manager and it works great
--Solution--
Guys I've got good news.
After flashing the new official MEA firmware the problem gets fixed !
Now you can use LightFlow :good:

It's more likely that you've got an app doing that. You could also check your sleep settings (Settings --> Wi-Fi --> Advanced), but I'd be relatively sure that there's an app trying to sync and turning on Wi-Fi as a result.
+1 Rirere
definitely. Especially if you have an app that manages your schedule where wifi / airplane mode is off at certain times of the day.

One way of looking is if you have a firewall app and see which app is using data when you leave the tablet in active (disable all account syncing through settings -> accounts to avoid any false positives).
Alternatively you can do something similar above. Disable sync, and see what apps are chewing up data through the settings menu (Settings -> Data usage) when you disable all syncing. Probably one of the easiest way to do it without installing other apps.
Hope that helps
Can't I use LogCat for this?

My GPS keeps turning on randomly. I have location services and such turned off, but they keep turning back on. Anyone know what's causing it, or how I could track down if an app is doing it?

Thanks Christ for create this thread as I am about to post the same question.
It has happened in the last couple days. I wouldn't say 100% but surely 98% every time I turn the screen on, there is "searching for GPS" pops up.
It keeps running for from a few seconds to minute then turns back off.
Yes, I DID set to disable GPS.
Does anyway we can figure out which app is actually searching for GPS, gurus?
Facebook does for me and I don't know how to prevent that **** from doing so.

Just disable Location in FB/Messenger app.

How do you know it's the FB?
It used to search for gps whenever I received a Facebook notification. It might not be the same issues for you. What about the weather widget?
Sent from my LG-D802 using xda app-developers app
I don't set any notification ON and FB isn't running at all.
I suspect the G+ but don't know for sure.
Weather widget is not a culprit.
For me, it was Carrier IQ. Once I disabled that, my random GPS wakes stopped.

Sounds reasonable but I do have CIQ enable from day one w/o any issue.
It just happens in the last couple of days. Maybe 2014 isn't the year for me?
Maybe GSam Battery Monitor can help pinpoint which app is causing the GPS wakes. Or Wakelock Detector.
I also have been noticing the location icon popping up on my status bar every now and then. I cant find what app is triggering it. I dont see cIQ in my application manager to disable it...
Sent from my GT-N8013 using Tapatalk
Running Applications > Android System > IQ Agent Service. Hit stop there and then hit stop for Android System. You'll have to do that at each boot unless you're rooted. If you're rooted, you can use System Tuner.
Here's my shots.
This is probably directly related to the issue or NOT.
Clearly, Location Manager Service goes crazy.
What it is is yet to figure out.
At one point, I saw Google Messaging Service kicked on so I turned off Hangouts SMS feature and along with a reboot, my battery is now better but the "searching for GPS " still pops up.
Is location services turned off also in Google Settings and Maps?

Absolutely YES
Those photos... completely baffling. Wow. My guess would be all the recommendations above and going through all apps requiring location and disabling it.
Could try Greenify. I use it. It hibernates apps so they won't run until you tell them to
