Hello,
I am a hobby-developer of a spellchecking-engine, in the form of a library, which other developers may add to their applications for Windows Mobile. Please see the thread in my signature for further information.
However, this time I need some help from you end-users to verify the correctness of the suggestions (replacements for misspelled words) produced by my spelling-engine. This is important so I know that the replacements are accurate and reasonable and that the word list (dictionary) I am using is good.
I need to verify Spanish, French and German so if (any) above language(s) is (are) your mother-tongue(s) or if you know them very well, please send me a PM with your e-mail (and indicating which language you would like to help me with) and I will send you a test application. For the time being, this test-application is a normal desktop Windows application (a text editor in which you can load any text file and perform spellchecking and which is good enough for the purpose of verifying the results of the spelling-engine).
Edit: No further beta-testers needed. I might need others later on when verifying other languages
In the future, I will add other languages as well. If you want some languages added and you can provide me a word list (or dictionary) of said language, please let me know.
Many thanks in advance for your help.
if/when you'll need Italian, gimme a shot
Grazie.
I had actually planned to include Italian with the current version of my spellchecker but unfortunately the only word list (dictionary) I found have all words without accents.
For instance:
arriverà - in the dictionary it is: arrivera
più - in the dictionary it is: piu
ecc.
My idea for Italian was to find maybe 10 users (or even more) who could use the spellchecker from MS Word or OpenOffice to correct the words in my current word list without accents. At the end, we would have a corrected word list which would be good. My idea was to send to each person helping with Italian, only a part from the dictionary. Let's say: Person 1 gets all words from A to C, Person 2 gets all words from D - F and so on. If you know some other Italian people who would like to help me with this, please let me know. The more we are, the faster the dictionary will be ready. What do you think?

Update: French and German is no longer needed. I need still a beta-tester for Spanish!

If you have taken it from scrobble, yes, i did compile it this way on purpose (scrobble hasn't accents)

I think spellchechers are not so smart: you'll come out having a lot of strange words
But if you know how to convert .dic/.aff from OpenOffice dicts, here (attached) is the italian OpenOffice dictionary.
Otherwise, i'll manually convert it (as i already did for Scrobble), but we'll lose all the rules (verbs will be only in infinitive form, for example, as they are in usual dictionaries)
Ciao,
No, I didn't use the one from Scrobble. The dictionary I am using was compiled by Luigi M Bianchi and you can download a copy of the dictionary here (http://www.winedt.org/Dict/). It's very complete and lists more than 277,000 words!
However, I had a look at the dictionary you supplied to Scrobble and I think I'd like to use that one instead since it is much smaller (and more suited for Windows Mobile since less memory is required to load it). It has most verb forms present (arriva, arrivi, arriviamo ecc.). However the problem is that it is still without accents But the time needed to correct it should take less.
My spellchecking-engine does not use the Affix-system used by OpenOffice (which is using Hunspell) or likes such ASpell and ISpell. This system is far too memory-hungry (in my opinion) for Windows Mobile although I considered it. For more information what my spellchecking-engine is using, please see the link in my signature.
I tried once to expand an .aff-dictionary (with its corresponding affix-file) but I couldn't get it right. In any case, I think the end-result would be a huge dictionary.
If you still have the Scrobble-dictionary with all accents available, I'd love to use it. Otherwise, I believe that the Scrobble-dictionary would be the right candidate for creating a new dictionary WITH accents using the method mentioned in my previous post.

I should have it at home, tonight i'll check. If not, i'll convert it again and then will attach here

What regards Spanish, German and French, I don't need any other beta-testers.
As to other languages, I might come with a new request later on.
Thank you.
Let me check this one and then I will get back to you.

