I use Google Now quite often but when I woke up this morning, swiping up from the bottom of the screen no longer does anything. I don't remember turning Now off and can't seem to find the settings to turn it back on.
Does anyone know how to turn it back on?

do you still have google now installed? is the search app working?
No now that I looked the Google search bar is missing as well. I looked in settings>apps>all and can't find it to enable it, not that I ever disabled it anyway.

okay, click on this link from your n7 and use the play store app. does it say installed or not? https://play.google.com/store/apps/...nbGUuYW5kcm9pZC5nb29nbGVxdWlja3NlYXJjaGJveCJd
That worked. It was disabled and I needed to enable it. I don't know how it got disabled but its fixed now. Thanks for the help

I have disabled Auto-Add Shortcuts in the Play Store settings but it seems to still keep adding them to my home screen every time I download an app. Have only noticed this behaviour since I started using 4.2. Thanks for your help.

I've also disabled this option on the play store but it's working fine on my phone. No shortcuts are added when I download an app

I just tried and it didn't auto add for me. May want to recheck it, reboot, and uncheck it again.

I know what you mean, until I learned it could be disabled it drove me crazy
I have issues with Google maps navigation. It's stuck at the "looking for location".
I tried it on my 16GB and my wifes 8GB and got the same.
When I tried to navigate on Copilot it worked well so I don't think it's the GPS issue.
Anyone else has similar problem?
This may or may not help, I am just tossing it out as something for you to try. My google navigation app was doing the same thing. It turns out because I switched off location access (to see if that conserved power) it stopped google navigation from working properly. So check your location access settings and make sure you have them turned on.
Download gps test from market and see if it locks onto a satellite

GPS test locks onto a satellite with no problem.
Check Settings->Accounts->Google->Location Settings and make sure the "Let Google apps access your location" is ON.
Mine did the same thing, when I tried to re-plot the course whilst in a call.
It appears to only do it when in a call, too.
A reboot resolves the problem. Slightly annoying.

My navigation is locking on and navigating me instantly... Where are you located? Might not work in certain countries?

Not a problem.
You didn't force the 4.2.1 update with the Google Services Framework trick by any chance did you?
I had the exact same issue...

Lol. Thought so! It clears that setting.
It took some Ninja Googling to find out what was going on. Don't know why all the Location settings aren't located in the one place, it would make life a bit easier.

I also had the same problem and forced the 4.2.1 update with the Google services framework trick, and this seems to have fixed the problem.
Thank you!

It's more likely that you've got an app doing that. You could also check your sleep settings (Settings --> Wi-Fi --> Advanced), but I'd be relatively sure that there's an app trying to sync and turning on Wi-Fi as a result.
+1 Rirere
definitely. Especially if you have an app that manages your schedule where wifi / airplane mode is off at certain times of the day.

One way of looking is if you have a firewall app and see which app is using data when you leave the tablet in active (disable all account syncing through settings -> accounts to avoid any false positives).
Alternatively you can do something similar above. Disable sync, and see what apps are chewing up data through the settings menu (Settings -> Data usage) when you disable all syncing. Probably one of the easiest way to do it without installing other apps.
Hope that helps
Can't I use LogCat for this?

Always liked how it knew automatically where home and work was. But recently I went to night shift at work and google now keeps wanting me to change work to home, home to work. My saved addresses are correct but it keeps asking me every time. How do you fix this?

With the new maps it can be checked and set in the profile area (head and shoulders icon on the rhs of the search bar).
You can also just go to the maps website and set it there

Open up Google now and scroll all the way down and press menu > my stuff> places and there's settings for home and work locations. The options for home, work, etc only show up there if in Google now cards you add that specific place as your home or whatever the case is

You probably turned something on in accessibility. this happened to me when I turned on Google voice for dash clock just turn off whatever you turned on and it will fix itself it is a talk back bug. I even rooted removed talk back and it still happened
I downloaded a app called led blinker pro. I removed the app . And that's what was causing the problem. Thanks
