Hello
I'm thinking of moving to htc one coming from an s3. I need your input regarding this, I'm tired of Samsung lags and plastic feeling of the phone. .they are all the same plastic....s3 s4 note 3..all plastic.. doesn't have the premium feel it is suppose to..
Anyone that come from an s2 or s3 or s4 to Htc one can give me his input regarding how sense5.0 is, how does the phone works, the screen, the battery its not removable (I don't like this deal)
Please give me some advises. ..you dont have multi windows on htc one, right?
Any help or advice is appreciated
Thnaks

Mate to be honest, i have couple of friends that moved from S4 to ONE, just by looking at me and my ONE... It is the best phone at the time, and you have always a AOSP build that will have (soon i hope) the split window capability.. The rest is flawless
In my opinion, the HTC One is the hottest piece of mobile hardware in the world right now. It just won the mobile award of the year. The developer support for the One is tremendous. The XDA devs love it. That's more than enough to make any sensible person turn from any other device. I mean, like seriously, most of the XDA devs use it as their daily driver and/or primary development device. Just have a look at the main portal and you'll see that most articles feature the One.
However, the best answer is to figure it out yourself. Just go to youtube and watch some reviews. Search "htc one vs s3" and "htc one vs s4" and "htc one vs anything". Watch these reviews from a couple of different uploaders, so you'll get a broader point of view.
Hi,
We don't allow device comparison/suggestion threads as there are plenty of threads for such discussions in the General forums.
Please direct your question to the device suggestion thread or just search for the answers to your questions.

Within the past week I migrated from the ROM-crazy Touch Pro to a Samsung Moment, and I'm disappointed to find that while XDA has a thriving Android community, there's barely a mention of the Moment. This is perplexing, as the Moment seems to be a very strong device.
I have found the SDX website and appreciate the good work going on over there, but it's a pretty small (though talented!) community. I would expect the Moment to gain more of a following if it were to get more exposure. Is there a reason XDA does not have a forum for this device? How would one go about requesting a new forum?
being a Moment and a CDMA Hero User i was wondering the same thing. :\

This is a HTC device forum so no wonder the SAMSUNG Moment doesn't have its own forum. You can post things about the Moment in the Android Software Development section though.
I considered that, but then I noticed the Samsung Omnia and various Palm, Toshiba, and LG devices had XDA forums.

No love for the Moment And I have one too
Reason would be because the XDA dev's would be pretty worthless (not an attack on them, just a statement of the following fact) at modifying and developing specific for the samsung moment. It utilizies different hardware and software that isn't found on any other android device (bits and pieces are found on other samsung devices only)... For example, the samsung moment utilizes a ONEnand chip and RFS (a samsung propritary) file system...

I heard a mod said that those devices parts were made by htc and the phone was put together by htc. kinda like the nexus one thing.
Samsung Mobile and Sprint announced today that the Samsung Moment has been selected as the first phone to showcase a demonstration of a Mobile Digital TV chip.
Samsung and its Moment may not be mainstream like Motorola but I like the Moment and can't wait for the 2.1 update coming in late March or April. Should make it a better device with the improvements. At least that's the theory...
there is a forum for moment. i had it in my bookmarks but i had to do a reinstall on my comp so im searching for it again atm cuz i didnt save bookmarks.
Sadly the admins don't have time to read every thread in this forum... so it might be a better idea mentioning this in the following thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=616206
This is monitored by the admins.

Indeed.. I already posted a request for the Galaxy(S) and the Spica in the request forum. If you want others, just go post your demand in following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=616206
There is already a forum for Samsung (Android) devices.
Most Samsung users go to the SDX forum as XDA is an HTC Dev forum. I'd recommend checking there, first, as they have done A LOT in the way of development/modding/hacking/theming for the Moment.
The structure of the information provided in the guides can be a little hard to follow at first, but the guides are rather good. ROM/Update flashing is (often too) simple and the rooting process is automated in update.zip format, now.

Personally, as a Moment user, I utilize both XDA and SDX, as great info can be found in both forums.

