Has anyone been able to encrypt the N3 after rooting? I can't get it to go and it is mandatory for my work email to be pushed to my phone.\
edit: I've now tried manually using the settings menu. Even after setting a "high security password" it just flashed the android encrypt icon, reboots and then goes right back into the system. I've tried doing "fast encryption" as well and that doesn't work either.
edit 2: If anyone is wondering I didn't get this to work, however, after some searching I was able to find that Touchdown does encryption and will enforce all policies within the touchdown app itself keeping it separate from the rest of the phone. So I'm able to get my work email, not have to encrypt my entire phone, and stay within policy compliance. I just wish touchdown integrated with the stock calendar.... can't win 'em all.

I've noticed this as well. Can't encrypt device when System reports "Custom". Currently it seems the only path to device encryption is restoring un-rooted stock firmware. . . .
This is driving me nuts since I have to encrypt my device do to Coporate net.
encrypt first then root - Don't work
Root first then encrypt- Don't work
can anyone else confirm this ?

im not a dev but have read about this issue from S3 and up and the only positive thing i have seen is that it can be possible when TWRP can be installed it "can" support encryption. i dont think you will find a solution without recovery option.

Confirmed. I've tried repeatedly to root-then-encrypt. All attempts failed. As soon as I un-rooted and rebooted, I was able to encrypt.

After weeks of trying different things.I Finally figured it out!!
First- Encrypt your device, before rooting
Second- Use the Kingoapp Root method, not Root De La Vega. When i used Root De La Vega, it would not work, and I would get the same error as everyone else. http://www.kingoapp.com/# is the link to the kingo root method. Its a One-Click method that took 10 minutes from start to finish. I just downloaded Multi-Window Manager to test the root, and it worked like a charm.

Hi, I have an i9505 which I have rooted with the help of some of the guides on here.
Anyway, I encrypted my phone from settings -> security not really knowing what I was doing. I was just thinking that it would make my phone more secure or whatever.
Anyway, following this I now have to enter a password every time I lock my phone screen which I find very inconvenient and I understand that I can't install any custom roms in the future.
I have tried to decrypt the phone from settings -> security but the process doesn't seem to complete.
It says that the decrypting process is irreversible ect ect.. it will take one hour ect... ect.. then when I click to confirm it and begin the decryption process the phone just seems to switch off then it turns back on by itself within 30-60 seconds and that is it. The phone is still encrypted?
Can anyone help me please?
I am really gutted!!!
Thanks
I am experiencing the same problem right now, did you ever find a solution?

I was keeping my hopes going because there is a "decrypt device" option in the security settings, but that wouldn't work and I was hoping I was ****ing it up somehow. Guess device cleansing is my only option.

Decrypting a Samsung Galaxy S4
Had the same problem several times. Make sure "USB Debugging" is off in the "Developer Options" section of the Settings screen.
Dont fret....go to settings<lock screen and then change it to swipe....Hope this works!

Last night i had the same problem but i managed to fix
If you press decode it says password and then enter a password of at least 6 digits AND AT LEAST 1 NUMBER to activate the decoding part i tottaly missed that but i realized it a few hours after.
And then it started decoding for about half an hour and it was fixed.
Hope this was usefull so you wont need a system reset.
Given that the original post was in 2013, the OP likely had to reset, if none of the other posts from 2013 in the thread helped.
4.1/2 years on - there must be someone out there that knows how to decrypt the GT-I9195 ??
I spent yesterday researching pro's & con's of encrypting my phone. Couldn't find anyone saying password had to be entered EVERY TIME I USE the phone, just people wrongly advising that I would have to enter password every time I switch the phone on. I could live with that, I thought, so I encrypted it. Big mistake. Why anyone wants a phone that needs a password on every use, I do not know.
Please help me decrypt my phone. Thanks
Alright, I'll run down my problem and hopefully someone can help. I have looked at all of the threads and none have helped me . I am however, very confident one of you guys!!!
Alright, when I Updated to 4.3, I decided that I wanted to go to Cyanogenmod instead of the touchwiz from samsung. I had previously done it with my s3 and everything went well!! So I decided to give it a go. From the moment I tried to root my phone, a notification would pop up on my phone saying "Security information An application attempted to access system on your device without authorization. This attempt has been blocked."
It doesnt matter what method I use (mottochoper, terminal, mac, pc) I always get the same message and everything stops and whatever program I use tells me it couldn't finish.
I have a macbook, I tried uninstalling kies, rebooting my s4/mac, everything!! Nothing works because of this message.
I also tried to dissable and force stop Knox, but it just keeps happening.
I unchecked the box that allowed know to be activated under security, but it keeps happening!!!
I can't root my phone, and it makes me sad very sad ((( The closest I've come to rooting my phone was with the mac Cyanogenmod installer. It almost worked! But then, the security thing.
I have a Galaxy s4 from at&t, running 4.3, a macbook running 10.9, a bagged lunched I prepared for myself that could be yours, and internet access of course.
Someone help please!! Thank you in advance you beautiful folks you!!!!
First my phone's details:
Rooted
Model: Samsung-SGH-I337 (AT&T)
Android Version: 4.2.2
Build: JDQ39.I337UCUAAMDL
Here's the situation...
I'm an IT guy (low on totem) and we're in the Pilot phase for Android using MobileIron. I have a rooted AT&T 32GB S4 and I'm trying to fool MobileIron into believing my phone is compliant. I have done lots of reading on this subject, and nothing has helped, to this point. I have access to the MobileIron server, so I can register, and de-register, my device as often as I want. I plan on reporting this back to the people who get paid more than I do to let them know how secure this is.
Here's what I've tried:
1. I have installed Xposed Framework, and installed RootCloak, but it has zero effect on MobileIron. I couldn't even get to the point in MobileIron setup where I could download our 'secure apps'. (I am aware that RootCloak moved to Cydia, but I read it wasn't as good)
2. I tried using 'Hide My Root' from Play, and that also had zero effect on MobileIron; I got no further than I did with RootCloak.
3. I tried using 'Hide Rooting Lite' from Play, and I was able to download our 'secure apps', and MI required that I create a password/pattern to unlock my phone. In my opinion, this got past the first level of authentication that MI requires, which is a step in the right direction. I have recently learned that MI also scans your list of installed APPs for any APP that requires root.
Do any of you think that changing the names of some of my apps (Titanium Backup, Root Explorer, etc.) would help fool MobileIron? What about trying to DualBoot ROMS? If the secondary ROM that I setup is not rooted, and I have MI installed on it, would it be able to detect root from my primary ROM?
Any help, or ideas that I have not thought of yet, that you geniuses can provide would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi! Any luck with beating mobile iron?
MobileIron is kicking my ass. I have a Nexus 5 that's never been rooted and I can't get MI to install on this device. Is it because the bootloader is unlocked? I'm in IT as well, and our MobileIron administrators have NO IDEA what to do.

