So there's this guy at my school and he wants me to root his S4 but doesnt want me to take it home. So i told him that i would find out if it can be done at school where i will have no access to the internet there except for school computers but the sad thing is that they block everything there so i was wondering if it can be done without internet access. Thanks
in a way, yes.download all files needed for rooting, bring your laptop to school and root his phone.viola!!!!
Alright cool thanks for the reply

You cannot tether without root access if you havent purchased the hotspot package through verizon

Ok how do I root is there an easy way? When I had the capttivate I flashed the rom and rooted but I had help lol

You can tether without root using pdanet(available in the market). It doesn't, however, work as good as wireless tether.
Rooting is extremely easy though and it's hard to mess your phone up doing it.

You can tether wirelessly without root by turning on 3g hotspot and toggling airplane mode on and off.

Just wondering if anyone else is using the wireless tether app for their 360? I didn't think it would work since it doesn't work for wii but I just tried to connect and it worked, been playing multiplayer halo reach on it all week!
*disclaimer need the new xboxes I think, but maybe old one with the wifi adapter thing
I don't have a wifi xbox, but when My internet was down once I used my phone as wifi for my laptop, then shared my laptop's interent via cable... worked fairly well.
actually, wireless tether 2.06 should work for xbox or wii... it's in infrastructure mode on these phones. On older phones (like I came from a hero) it could only do ad hoc
I've used it for my 360...mostly black ops..but it works

i was hoping some one could help me out, or at least point me in the right direction here. I'm trying to connect through my droid x. It's rooted and i have wireless tether for root users. I've watched videos and read forums and followed them step by step. I've also tried pdanet and internet sharing through my computer and cannot get that to work either. Like i said i've watched videos and followed them exactly so i will take any help i can get. Thank you.

Are you picking up the adhoc network on the xbox?
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App
i can pick up my droid x's wireless network, or atleast it shows up when i scan for wireless networks. and when i try and connect it cannot connect to "androidtether" because it cannot find the IP addresses. so as for the ad hoc networks i'm not entierly sure. I'm kinda new at this type of stuff so you'll have to fogive me. But under configure connections it shows up as "infrastructure" as other forums has said it should.
I want a solution. I am having nexus 4 and my college server is protected with smoothwall firewall
I didnt want to root my nexus 4 but without rooting it gives very slow internet speed and crashes plz provide solution

Without root your internet speed will be the exact same as with root. You won't experience more crashed with or without..
You could try to use a VPN, but that probably won't work either. Just live by the rules of your college.
It's called network filtering and QoS, there's no such bs that rooting or not rooting affects your device speed.
hi please replay

This is old news
Previously covered in more detail here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2496921
A search would have prevented starting a new and repetitive thread.

There was a TetheringProvision.apk I had found on the s4 forums that worked perfectly with our phone (I only tried hotspot) it'd give you the error message saying it's not on your plan but one you hit ok it pulls up. I decompiled and did some editing and replaced the original and I have no clue where it came from...

I called T-Mobile about Port forwarding and the lady on the phone was like you need to do that on your router, I am like I'm I am using my phone as my router to my 4 g late internet she was like oh. Then put on hold transferred and next person said the same thing from the tech support. I was like ok I can hook up a router bridge and try that is that what your telling me, the guy was like a bridge what's that's I hung up
Open File Explorer, click Network on the left, then right click on your router, and check the settings.