Hello
Developers please pay a little more attention towards the xperia pro. I've been owning it since end October an am a bit disappointed. Six months have passed and still not much custom ROMs for it. I see a lot of development going on for other new devices like the Xperia S but why not pro. Till now only three custom ROMs are available wbich is very less as compares even to the low end and legacy devices like htc chacha.
This is a humble request from all the pro owners.
PS: pro needs its own section

I think your "PS" is more relevant than the main body of your post.
Developers are people like you and me who invest their own spare time into modding their devices. It is not up to you to demand that others make ROMs for the community, rather that WE form the community.
There are a few good Xperia Pro custom ROMs and mods about, but the problem is that they are very scattered, and the complete lack of organisation here and contradictory advice of where to discuss Xperia Pro (with randon willy-nilly thread closures), along with the intransigent attitude of some admins towards even considering the two minutes work required to create an Xperia Pro sub-section simply stunts any growth in the community.
The Xperia Pro has a significant market niche of being the only respectable GLOBAL QWERTY slider to have been released in the last year, and indeed on the market at the present time. Many people simply do not realise howw important a good QWERTY device is to some of us, and have probably not used one either to understand how superior many of us might feel that QWERTY devices are. There is no point in a 20-core 8 GB RAM phone with 7" screen if the text input is gimped (inaccurate and taking up your whole screen), and the device no longer fits in your pocket! The Xperia Pro gets this right and for those who have used it understand why it completely wallops other devices that might look better on paper.
Truely a good statement! You just took all the words in my mind!
I was trying to port MiUI to pro but my notebook fell into the swimming pool and the HDD wont work anymore. I need some time to collect money to buy another and start developing.
I need every pro owner get inspired by others and to try something.

Cant the moderator create a sub forum for xperia pro development like ray, live with walkman n etc.?
Sent from my LT18i using xda premium
Well 1st and main reason probably they didn't put one is because of lack of development support? This is XDA Developers this forum was meant to be a forum for developers so I guess unless there's not much developers on a specific device then no sub forum for us.
And 2nd is we don't have that much userbase I guess it's not worth the kilobytes for each member here if there would only be a handful of threads on a subforum.

I think the main problem is that pro was focused towards businessmen and such peoplr. Developers generally dont fancy hw QWERTY
Sent from my LT26i using xda premium
I don't think so... If you go to maemo forums you'll see a userbase on which 3/4 are developers and 1/4 are regular users and all of those developers stick to that forum for 2 reasons. 1 All phones/tablets have HW Keyboard & 2 OS is linux. Sad that nokia decided to ditch those and go with windows phones. On which the main reason why I switched android.
Anyone who's interested to do something check this out. I'll start developing one I get a new notebook.

No, the main problem is ignorance of the admins towards how unique and great this phone is. Jjust look at the manner in which devices which the admins fall for the hype for such as the Samsung GSIII receive forums before they even exist or are known about. If the American admin were living in Europe where we have a QWERTY drought then they would have understood that many of us were eagerly waiting for months before the Xperia Pro release and would have created a forum without thought. "Dual core" etc. matters not one iota to many of us if it doesn't have proper QWERTY input.
It is a chicken-and-egg situation. I believe the developers are there in the community, merely that XDA (now regrettably the main place for SE development) is so disorganised that it makes it difficult to communicate.
It would be two minutes work to create a development sub-section in Neo, and actually less work for moderators to deal with the scattered Xperia Pro discussions as we have at present.
Frankly, I wish all Sony Ericsson users would get together, abandon XDA altogether, and return to websites like Esato, sense, TopSony as they did in the old days. At least then all devices would be appreciated and understood by those in charge.

Everyone doesn't care just about 100Ghz processor with thousands of cores. Many people care about the usability of the device. Typing anything on a hardware keyboard is far less easy than on a touchscreen
I own a X10i, pro, xperia s and htc tytn ii. I use pro most of the time due to its usability.

I agree that we should indeed do that, and am working on some mods too in my spare time...
(after all, it has already been accepted to allow Xperia Pro to be discussed, merely not exactly agreed properly WHERE.) All we are requesting is a little cleanup with a small single forum under Xperia Pro (or perhaps more pragmatically here under Arc given the volume of stuff already here).