Love this keyboard, i can actually text one handed! its a pleasure to use but when its finally released etc will anybody be able to mod it to include voice to text button? Thats the only thing i miss!
Where did you get Swype?
I believe they are still in beta? and the beta program is finish?? However if you have rooted your device, think some of the custom ROM has the swype included in it? Otherwise just google it online.
i like the idea
but its not available in my language yet and even though i wouldnt use the dictionaries it doesnt have the funny characters of my language like æ Æ, ø Ø and å Å

How do i "Enter" to the next line down? In the place the enter key should be is a big smiley key?
I've just realised that the smiley key is only present in sms apps - when emailing or using talking Tapatalk then the enter key is present and correct. In the browser enter is replaced by a "go" key, so it seems the key down is dependent on what app is being used.
Is there some way to force Swype to show enter instead of smiley key when messaging?

someone has a working beta supporting German language? My version stopped working exactly 9 minutes ago .. (beta period expired... since midnight)
Can't even get it to install with 15MB free. COmplains that the space is too low.
I was just wondering what version of swype you are using? And does it effect your multi touch controls on the desire? Thanks

Mine stopped working last night too! It began to constantly force close, and give me a message that the trial has expired.

I also got the message that the trial had expired but it still works fine today.
Edit - just replied to a text now and if I try to use the swype input method it stops but if I input each key individually it works.
There are already swype alternatives on the market. SlideIt actually seems to work better then Swype did, at least for me.

ok, copied some graphics and the german dictionary to the new beta (renamed the german to english), delete the meta-inf, resign the apk and it works perfect

I've directly pushed an italian zdb.le into the data directory, replacing the spanish one and it works a beauty. However it's still saying english/spanish as languages, any way to change it ?
Also, I've tried to do what you did, without deleting the meta-inf and ended up saying installation failed... do you know why ?
you have to sign the apk again

i changed my keyboard colour to brown now, fits the desire better hehe
no idea how to change the tracer color (from blue to red or sthg like this) and how to say "german" instead of "espagnol" @ poupup.. can't find the correct file to edit.
I think I signed it correctly, but it was the first time I did that... (it said no errors)...maybe the tools you linked are more appropriated, the once I used looked a lot simpler.
By the way, I've noticed that compared to the normal windows mobile version and maybe even the 'default' beta english dictionary, the keyboard crashed quite a bit, maybe once every 100 words, while using a very complex word. Guess it's more than normal but wondering if it's caused by the pushed dictionary (which I extracted from a windows mobile installation)
The easier signing methods did not work for me too, only the one I linked to.
Is there a way to stop the trial expiring? I really loved using it, but could only do so for a few days
Hi all,
I'm using the Phone Pad, HTC default, Keyboard to type SMS, Mails, Searches etc, cuz i can't handle the qwertz (german) or the simple qwertz key pads. They suck to type SMS (for me)
All works fine (okay, adding the mouth of the smiley ) or ( is a little complicated but manageable).
But... there is a very unlogical order of the different T9 Words. My old Sony Ericsson ordered the words by how often i used them.
I don't need exactly this feature, but to order the words by my own would be nice.
the only accessible workaround is, that i have to add the words manually (then they exists twice).
Then they are the first words the phone suggests me. but this isn't very nice.
do you know some tips to help me with my problem?
how do you handle the sms typing stuff? do you all bought a extra keyboard app in the market??
kind regards
heady2k
I've started using Swiftkey as it does actually learn the words you type. It works well. I personally found it better the default keyboard and better than the much raved about Swype .
I can't post a link but you can find it on app brain.

Yes it is free. It learns the words you use most so you shouldn't need to manually edit the word order. Try it and see if it is better for you.

I'm very glad that you guys in xda are interested in my rom. Because of lack of time, i don't have enough time to post the WWE version of my ROM. I have add some features:
unread sms, mms, missed call in lockscreen
remove the seconde slidetab of lockscreen of cm branch's rom, and enhance the remain right part of slidetab of lockscreen, you can add your own application in right part of the tab
New way to hack original market. For none-US users like China can access the paid apps without affact the apn settings. As you know, the market enabler will affact apn settins, but this will not
add music control in status bar right of the plmn label
app2ext in system-level, whatever you self-install or market download apks will automatically install in ext partition if your sdcard has one
and many more other features
If you guys like it, i'll think about to post my rom in xda next time. I'm schedule to release a new one before Chinese Spring Festival day. If you like, please let me know, you can contact me: [email protected] (Gtalk or email) . That's it. Thanks

