It’s always a pleasure to be the bearer of good news, especially when it comes to sharing with people what we know about an impending arrival of Ice Cream Sandwich on their Android devices. But before we do, we just want to make sure you know that this hasn’t been fully confirmed yet by Verizon. With that in mind, owners of Motorola Droid RAZR may want to mark down June 12 on their calendar, as that’s the date that Verizon apparently will roll out the ICS update for the two Droids.
According to internal sources quoted by CNET, the OTA update to Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich for both Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx will be pushed out on June 12. While there were plans to bring it out earlier, there was an issue with the server that was supposed to deliver the update — hopefully that’s been dealt with now.
The June 12 date certainly still falls in line with what Motorola has written on its website, where the ICS upgrade roll out for Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx is expected to start in Q2 2012. In this case, the end of the second quarter more like. As always, we’ll let you know once we have more details. Feel free to share with our readers if you have some information or heard otherwise about the ICS update for the Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR Maxx.
let's wish motorola atrix 4g will get it in early july

My money is on late Q3 for Atrix. Likely September I think.

What's up with all these threads on ICS for non-Atrix phones?
Motorola said Q2 for the Droid RAZR. Q2 is almost at an end. If that's any indication of future performance, ICS for the Atrix may not come until closer to Q4.
Maybe this is great new for us. That update might have something usefull for our devs. Of course, not drivers, but maybe our very first Blur ICS Rom. plus Webtop 3.0 (Tablet ICS). Idk, maybe im too positive Lol.
I wouldn't be surprised if Motorola decides to push it back in late Q4.

I wouldn't be surprised if at&t blocks it all together to try to get people to buy there already ics enabled phones. Or if they dont have a selection to block it so people will hold out for the next newest thing they'll get.
I'm hoping we'll see the soak test at the end of July and OTA by August just like last year's Gingerbread update.

I still think late Q3/early Q4. IMO the carriers will be more to blame getting their bloat on there. Then again all it really takes is one carrier worldwide, and CM9 will truly be in full effect.
I could care less about stock anyway. Once CM pulls out what it needs, I'll be wiping my phone for some CM9 goodness...

The European Atrix is not very likely going to get ICS - back in February they first marked it as coming in Q3 and then set it back to Evaluation & Planning.
So I wouldn´t be suprised if they cancel the Update for North America. See, the Atrix is 1.5 years old and although it still can be regarded as "High End", there are other, newer phones from Motorola in the pipeline. Call me glass-half-empty, I´m just realistic. Motorola, like any other company, has to make profit and shelling out money for an update for an outdated device (yes, it can be considered as such since there is already an Atrix 2) is just a service.
I still hope to see my Atrix rocking fully functional ICS, but I wouldn´t be suprised if it never happened.
Just my 2 cents

I hear what your saying, but I think the update is more of a public relations move. Our phone was only 8 months old when ics came out. There was lots of negative feedback towards moto for the response time about ics. If they dropped support on a flagship phone they would lose customers indefinitely.

This makes little sense.
If a customer sees that their device is "old" compared to others, and realizes that the issue is lack of support from Moto, the response will be to buy another brand of phone.
On the scale of things, it is not a big effort for Moto to release for other devices based on the same platform. I would imagine the true engineering effort is almost nothing, and the bottleneck is just getting it thorugh QA.
I would be very surprised to not see an AtrixG4 released in August.