Rather bold words there completely out of line with the 470+ votes and available ROMs!
Some of us don't require advertising to make informed decisions. Nor do we think that it is work spending €100 more for a device with less features (cough! Arc cough! Perhaps this thread would have been better posted over to the Neo section where there seem to be less of these perceptions)
Show us some loveeeeeeee!

An interesting question. I think Neo V has different partition layouts, but I would have thought Arc and Neo ROMs could be made to work (though have read they will brick your device), except with some of the keyboard configuration left out. I think we should be pushing for an initiative to port Neo and Arc ROMs to Pro, or for example develop some sort of patch which would automate the process.

So the bottom line is ... what's your professional opinion about this problem???

Well the Xperia Z and The iPhone 5 are very different in many ways but the biggest is clearly the OS... Android vs iOS. Well in my opinion Android is the better one but that is my opinion... Everyone has its own taste in smartphones so go to the next shop and test some of the newest android devices and then the iPhone 5, watch some comparison videos, read some articles about it, etc.
On the hardware side there are some big differences aswell:
Snapdragon S4 Pro Quad-Core chip for the Xperia Z and Apples A6 Dual-Core Chip for the iPhone
1Gb Ram iPhone vs 2Gb Xperia Z
4" Retina Display with 326ppi on the iPhone vs 5" Full HD 420ppi Xperia Z
Both are pretty awesome devices... So either way you go, you can't go wrong

In my opinion, iPhone was the best in like 2 years ago. After I do root, ul boot loader, install ROMs and port ROMs etc... I will never leave my android... it is up to you whether to choose what but I suggest Xperia Z.

It is a great idea of making an Off Topic thread so Moderaters does not need to delete again and again... And will keep the forum clean .
Hello everyone,
the moderating team assigned to your forum has decided to no longer allow any offtopic threads whether those were previously sanctioned by moderators or not.
We have come to this decision due to the fact that those threads offer absolutely nothing to the device specific forum or to development in general.
After all the name of the site is xda-developers.
If you feel the urge to engage in any offtopic discussion, the offtopic forum is always at your disposal.
As such, this thread is now closed.
Please understand that this decision was made only to streamline the forums and to enhance the user experience.
Thanks for your understanding and cooperation,
Tom
Moderator for the Sony/Motorola/LG devices
I can see there are a few other "first hello" threads about (although the others seem somewhat old), but I thought it'd be a better start than just bombarding everyone with questions that have no doubt been asked already.
So far, I've destroyed a GT-i9000, successfully upgraded a GT-i9100 to 4.1.2, and I'm half way through trying to play around with my HTC Wildfire S (the pain in the backside it's turning out to be). In short, I can see this becoming a bit of a hobby.
I've got a bit of background in programming, databases, and a few other relevant fields (no notable achievements, but plenty of enthusiasm). I'm starting a course tomorrow at a university in Taiwan (it's actually run by MIT) for developing health care delivery systems for remote areas, so I expect I'll be on here over the coming months (it's just a one-semester gig for now).
I did notice a few frequent posters here, but I don't know how active everyone is, so - HELLO IF YOU'RE HERE!
....and echo... ech... cho... ho... o... .. . if I'm talking to myself!... yself!... self! ... elf!.. lf! ...f! :silly:
I'll keep roaming around in circles for a while and probably have some questions soon! Cheers!

Hi, welcome to xda developers a few things you should note, those hello threads are strictly speaking not allowed as they are counted as off topic. (If everyone one had a hello goodbye thread these forums would be packed XD) secondly you state your working with a wildfire s, this is the wildfire forums the wildfire s is newer and has better hardware. Quick way to tell is if your phone does not have the trackball is the newer model

Now that Samsung is going the way with HTC and making KNOX mandatory, CM11 development for future Samsung Handsets are surely going to suffer.
Should we be looking at LG or SONY now for open hardware handsets? So what the next most modable and tweakable brand of phones out there?