I tried it briefly, and it starts up in English, so no worries there, the only thing that isn't is certain buttons in the keyboard, like the return key.
@flzyup: Those themes on the site look really nice as well, what is the clock widget shown on there? it looks just like the HTC clock.
There is the englis language in this rom?
Since it's for Chinese, But the english language will also be kept in my rom. Screenshots are available also in Chinese Words, sorry that i didn't have time to upload english style shots, you can goto my post to have a look: http://ligux.com/?p=1191

Thanks for your testing. Because of i only release in our region, i've remove the LatineIME.apk from my rom and add the official Google PinYin(For Chinese) in it. And PinYin IME from Google has different keyboard layout compare with LatinIME. Next time i'll release a WWE version and add LatinIME in it.
The widget you asked about is a product named:moji tianqi (moji weather) which is developed by a Chinese company for free. You can self-make themes and add to it. You can search "moji" in market, the name is "墨迹天气" in Chinese, This app has english translation, so you can use it. If you like the skin of the widget, i'll ask my parterner who make the skin to give you a copy.
Hey dude, seems like you have done a great job! cheers!!
and is it better to flash your rom directly or wait till the WWE version is realeased?
and when are you planning to post the english version?
and guys, is this rom better (faster, fancier and battery saving) than floyo's latest rom?
@flyzup Okay I know it's a bit off-topic but how do you Chinese guys write both Chinese and English with the same keyboard?
Install Google Pinyin IME from the Market and you'll see how.

It has a key to switch between Chinese and English, you can input english words easily through the IME. As you know, English characters are also common used in China and other Chinese-speaking regions. So english input is neccessary for us too

Hello, I found navigation in your site (ligux.ORG) very difficult and the sentences were not correctly translated. So can you post what that means, and the download links for you rom, I also saw the gingerbread look, but I don't know if it is only a theme or a full rom. so can you briefly describe them, it says some kinds of update_package, so explain it and can you post everything. pleasae....; I love your rom.
Hi there,
I am from a Spanish speaking country, and live in France. My N4 is set in French, because in that way I can get the news of the region (in that weather & news app), and all the country-specific apps works well. Whilst I like having everything in French, I have the problem that my accent is quite strong, and Google do not understand what I say. However, I can set the speech recognition to Spanish, and it works very well... but then Google Now do not understand the order I give to him. For example, to set the alarm at 7am, I would say "poner la alarma a las 7", which Google writes perfectly fine, but it is expecting the orders to be given in French. I have tried setting my phone in Spanish, and it works like a charm, but then Weather and News does not give me the news from France any more.
Is there any way to have the phone in French, but Google Now in Spanish?
Thanks in advance for any help.

That's exactly what I have done. So, now it writes in Spanish the orders I give to it, but it doesn't execute the orders, it just search in google (because it is still expecting the orders to be done in the phone's language). In other words, that option only change the voice recognition, but not the language of Google Now.

Désolé mon ami, Orders given to google now only works in U.S english actually, Neither in European or asian Languages. you have to put English (US) as language to make it work.

Actually, that is not true. I can put my phone in French or Spanish, and Google Now in the same language (or just write the order in that language), and it will work. I can give to the phone orders in any of these languages.
What I want is just to change the language of Google Now so it can be different from that of the phone. But it doesn't seem to be possible.

That would be a great thing!!!
We're able to change the input language to english, but if the system is in other language, Google Now can't show the results properly.
For instance, I live in Brazil and my phone language is in portuguese but I speak english, so when I use Google Now I can't ask "Do I need an umbrella today?" even if the input is set to english with the whole system in portuguese.
I have exactly the same problem. I would be very glad if someone finds a solution :/. Does anybody knows if they plan to make an update for this issue?
If you have Root, maybe editing the Localization of the App might work. I think Paranoid-ROM has this Feature, but "App Settings" for XPOSED Framework should do the Trick as well.

Hey but now in 2018 there isn't any Google Now in the Settings screen of Android O. How can I change the Google Now speech detection to french.?
Here is how to change the Voice Input...
Settings > Language & Input > Voice Input - Then press the settings " star" and configure " offline speech recognition" and you can download another language if needed from there also. I hope this helps!
In the " text-to speech output" setting (also found in Language & Input in the settings) you can configure in which speech the phone/tablet should talk to you...