I had a similar issue in my non-rooted M8. MI started working after I did a factory reset .
I just got my s5 a couple weeks ago, and so far I am loving it. However, there is one "feature" that sends me into an inexplicable foaming-at-the-mouth rage: the security policy update. Every other day, I will get a popup in my notification center telling me to turn on automatic updates. The exact text is:
"Tap here to allow automatic updates for the protection of your phone."
I click it, select "decline," and am send to the security policy updates section in my settings, where there is no option to permanently disable it. It goes away for a couple days, then pops up again to remind me that I need to turn this on. I don't want this horrid feature, and I plan on never selecting "accept," so is there any way to permanently disable this, or will I be forced to decline this every two days for the next few years?
It will get more and more common, mine got to be every few hours... The solution, root it, then use TitaniumBackup to freeze the Security Policy Updater...
My personal experience is w/ AT&T (SM-G900A model), use TowelRoot to root it (search for the threads on here), then with titaniumbackup freeze "Security policy updates SPD_v2..." and then voila, no more warning
If one dug deeply enough, there might be a system property to disable the policy update notification. But that would no doubt require root to edit. It sounds like a bug that you can't disable a pop up of this type. So presumably Google will fix that at some point.
The expedient answer is as the poster above suggested, root your device and freeze or disable the app generating the pop ups.

Awesome, thanks. When I searched for this popup on google, the results all mentioned the KNOX security thing, so I froze that in titanium backup to no avail.

Not sure if you meant before.. or that you just tried freezing Knox now. If the popup is still bothering you, the info in post No. 2 is good.

I had PREVIOUSLY read online about KNOX, and I merely mentioned that as an afterthought. I did follow the advice from post number 2, which is why I thanked the person.

I am getting the security updates notification periodically. I have rooted my phone using Towelroot and also have the paid version of Titanium Backup. I cannot find the "Security policy updates SPD_v2..." in order to freeze it. Can anyone tell me exactly how to find it in simple steps?
In TB tap on Backup/Restore > click to edit filters > type security in filter by name box.
If one is rooted, is it 'safe' to update / accept to have the SPU, updated, or will going forward with this, update the software if one is on a lower version, or will it cause to lose root? I am running NI2 and rooted with TR. Thanks

Mine just said when i press that update bar that my system is modded and something..
Samsung security disabled
hello, im from philippines and a while ago i was trying to contact the samsung costumer service and ask if what is the best way to fix on this SE andriod pop up disabled but they just told me it has no way. this morning i was rooted my samsung G530H. after that the security policy disabled. somebody could help me?i can't update now my phone.
I have a Pixel 4 with Android 10 on it. It also has Android for Work (Enterprise), i.e., it is managed by work admin who can remote reset the device and also control what gets installed or not. It has MobileIron MDM agent installed on it.
How can I wipe all of this Android for Work and remove the MobileIron completely? I have no personal data on it and can do factory reset and the phone is carrier unlocked as well. The OEM unlock in Developer Options is greyed out.
Most likely, the phone was bought from Android Enterprise, which may also mean the app is built into the firmware - loaded as specified by whatever organization ordered the device from Google. But there's a couple things we can check:
Go to Accounts under Settings, make sure there is no work profile there.
Go to Security > Device Admin apps, see if you can remove the app there.
Failing those, try a factory reset. If the MobileIron app survives factory reset, it's built into the firmware.
Unfortunately there isn't much that can be done to get rid of it with a locked bootloader. You could try sideloading an OTA update but that may fail because the firmware won't match. You can also try the Pixel Repair Tool although I suspect that may not work for the same reason.
Let us know how it goes!
The phone is definitely Android Enterprise as I wrote above. There is work profile and MobileIron installed. Factory reset doesn't help. It always tries to want to setup as Android for Work.
I can't sideload anything I guess as it doesn't go to bootloader mode at all. I will try Pixel Repair Tool. Thanks for your suggestions.

What do you mean it doesn't go to bootloader mode?
Are you able to enable Developer Options and USB Debugging?
My bad. I tried Pixel Repair tool. It went thru successfully but did not remove the Android for Work so I guess I am stuck with a paper weight. Nothing can be done effectively. That's fine. I will wait for black friday deals and buy a new phone. Thanks.

If the device is enrolled in Android Zero Touch, there is nothing you can do unless the IMEI is removed from Zero-Touch.