I love my Atrix, and don't see any other device, for now, to replace to. However, I really doubt if I will buy another Moto device, with the only excepsion of a Moto-made Nexus. Moto's policy of locking the bootloaders, along with a very questionable updating history probably burned Moto's future for me, which is quite a shame since I really love their building quality and simple-and-non-cloned designs.
Do you think our phone will receive the 4.4 update? Let's see..
https://motorola-global-en-uk.custh...iMW9uT2JjRWwiLCJzZXNzaW9uSUQiOiIxb25PYmNFbCJ9
Edit: Well guys, it's official now..hope razr I will receive android 4.4 soon..
[STATUS]
MOTOROLA RAZR i
The device runs KitKat 4.4
And the future plan is....
"This device will remain on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean)"
They do owe us an answer about upcoming support and they are taking long on it. But i don't know if that answer's gonna be upgrading or letting phones die. I mean, they announced and released moto x, and then they just announced another line of phones. Only ones with secure upgrades are d1 and d3 and it's only for 4.2... Things ain't looking pretty good for razrs
RAZR I is 13 months and 2 weeks old, google keeps 18 months support for nexus line, and wants to kill fragmentation with Android 4.4, who supposedly should work smoothly even on older hardware - so, theoretically, I think there is still some chance for RAZR I ... but Motorola still is not google, and I've read somewhere that RAZR I was an experiment for Motorola because of Intel processor, I think that now everything depends if that experiment succeeded. Maybe also Intel would have something to say, but they have already new architecture out.
So, considering all above I'll give 50/50 for an update to 4.4.
Sent from my XT890 using xda app-developers app
the thing is, the razr I is still being sold on many markets, at least in Arg, Brazil, and the UK, not updating this device will be catastrophic, I mean you are OUTDATING a device that you *still* sell? its idiotic, if thats the case, I'm NEVER going to buy from motorola again, I partially bought this device because of the promise of delivering new software updates, and yet, we still are in a version that was released BEFORE the launch of our device.
TBH, I have faith, the razr HD developer edition was confirmed to recieve the update, and that probably means the M too, so I think we could recieve it as well, however it will be the last update for sure.
I hope so ) i was going to sell my Nexus 4 to buy a RazRi (AGAIN) It's such a nice phone i wish CyanogenMod released a rom for it then i would sell up and get the RazRi back
I don't think we'll get 4.4. Maybe 4.3 if we're lucky. Intel have a big part in this too, and whether they co-operate or not is important.

Well, sony has a bazillions of phones, sola is a low end device, and they have their own skin. Moto on the other hand, doesnt have a custom skin anymore, on some markets (UK) they offer 2 devices only (razr i, razr hd), and ours was (still is actually) a mid range. So I think we have a chance, is not the same situation.

I think, we will stay and die on 4.1.2
Main problem is, that every country which is not called USA is "Rest Of The World" for Motorola. And in USA the Razr I is not available.
Next thing is, that the Razr I was sold before Moto was bought from google. So the old pipeline doesn't exist anymore.
I don't care much if we get updates or not. All I want is just a cyanogenmod support which we might be getting soon. Cyanogenmod is a beast which makes our phone is much more usable. Been using it since old Milestone 2. I'm using it as a daily driver on my Photon Q. Will be loving it more if it's available on Razr i. Never experience it on an Intel devices yet.

It's in Portuguese so i'll translate for you. Forget about the text. Look for the facebook comments.
According to Wesley Albertto and Walter Figueiredo, they've contacted MotorolaBR support looking for the 4.4 update to Razr I and surprisely they answered razr hd and i will receive 4.4. Moto will skip 4.2 and 4.3 and go straight to kit kat, toguether with razr d1 and d3.

Well, they just got bought by Lenovo... it's normal a press conference to tell public the company perspectives...
hope they didnt change too much on Moto x lines
i mean that will always have fast update, motorola logo, exclusive apps and awesome design
A new watch would be nice. Still waiting for someone to release the must have watch.
I'd rather they announce further support for the Moto X and introduce new features. Some reassurance the design philosophies of the Moto X won't be abandoned for rejoining the spec wars. The guy above me who suggested a higher resolution should be ashamed of himself.

The deal probably isn't completely finalized yet; i mean this just happened like a week ago. How did they already figure what they gonna do with Motorola. 4.4.4 is a serious security update. Motorola is certainly pushing the update through the channels now. It is less than 3mb on the Nexus devices so it is a very small update. It has only been out a few days. Motorola had lots of time to prepare for 4.4.3. That is why it was pushed so quick.

Hey guys. I am rooted and currently running the 6.0.1 Asia release image. Just wondering if anyone knows why there's been such a delay in getting the OTA for the US variant? I've really enjoyed using the Moto X and with the Moto Credit i opened it would have been easy for me to justify upgrading to the 2016 version when it is announced. But being as OCD as i am about timely OS updates, going back to the nexus line is looking like a better option as the days go by. I get that 6.0.1 is just an incremental update, but that makes me wonder even more why it hasn't been rolled out. I'm hoping that this just means we'll receive Android N as quickly as possible, but i wont hold my breath. Thoughts?

Just because they're discontinuing one line and starting another is no reason to stop updating the previous line. The device is not even one year old. It'd be a terrible (and BS) decision to just drop support for it like it never happened. Especially with them discounting the device so much lately, they'd have a lot of new pissed off users on their hands.
Thinking on it, I honestly think the release of 6.0.1 to a limited number of handsets may specifically be targeted to see what problems will arise. Not the first time a manufacturer has done this. But informing customers would be a good move when doing this.
