isnt odin only for samsund devices?
you can probably do it with one of the root toolkits available here in the n4 threads.

ok sounds good, i have not used any of the root toolkits so will need some more info please

Odin is for Samsung, not gonna work on nexus. Why not just flash stock images via fastboot, then lock, unlock, lock bootloader. That's what I did when I broke the screen on my first n4.

Use fastboot and do "fastboot format userdata"

Yea, just flash factory image via fastboot. That'll erase everything and return it to completely brand new like state when powered on.

There's a modified boot.img? I don't think so... To root, all you need is a custom recovery. I also wouldn't use the toolkit. At this step, it's just as easy to do it manually. Just type in with your device in fastboot and connected to a PC: "fastboot flash recovery name of recovery.img"

Just try them yourself and see. I personally like Trinity Four (latest releases have dark PA colors. To get nice/normal colors flash TF92G) and FrankenKernel.

Well, if what you say is true and you are correctly flashing the factory images with fastboot ( including the radio )
your screwed.

Download a nexus 4 ROM and flash that.
Next time do not ever ever flash a rom that is not meant for the device. Is your phone a S4? No. Is it a HTC One? No. Stick with ROMs and kernels meant for your device and you'll be good.

He said he ACCIDENTALLY flashed the ROM of a gs4. No need to rip him apart for a mistake, I think he is going to suffer enough by having to replace his defective phone.

Did flash the factory images via Fastboot ?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Tough luck mate
I'm no expert, but obviously you've overwritten your modem/radio partition, maybe even corrupted. I don't know if you could zero that partition (with dd codes) and then flash one of our radios... Not sure if that would work...

Did you flash all the files? System, boot loader, radio... Something like 6 files? If not I would flash all the files. If so I would flash them again.

No, it's not because it's aosp. Nexus 4 uses aosp but the drivers and all are different on each device.
I'm sorry if I sounded like a total jerk before.

Install 4.1 via nexus toolkit. Then 4.2. This should install the nexus radio as well.

[Q] Does someone can help me?

I flash a new rom yesterday for my nexus 4. Unfortunately, it was stuck in the custom rom logo.
I want to fix it via recovery mode. Sadly, my volume key was broken:crying:
Does anybody knows how can I boot my nexus 4 without using volume key? (it was stuck in the custom rom logo.)
Is it an other way that is possible to fix my phone?
And don't pick on my english, I know that is poor:angel:

[Q] How to save files from soft bricked Nexus 4

Hi all; I have a soft bricked Nexus 4. I need a way to save it without wiping the files. I have an audio file I need to rescue from the phone. All online solutions I have found so far assume that I can access the phone features/settings (I can't) or that I can remove the battery (I can't - it's a Nexus 4). The phone is stuck in recovery mode.
I'd be hugely appreciative if anyone can tell me how to either:
A) retrieve my audio file from the phone
or
B) unbrick the phone without losing data
Do you have a custom recovery or are you stock? Also, is your bootloader unlocked?
What did you do to get in the condition the phone is on now?

Thanks, jd1639. I *think* the only thing that happened was that the battery went dead. The battery is not dead now.
Recovery Mode screen says fastboot mode and it says locked.
I guess I am stock? I don't do anything fancy to my phone. I'm too much of a noob.

Is it working now? If it isn't you'll not be able to recover your file. Doing anything will wipe the device.

If you can't boot thart's nothing left to do at this point. Unlocking the bootloader will wipe the device. But you might be able to save the device
