With Root, Which Apps can we freeze? - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I don't want to screw up my phone, and not sure which apps I can safely freeze.
Can someone upload a list of what they successfully froze, without messing up something else?

Get some ideas here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470862 The benefit of freezing is that you can always unfreeze if you have an issue.

I've removed 82 apps without and issues at all.

By letting them know that at least 82 apps can be removed, it's a bit more helpful than your statement. I plan on putting up a list today.
Here is the list of apps that I've deleted, I froze them at first then deleted them the following day.

Says there's an update to 5.0.5.3 when as you can see at the top right, I already have it. Worked fine on 5.1
*Don't ask me why the picture is so bright..doesn't look like that on the snapshot just when I upload it.

Well it's not really a big deal or anything so i don't think anyone will really look into it, but i guess it doesn't hurt.
this is not a bug go to rom update settings and turn off "Display All Rom Updates" this is if you want it to show all old updates. and this is not a place to report bug they have a google code page you can use issue tracker to report bugs. next time do a little research b4 coming up with dumb bug reports

com.lenovo.runtime Lenovo spyware?

After the whole superfish spyware scandal with Lenovo I'm curious what you guys think about this runtime from lenovo which came preinstalled on my ZUK. It basically has full device access. I tried freezing it but it keeps on running in the background. The app name is Runin-Main (com.lenovo.runtime).
Anyone did a deeper analysis of this app on and what it does?
I froze it with Titanium Backup and it stuck.
Actually on a reboot even with the files disabled, I think the start because the force close option is there, but they stay off until you reboot again.
I have the same doubt about it, also because looks really aggressive on battery drain.

Here more details.
Maybe some kind of testing/benchmarking tools?
Looks suspicious.
Same problem here, this com.lenovo.runtime is taking a lot of battery, what is it exactly? Anyone else tried to froze it or delete?
This process is only on Cyanogen OS? not on CyanogenMod?
Not showing up in my battery stats. I came across this too. It's harmless you can get to it with a button combination too. It's an engineer test. Try freezing them.
Sometimes it appears, sometimes not, is it the same on CM12.1 or only on COS12.1?
It takes a lot of battery.
This only comes preinstalled with COS12.1

Strange processes in battery stats

I went to Settings->Battery and saw these 2 5-digit processes at the bottom of the stats.

At first I thought they might be process IDs and then unrealized that PIDs only go up to 65535 in Linux, so what could these be? I'm on stock and unrooted but am unlocked. I have not sideloaded anything or otherwise installed any .apks from anywhere other than the Play Store.
I see these too even before I rooted. Not sure what they are, but I usually get a settings app crash or freeze when I click on one.
I'm getting these too and can't find any information on them.
I am not rooted and I am still seeing this kind of processes, any help would be much appreciated thank you.
Did you uninstall some Apps you used during this battery cycle? I could imagine that Android "forgets" their names upon uninstallation and thus refers to them with some internal ID.

I didn't uninstall anything, no.
BTW guys, sorry about the ridiculous size of the image in my OP. I posted the OP from my phone last night and the post preview seemed fine. I didn't realize how HUGE the screenshot is until I loaded the post on my desktop's browser.

With root access it would be possible (using TitaniumBackup or so) as its a system app but I wouldn't recommend doing so. If for whatever reason Smartlauncher would fail (wonky update, could happen), there will be nothing to fall back to. There could also be other system elements that depend on its existence. For about a 35MB profit, I don't think it's worth the risk.
But feel free to remove it and report back!

The member that replied to your post that you are quoting actually had hidden a spam link in response -- hence it not being applicable, relating, or helpful.
I've had the same issues that you are having, but can you not simply uninstall that ThreatTrack Security Firewall from the Program and Features? Removing it should remove its hold on your firewall settings and whatever influence in your system -- but if it is truly a rogue nefarious program, you should search for any registry keys or leftover files in your system; maybe even run a malware & virus scan...
Yeah I figured it out last night what was doing it lol I feel stupid
